Fantastic location, spacious double room, large restaurant within the hotel was excellent for breakfast, however, the quality of the food served to me during the dinner service was appalling. Cold food that should have been hot, poorly prepared meat. Certainly not worth the price charged. The abysmal quality of the meal received was mentioned to our server, who didn’t seem interested.

Loved the setting and the ambiance. Felt like i was in a Castle.
2 things i hated was the fact that the A/C is terrible, not only in my room, but also in the room of the other couple that traveled with us. They sent maintenance personel and they said that it was ok and that its \"Regulated\" not to go above a certain number but outside was terribly hot and humid and all you want is to come to a nice cool room. The other thing was the hard cheap Matress, otherwise its one of the most beautiful places in Galicia and people are very nice and friendly.

The hotel was fabulous and staff excellent. However. Food in the bar was pretty bad, not a pizza but ham and cheese on ciabatta and an uncooked, raw and cold burger, not acceptable for this type of establishment. The noise from upstairs, which is probably throughout the hotel was getting unbearable, even ear plugs didn’t stop the sounds of banging and very loud plumbing. Amazing location, historic building and common parts immaculate.

After a long Camino walk it was nice to rest in my hotel room that had a view of the water and castle walls. The check in was lengthy and I did not feel treated like the other guests as I had just come off the trail. Service in bar was great.

Like a hotel in a museum, the Parador is a castle that sits on top of a small hill surrounded by the ocean. Old style elegance (there was a shoe horn in the closet) with amazing views (ask for an ocean view!).

Beautiful property and area but I wouldn’t stay here long if you’re traveling by yourself. I also paid for the half board option but when I went to dinner, I was told half board only covers one drink and when I went to check off, they tried to get me to pay for it anyway. Was a very confusing experience.

This is the fourth Parador I've stayed at. The beauty of its setting and grounds were exceptional. Same with the breakfast it's well known for. My room, however, was lacking. The bathroom was in need of updating, the TV didn't work (regardless of which outlet I tried), and I stayed in one of a very few rooms overlooking a courtyard and not the sea. Not as nice as the previous Paradors (Santiago, Leon, and Villafranca).

The parador was an excellent choice. Amazing location, fabulous facilities. Excellent staff, we arranged for a picnic on our last morning as we were leaving at 6 am and would miss breakfast. It was huge! A truly wonderful time we would love to return.

I’m on spaces were very cozy and inviting and ample. The breakfast buffet was delicious with lots of options, and soy milk, which was nice. A lovely stay!

Beautiful escape.

The location of the parador is stunning. We were here in November and though the weather was not very good the hotel and grounds are beautiful. It was wonderful to be tucked inside in the beautiful bar and watch the ocean outside.
The staff were all friendly and very polite. Our room was large with a very comfortable bed,seating area and great water pressure in the shower and bath. The bath towels were huge too.
Good wooden shutters on the windows helped us to get a good nights sleep.
Breakfast was amazing with plenty of choice. We thought it was very good for the cost.
This hotel has so much character it is a wonderful good value escape in the winter. We have also stayed here in the summer many years ago and loved it equally.
It is also just a short stroll down into the town of Baiona where there are numerous shops,bars and restaurants. We will definitely return.

The hotel is beautiful on the outside and throughout the restaurants but disappointing overall. We chose to stay here after our wedding and had trouble getting the front desk to agree to let us check in before 3pm so we could get to venue on time for the ceremony when they had 30 of our tyes of room in the whole hotel. They refused over the phone and I had to go in person when we arrived in Baiona to convince them to let us come in even if just an hour before check-in. We also realised that during May their air conditioning isn't on, which is unfortunate given that it is increasingly very warm during May in Pontevedra and the surrounding regions, so you have to leave the window (with a great view) open to fight off mosquitoes. The beds leave a lot to be desired, they're pretty hard and the blankets are musty. I really love the look and feel of this Parador but, unfortunately, the price point (especially for Galicia) doesn't match the level of comfort we were expecting.

Beautiful building and surroundings

The location of this hotel is amazing, it is a fortress surrounded by sea, with beautiful views of the town.
People at check in did the minimum required by their jobs, the bell captain (or anyone else) was not available to help us whit hour luggage for check in or check out.
People at the restaurant where much better.
Definitely worth the visit, expect bad service but a beautiful place.

Lovely property disappointed in staff and food

Arrived and given a room far away from reception with no real view and no internet access. After several requests to the desk and a bit of run around were moved to a smaller room with no view but at least had internet. Food in the dining room was terrible as was the service. We tried to use a coupon from another parador to get a discount on dinner but couldn't because they said we needed to make the request at dinner. It is a spectacular place but we were not happy with our experience

Rooms with a sea view are a must. The hotel is situated in a beautiful area and commands wonderful views. The walk around the old fortress walls. Is wonderful. It's a short walk into Baiona. The food in the hotel is good, but not inspiring. It's worth a walk and then the climb up to the Virxe de la Cerce.

