A very cosy hotel with absolutely fabulous views. The family room was really spacious, with a comfortable double bed and a single, giving us plenty of room to relax. Although the hotel itself is a little outdated, the stunning views more than make up for it and add to the overall charm. We had a lovely stay and would definitely return. Highly recommended for comfort and scenery

It's being refurbished and this does need to continue, as some parts are a bit 'tired', though still very clean. Main criticism would be the lighting - mis-matched and dull lighting in the bedrooms, would be an easy fix. Would definitely recommend though, given excellent value for money and great food.

Very friendly and warm staff (except the breakfast lady who was perhaps having a bad morning). Room was a good size and had a big smart tv on the wall. Although the bathroom was a bit dated it had plentiful, really hot water for the bath (the electric shower was a tad underwhelming).
The restaurant seemed a bit pricey at first but actually the portions were large and everything was very well cooked and presented - so it ended up being very good value.
It’s close to a fast road but we couldn’t hear any traffic noise from the room.
Overall a very pleasant stay and I would book there again without checking out alternatives.

Family Room - Extremely Dated and needs revamping (but not modernising to lose the heritage) The views are fantastic facing to the rear fields from the room however.

Staff - Awkward Communication from beginning to end, cleaners left their gear lying everywhere in hallways and stairs.

Breakfast - hilariously awkward, hostess watches you like a prison warden too ensure your not sharing your toast with the other inmates…

old fashioned holiday inn vibes cold buffet, all generic foodstuffs and watching the same hostess chow on Watermelon straight out serving area was off putting as hell.

Breakfast is completely underwhelming and skippable tbh.

The staff were polite and friendly, room was clean. The breakfast was very disappointing, very limited continental breakfast choice. I appreciate that avoiding food waste is important but not much selection at all. Is always a treat when staying away from home for us so wouldn't stay here again.

The room was cold and dingy with a dirty window cill and walls around it. A small radiator was lukewarm, an old electric wall heater lasted about 3 minutes. I am mystified how it got a high rating. I was so angry but too tired to complain. It cost over £70. I've had better stays at motorway services for £20 less.

I stayed for business not pleasure. I would book here again, the hotel is centrally located to where I regularly need to be. Room was basic but spotless. I’m pretty sure it was a brand divan bed and I slept decently. Food in the restaurant was tasty and I left full.

When we arrived the evening staff were great, friendly and efficient. Our evening meal was good British menu well cooked and presented.
Our room was clean, not the most comfortable beds, but the real problem was lack of sleep. We were on the ground floor and there was no sound proofing, the person/people in room above were walking or moving stuff around until midnight and started again just after 4am. Their floorboards were creaking so loudly that after not being able to sleep until late, we were woken again in the early hours!!
It seems t e hotel is used by travelling workers?
In the morning I was going to have a polite word at check out but the elderly man and two women were in conversation and just handed us a copy of our receipt without asking if we’d had a good stay so we left.
I really don’t know how this hotel gets 10/10 reviews???

The welcome was somewhat confusing, after waiting a while we were greeted by a man \"what are you here for\" ... strange thing to say when you turn up to a hotel. so basically not the friendly response you would imagine. the hotel was old and a little run down, some areas have started to be renovated. My room was unfort The food was amazing and definitely the highlight of the stay.

Lovely room but if you’re planning on staying, choose an upstairs room. We were in the Garden Suite on the ground floor and we were kept awake by the couple in the room above who kept walking back and forth constantly. This woke us up at 7am every morning.

The breakfast certainly isn’t worth the £12.50 charged. Food tasted like it had all been microwaved or kept warm. Coffee was really bitter.

The hotel reception and restaurant really needs a facelift to keep up with some of the refurbished rooms.

The food was absolutely delicious with great choices for the evening meal. It was beautifully cooked and well presented ( hats off to the chef).
Our room, no 15, was a lovely size with valley views. The only drawback was the bathroom. I don't want to be critical but just give the facts......there was a shower over the bath with a shower curtain and the bath was very narrow, so there was a grab rail one side and a shower curtain sticking to you at the other. Neither my husband nor I are large people but if you were a larger person it might be worth seeing if there are any alternative rooms.

Garden Suite - almost perfect

We booked the Garden Suite which was a lovely room with stunning views. Unfortunately on the first night there was a young family in the room above us and they were pretty noisy jumping up and down. I asked reception to have a polite word which they did. My only other negative was the bed; the mattress was so hard it was a killer. The hotel did put a duvet directly onto the mattress but I think having the option to have a topper would have been better, especially given the luxury sell of the suite.

With all that said, staff were responsive, the room itself was lovely and the evening meal was delicious

I read reviews beforehand that said hotel was tired/dated. More rustic charm. Room and bathroom were really spacious and spotless. The staff were attentive and friendly. The Pilgrims choice.

The hotel was out from the city centre but was on a bus route to get into Hereford so we left the car in their free carpark and went shopping and watched the rugby.
Lovely area and the views were fantastic from the hotel dining rooms.
There was new menu starting yesterday and the choice of meals were very good.
We had dinner - pork loin and a braised beef cheek, which were both excellent and a choice of a hot cooked breakfast or a cold buffet , both were really good.
The room was a little dated but the bed and pillows were very comfortable.
The drinks were reasonably priced and there was a good choice.
Would definitely stay at the hotel again.

We stayed here because my husband had a hospital appointment and it was convenient. The staff were all extremely nice and helpful. The restaurant is very good and we enjoyed dining here for the 2 nights of our stay. Fortunately, we were able to get a ground floor room which made things easier for my husband. The room warm but a little datedA good hotel in a lovely position. We would definitely dtsy again. Its much better than a chain hotel

A surprising gem!

Thoroughly surprised at how lovely this place was. Wasn't expecting too much for the price (I paid £53 for the room) but it was lovely! Staff were attentive and polite and couldn't help enough. Paid extra for breakfast which was great value for money as the quality of the ingredients were superb. Beds are incredibly comfy and lovely large bath sheets too! Would definitely stay again.

The carpark, sign and steps to reception were unlit and in total darkness. The whole place is tired and dated. The room was painted in dark, depressing colours { bottle green, even the ceiling!] Difficult to see anything. Bed was reasonably comfortable and decent tv. Coffee machine didn't work
Bathroom sink was badly cracked, the outside part of the sink and mirror frame looked like they hadn't been wiped down in ages. Old electric shower over the bath that had low pressure and changing temperature.
Breakfast was basic with limited choice. Coffee was dreadful!!!!

This is the third year we have stayed to celebrate an AGM. Frankly we were very disorganised re. Numbers. But the Pilgrim were amazing accommodating 40/45 people all very last minute, the food was totally amazing bearing in mind there were so many different variables for a three course meal coming of their table D’hote menu. All delivered in flustered and with smiles on faces. The kitchen staff must have been frantic but boy did they deliver.

Had a lovely two night stay recently. The rooms are comfortable, but did notice a bit of noise coming through from the rooms next to us; luckily not enough to keep us awake. The restaurant was really good, and both nights we could not fault the food. I definitely recommend the Herefordshire Sirloin steak with port and stilton sauce!
Will probably book again in the future.

Clean enough & the staff were lovely! The hotel is very dated though & there were several maintenance things i noticed - i.e. hairdryer broken, peeling paint on much of the radiator, threadbare carpeting, etc.

Overall, OK for the couple of days there but ultimately i would prefer that they just advertise in an honest way instead of trying to make it look fancy.
