The staff were brilliant although he kept telling us and everyone else he was the only one in running the hotel and the bar. Our room was freezing cold and it felt like the heating had not been on in days, The main external wall was really wet and damp, this would have not been an issue had the heating been used. There were no instructions on how to heat up the room so we used google. Once the room heated up it was fine and no issue, also the following morning the damp had then dried up.

The rooms have had a make over. We had broken chair in the tv area. We tried to phone about 5 times on our way to property and no answer. The reception is not manned and you can’t get into your room even 15 mins early. Check in 4pm and no one on counter till 4pm. Breakfast starts at 8pm and doors into dining area locked till exactly 8am. Ok but would I stay again? NO

Great place to stay, we stopped for 2nights doing the Nc500 road trip and good stop for that. Got a few pubs and Black Pearl restaurant nearby which was ace :)
We had a bit of damp by the entrance hallway, which I hope they will sort out.

The Millcroft was small hotel with many stairs. Perhaps not the best for people with mobility issues, but clean and convenient. The staff was friendly and helpful.

Before we were even in the door, therecwax a notice advising people that no meals to be taken to rooms, as previous customers had left a mess! The suite was perfectly good...but kitchen area had 2 mugs..one chipped, 2 teaspoons, a kettle that wouldnt switch off, and no teatowels or basic cutlery. Bathroom fine, but toilet seat, too small and extreme wobbly!
The meal at night, and the breakfast were excellent. The staff seemed to consist of 3 girls, who were obviously multitasking...i take my hat off to them, they were extremely professional!

We stayed two nights at this hotel and it was a good place to stay. The parking lot is limited but the hotel is not too big so I don't think that will be an issue. It's located right across the way from the ocean so it has nice views. We really enjoyed the attached pub. The food was decent. The room was on the small side but had everything that you need. Overall, a good hotel to stay at!

I book this property in reviews and probably my own fault, but arrived early to checkin and was greated with we don’t check in until 3.45pm. Asked is bar open and response was not until 5pm. Asked where could we go in meantime as it was cold and rainy and he suggested lunch at another place. Having lunch thought about it and actually did not stay and instead drove 4.5hrs to Oban to find a nice place and room.
Would suggest that the hotel is run by tired people and could not recommend this based on my experience.

Property was clean and Duncan was very helpful. He was only staff member we saw as he was on reception and served breakfast. Hotel was set on a hill so ot was a 35 step climb to get up to it or a walk up the hill along the front of it and parking was limited.

We loved the place. Would stay there again in a heartbeat if back this way again. We ate dinner and breakfast at the hotel. Those meals were great too. All the staff we encountered were very pleasant. The only issue we had was a cold shower that never did warm up at all. Presumably a maintenance issue that will be corrected in short order.

The room was ok, but no toiletries, the shower did not have a door, the tv was very small. Dinner was ok but very expensive for what is was. Breakfast was a continuous walk back and forth to get things, nothing on the table at all, had to ask for coffee refill. The place was generally dusty and grubby

The Millcroft Hotel is excellent value for money. The staff are very welcoming and always friendly. We stayed in Room 6 with excellent views of the bay. Dinner menu had lots of variety, food was great. Cooked breakfast plentiful and beautifully served. Highly recommend for any length of stay!

Privately owned hotels are struggling, and it showed.
Bed - VERY POOR QUALITY - ALSO TOO SMALL.
Hotel - Needs to be smashed down and rebuilt, it’s WAY past it’s sell by date.

The only upto date item about the hotel, the price it charges per night - 150 pounds for a couple. It’s not worth half the money.

Will definitely be back on the NC500 route, Scotland is beautiful, so beautiful it HAS to be seen.

Use branded hotels they have the money and the infrastructure to offer you, what you will pay for.
The privately owned ones don’t have the money backing behind them, and they think they are better than they really are. Sorry but true, rather sleep in your car, I’m not joking.

A noisy and stressful stay.

The room was very small. I had paid extra for a mountain view which was quite obscured by the bed and a lamp.
Unfortunately, the room was situated above the kitchen and there were two industrial extractor fans by my window. This meant it was SO noisy and I felt like I was next to a car with it's engine running. It was so stressful. I asked about changing rooms but apparently the hotel was full. The noise went on from about 4pm until about 10pm and started again in the morning at a out 7am.
Horrendous! If you stay in this hotel, make sure you don't have room 1.

Fantastic bed!

We were doing the WC500 and this was one of the best nights sleep we had. Really comfy bed and lovely sheets, room was spacious and clean and a lovely view over the shoreline. The shower was great and powerful too.
If there was any criticism the only thing I would change was the sausage at breakfast, I'm from Ireland and we take our sausages very seriously there, and it was the only thing that disappointed ;-) However it would definitely not stop me staying again or highly recommending tis lovely hotel .

High praise for staff..except barman

With the exception of the barman... the friendliest staff you could hope to meet. Comfortable, practical rooms with good sea views from the front. Small double beds were comfortable but too small for us. Tangled christmas lights ( August?) and plastic table coverings with animal prints did nothing to compliment the good food in the restaurant. Old and uncomfortable bench seating in restaurant would be more inkeeping with a saloon bar. Overall the staff and manager are the stars of this hotel.
