Dirty, outdated hotel. Bathroom window was open upon arrival to air out the smell of sewage. They wanted to charge $90 per night at the hotel. I would never have stayed here if there were better options.

Worse hotel ever!!!

All I have to say is OMG the worse hotel I’ve stayed at in my whole life! The front desk lady was so unprofessional, the rooms were dirty (the bathroom’s waste basket full of trash from previous guests). We were moved to another room (room 24) and it smelled so bad and the bed was so lumpy my back was in so much pain the next day. They also started sweeping in front of our room and banging the broom against the door at 7am they also kept hitting the wall with rims or barrels don’t know what it was but it was loud and made the wall shake ( mind you that’s the wall where the bed is) that went on for 2 hours 5am-7ish. I got up grabbed my stuff and took off to the Holiday inn near by to get some rest. What a waste of money And time. DO NOT recommend to anyone. You are better off sleeping in your car. If you do stay here don’t say I didn’t warn you!!

You know those places you walk in and realize the reviews were probably fake and you’ve made a big mistake? This.

On the plus side, the owners were friendly and responsive to our requests (specifically to install a missing smoke/CO2 alarm since another room was not made available to us). Also, it’s cheap.

How it gets such high ratings I don’t know. The sheets/toilet/sink/bath appeared clean, but everything else was filthy including deeply stained fabric chairs we didn’t sit on as they looked like we could catch something from them. We wanted to leave but the reservation was non-refundable and we were tired. You get what you pay for I guess. On another note, the donuts down the street are great and the people running it lovely!

Just a place to sleep. The bed linens were interesting didn’t seem to be made to fit correctly the bottom sheet was an undersized top sheet that quickly was displayed and this revealed a quite disturbing bed stain (looked to be blood on the mattress) don’t know what else to say…

Horrible for what you pay

This place is expensive for what it is. It’s in very poor condition, looked dirty, shower was stained and cracking. The towels didn’t even match it’s like they found a bunch of towels at the Salvation Army and just put them in there. Travelodge inn is a tad better and at a lower price. On top of that, they charged me $5 dollars extra because according to them on the app it didn’t say it was for a couple. Most hotels won’t charge for two people reserved for a king size bed but this place did. Never going back again

Great Value!

Loved the front desk person ~ she was a real delight. They are rennovating some of the rooms with new mattresses, etc., and I don't know if ours was one of them, but the bed was comfortable. The towels need replaced (very worn) but maybe they'll get to that soon. Room was impeccably clean and quiet. I will stay there again when I'm in town.

The towels smelled moldy and were supposed to be white but in reality was a dingy grey the door frame was loose with boards coming out of it after being poorly nailed in. Granted I didn't expect something very nice considering the price but this place having three stars is a pure joke

Horrible bates motel

Owner will go in your room without permission. The owner will go in the room pretend to clean the room but will turn off the a/c to save on electricity in a 90 degree weather. The towel are like rags you used for cleaning cars. Soaps and shampoo are non existent. Glad I pack some. Owner will give you a hard time if you ask for soap and shampoo. The parking lot is used for hangout for people drinking all night. Will not stay here again even if its free.

No frills motel at a reasonable price

There is nothing fancy. But the room is clean, comfortable, quiet, and cheap. It could use more towels and better soap. The internet can be slow.

The staff is very helpful and take pride in how clean the property is.

It is a good place for a stopover on the I-5 and there is a Black Bear Diner nearby.

Hotel was okay. Room had been reconditioned recently. Okay place to stop when passing through on the 5 Fwy. Good price.
Only negative was the shower wasn't clean. Looked like water / scuz had backed up through the drain.

My significant other and I were planning on using the Sun Star Inn as a pit stop on our two day drive between Portland and San Diego. We were not expecting anything fancy. Both of us are extensive travelers and used to the motel life. Nonetheless, the Sun Star Inn was an exceptional let down.

The good/non-bad:

-Neighborhood is fine, extensive parking, lobby was fine, person who was working behind the counter was fine. Everything you would expect to see at a place you're paying $55ish a night for. Right next door to a breakfast place. You couldn't hear road traffic once you were in the room. Right on the main thoroughfare out of Los Banos.

