Love this hotel so much. There was some confusion over the room that I thought I had booked, but that was really my fault rather than the hotel, but they went to all lengths to make sure we were happy - and we were. Staff are super friendly, not just in the hotel but the restaurant for breakfast and in the attached pub next door. Such a great stay - thank you for looking after us :)

Quirky diuble "The Botanist' was lovely, very clean with fresh biscuits and tea and coffee provided. We were made aware of where we could find extra milk, coffee, towels etc by the reception staff. All staff were very accommodating. The bar was very pleasant with the staff giving good advice about cider and wine. Roast dinner was great - a real show stopper!

We had a fantastic stay at the Bath Hotel. We were welcomed warmly and shown to our room, which was clean, warm and comfy. We ate in the hotel restaurant and the service we received was fabulous. The staff were so friendly and kind, and we were able to order from either menu which gave us such a wide choice! The food was delicious and we were well looked after. Breakfast was delicious with a great choice and again friendly service and attention. We will definitely be back! Thank you

Great location, comfort and service

This is not only a lovely hotel in a great location. The young team go out of their way in every regard: great, local food in their restaurant, very comfy bed and rooms, and the small things which make a difference: I note for example their sustainability efforts: biscuits and condiments in the room in refillable glasses, same with bathroom stuff (including toilet paper by ‘who gives a crap’), fresh milk in a fridge on the landing - no plastic or waste anywhere. Why can’t all hotels follow?

Quirky hotel with beautiful decor.

Lovely quirky hotel. Staff were fab. Food was lovely and best mussels I’ve had, beating many good French restaurants.
Bed was slightly uncomfortable as sloping a bit one way and a pillow menu would be good as I prefer really soft down ones. Good hot showers and loved the windows opening wide as sleep with fresh air even in winter so suited us well.
Loved the lounge to sit in quietly as well on a drizzly day. 10/10

Lovely historic hotel in Lynmouth right by the water. Be aware that check-in ends at 10pm and front doors lock at 11pm, but staff are friendly and helpful if you need any accomodation around that. We called and were given instructions on how to get our keys on arrival after 10pm. As for our stay, the hotel was comfortable, quiet and lovely. The breakfast options were quite nice as well.

Lynmouth Anniversary

Bijou but perfectly formed and very comfortable. We mentioned the curtain rail was coming away from the wall and they were on it.
The food and service was fantastic. We ate in the pub next door both nights and were very pleased with the standard of the food. The only critique was the meat pie, although tender and full of meat, it was very dry as though under a heat lamp for a while.
The staff were super helpful and friendly.
It is slightly more pricey than some hotels but the view and position contribute to this. A quality small hotel and would go again.

First impressions of an old fashioned hotel are immediately dispelled once you scratch below the surface. My beautiful clean and tidy room could not offer more. Good quality bed, nice decor, up to date bathroom with amazing shower, heated towel rail, extractor fan etc.

The hotel is attached to a colourful pub next door and annexed by a dining room. Pub and restaurant staff are cheerful and professional.

Small menu offers a good variety altho I'm must say, my creamy fish pie was a little dry for my taste. Great selection of ales and vino.

Location of course is A1 and the hotel overlooks the harbour. The car park is reserved for Suite residents. When I looked out of my window this morning it was empty bar one car. On arrival I failed in my request to squeeze in on my non Suite status but there is easy parking on the street which is effectively free from 4pm until 10am.

I would say the prices are favourable compared to the Rising Sun and criminally neglected Rock House. Neither have the vibrancy of The Bath Hotel.

Fantastic breakfast, everything else fine.

Breakfast was an absolute highlight. Sadly the bin in my room was not emptied on arrival and there was hair on the bathroom floor that was not mine and a stain on one of the towels. The hotel reception was rarely open. Wi-Fi was appalling and often bordering on non-existent so couldn't do any work in the room, plus the dressing table wouldn't house a laptop. Nice quirky decor but the room was unbelievably hot and the lights flickered when something hummed outside the room. The stay was fine, just not better than that. Paid for off-site parking, and could imagine trying to park during peak season would be tricky.

Loved the boutique decor and quirky nature of the building. The setting is perfect, right by the waterfront. Parking is a bit of an issue, so don't come back to the hotel until 4 pm, when parking is better ( fewer daytrippers). Bed was hard and pillows were not very comfortable, but that was only my taste. Breakfast was very good with a nice buffet and choices for cold and hot cooked food.

A used towel was left in the room. The bathroom door is below the normal door height, subsequently l banged my head more than once. There should be signage above the doorway advising this.
The breakfast for us was below average, the cooked elements were left far too long in there metal heat dishes.

Short Stay In Lynmouth

We booked for a 2-day short break in Lynmouth.

Lovely rooms, limited parking, one horse town

The communal areas suggest it's a bit fusty, but the room we stayed in was lovely (Aviary). Staff were excellent, as was breakfast. We didn't eat in the evening so can't comment. It wasn't so much of a restaurant as a bar with dining (but there's not much choice in Lynmouth, so eating here may be the best option apart from fish and chips from the Esplanade). We were fortunate to arrive out of season because it meant we were able to use allocated parking bays usually reserved for people staying in suites. However, it was the first we knew that parking for other room types was not available, so beware. There's not much in Lynmouth apart from spectacular views, so unless you're on a walking holiday, you might want to stay just the night, as we did.

