This is a nice, clean, well-maintained hotel in a wonderful town to use as a base for exploring the Southern Rhone region. The hotel has extensive grounds with two pools and multiple patios and sitting areas. Breakfasts are good, and the dinners are great while being reasonably priced. St. Remy itself is a great town to explore and the hotel is less than a ten-minute walk from the village center. Parking is easy, which was important because we had a rental car for day trips to Nimes, Pont du Gard, Avignon, Arles, the Camargue and l'Isle sur la Sorgue. It is centrally located among all of those towns, and not difficult to drive in or out of. We loved it as a base for several days.

Delightful unusual hotel on the outskirts of St RemyenProvence
We spent one night here en route to Nice. The room was adequate. Sparsely furnished but very clean and comfortable. Tea and coffee facilities were provided. The ensuite had nice big towels and no black grouting!
We ate the €39.50 set meal which was fabulous. Breakfast was super too with lots of choice.

Everything about this hotel was just wonderful (so wonderful in fact that I almost want to keep this place secret!) The attention to detail and care of the property went beyond what I’ve experienced at some 5 star hotels.It serves as a fantastic base for visiting Provence and we looked forward to coming back at the end of each day for a refreshing and relaxing swim, followed by a delicious 3 course dinner in the outdoor dining space. I will most definitely be back again.

5 Star Experience!
We very seldom bother to spend much time on these ratings, but to not do so for Le Mas de Carassins would be negligent for the hotel and staff, and a real disservice to fellow travelers. We stayed for 10 days on our recent Anniversary trip to Provence. We are now retired but both did years of international travel for business careers and pleasure. These 10 days of our 3 week adventure were the highlight of this and most other travel we have ever done. The property is beautiful - exquisitely gardened and maintained; two remote swimming pools invisible from the rooms and patios, lovely terrace to enjoy leisurely meals. Speaking of meals, we hadn't intended to, but after two dinners there, came home from our day trips every night. Ivan (chef) is a culinary super-star! The five course dinners are on a 15 day rotation, so we never had any repeats! The French know how to do food, and this hotel blew our minds with taste and presentation - absolute fine art! Significantly better than our 8 day cruise on the Rhone with Viking. Ask for Maeve to be your server - excellent English, fun, pleasant, knows everything about the dishes and wines, as well as pointing you to great places to visit in Provence. Wonderful room with a private lounging terrace, probably about 15 rooms total. You know it was good, because most of the guests were French; no little kids. Great central location for day trips throughout Bouches-du-Rhone, and the Vaucluse. Entire staff was professional, friendly,

This is a great property and a fantastic \"home base\" for Provencal adventures. St. Remy is our favorite town \"en Provence\" and this property is located just outside the downtown core with parking. Easily walkable into downtown St. Remy.
The Good:

- Please note that \"half board\" means both breakfast and a set-menu dinner are included. I wasn't familiar with that term and therefore we did not eat dinner at the hotel (more on that later).

- The room we received \"La Jasse\" was located just above the kitchen and it was very loud and noisy until about 1AM each night. We used ear-plugs but be advised that this room is loud as they pack away the kitchen each night.
- One of the proprietors kept badgering us about eating at their restaurant. For us, going to Provence is in part about culinary experiences and we had booked several other restaurants to try. Sorry, but eating a set-menu dinner with no options was not very appealing. Even though we paid for it as part of our room, one of the proprietors kept hounding us (in disbelief). That made our stay somewhat uncomfortable as we kept trying to dodge this guy. FWIW, the other proprietor \"Michael\" was very kind and always willing to help.

Carassins offers comfortable rooms in a beautiful garden setting along with an excellent restaurant and a friendly helpful staff. When checking in, we mentioned that one of us does not eat seafood and they were very accommodating with the each of the 3 dinners. We would definitely stay there again.

The hotel is delightful. Well situated close to town but with fantastic extensive grounds and two pools. The basic rooms are small and rather dark but the concept is to spend time outside. The bed was really comfortable.

Without a doubt one of the very best hotels we have stayed at. It embraced the essence of Provence with its decor. The food served every night in the dining room was of exceptional quality coupled with a small but very selective wine list. Again it made use of local produce. We were given a good explanation of the surrounding area with its many sites. Excellent and very friendly staff.

Enjoyed our stay at Mas Des Carassins. The grounds were beautiful, the staff pleasant and helpful and the fee more than fair although the extra charge for breakfast was a bit high for what was offered. The dinner, on the other hand, was well priced and well presented. Although not located in the center of St. Remy, it was an easy walk into town, and an equally easy walk in the opposite direction to the wonderful archeological site of Glanum and the hospital in which Van Gogh was admitted for a year of psychiatric care.

Great hotel, well located to explore the area, St Remy is particularly nice. The grounds of the hotel were lovely, and its worth dining at the hotel at least once, the food is good, but the sense of occasion is excellent, the menu changes daily and they will cater for vegetarians. The staff were friendly and helpful. It's also worth a visit to nearby Glanum Roman ruin site.

Superlative experience at Les Mas des Carassins
We spent four nights at Les Mas des Carassins and absolutely love the place. Make sure you have dinner there at least once--fabulous food at a reasonable price for what you get, and they even made it work for vegetarians. St-Remy-de-Provence is a great place to use as a base for exploring the area: Arles and Les Baux made a great day trip, and don't miss Fontaine de Vacluse before checking out hill towns like Roussillon and Gordes. We were less keen on Avignon than everyone else is. It's personal preference, of course, but the palace of the popes in Avignon impressed us less than our visit (back in St-Remy, a short walk from the hotel) to the hospital of St-Paul-de-Mausole where Vincent Van Gogh spent over a year painting so many of his masterpieces. Les Mas des Carassins is a joy of a place. We loved being in the country but only 10 minutes walk to St.-Remy--a perfect combination. Highly recommended!