Parador de Baionia is magical! We loved it! Our original room was an interior one but a request to the desk moved us to a magnificent sea view with the sound of the waves crashing on the rocks lulling me to sleep. We had lunch when we arrived and didn't want a large dinner so a plate of assorted cheeses and a few glasses of white wine was a perfect end to the day. Be sure to walk the sea walls and look out over the islands. Beautiful!

Resting on its laurels.

Fantastic building in a great position. Hotel rooms are well appointed and comfortable. Terrific views. However the hotel lacks amenities. There was no pool when we went (only opens in June) and the sauna and jacuzzi , despite being advertised as an amenity of the hotel, was closed. We had to pay 8 euros to have it opened and s further 12 euros for jacuzzi. This is a disgrace as the hotel website nor Expedia site mentions extra charges. When I complained to the chief receptionist he couldn't have been less interested and was bordering on rude. I eventually spoke to the general manager who agreed that it was misleading to describe the sauna and jacuzzi as an amenity if there was a charge to use it. Also the wifi was prehistoric in its slowness. I'm really not impressed.

Quickly down from 5 to 3 stars!!!

This was our second time at Baiona's Parador. We had convinced friend to pay more than they wanted and booked two rooms.
Quite unfortunately, our stay did not live up to 5 stars expectations.
The check-in was rude, totally inadequate for a luxury hotel.
When we found the room with an empty tissue box, I mentioned to the front desk. Their response was \"muy bien\" and I said \"no, muy mal\". Three hours later there was still no tissues. No apologies whatsoever.
Then, using the safe required a special card from the front desk which was not provided at check-in and they would not bring it to the room, you had to go and get it.
The check-out was with the same clerk as the check-in and sadly as rude.
There was not one word of welcome or good bye ever!
The hotel overall is still a wonderful one, just that everything can sometimes be marred by inadequate service

Baiona Paradore Dismal Menu of the Day

Have not stayed in a Paradore for six years. We previously thought Paradore dinners had a great qulity price ratio. The dinner menu of the day was a joke. Marginal at best. For 33 euros, we received marginal soup, approximately 2 ounces of sea bass and the dessert of unripe strawberries with whip cream. Hope this is an exception to the rule. On to the next Paradore...hoping for the best.

We deliberately planned our trip so we could return to the Parador after four years. This is a lovely, relaxed place to stay with magnificent views across the bay. A generous and varied breakfast is a good start to the day and drinks on the long terrace help gently unwind in the afteroon.

Fantastic Historic Castle but needs Renovation

We stayed in the Baiona Parador in August and enjoyed the rich historic character of the building, magnificent sunset views from its terrace and delicious and copious breakfasts. The rooms however are in need of a renovation; \"tired\" would be the kind term and \"shabby\" would be the unkind one. The hotel was last renovated 15-years ago and I think that it is time to invest in updating the rooms and bathrooms. On the positive side, the rooms are very large, have free (and reliable) wifi access, and the bathrooms are ample with double sinks and a shower/tub. The dinner that we had at the parador was all right (it's hard not to eat well anywhere in Spain). I would recommend the gazpacho (excellent) but was not so keen on the empanada gallega (too much pastry and a bit dry). A better bet is to head down to the historic center, which is only a 10 minute walk away, and eat at any of the many excellent tapas places ore restaurants. The staff was okay, curt but efficient. Overall, I would probably return primarily because of the magnificence of the location.

twin room allocated, staff implied its our fault. bits of strips missing in the wardrobe, shabby dirty armchair, walls marked and dirty, bath and shower corner dirty and mouldy. staff at breakfast time do not understand basic english, look and act disinterested. new room allocated but miles away, on the ground floor, large, with double bed, but the same bits missing in wardrobe, stain on the sofa, light switch broken. general malaise in the hotel. used the bar, staff call a plum cake a fruit loaf with raisins and turkish delight, if you ask anything they just raise an eyebrow- che??? at departure, staff after asking to sign credit card receipt, have not even bothered to ask basic questions and wish a safe journey or SAY GOODBYE! dismissed kind of silence. utterly disappointed.

Parador De Baiona

The location and access to the town are wonderful. The room we stayed in was nice and spacious but had been remodeled away from historic conditions. The only complaint we had was that there were only sheet curtains over the windows and that the second layer of curtains seemed to have been removed. Thus, at 6am we had the sun shining brightly into our room making it impossible to sleep. There was also a knock on our door at 9am (seems a little early for housekeeping if that is what it was).
