Seemed very expensive for a small room at £190 with no breakfast. For a NC500 overnight stay dinner looked very expensive at £60 a head. Not a lot of other food options.

Secluded and romantic getaway
We stayed in two different rooms. The first room was on the top floor and very small with a slanted ceiling and the bed was a small double bed so we weren’t that comfortable. The second night we stayed in one of the bigger deluxe rooms on the first floor, which was much nicer. The dinner in the restaurant was delicious and the service was excellent.

It was practically perfect. Loved it. The lodge is such a lovely place with a superb setting. Delicious food. Which we’d stayed a week.

Lovely old Hunting Lodge, downstairs sitting rooms and restaurant well appointed. Our room was nice although only view of the back gardens and Falconry and the room was on the small side. Next time I would upgrade to a larger room with a view of the Loch. The property the Hotel is situated in is stunning for gardens and views. Meal at Restaurant was A Grade and would highly recommend the food.

This Is an overpriced hotel. This is not a 4 star hotel at all, so the rooms, hotel conditions and food served do not match the price you pay for.
Most of the rooms are small and some are really not very accessible with suitcases.

Well this is the first poor review I’ve ever written.
The room rate is reasonable based on the overall hotel but our room and the bed was very small room compared with all our other experiences in the highlands this week. Our bathroom looked clean but smell of faeces was disgusting, We had pre-booked dinner and stayed for breakfast it was very expensive and poor value. I agree with other travellers that the dining experience is awkward and the dinner staff exacerbated this. We ate late due to availability of spaces and the staff reset tables for breakfast whilst we were eating our main course. This made us feel rushed and burdensome. One staff member serving drinks etc wasn’t welcoming and his manner aloof (maybe he was just having a bad day!) Again stark contrast to the other hotels we’d stayed during our week in the Highlands.
Having said all that this is a stunning house, the views from the hotel and the main communal rooms are beautiful. We were able to watch seals from the lawns.

Bedroom, bed and bathroom spacious and comfortable but still overpriced for accommodation. Evening meal very poor and did not live up to description on website at all. Food is supposed to be local and in season and therefore reason why menu choice very limited. However, one of the three main courses on offer was pheasant which is not legally in season until October 1st. Therefore it must either have been frozen from last season or roadkill!

It was okay. Small room, which got too hot. Open window helped. Bathroom had a fan which didn’t work and a tap was unsecured.
The food was disappointing. We spent one night here and had high hopes. Unfortunately we went to much better hotels and so this one seemed poor in comparison.

I booked this hotel last minute as I was driving through Scotland. It is an absolutely incredible hotel. The staff is outstanding. The hotel itself is old, but well maintained, and really quite cozy. I missed dinner, and wish I hadn’t, because much of the food is sourced right there on the estate. The breakfast was excellent. The bar has so many whiskeys and gins that it’s pretty overwhelming. There is so much to do on the grounds from hiking to falconry. I would say this hotel is definitely worth going out of the way for. I’m definitely coming back for an extended stay in the future.

The property is beautiful and the lounges are cozy. The matttress was comfortable, but we did not have the promised goose down duvet and the pillows were huge and hard. The bathroom was freezing and the shower had no water pressure and only got lukewarm. With only half the hotel booked, I was surprised not have had our request for a room with a tub fulfilled. (We booked a room category of which some rooms had tubs and some had showers.) I can see having a very nice experience here in nicer weather and in one of the rooms overlooking the loch.

Shieldaig lodge is a fabulous place to stay for adults wanting some peace and quiet. Rooms were not large and the bathroom was the smallest I’ve ever seen (aeroplane toilet size), but the staff were great as was the location, the food, the restaurant, the dining room etc. we even went and chatted to the falconer who had some lovely birds .Fabulous place.

Sheildag Lodge was the perfect place to spend my birthday while my Husband and I were driving the NC500. What an amazing small and personable Hotel with great staff including but not limited to Ismet, Charmaine, Alister, & Sean. We felt very spoiled for a couple of days. The food was great. We especially enjoyed the Falconry session with Garreth and the ever changing views of the bay from our room windows. We will always remember this stay and will most likely be back!

From the moment I entered this lodge, I was thrilled with everything! Dining was exceptional...loch front room was exquisite...and they have a falconry center with at least 6 falcons and several owls and a young bright engaging falconer!
