This is a delicious and well-run property with a long history. Everything was perfect..almost. Our suite was very comfortable, but it was VERY dark inside. It was long and the only natural light is from the door (glass). That was our main criticism. The only other little quibble is there was absolutely nowhere to hang our sumptuous robes, and so the cleaning crew (and it WAS a crew) took to hanging them on the shower door or folded (wet) by the tub.

Beautiful location, great service, restaurant was amazing, we rented e-bikes and biked to a hilltop town very close with amazing views and shops. This hotel I would highly recommend. Our room had a second level (loft) the prior owners art studio. Loved the grounds, patio areas, the shuttle was first class. Loved the whole experience! Definitely coming back!

Food, wine, grounds and rooms - in that order

The property has 2 main campuses, each is very nice. We were in the one building in between and it doesn’t feel like part of the culture. Try to avoid that building.
The grounds are fabulous and the food is even better. It is a great location with a top ranked restaurant where the service is incredible - and we went back there for poolside breakfast every day which was absolutely great.

Fabulous through and through

A marvelous experience through and through. The location is incredible, in walking distance to the village. The hotel staff was super friendly and helpful. The rooms were huge and updated. Loved the entire setting. Anyone who has been to the San Ysidro Ranch in Santa Barbara, CA, will understand when I say, it's a mini-version of that location.

I would definitely want to stay again.for a high-the Wi-Fi connection was problematic- I would expect more from a high end property. A Jewel in Provence

This is a fantastic hotel. The setting is heavenly and the grounds are beautiful and well maintained. Our room, upstairs with a balcony, had very nice furnishings and was very quiet and restful. Bathroom is perfect. It is usually hot in the summer in France and this hotel has the best air conditioning of any hotel I have stayed at in France yet. The service is also impeccable and the food at all restaurants is wonderful. I have stayed at many Relais & Chateaux properties, none better than Baumiere. Can't wait to go back.

The property is beautiful . Reception staff are great. Julian was very helpful.
We liked the goats, the upgrade, the location.
What needs improvement is the breakfast buffet. It was substandard for a five star. The quality was not good, little variety, no service ( employees were chatting in restaurant instead of checking on guests. A number of guests had to get up from their tables to search for the waiters to request something.) the coffee was very very bad.. it seems they don’t service the machine or are using low quality coffee .
I forgot an item in the hotel when I checked out. I wasn’t contacted to tell me about it and when I found that I forgot it and emailed them, no reply.
The person who helped carry the luggage when we were checking out broke the shield on the car trunk as he was very rough opening the door. So be careful . I really liked the property, but, it needs to be worked on.

A beautiful property in Provence. Hotel staff is very knowledgeable and extremely helpful, the rooms are gorgeous and the location was perfect for exploring the nearby village of Baux-de-Provence. The restaurant Carbo had excellent food and we thoroughly enjoyed our dinner there. For those looking for more casual dining options you will have to go to the nearby villages where there are some great options. Loved our stay there!

Luxury hotel with impressive views. Choose it specially if you wish to enjoy the hotel rather than driving all day long around the area. There is an awesome castle 1 mile away: Le Baux Castle. The Cabro dOr restaurant was exquisite, however, waiters were average in their training of La Carte.

A delightful property in Les Baux de Provence

We celebrated our 25th wedding anniversary here, and would return in a heartbeat. The property has wonderful garden areas with ample places to relax, several pools, a spa and two elegant restaurants. Service and personnel are top notch. Saint Remy is a short drive down the road and provence villages easily accessible by car. Truly a memorable stay!

Would not return despite the beautiful setting

This is in an amazing setting and the grounds are gorgeous. I didn't like the layout of the property. There is no \"common area\" where you feel you can be with others. So when you are in your room, you feel a bit isolated... the room we had was very cold and decorated very averagely. We ate at Cabro D'or and both of us sent our main dishes back because they were too tough to cut through with a knife--not to mention how overpriced the food was. There is piece of wood cut out on all of the doors where they added in a new key system and never painted the wood-just tacky. Our room had a bizarre smell. The bed was so uncomfortable. This place needs work. No idea how it's a 5 star. Oh, and the night we got there, it was freezing and the \"heat hadn't been turned on yet\".

The resort has amazing grounds, great pools and excellent service. The food at the restaurant we are at (Gabro d'or) was very good. Due to unforseen circumstances we could not East at the restaurant that has 2 Micheline stars, but we heard that one is much better. The accommodations were a bit dated, but clean and comfortable. There is a lot to do and see at Les Baux. Highly recommend.

