Breakfast menu was fresh and good selection of breakfast, on dinner was lovely and tasty food, definatley recomend.
Staff nice and helpfull.😊
Property Facilities would need improving, lovely grounds and views, but some places (including a few Lodges) are abandoned and would need some invesment to put back in service.

One night Business stay. Beautiful hotel. Excellent breakfast. Bar staff friendly. Pleasantly surprised by the underfloor heating in the bathroom. Location is a little remote so you will need your own form of transport but i wouldn't let that put you off staying in this lovely hotel

The hotel is beautiful, with lovely grounds, spacious rooms, and a comfortable bed/sofa. The food in the restaurant at dinner and breakfast was delicious. We had a good stay, but there were quite a few negative points. Service was very slow in general in the restaurant and my breakfast was forgotten about entirely. No milk is provided for tea in the rooms, which is frustrating after a long drive! I had also requested a twin room, but was given a double instead with no notification. Staff were generally helpful, despite these downsides, and we had a nice stay overall.

The grange is surrounded by beautiful countryside, it is quiet , striking property Our room and en-suite were huge and on the ground floor of the original house. There was plenty of parking close to the property.
Breakfast was brilliant and nothing was too much trouble. Staff were very welcoming and helpful
We stayed in room one , although huge and clean there were a couple of areas that needed attention , the curtains were ripped in places and one had come of the curtain track and the grout in the shower needed cleaning in places. Otherwise the room was spotless

The general house keeping for the hotel rooms was not good for this hotel. There was no attention to detail and gaps in room provisions were too many (no milk, no hand towels)

We stayed overnight in one of the Cottage Suites, which are detach chalets in the grounds. These consist of a large bedroom with adjoining bathroom.
The first thing we noticed on entering the accommodation was that it was cold. Apart from that our first impressions were that everything was smart and clean. There is underfloor heating with a wireless thermostat on the wall, so we turned it up. After a couple of hours however it was still cold. On our way out we mentioned this to reception. On returning later we found that the room was too hot; the thermostat reading 25°C. We only wanted to warm the room up a little, but this was stifling. I think the thermostat was broken and in our absence the staff may have manually overriden the temperature. We soon opened some small windows, one of which just flopped shut. In the morning the temperature read 25°C.
There was a large smart TV on the wall, but we couldn't get it to connect to the WiFi, so just ordinary TV was available.
I found the lighting in the bathroom to be poor, even to shave by.
Breakfast was pretty good and our cooked breakfasts were very nice. The orange juice, jam and yoghurts were nothing special though. There could also have been slightly more of a selection of fresh fruit. I think with a few tweeks the breakfast could have been excellent.
The staff were helpful and friendly, but maybe there just needs to be a bit more attention to detail.
I'd definitely go back, but it probably wouldn't be my first choice.

Great location for exploring the North Coast of Devon.
For this reason alone we would recommend Kentisbury Grange.
Restaurant was closed because they were having a new floor fitted these things happen but was disappointing
however found a great pub for food, the Black Venus, a short distance away.
Room was spacious and clean but was let down by the condition and fitting of the curtains!

Kentisbury Grange is a stunning venue, our garden suite was clean, well equipped with a wonderfully large and comfortable super king size bed that we didn't want to leave.
It's very conveniently situated for easy access to lynmouth to the east and woolacombe/Ilfracombe in the west with easy access. We had a fantastic couple of nights for my partners birthday and would 100% stay again. I didn't get their names but the two young ladies who were there for breakfast each morning were fantastic considering the hotel had issues with the kitchen because of a flood, which I will say I was notified of before hand by phone which I appreciated.

Unfortunately, I was very disappointed by the cleanliness of the Garden Suite that we stayed in. Upon arrival, we noticed that there were cobwebs, spiders, black mould, dog hairs and marks on the duvet. We requested that our room was serviced the next day, however, we returned in the evening to find that it was the exact same and the staff had just replaced the water and soap. The grounds are lovely and the breakfast was great but I would recommend viewing this as a step up from glamping rather than a 4 star hotel if you are considering booking.

We were actually very disappointed. Firstly we hadn’t realised that Checkin was at 4.00 and checkout at 10.00am, which is contrary to the majority of hotels we stay in. This of course was our fault for not checking in more detail….. we waited for an hour and a half to be able to access our accommodation.
The accommodation itself was ok, but the area appeared very neglected …..the grass in front of our cabin was overgrown and the roads had numerous potholes. The exterior of the cabin was very dirty, although the internal space was thankfully ok.
The crisps in the mini bar were out of date, which added to our impression of neglect. The photograph on the website of the exterior of the accommodation we booked looked very different.
When asking for help to book a taxi to the wedding we were attending, we were told to book any in the area….. most hotels would do this for you.
Having given our negative comments, we would like to say that the restaurant food was very good and it was a pleasure to be served a breakfast option rather than serving ourselves at a buffet.
We think the concept of the accommodation layout was good, it has definitely seen better days.

