Loved Villa Glanum. Stay here!

I loved this hotel. We had our own little villa with a private porch. Close to the Glanum ruins. A good walk (nice to walk off a meal) to/fro downtown St. Remy, but in being further away, it made for a very peaceful and quiet stay without too much traffic driving by. Staff was friendly. The breakfast patio, like the entire estate, was very pretty and charming, I loved having breakfast out there each morning. Good location for day trips, and had a pool to take a dip after a day out and about.

Our arrival was less than promising for being chastised where we left our car when checking in. However, the room was comfortable except for an overpowering aroma of bleach perhaps from a heavy handed cleaner. The pool area is lovely. Breakfast is quite pricey at 12euro so we went to town and paid 6euro for us both.

Lovely hotel close to St Rémy-de-Provence

I have just spent a relaxing couple of days at Villa Glanum. It is really well located on the outskirts of St Rémy-de-Provence.

It is a 15 minute walk into town, where there are lots of shops and restaurants. You are right next door to the Roman ruins at the Archeological site of Glanum and over the road from the psychiatric hospital that Vincent van Gogh stayed in. So great culture on your doorstep.

I had a lovely gite like room with its own private terrace. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. There was also a lovely pool to cool off in and plenty of sun loungers.

I would definite recommend a stay here.

beautiful spot, quiet, nice pool, good location

We stayed 3 nights. the hotel is outside of St Rémy de Provence (about 15 minutes on foot, 3 minutes by car, to the small town center). it has very pretty grounds, and a nice pool; there is also a restaurant, but we didn't eat there. the complex is right next to two interesting attractions: Les Antiques (an arch and a tomb from Roman times) and the hospital of St Paul, where van Gogh stayed for about a year. St Rémy is convenient to many Provence sites, and we used this as a base. The hotel is quite lovely, the room was smallish but pleasant, the wifi was fine, the staff was helpful and friendly, the pool a definite plus as it was quite hot. the grounds were also very quiet (which mattered as we were there when France won the World Cup and even small St Rémy was very noisy that night). we also got a reasonable price for the value.

Glanum Goodies

Hotel and staff great, only drawback was that the restaurant was only open for breakfast (which was excellent). It is in a great spot about 10 minutes on foot out of St Remy de Provence and being literally next door to the archaeological site of Glanum and also the asylum where Van Gogh spent a year shortly before is death.
Highly recommended.

Great Location!

Villa Glanum was a very nice stay. The room was well appointed, the grounds were very pretty, and the staff friendly. The parking was spacious and included. Located outside of St. Remy it was close enough to walk to town. The walk was along a route that had examples of Van Gogh paintings done in St. Remy and quotations from his correspondance. The hilltop ruins and village of Les Baux were a short drive from Villa Glanum. Highly recommend the son et lumiere lightshow in the quarry at Les Baux. All easily accessible by car from Villa Glanum. And the name Glanum refers to Roman ruins that are nearby. One of our favorite places in a month long trip..

Villa Glanum Review

The Villa Glanum was an excellent hotel. The room was very nice, the restaurant was great especially breakfast. This place was very close to downtown St Remy. I would say about a 20 minute walk down Vincent Van Gogh Street. The pool and the pool area was excellent. It was very very clean. The staff was exceptional..I would come here again for sure.

Easy walk into town and so convenient to the Roman ruins and Van Gogh's hospital.
The mistral winds were an issue during our stay but we found a sheltered area by the pool to enjoy dinners outside in a very peaceful setting.

Romantic Getaway in Provence

This was a lovely place to stay. The hotel is older but well-maintained. The gardens are filled with flowers and olive trees. You can easily imagine Van Gogh taking on these vistas as well. Bordering the edge of the property are some striking Roman relics. The pool looks lovely although it was a bit windy for us to enjoy it during our stay. An added bonus was the restaurant at the hotel...The food and presentation was wonderful! We ate there several times. Another thing we liked was the private little patio our room had with a little bistro set. A great place to sip your coffee in the morning or a glass of wine before dinner!

Beautiful hotel and property - very charming

This is an absolutely gorgeous hotel. My husband & i enjoyed our stay very much. The room was small but comfortable and had a lovely patio with a table and chairs, that was separated from our neighboring rooms by high hedges. Staff were friendly and professional. It was end of season, so we were only able to experience the restaurant for dinner our first night, as it was closed the following night for the winter season (closes 9/30 until April or May). We did enjoy a romantic dinner in their beautiful courtyard that first night, and brought in our own picnic a subsequent night. They did bring in a nice buffet breakfast in the mornings for €11 per person. Would have been nice to have had a coffee maker in room, as well as body lotion and tissues. Grounds are gorgeous and hotel is walking distance to town.

