The staff were very welcoming. The room was comfortable and spotless. Bathroom even had heating. Breakfast was included and there was a great choice. Serene location but a few minutes to the centro storico of Montalcino. Would recommend this accommodation to anybody visiting Tuscany.

We checked in quickly with a friendly staff. We were exhausted after driving from Rome Airport and a long flight from LAX. We purchased a bottle of wine and enjoyed the patio area. We slept from 9:00 PM till 7:00 AM. The breakfast was great with a wide selection of all breakfast food groups.

The hotel is in a great location, and our room had a partial view of the sea. The bed, unfortunately, was not as comfortable as I think it could be. It was relatively hard, and we had two double beds, rather than a full-size bed. Service was good as was the breakfast.

Only two miles from Montalcino, this was the perfect place to stay. Free parking, great views, excellent breakfast out on the patio. Our room had a private patio also. Couldn’t have asked for anything more except a heated pool. It was really cold but a lovely setting!
We stayed here for three nights while we drove around Tuscany visiting the other towns and sights. Just a short drive to Montepulciano and Bagno Vignoni. Great for visiting the local wineries also.

It’s a lovely hotel with a pool. The room and breakfast was basic, need to order cold plate (cheese and salami) with the staff.

Free parking on site and can store bicycles with them. The staffs are very friendly.

However, the internet was slow and unstable sometimes. The hotel is next to a “main” street, can be loud, especially when at the pool.

This is a lovely property centrally located to the town of Montelcino and close to fantastic wineries. It also has a beautiful view of the Tuscan hillsides from the upper deck of the pool. We also dined at their restaurant and the food was excellent. The room was comfortable, clean and roomy with french doors that open to a small outdoor terrace. We would definitely stay here again.

I will say the only issue we had was that the blanket was so thin and at the end of Sept. they don’t have heat until Oct. and it was a bit cold in the room but probably should have asked for an extra blanket.

It was fine. Our toilet didn’t work for the whole first night and we had to wait for it to be fixed when the maintenance person arrived at 9 am. Not the end of the world but also not ideal. The pool doesn’t have any sun after 5:30 pm which is a shame. We didn’t get to use it after traveling the region during the day because there was not much sun by that time. Also, it’s right on the highway so very loud. The hotel was fine enough but dated, very basic and breakfast was average at best. Definitely not the worst hotel we’ve stayed at anywhere but certainly not one of the better ones in the region charging similar prices.

Wonderful hotel in Montalcino!

We received a warm welcome by Alessandro, who made us feel right at home from the start. He was friendly, knowledgeable, and very helpful. We even met his adorable son Andrea! Our room was clean, the bed very comfortable, and the shower was great! We appreciated the roomy parking lot, although the walk into town had its ups and downs, literally. Walking into the city (about 20-30 minutes) was very pleasant, but the walk back- uphill- at some points really uphill, was a bit of a challenge. With this in mind, we decided to dine at the hotel both nights of our stay. We were not disappointed! We had the specials both night, which were delicious, and the wine choices were great! But what made our dining experience even better was the wonderful waitstaff, especially Martina. She was cheerful and overall, just lovely.
Breakfast was very good with a wide variety of choices. The cappuccino was delicious. I would highly recommend!

Really enjoyed this hotel for two nights. The staff are outstanding really lovely. The breakfast is terrific, the hotel is a kilometre walk outside the fortress but that made it nice and removed. One night we spent in the town, one night just loved our time on the property. Enjoyed it.

Very enjoyable stay

A very enjoyable 2 night stay. The staff were exceptional and we had an excellent meal in the restaurant. A great location to not only visit Montalcino but also other hill towns and the beautiful Val D'Orcia area. The pool was an added bonus! Highly recommended.

Wonderful hotel and even more wonderful restaurant

When we walked in, the lobby was very nice and bright, and the concierge was very welcoming and helpful. Because we were early for check in, he suggested a few places for lunch as well as a nearby winery. When we came back, the room was absolutely amazing. The back rooms all have a little terrace, which is great for having the infamous Brunello Montalcino wine from the region. The bathrooms are very updated, modern, and clean. I absolutely loved the toiletries--they smelled so good. My husband and I had dinner at this restaurant, and we can say, after visiting Venice, Florence, and Rome, that this was the best meal we had in Italy. We got a bottle of Brunello Montalcino wine and started with the burrata cheese and bruschetta. Absolutely heavenly. My husband got the gnocci and I got the cacao e pepe. It was like a light mac and cheese, but even more delicious. We ended the meal with a sliced steak dinner. It was just the most wonderful night, complete with perfect service that was attentive while letting my husband and I enjoy the dinner. The breakfast the next morning was delicious as well. The French bread was incredibly fresh, and sitting outside with coffee, cake, pastries, bread, cheese, and meats was divine. I would 100% recommend this place to anyone driving through Tuscany. It's worth it.