We stayed in the Classic room within the beautiful manor house, and overall had a pleasant experience. The on-site restaurant served a lovely dinner, and breakfast the next morning was delicious. Fresh, well-prepared, and a great start to the day.

There were a few small issues in the room: a couple of light bulbs weren’t working (one in the room, one in the en-suite), the bed wasn't very comfy, the en-suite was very warm with no way to adjust the temperature, and we were only provided with half a toilet roll and no spares. These didn’t ruin the stay, but a bit more attention to detail would have made it even better.

I had an overnight stay and was very happy with it. The hotel and grounds are lovely. The room was clean and adequate but maybe a little ‘tired’ in some areas.
We ate at the restaurant on site. It was clean and there was a good menu choice. I feel although the food was lovely, we had to send the starter back as it was not cooked properly. The staff were really apologetic and were really supportive in this matter.
What I loved most about my stay was the staff! For a young team, doing all the checking in and waiting, they were simply fantastic! Friendly, polite and very professional! So recognition for them all is warranted.
I would happily stay again, thank you!! 😊

A stay with a hint of grandeur

Beautiful peaceful setting with a luxury feel. The gardens at a sense of grandeur to the grounds. Plenty of onsite parking.

Our room was in the main house. Comfortable king size bed with a very spacious elegant ensuite with large walk-in shower.

The restaurant is based in the Coach House and serves an extensive breakfast menu, beautifully presented and totally delicious. Snacks and meals are available at lunchtimes and evenings but were a little expensive, as were the bar and bedroom mini bar tariffs.

The Grange is a little remote so you will need your own transport. 20 minute drive to lovely town of Lynmouth.

Disappointing Experience for a Very Special Occasion

We stayed at this hotel over the weekend as bridesmaids for our best friend Kathy, who had booked to stay here with her partner Marcus for their wedding weekend. Sadly, from start to finish, the service and management were a huge letdown.

Communication from the admin and management team was consistently poor and caused unnecessary stress in the lead-up to what should have been the happiest weekend for Kathy and Marcus. Kathy had booked a suite for both Friday and Saturday night, and the restaurant which was intended to host her wedding party for a celebratory meal on the Saturday. Despite this being arranged well in advance, the lack of communication and follow-through from the management left her and Marcus in an incredibly difficult situation.

While the head chef tried to salvage the arrangements in the final month, he then informed Kathy just days before the wedding (on the Wednesday) that he had parted ways with the venue on bad terms. This left Kathy and Marcus completely stranded, having to make last-minute catering arrangements—something no couple should be dealing with days before their wedding.

In terms of accommodation, both suites (ours and Kathy’s) were disappointing. The rooms were dusty and had cobwebs in the windows. Despite the heatwave, the towel rail heaters had been left on, making the rooms unbearably hot. In Kathy’s suite—the room where she was meant to get ready for her wedding and spend her first

There were so many plus points about this stay .
1 the accommodation is gorgeous masses of space and beautifully decorated with thoughtful touches .
2 the staff are wonderful there super friendly and helpful .
3 The food we had lunch and breakfast was really tasty .

There were a few issues which stopped us marking it perfect .

1 it was a warm day so we didn’t try the hot tub till the evening . There was no temp on it but it wasn’t very hot. It had hair in it seemed dirty . We also got bombarded with flies the minute we got in so only in it ten mins . We paid extra £40 for that so I would say not worth it .

2 We paid for breakfast included in the stay . We went at 9 and they had already run out of mushrooms . We also asked for toast but that didn’t materialise .

3 when checking out we were told we had a bill for £82 which we queried as breakfast was included and had paid our lunch bill separately and didn’t eat there in the evening due to it being quite pricy . They said that would sort it but felt very awkward as had paid upfront for the room .

All in all it’s a beautiful place quite remote and a good 20 mins to any kind of beach or eating facilities but gorgeous accommodation .

Firstly the location and staff were 1st class, the main house is old so i do take this into account, but the room was boiling hot with only an old fan to cool you down, internet was non functional with no phone signal, finally breakfast did not start until 8am - not good for a business guest,
I think with some minor tweaks this could be a top location and i would stay again.

We had a very enjoyable stay in the hotel. All the staff were freindly and helpful. Food was well cooked and presented big portions The hotel was set in lovely grounds. Also hotel was in a good location easy for Barnstable Lynton, Lynmouth and National Trust properties. Would not hesitate to stay there agsin.

We stayed here for 4 nights and booked a luxury room. Our mistake for not reading the property details as there was no air-con and it was very uncomfortable during the nights without this as we ended up with quite warm weather which was a bonus for the days that we did stay.
When we arrived and checked in we noticed that the door was not closing properly which was resolved straight away and dirty mugs had been left there too, again this was resolved straight away but no apology for this.
The bed seemed comfy but one of us did end up with slight back pain.
We requested room service on a daily basis and fresh towels or toilet rolls were put in the room. Other than this nothing else was topped up. The tea was low or next to nothing and the bedding wasn't changed even though we accidently dropped a strawberry on this and there was a little stain on there.
The breakfast was okay. They had no vegetarian sausages from day 2 and the eggs were not how we asked for on the last morning. I was very pleased to hear that they had oak milk but the latte was not good. Hot drinks apart from the hot chocolate were not good.
We enjoyed our stay here and may return in winter months unless air-con is installed before we go again. A fan could be an option to offer your guests.