We stayed here for 4 nights in mid September in one of the villa's in the hotel grounds. The room was very comfortable, the only negative point is that our Villa (number 12) had a very small outside area. The bed was king size and supremely comfortable.

Hotel Glanum pleasant surprise

The primary reason I chose the Villa Glanum was its proximity to the asylum where Van Gogh painted some of his last paintings and it is indeed directly across the road leading from St.Remey . It is about a mile from the center of the beautiful village--both the person at the tourist bureau and the woman at the hotel desk seemed surprised when I showed up with two suitcases on the bus from Avignon and had to walk the mile to the hotel. The grounds of the hotel are beautiful. There is a large pool and restaurant set within meticulous landscaping that reminded me of the Ocean Club on Paradise Island. The landscaping provides privacy for the poolside rooms and easy access to the restaurant tables. The area has a resort like feel to it. I dined both nights at the restaurant and found it to be very good. The asylum is located in a Romanesque monastery and adjacent to it are extensive recently excavated Roman ruins--well worth the trip. The rooms are adequate with a modern bathroom--all in all, a very pleasant surprise.

Cute but so many other options

This hotel is very cute. It grew on me after the first day. Rooms are very very small and dark. Breakfast is good and with ah nice little outdoor garden area.The drawback is the road noise which is very constant and rooms are just 50 feet or so from the road. We paid 150 US/night which is a low price for Summer, however given so many options in the area I am not sure I would stay there again.

Provence at its best!

This hotel is situated next door to the glanum antiquities and St Paul du Mausolée ( well worth a visit!) and a 10 minutes walk to the beautiful town of St Remy de Provence. An absolutely perfect location. We stayed there for a week and although our room was quite small , it was very clean and had the most quaint and private terrace. The hotel grounds are lovely and the gardens are beautiful. We had breakfast there every morning and one supper at the restaurant. It was the best meal we had during our stay in a France.

It is close to the Roman antiques and to St. Paul, and a 10-15 minutes to walk to the city historic center. There is a nice garden. The room itself, with the terrace is simple, w/o a window (only in the bathroom you can find one) and the staff will answer if you ask. It is OK, nothing more.

Very Cute Rustic and Serene Hotel

Quiet hotel a bit out of town

This is a surprisingly quiet hotel given that it is on the main road out of St Remy. Our bedroom faced the back and was peaceful and clean. The bed was rather hard but the room was reasonably spacious. The hotel is situated next to Glanum so a good walk out of the town which might be fine in the summer but too far to walk on winter evenings. It is a simple hotel but perfectly comfortable for a few nights. The swimming pool looked nice (too cold to swim at this time of year). If you want to be out in the country but close to town then this is a good hotel to be in as it is literally on the edge of the town next to the Roman site of Glanum and across the road from the sanatorium (not visitable) where Van Gogh stayed.

Nice restaurant with limited menu; good for breakfast and can order less than full breakfast for less $$s. Smallish bathroom, but recently remodeled and clean. Best of all, free WiFi!! St. Remi centrally located for visiting Provence sites.

Nice Little Hotel

This is a pretty little hotel with a lovely garden and pretty location. It is a bit far of a walk to get into town so will work best for you if you have a car. Internet is only available in the lobby. The hotel is clean and well taken care of. My only complaint is that the walls are paper thin and you can hear everything from adjoining rooms.Although a bit of a walk from town it is located right beside some Roman ruins.

Picturesque little hotel in Southern France

Whether you are in Saint Remy de Provence for business or leisure, this is a pleasant place to stay.
Nothing is perfect in this little hotel, but it would feel odd if anything would be perfect there. It's just a pleasure to sit in the breakfast room and look into the beautiful little garden.
The breakfast is just enough. If you need a full size English/American breakfast it's probably not enough for you.
There are just a few TV channels to get by. If you can't speak French or want 24 hour feed of news, you probably need a different hotel.
There are only 2 floors, ground level and second floor so there is no elevator. If you need an elevator, you may choose a different hotel.
The staff is very friendly for Southern France. If you need American service with a permanent frozen smile, you probably want to book a different hotel.
To me the hotel, which is only a 15 minute Walk from the town center, was a pleasant break from the sterile and uniform chain hotels I all to often have to use on most business trips. This hotel is unique. You may like it or not, the hotel can care less. It was there many years before your visit and, timeless as it is, it will undoubtedly be there in many many years. To me this hotel could have been a movie set in a movie like \"A good Year\" with Russel Crowe.

Second stay, just as excellent

We satyed at the Villa Glanum a year ago for a romantic week-end. This year we checked hotel.com at the very last minute and found Villa Glanum at a half-price discount. We decided to return, thinking that maybe it wouldn't be as wonderful as the first time. We were wrong, it was just as excellent as the first time, and our room was even larger than the year before. Very beautiful location too, across the street from the entrance to the archealogical site of Glanum.
Van Gogh painted this villa too.