We started our two weeks annual Provence vacation at Ousteau Baumanier. Had exceptional dinner, good night sleep, wonderful walk in their garden and succulent breakfast before heading to Luberon for two weeks vacation. This was our second stay and we truly enjoyed the resort.

Beautiful Property and Delicious Meal

Beautiful property, lavender and flowers in bloom, wonderful scents. The room was comfortable, but it was a bit concerning to return to the building after dinner and discover that the hall lights were turned off, we couldn't locate a switch. My friend and I are both in our 60s and travel regularly. We opted for dinner on the property at the 'less expensive' restaurant (there is also a Michelin starred restaurant on the property). We chose the 6 course prix fixe, wonderful service and a delicious meal in a stunning surrounding. We opted to drive to Les Baux for shopping, but it would be reasonable to walk; however, please know that the area is very hilly and no cars are allowed in the shopping area. I was disappointed to not be offered a glass of bubbly at check-in and breakfast was not included in the price of the room, a rather high price, but the upkeep on the property must be quite expensive. The wifi was quite fast.

Nice stay. Great location.We had a spacious room , bed, table, couch, chairs on the second floor with a patio that was close to pool and their restaurant Cabro d'Or. Bathroom was a nice size and had tub with shower. Bed was fine but firm. Pillows could be improved.
Grounds are beautiful. A flash light is helpful at night to get back to room as stairway to our room was dark. We ate dinner at Cabro d'Or and our meal was excellent .Well worth the price. Buffet for breakfast was just ok and a high price. Staff at restaurant were very nice and attentive.
We took a hotel shuttle to the gourmet restaurant. It's not walking distance. Food there is amazing.
Overall this an excellent hotel in a great location to see the town and to tour.

This is a beautiful property and the staff were very welcoming and gracious. We were upgraded to the Manoir, a suite like space that opened on what appeared to be our own private garden courtyard. It was beautiful, secluded, charming, as was the rocky hilltop town of Les Baux, with its interesting village of shops and medieval castle ruins.

Stunning hotel at the foot of a Medieval fortress.

Baumaniere may well be the highlight of our trip to Provence. The hotel is divided into two distinct parts: the older building located at the foot of the fortress and the newer collection of buildings, a 5 minute drive down the valley. We loved staying in the older part because it is within walking distance of the fortress and the little village that is situated between there and the hotel. However, one needs to drive down to the larger, newer part of the hotel for the breakfast buffet or to dine at the less formal of their two restaurants, \"La Cabro d'Or\".

We stayed at the main house which is next to the Michelin 2 star restaurant... This is much easier because u can walk to town in less than 10 minutes...
The Michelin star restaurant food is to die for but very expensive like 200 euros per person without wine.... The room is divine with mix of Provençal antique furniture and large bathroom...
When u check in u have to go to the other compound for reception which has the other rooms... The grounds are exquisite with 3 swimming pools, organic gardens, tennis courts n spa!
Ull love this experience as a great relais chateau hotel!
Ps the gourmet breakfast is divine!

Beautiful property, OK service.

Baumaniere is a beautiful property. The pools and gardens were seriously fantastic, although overrun by mosquitos in September. The service at the hotel was OK, the breakfast was served outside our room and the setting was beautiful, but the food arrived cold. Also, our room was not ready when we arrived and we were told there was no where to eat at the hotel (it was 1pm). Turns out there were snacks being served at the restaurant at the hotel property, and we would have preferred having a drink and a snack there vs hiking up into town. Wish we had been told correct information.

The Oustau was delicious, although incredibly expensive (which is to be expected). The service there was fantastic, and the presentation was magical.

This is not at the original baunmiere hotel location further up towards les baux
The hotel do not spell this out in their marketing their are two locations to this hotel

The breakfast price of €29 for bread fruit and eggs is outrageous . Just ask for coffe and bread and it's reasonable
Dinner also over priced at c€80 each course and not gastronomic standard
The Michelin star prices at the premier restaurant at baunmiere closer to $500 per couple with cheapest wine

Advice is to go to nice quality French restaurants close by in massaune. Wonderful

The situation is beautiful and the room was spacious (once slept in by the Queen) and well equipped in all respects other than the shower over the bath, which was a disaster. The staff were very polite and tried to be helpful, but the reception staff particularly were too busy to be closely attentive our particular needs for help (stolen luggage). If you choose to eat in a 2 star Michelin restaurant you have no right to complain about the price, but you do need to be aware that the approach to food is as much about performance art as about eating. Would we recommend it? Only to friends with a relaxed attitude towards normal considerations of value for money.

