Room in main house - tired , Wet carpet from radiator leaking, toilet seat nearly falling off and dangerous. Rooms in new extension are much better. Good value but need more staff!
We were ignored again during evening dinner - there’s simply not enough staff! This happened last time.
No interaction at all after meal was delivered- so they lost money on desserts and coffee and more drinks. Won’t eat there again.

Valentines evening with overnight stay.
Check in easy, mostly done online prior to arrival. Room was good size and very clean, hotel situated along side of busy A55, but road noise in room was minimal.
Had small lunch and then dinner in the evening, the service from Heather was excellent, full of smiles and attentive, even though it was busy with the amount of staff they had on serving. She just gave that little bit extra that made you feel well looked after and that she care about your experience, thank you Heather. The other staff were also great during this busy time.
Had Sirloin for mains, ordered rare and it arrived medium well done, staff kindly returnedit to kitchen and were apologetic, reurned within 5 mins, it was cool and raw in middle, wasnt going to send it back for 2nd try so managed to eat about half of the outside part, I wouldnt recommend it priced at £21.29 plus £2 for peppercorn, served with 2 dried up flat mushrooms, half tomato, garden peas and some rather lovely chips.
Overall, staff were great, although very busy and took a while to order, steak was below par and wouldnt order it again, room was clean, comfortable and quiet

Welcoming member of staff but clearly there needs to be more staff available one person front of house doing many jobs is unfair and unrealistic when checking in or at breakfast. Room wasn’t ready on arrival after long journey was still being cleaned I was told to sort it with reception. I was offered another room.

Breakfast choice of smashed avocado and poached egg wasn’t great at all but felt the singular member of staff had enough to deal with, without a complaint regarding my breakfast on top.

Overall the stay was ok the hotel was nicely situated, needs updated and most importantly more staff availability for guests. No issues with waiting but it doesn’t look good when one person is trying their best to do it all.

Have stayed before and it’s been fine, and recommended family, but this time was pretty poor. Counter staff not really interested at all so bar staff had to help each time I went to reception. They were great but checked us in to a room that was taken already which was a shock for the guest in place. No rooms in same building while staying with kids meant a messed up night all around. Not great, and no real attempt to apologise or make it good from hotel staff.

I have stayed at the Talardy on previous occasions and have had a positive experience. However, I had a very different and disappointing experience last Saturday night.
I travel with work to North Wales 3-4 times a month and thought I had found the ideal place to stay near to Glan Clwyd Hospital. I work 12 hour shifts as a nurse and have to drive almost 4 hours home on the Sundays. So to be kept awake by loud music and what sounded like karaoke till almost midnight on Saturday was really not ideal. To top it off, disruption continued with an extremely loud man in one of the neighbouring rooms shouting very loudly until the early hours.
I stayed in Room 9 and have attached a picture of the bed I was sleeping on. You can see a rather large gap between the headboard and the mattress where my pillows kept falling into throughout the night.
I had about 3 hours disturbed sleep on Saturday night and was near to tears with exhaustion when I left for work at 7 am on Sunday. I'm not staying for pleasure but for work purposes and need to have a good nights sleep to function properly.

I was very disappointed with this experience and put my concerns in an email to the venues email address but had no acknowledgement. Very disappointing.

Room was large but a bit dated, functional. The evening meal was very disappointing- the service was terrible. No one came to ask if our food was ok, we were forgotten about completely and by the time we asked for service to order dessert, we were told the kitchen was closed! Loss for them. Wouldn’t eat here again if there were other choices.

Very stressfull couple of nights at the talardy

3 rd time staying at talardy and very disapointed this time . Room needed a good clean dust on skirting boards all the way round room on floor on top of cupboards bath was dirty upon arriving in room .bed was the most uncomfortable ive had the pleasure of teying to sleep on . Massive spot light outside window on all.night lite up room even with blackput curtains . Constant drone of a generator running all night. This was our 3rd vistit and probably our last. Usually very good but not on this occasion.

The room was clean but out of date with a shower over the bath.Because of my age I was not able to use as getting in or out of it was not easy also no bath mat supplied.The door key card stopped working after a day which meant going back down to the reception to have it sorted.The room was very warm and we were unable to open a window,a fan was in the room but very noisy,couldn’t sleep with it on.

The property itself was great. Parking was easy, right off the road. Dining area looked nice, room was clean, shower was hot! The bad… the bed was harder than the floor. First I booked 2 twins and we got a double, which apparently just separates into 2 beds. He brought another duvet up. We ended up keeping the double and using the duvet as extra padding. Ultimately I lined the bed with pillows and slept on the pillows! Also there was a thermostat on the wall but no AC ever came out. I opened the window.