Room did seem a little small when we first arrived but was actually fine for our 3 night stay. So nice to have free access to bottles of chilled fresh milk and water for use in the rooms, along with a selection of other room essentials. Loved the unique and slightly bohemian décor throughout the hotel. The staff were friendly, very helpful and did their best to accommodate any requests. The Dinner menu was fine but would benefit from a little more variety in the dishes. Maybe more salad options for the summer months, a risotto dish or Kedgeree which could double up as a breakfast option, Smoked haddock with horseradish sauce and a few leaves as a starter or add some new potatoes and a slightly larger serving for a main course. Charlie Fridays café in Lynton has some interesting dishes. All the food was well cooked, portion sizes were quite substantial and good value for money. Overall a very enjoyable short break, in a lovely location would definitely come back again and would recommend to family and friends.

Lovely place by the sea.

The hotel is very nice, close to the harbour and cery well decorated. Room was clean and tastefully decorated also. Our only issue was that it took 1 hour and 15 mins for our breakfast to be served from ordering. This delayed our day out considerably. We were told that it was down to only having one chef and having over 30 covers to cater for. Saying that the breakfast was very good, freshly cooked and tastes excellent.

Friendly small hotel

Well maintained hotel in the centre of Lynmouth. Very friendly and helpful staff. We stayed in the Railway Room - comfortable with sea/river view.
We booked knowing we would be restricted because of the pandemic and anticipating that this, and the weather, would limit what we could do.
The hotel have taken lots of steps to ensure safety advice is met.
Enjoyed our stay but a few things to note:
* Our room - a double - only had 1 chair. As pubs shut at 10pm and we didn't want to overmix with other people, we spent quite a bit of time in our room. Fine ... except that 2 chairs would have made this more comfortable.
* Spacious clean bathroom with lots of hot water and toiletries but why the small bath towels? Big fluffy bath towels are a must for me and are one of my criteria for assessment.
* Ate in the Ancient Mariner (next door). Food generally good (if a little overpriced), amazing chips but avoid the veggie burger. Dry and so overcooked I couldn't even cut it!
* Heavy duvet made the bed too hot ... lighter duvet and tgrow would have given us more flexibility.

nice break

The stay was lovely but unfortunately the restaurant service was lacking behind the hotel service. Trying to book a table for dinner was extremely difficult with no confirmation received as promised by the young lady following requests at 9am, 11am and 6pm being unsure if the booking was complete leaving us uncertain of dinner. We did receive dinner which was lovely food but in the bar area, this was the only downside to our short stay and will have no bearing on us returning in the future.

The room was very comfortable but required a mirror near to a socket so that Ladies can dry their hair or use tongs looking into a mirror. We had an evening meal the first evening, which was acceptable but lacked a variation of food for vegetarians. Breakfast on both mornings put Fawlty Towers to shame.

Lovely short break

We had a wonderful stay at The Bath Hotel for 2 nights, the room we stayed in had recently been refurbished, was very clean and comfortable. The hotel staff were very friendly and made us feel welcome. The hotel is in a great location and within walking distance of everywhere in Lynmouth. Unfortunately we were unable to park at the hotel as they only have a few spaces, however there is a large car park in the town where you can leave you car during the day and overnight (very reasonably priced). We ate in the restaurant adjoining the hotel and the food was delicious. Overall we couldn't fault the hotel and would stay again in the future. Thank you for having us!

Great hotel to stay in Lynmouth & Lynton

Hotel Bath is a great little boutique hotel in Lynmouth. Conveniently located in with easy access to shops and cafes. Easy access to local walking trails and the funicular to Lynton. Definitely spring for the parking right by the hotel--only a few spots, but big enough for a large SUV. Rooms were cozy and bathrooms appear to be more recently updated.

Lucy the manager made us feel very welcome, and couldn’t do enough to ensure our stay was enjoyable.
Food was good, service faultless and the Bar next door was great too.

An appearance for design rather than function

The welcome was not exactly warming. Bags left in our room from previous guests was a little concerning and quickly removed to another room.

The room had an awesome view of the harbour and it’s location is utterly faultless. The hotel looks very nice in photos and the attention to detail in public facing ascetics but when you get behind the front desk, you can’t help but notice that the high standards appearance fails to continue. Within the stay experience, you’re only left with disappointment at the lack of attention to detail to the simple things.

The mattress felt like it hadn’t been replaced in 20 years, far too soft to support any human skeleton for a good night sleep. The shower had to be held in place when having a shower and considering that our room most likely was the most naturally lit room in the entire hotel, the curtains offered little black out assistance at the crack of dawn.

For £150 a night in the Superior Room would be worth it if the management could keep the basic functionality of a stay experience functioning, especially if you’re getting charged premium prices,

Breakfast was woeful and the staff didn’t have a clue. It doesn’t look like a 2-star hotel but the experience certainly validates it’s lack of stars for comfort. Would have said something when leaving but when the reception staff doesn’t care or ask how our stay was, why should we bothered to say anything?

Wouldn’t recommend staying here unless better options are unavailable.

Room (21) had a truly magnificent view! However: Hotel felt like Marie Celeste - Bar not opened at all on our 2 days visit. Reception only manned sporadically. No hairdryer in room so at 7.45am (with wet hair!) tried ringing reception from a phone in the hall (no phone in room) only to discover nobody on duty until 9am! Restaurant being re-decorated so we had to walk next door to pub for breakfast. This is fine but we were not told prior to arrival when I rang to book breakfast, neither were we told about car parking which we should have reserved at a charge therefore no space for us on arrival. Breakfast was presented nicely enough but with very cheap ingredients also 1st day - Full English consisted of usual but only 1 rasher of bacon and sausage was extremely pale looking which we left as it looked so underdone. Day two I asked to swap my sausage for another rasher of bacon (thinking that I would only otherwise get one rasher) and for my fried egg to be flipped over. This time i got 3 rashers of bacon which was lovely but no flipped over egg and when we asked for toast were given only one slice each each! Very inconsistent. However staff were pleasant.