Amazing property and surroundings! Awesome stay!

Amazing start to our Provence trip. Service was amazing from Audrey at check in to Marie the owners daughter who took us for a stroll around the property! We initially had a room on the top floor of the manor building but as I am 7 months pregnant and have a 17 month old toddler we were upgraded for our last two nights to a junior suite on the ground floor. We had dinner at both restaurants and the food and service were exceptional. Will definitely return!

i think quaint would be the polite way to describe baumaniere. they make a great deal about having been friends with jean cocteau and picasso and the like; while that may be the case the property hasn't really kept up with the times or its competitors. likewise the menu at l'oustau is pretty dated, the owner walks around looking a little tired. that said enjoyed their wine list, which actually benefits from the property's age...(!)

A perfect place from which to explore Provence.

Oustau de Baumaniere exceeded our expectations in every respect. Everything was a pleasant surprise. The grounds are beautiful and complimented the nice rooms. Everything, including the service and the staff was impeccable, yet incredibly comfortable and welcoming. We dined at La Cabro d'Or and are still talking about the incredible we had there. Every course, every item was more than you would expect with one pleasant surprise after another. From Oustau de Baumaniere is was easy to explore vineyards in the region or other towns such as St. Remy, Arles or Aix-en-Provence. Les Baux de Provence itself is truly unique and beautiful. I have already recommended Oustau de Baumaniere to others and look forward to returning.

In the Baumaniere dining room, service was unexpedly inattentive, cuisine and wine questions went unanswered on several occasions. This was not the case in the Cabro d'Or dining room where service and cuisine were top-notch. I fear the loss of a Michelin Star at the Oustau if our experience is widely shared.

The hotel is located right beneath Chateau des Baux which is an important tourist attraction. Restaurant is extremely good although it'd say the price they charge is consistently high so tenants have to commit themselves to having good food (at a high cost) during their stay. Facilities is ok --- they have a nice tennis court but they charge their guests for using their fitness studio which is an issue unless you are happy to swim everyday.

Baux en Provence - Delightful

Overall, the Ostau de Baumaniere falied achieve 5 full stars in our books.. Sure the setting is spectacular and the service eas very attentive and first rate, but the facilities themselves are a bit tired. Yes, it is in an old, old, old building, but it seems the carpet hasn't been replaced in quite a few years, but more important was that the bed was simply second rate. It, and a sister hotle nearby, the Preuire, was revovated at much the same time, using exactly the same furnishings. The real downer was the two twin beds placed side by side to give the impression of a double, when in reality, the bed is too soft to offer back support, and the two of you had better not swing towards each other in the middle! The small rooms for a premium price - another downer. But service was first class. But, once at Baux, you will quickly overlook the small rooms and the uncomfortable beds...the overall setting is magnificent.

modern motel room on historic property

This hotel informed us when we complained about our modern motel room down an unmarked dirt road away from any hotel services that we should have known everything about this from the hotel's website. So, we want you to know that you should book this hotel if you like suburban US motel rooms without windows that can be opened and you want to get in the car to have any meal, a swim, or a drink. You will be randomly assigned by the hotel to a room location--and you better like it! We have stayed at numerous Chateaux and Relais properties around the world--all charming, warm and welcoming.
Our room had no charm and we selected this hotel thinking it would meet the Relais and Chateau standard. We were never told that there was another restaurant on the property, so we ate all of our meals at the main restaurant that is excellent but very expensive.
We recommend you book the best room in the hotel next door and eat at this hotel's restaurant one night. Unless, of course, you prefer modern suburban motel rooms --then this is your place.

We were very disappointed with the room considering the price that we paid - we had stayed in a far better room in Italy the previous week for almost half the price. The room was also located nowhere near the main part on the hotel including the swimming pool. And as far as the restaurant was concerned - the prices were way out of our range, but we did find a number of very good restaurants locally.

Pour moi les points d'amélioration sont les suivants:
J'ai été déçu que l'accès au spa soit payant et en plus pour une durée de 45min d'autant plus que j'ai trouvé le prix de la chambre très cher pour une chambre très petite, sombre et sans extérieur.

Für einen Besuch der Carrières des Lumières ideal, weil zu Fuss in ein paar Minuten erreichbar.
Dort ist ganz schlecht ein Parkplatz zu finden.
Anlage wunderschön und vielseitig: 2 Restaurants, Boutiquen für Mode, Keramik, Schokolade und Wein.