I got into a terrible situation. I was stranded in an area with no transport, phone battery went dead; had a 10 month baby with me and no baby car seat. The baby car seat was in the car. My car was in a car park that had been locked. They was no understanding and they wouldnt give me a refund.

A tale of mixed blessings

Experience was mixed. Clean room. Pleasant, youthful staff. Customer focus variable across team. Some issues with rooms. E-key failed to operate lights in allocated room so we were moved to another, smaller (but satisfactory) room. Soap dispenser mounting had broken in second bathroom but had not been replaced. Coffee machine near breakfast area had broken down and not all continental breakfast choices, listed on menu, were available. On the positive side, pub was quiet on the Friday and Saturday evenings we were visiting so there was no noise disturbance.

Have used the hotel several times & every time the food has been bad! The rooms always good. This time we had a suite with a separate bedroom & the lights in the bedroom did not work & the bathroom light did not work so just a dim spot in there it was dark! There was also no plugs I could find in the second room either. Checking in took 20 mins & I was the first in the long line waiting to check in. The lady who came to check us in was lovely & apologised for the wait, there was obviously not enough staff. Later we waited 10 mins to get served at the bar & we were the only people waiting. Great hotel to stay & good value but food & staffing are a problem

I have stayed twice at the Talardy when my dad has been in hospital. The staff are amazing, very caring and quick to help. The first time I stayed in the main building, this time in the annex. Both are very good, and I appreciated the air con as I arrived in a heat wave. The rooms are very clean and roomy. The breakfasts are cooked fresh and very filling. After spending the day with dad I would come back and have an evening meal, again cooked fresh, plenty of choice and excellent service. I felt very welcomed. The only quibble I have is that reception in the annex was hit and miss so I missed a couple of calls. If that gets improved then it will be 10/10 rather than a 9.5.

Great location for our golf tournament in Abergele. Staff were outstanding and very helpful and in particular special mention to Elise(hope I have the correct name) who was very helpful before and during our stay. Nothing was too much for her to make our stay as enjoyable as possible. Sadly, one of our group lost his wallet in the hotel which hasn't been found. The rooms were great other than the small beds in the twin rooms. A recommended hotel to stay and the restaurant on site a big plus

When arriving at the hotel at 1.50pm we went in to see about checking in to then be met by a very abrupt man telling us we needed to wait 10 minutes so take a seat,I understand check in time was 2pm but it was just the manner he approached us in. Having checked in and given our room key we made our way to the room which was not what we had booked as on booking my room it said there was only a family room available which we took although there was only myself and my partner but our room was a lot smaller than what was described in our booking confirmation.we later went for dinner to which we were very disappointed in I ordered fish and chips to which I got fish chips and mushy peas but there were only 10 chips on my plate my partner ordered Thai curry to which her naan bread was burnt and not edible so we called it a day as we’d travelled 6 hours to our destination and were tired only to be woken at 7.30am with kids running about the corridor shouting and banging doors which as a relaxing break was not ideal.on the Sunday evening we returned to the hotel around 9.30 had a drink before bed in the hotel bar which was nice and quiet so we headed to bed around 10.30pm only to be kept awake again by banging doors and kids in the corridor so all in all in wasn’t a very relaxing Easter for myself and partner

Not bad but not brilliant!!

Easy check in at main hotel's reception, however, even though we had not booked breakfast included in our stay we were not told of any breakfast options on offer. There was limited interaction with just a basic handover of room card.

Room was adequate, clean and had all the necessities, hairdryer, kettle, TV etc. It was in our families opinion more 3 than 4 star accommodation as it could have done with some maintenance, curtains were not hung properly, paintwork needed re doing as black marks on various patches of wall bathrooms need a refresh, damp smell from shower curtain. Also just 1 & 1/2 toilet rolls to last a family of 3 for a 3 night stay. On the plus side, the beds were super comfortable, plenty of pillows and lots of space in the rooms.

The service from the bar staff, waiter/waitress staff was outstanding!!! They worked super hard and despite being very busy on some occasions, they went above and beyond. One waitress in particular, I'm unsure of her name, she had dark hair tied back and wore glasses. She was very kind, friendly and nothing was too much trouble. Food was lovely though a bit on the pricey side, very grateful for the 20% discount off the food for staying at the hotel. The drinks prices were very high, £16 for a pint of Lager, a pint of Cider and a j20!! No incentive to stay for a couple of drinks after a meal.