The Bad:

The room was filthy. I don't mean, slightly dirty because you're paying $55/night. I mean, filthy. The carpet, which was dark, was covered in gray dust all along the corners and the edges of the room. It was if it had never been vacuumed.

My boyfriend started coughing and sneezing once we got in the room, so I lifted up the mattress by the wall and discovered a pile of dirt between the mattress and the box spring on one side. Wanting to explore the other side, I lifted up the mattress again and discovered, what we both believed, to be rodent sized droppings (along with more dirt and dust). Upon seeing this, we left.

We we're so disgusted by the cleanliness of the room that we left, without even asking for a refund. We just wanted to get out of there as soon as we could.

Not the Worst

The decor of the room is clearly quite outdated...1980's? The room had the appearance of being cleaned, but there were edges of dirt around the carpet and bathroom floors. They did not have hand towels. The air conditioner, though we are thankful it worked, was extremely loud and once it was on it did not shut off...so no matter what temperature you set, eventually it gets too cold, and then too warm...you have to be the thermostat. The lobby smelled like a lot of curry had been cooking, but the clerk was nice and when we had a problem with the television he did come right up to the room and fix it. It is okay - but I would not choose to stay there again on purpose.

It's fine for a place to stay one night on the road. We were able to check in late in the evening compared with most hotel's time cut-offs, and check out as early as we needed without getting extra charges. Not really a place you'd want to hang out for awhile, and the wifi didn't want to work too well on our devices, but it got the job done. The toilet liked to leak a little at the base onto the floor... but everything else seemed to be cleanish. But you get what you pay for

This is actually not a bad hotel. Unfortunatley the owners are cheaping out on the exact items that they need to spend on. The building itslef is not bad and fairly quiet. The room has tile floors which is great (if they are clean, which they arent). The furniture is old and worn, which is livible, just not new. Not a big deal. The real problem is that the mattresses are absolutley disgusting! And the poor excuse for sheets are too small to cover the disgusting mattress. Heres a clue the the owners: Steam clean every floor in every room daily, buy ALL new mattresses and fitted, high end bedding. Your ratings will go up and you MAY even be able to charge a couple extra dollars.

Great Hidden Gem

The owners were wonderful and very helpful when I left my key in my room, twice. The rooms were much nicer than I expected, and we were able to fit 2 children's cots around the king-sized bed, and still move around.

Old & dirty sun star inn !!!

the hotel is very old and very dirty.the service sucked. We had accidentally booked the rooms for the wrong date.they charged us a fee eventhought many empty rooms. Owner said it's because we didn't book through them directly but we used hotel.com. everything in the room was very old and dirty. The towels were so nasty we use toilet paper instead to wipe our hands and face. the bed is so hard like it's just a wooden frame with no mattress.

Cheap and old, dont get a room near the front

Dated facilities without a hint of renovation. The room was noisy (near the office) traffic could be heard very clearly, shower door was was nearly falling off, the matress was decent but this was expected of an economy hotel, at least there were no bed bugs.

Not recommended if you want a good nights sleep

At 2 different times, 3am and 5am Had 2 different not so nice people pounding on the door next to ours telling the people to please let them in and could hear the occupants talking back, the 2nd person even called them by name. Then after not getting the result he wanted at that door began pounding on ours, telling me he needed to use my phone, and only went away after i told him i was calling the police. he called me some not so nice names and left. you can make your own assumption on what was going on. i will never stay there again!!

What a dump

I booked this hotel based on the Expedia rating. This hotel had filthy chairs that were stained and discolored. The room looked like it had not been cleaned or used for a while as there was a layer of dust on everything. The bathroom towels were all discolored and smelled musty. The positive reviews in Expedia must have been written by either the owner or someone who is padding the reviews for them.

Nothing special is about this motel. Except an awful mattress, it was really uncomfortable. And a tiny shower, it's small even for one person. And keep in mind that hotel charges 10 bucks for Tax recovery and service fees which is 20 percent of their rate for the room.