Beautiful garden areas and our room in the main house was comfortable, clean and tastefully furnished. Staff very helpful and breakfast good. Check in not until 4pm and then check out at 10am; would be nice if extended. No hot water in the morning (also heard two other rooms report this issue) which spoilt an otherwise enjoyable stay.

Really lovely stay here. Staff were friendly, helpful and worked together well as a team which shone through. We stayed in a cottage room in the garden which was well appointed, clean, spacious and had an outdoor verandah area for sitting. It was peaceful and well maintained. Other parts of the grounds were not so well kept but as a whole it was fine. A little off the beaten track but the food was excellent and generous so no need to go elsewhere.

Fantastic setting with really well finished, self contained units comprising of the bedroom with sofa and vanity table. A fridge was provided with mini-bar items. A few too many spiders for my liking but we were in the countryside. Some work had been carried out on the bathroom ceiling but a patch job had been done to cover it. The bed was comfy, shower was great and the breakfast in the restaurant was top notch. I can imagine how lovely this would be to stay at in the Summer.

Fantastic stay, not to miss out on!

Beautiful place to stay with really professional and super friendly staff. The whole place feels relaxed and really well thought out. Brilliant food, lovely accommodation. We had a great time! Only problem was the very thin duvet but I’m sure if we had realised before bedtime and told them they would have changed this for us. We managed by turning up the heating a little and sleeping in jumpers. Highly recommend this spot for anyone, honestly it’s brilliant!

Lovely place and surroundings with very friendly staff. The garden studio was lovely. The only couple of negative points I had were: the blinds and window areas were very dirty with cobwebs in the window area near the bed, so I didn't open the windows.
The room smelt like dogs in places. I'm aware pets are allowed but I thought a thorough clean would take place before the next guest. It wasn't great for my asthma symptoms. Apart from this, it was all fine :-)

A lovely hotel with friendly staff. It had obviously been made over to a very high standard but the building is now beginning to show signs of wear. We stayed in the Manor House and the carpet on stairs needed attention. That said, the room, towels and fittings were quality, the grounds were lovely and well maintained.

Gorgeous hotel, great food, top class staff.

Beautiful hotel which maintains its original charm yet has all the modern conveniences. Luxurious room with amazing bathroom. Coach house restaurant is lovely and breakfast was top drawer. Staff could not have been more helpful. A lovely stay and will definitely be back.

The lodge was spacious very modern and very well maintained. The hot tub outside was a gem we arrived it was windy and raining but the hot tub stay very hot indeed even after staying in it for over 2 hours it was still hot. The huge bath tub inside is huge and is insulated. The whole room was a hidden gem in the country side. Staff was very welcoming and couldn't do enough for you. Breakfast in the coach house was very nice. An open space with luxury at it's best. We will be staying here again in the near future.

Perfect romantic stay

A Perfect romantic getaway! After reading good reviews we decided to book & we were not disappointed. The house is beautiful & we had the comfiest super king sized bed & an enormous en-suite with free standing bath. It really was a luxury stay & the food was fabulous. We stayed for our anniversary & the Kentisbury Grange staff made us feel so special. I Would definitely return!

Nice couple weekend

1st time staying at Grange Garsden Suite . Rooms are huge by hotel standards both bedroom and bathroom are well equipped, modern and very airy. Breakfast served in the barn ( very pleasant setting)was excellent both in Quality and quantity. Ate at the restaurant on only one of our two nights and again were very happy with both quality and quantity of the food.
Service was very good throughout our stay, although I get the impression that staffing is tight, restaurant staff looked really tired, busy didn’t let it affect their demeanour.
Can recommend and would stay again.

Great accommodation.

The accommodation was perfect, a lovely cottage with a super en-suite. Nice touch of even a little Christmas tree to welcome us to the room. The breakfast was lovely too, but a little salty on the hollandaise sauce for the eggs royal, but might be a preference thing.

Gorgeous hotel, our room was superb - very spacious and comfortable. Huge comfortable bed and big bathroom with beautiful free standing bath and large powerful shower. Breakfast was delicious with a good choice on the menu and the staff were friendly and professional. Stayed for a treat on our last night on way home from holiday in Cornwall - wish we could have stayed longer!

Lovely accommodation - great service

We stayed in a cottage in the gardens and it was lovely. 5 star quality with a super bathroom. I thought it was really good value for money. The restaurant was good although not so atmospheric, but tasty well presented food with excellent service.

Very good. Good value for money. Beautiful location. Nice restaurant. Red wine stain on our carpet but room was fantastic otherwise - extremely large with a large bathroom. Overall very pleased especially for the money, around £120 for the night for a twin room.