Nice to return

I’ve stayed at Hotel Sulla before and have already recommended it to many friends. The building has elevators making it easy to return too after a long hard tourist day with too many packages of acquisitions.

The staff could not be any more friendly or helpful.

It’s on the Pitti Palace side of the Arno so it’s nice and quiet. The terrace is a splendid place to relax and enjoy a view of the river with the Duomo in the background.

You need to be up for walking slightly further from the old city to stay here - but I think it’s well worth it.

Well appointed hotel with very comfortable beds and terrific hotel staff. We were fortunate to have stayed here as meeting the very knowledgeable hotel staff was a HUGE bonus for us as they were helpful in booking or recommending sights and restaurants to go to.

We were always well attended to - drinks were served in the lobby and outdoor patio area anytime you felt you needed one! The restaurant within the hotel was awesome. Food was rustic and authentic.

Our rooms were spotless clean and of good size. Our room was recently renovated with a very nice bathroom.

I would surely recommend this hotel to anyone considering a visit to Montalcino.

Charming hotel with lovely continental breakfast

A lovely little hotel that is a close drive to many great Montalcino wineries (Biondi Santi Franco, Poggio di Sotto, Castiglion del Bosco). The staff are good at offering local recommendations for food and drink. The breakfast was excellent, with plenty of cold cuts, fresh marinated tomatoes, quiches, and fresh juices such as blood orange or peach. Coffee is very decent.

Lovely Boutique Hotel

We spent 3 nights in this lovely boutique hotel, very well located near the the old city of Montalcino. From the first moment we have arrived , the owner made us feel good and comfortable. The ambience in the hotel is relaxing and good. The decor is eye fetching and in the background you can hear high quality music. Our room was lovely, comfortable and spoiling. The breakfast was rich. The specialty of the place is variety of excellent home made cakes which were delicious. We also had an exceptionally good dinner at the hotel restaurant. All in all, we heartily recommend this place and we would surely love to return to it

The hotel was very comfortable and extremely clean. Not walkable to the old town of Montalcino but a very short drive. The restaurant was closed when we were there but the young girl at the front desk gave great directions on a place to eat and the food was good.

While the hotel was very nice and the location was great, it was the service we received from the staff that sets Si Montalcino well above any of the seven other hotels we used on this trip. Kitty and Cristina both went out of their way to make our stay enjoyable.....especially setting up unforgettable winery tours. I would recommend Si Montalcino without reservation.

An exceptional experience

Friendly staff contacted us in advance to welcome us to the hotel and this high level of service was maintained throughout the stay. The hotel is a little way out of Montalcino, but that's precisely why we booked.
Such a comfortable, clean room with everything one would need. Super bathroom with a powerful shower (bliss, particularly when it's so hot outside).
The swimming pool is a particular bonus, with plenty of sun loungers - plus the sun terrace above.
Breakfast was extensive and dinner in the evening was delicious. We'd definitely stay here again and would encourage friends to visit too - I've already recommended it to one friend who is a wine buff!

Great hotel but not ideal location

Lovely hotel and staff. Even prepared our breakfast early for an early departure. Downside was the location next to the busy road which meant sitting outside or by the pool / having the windows open was not relaxing. It was also quite a distance from the centre.

Clean but too far to walk to town

I specifically stayed here because I was under the impression you could walk to Montalcino, but this is not the case because it would be unsafe to walk along this road. The hotel was clean and comfortable, but it is very loud. You can here people walking up the stairs and in the hallway. The lady at the front desk was very nice and helpful. She scheduled a wine tour for me and recommend places to visit near by.

A very beautiful little hotel. Exceptionally clean. Very helpful staff who offered wonderful suggestions on where to eat and which wineries to visit. The breakfast buffet may have been the best we had while in Italy - a great combination of sweets and savories made on the premises. The bar was open all day for espresso or drinks. Lovely sweet dog on the premises. The shower is a bit small and the only mirror is in the bathroom, but those are very minor issues.

wine tasting pit stop

We were staying in nearby Cortona for the week but scheduled a wine tasting dinner in Montalcino. Not wanting to navigate the dark windy hills of Tuscany post dinner we decided to make a spur of the moment reservation at this quaint inn. The room comfort was superior to the 'resort' that we were staying at in Cortona. And the breakfast buffet was superb!

Highly recommended!

Loved it! Travelling by car is a must as it is just outside the town of Montalcino. Quiet place with a wonderful view of the valley, very comfortable room and gargantuesque breakfast! Swimming pool is a must in July. It gets a little bit chilly at night as we are a little bit up in the mountain. Staff was wonderful and helpful and we had the most welcomed stay for our entire trip in Italy! Highly recommended. Also, the town of montalcino is a lot less touristic than Sienna and is very very lovely. Worth a detour!