To sum up a 3 star hotel, 4 star restaurant with 5 star prices!!! Fantastic, hardworking staff and a great location for exploring North Wal

The only thing that let it down for us what at breakfast on the second morning, we ordered the avocado on toast again but the toast was really burnt. Very disappointing to think it was served rather than just cooking a couple more bits of toast. Other than that a really good place to stay!

A mixed bag. Had a fantastic stay a year ago, unfortunately this was a different experience. The room and stay was fine but the bar and restaurant was a different matter. On arrival I ordered decaf tea but was given raspberry?? Not an issue but seems like more training is required. Our evening meal was good, but not as good as previous visits.The only plus was the wonderful service from Heather for our evening meal.
The breakfast was a complete shambles. Very understaffed. Even though it was quiet when we arrived everything was running low, juices, hot water, bread etc, spoons, no sauces or butter. I had to supply my own teabags. But my biggest complaint was dietary restrictions were not asked about. This is a big no,no in catering now. I was served something I am allergic to. Luckily I noticed but had to wait a really long time for it to be replaced. The rest of the party had finished. The food execution was very poor. By the time we left the breakfast area was a complete shambles. Not the poor servers fault, but the fault of management and training. We asked when checking in could we book a time, but was told 'just turn up'. The hotel was full so they could have preempted the amount of guests. For this reason we wont be returning

No shower gel or hand cleaner in dispenser.
Toilet seat loose.
Broken clothes hanger in closet.
Breakfast was oily, dry bacon, couldn’t eat the mushroom as it was tough as rubber and oily. Pork sausages were overcooked and dry.
When complaining to staff member about the room at breakfast, no apology made, only said she’ll report it to housekeeping.

This is a really nice place to stay.
Good value, close to lots of places in the area and with a good restaurant.

2 day family visit.

We spent 2 nights at the talardy in the run up to Christmas. I know the location well and is convenient access to the north wales trunk road.
Our room was a decent size set up for a family of 2 adults and separate single beds for our children.
It was clean with all the usual amenities. It wasn't in the room but ironing board and iron are also available on request.
The bathroom was good with decent shower/bath and always hot water.

Minor snags were our key cards were resetting in the morning which meant I had to pop to reception twice to have it reprogrammed.
Our friends joined us for breakfast on the second day. They weren't too impressed with it but I thought breakfast was good on the whole. I ordered a cooked breakfast and you can help yourself to continental in addition with no further cost.

The stay was a good one, I would recommended and would stay again.

Excellent bed, poor breakfast

An older property with some character to it. The hotel was decorated for Christmas and whilst there was some wear and tear it, was clean and tidy with decent provisions. We had a good size room with a comfy bed and soft sheets. Some marks on materials and curtains wonky but it felt clean. The bathroom was basic but decent shower and bath. Warm and cosy too.
Though its near a main road it was quiet. A good location for starting to explore North Wales.

We could not fault our stay over and sleep but the food was a disappointment.

Luckily we'd eaten else where in the evening as they had \"run out\" of most menu items. Infact, we were greeted by a friendly chap who told us all the woes of the hotel, it's management and poorly run kitchen while we were booking in. Hopefully things look up after Christmas!
The breakfast offering wasn't great. Plenty of tea and coffee, limited bakery if you'd chosen continental option. But...cooked breakfast was poor, small, old looking items with watery beans, overcooked egg and fatty bacon. And served with an extra pea from somewhere!
I could see this being a top place to stay when things are sorted in the kitchen.

I felt like I was in Army basic training

I felt uncomfortable during my stay. The staff are not shy of telling you off. So many rules. I was asked what time I would like to eat breakfast, I said 0900, but the boys slept in so we arrived at 1000. Even though breakfast was on until 1030 I was told I was lucky as they were about to close the kitchen. Why advertise breakfast until 1030 then?
I was also told that swimming was open until 2100. I got my boys dressed and went to the reception at 2015 hrs to be told I was past the cut off due to cleaning etc (it was now approx 2016 hrs). For the sake of a minute, there was no need to reject us. We had 45 minutes and again why advertise it until 2100 and why would it matter if people were in there already? The pool area is very small.
My Nanna and niece came to visit and the reception overheard my room number and questioned me with an accusing tone \"are you all in room 103\". I had to explain myself for having guests over.
I asked for a fan and was told they didnt have one, I had no contorl of the heating in the room which was hot.
On the first morning I was told to get my own toast on the second morning I was told off for getting my own toast (as the staff do it when its busy). How am I supposed to know that?
Overall an uncomfortable stay.