About a 3 star

The hotel staff was helpful and spoke English but this hotel were what you expect from a 3-star hotel....small rooms, stiff bed, and cheap furniture. It was clean which is half the battle but wish I would have stay either more rural and gotten the entire French countryside experience or been downtown Saint Remy for the easy enjoyment of walking around town.

A Unique Find in Provence.

I'm a little tall and the bed was a little small but other than that the hotel was a great find. The hotel is located just south of Ste-Remy but it is a very short walk. The restaurant is not worth your time but the town is. The hotel is across the street from the asylum where Van Gogh painted Starry Night. There are Roman ruins all around the hotel. The rooms have a terrace and a modernish bathroom. The in room safe is small but functional. Overall I would recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a unique experience.

This hotel had it all. Friendly helpful English speaking staff, great restaurant, lovely grounds, convenient walk to surrounding sites, the ruins at Glanum and across the street from the hospital where Van Gogh had himself committed. Although we had a car we walked to St. Remy. It was a nice change of pace from the big cities. An oasis. We can't wait to go back again.

Un havre de paix aux cœur des Alpilles.

Lieux de choix pour cet hôtel, à quelques kilomètres des Baux de Provence. Un superbe parc avec piscine ou il fait beau se promener et se détendre. Un petit-déjeuner copieux servi par une charmante hôtesse. La taille des chambres est cependant minimaliste, tout comme l'espace petit déjeuner lorsque le temps ne permet pas de le prendre à l'extérieur. Un restaurant aurait été bienvenu, mais le village recèle d'excellentes adresses. Reste cependant une très bonne adresse.

Hotel pulito ed economico

Piccolo hotel fantastico a due passi dal sito archeologico di Glanum e a pochi passi dalla carinissima cittadina di Saint-Rémy-de-Provence. La struttura è pulita, ben mantenuta e curata, avvolta nel silenzio della campagna. L'interno della struttura centrale è molto accogliente con piccolo salotto e cammino, sarà stato un casale agricolo. Lo staff è gentilissimo, dà la sensazione quasi di conduzione familiare. Camera pulitissima e confortevole in tutti i sensi (letto buono con cuscini morbidi); le dimensioni ridotte della parte abitativa sono compensate dall'ampio bagno (con doccia fantastica) e dalla piccola terrazza con tavolino e sedie. Il clima ancora primaverile ci ha impedito di godere al massimo l'area esterna con piscina e sdrai, ma anche questa zona è molto curata e accogliente.

Tres bonne situation géographique

Pour la vite du massif des alpilles, Arles ,la Camargue la situation géographique est parfaite .
Hors haute saison, cet hotel est Très calme ,les services et le personnel à un très bon niveau, seules les chambres , (sanitaires, douches, chauffage de la salle de bains,) ne sont pas en adéquation.
Tarif très bien situé (90€) pour une chambre double( hors petit déjeuner)
Je vous le conseille tout de même

Mycket bra läge för mycket

Mycket bra läge för bilutflykter i regionen. Nära till St Rémy,Baux, Arles, Avignon mm. Observeras bör att (trots vad som står beskrivet) så är restaurangen stängd från oktober till början av mars. Detta var en besvikelse för oss, eftersom vi främst bokat detta hotell för att efter en lång resa kunna stanna kvar på hotellet under kvällen. Restauranger finns i Saint Rémy, som ligger dryga kilometern från hotellet. Vidare bör observeras, att poolen är stängd från senare delen av september och öppnas först i juni. Detta framgår inte heller av hotellbeskrivningen. Bortsett från dessa \"begränsningar\" är hotellet bra. Ett extra plus är att det finns en bra parkering, som dessutom är låst under natten.

Ascenseur emotionnel

Malgré une grosse déception à l'arrivée suite à la découverte de notre chambre (villa standard ; vue parking, literie inconfortable pour 120 euros) le problème fut réglé le lendemain par la gérante qui nous a reclassé dans une des chambres nommées 'bâtisse' (99 euros). Si la première nuit ne nous a pas permit de profiter de tout le charme de cet hôtel nous n'avons pas été déçus par la suite. La piscine et le jardin sont très agréables et les petites terrasses des bâtisses très appréciables, la salle de bain plus spacieuse et agréable, la literie était confortable. Nous n'avions plus l'impression d'être dans le même hôtel.

OLIVIER

Hôtel pour les vacances

C'est un très bon hôtel de style provençal dans un cadre magnifique.
Nous nous sommes reposé à l'ombre des oliviers qui entourent la piscine aux chant des cigales.
Nous avions réservé une nuit car étions uniquement de passage pour aller à Marseille mais nous avons regrettez de ne pas pouvoir rester plus longtemps.
