Cool building, cute room, friendly staff. The bed was a bit too soft for our taste, but comfy otherwise. The shower pressure was very low and the water didn't get very hot. Unfortunately we didn't get a chance to check out the restaurant bar downstairs but it looked cosy and smelled great.

A great quirky hotel.
A great find with lovely welcoming staff who were very busy. Nothing was too much trouble either. The evening meal we had at the pub was basic but tasty. There was a lovely complimentary breakfast too.

This was a 1 night stay over about was local for my needs, a simple pub room, unfortunately the TV sound didn’t work and as I arrived quite late I didnt want to bother the owner. Had a good nights sleep.

Loved the hotle and bar. An amazing carving outside of a dragon emerging from a tree..local wye valley beers were great..no food being seeved but a good fish and chip shop nesrby which you could bring back to yhe bar area

Friendly and helpful staff who weee manning the bar. No food available and breakfast was Continental only. The shower head had lost its fixing so had to hold the shower head up in the air. There was also no heating. The thermostats didn’t seem to yield the right response. Finally. The mattress was not comfortable and kept me from much needed sleep. The drayman came at 7am so heard all the beer barrels being moved. This is a pub with rooms rather than a hotel. .

Stayed one night. We were welcomed by the staff who quickly checked us in and showed us to our room. The room was spacious and had a comfy bed. There was tea, coffee and water, although the kettle was small considering they had mugs for the drinks (love the fact they were mugs!). The bathroom was small but functional, but no extractor fan which is surprising. We didn't eat here, but did have a few drinks in the bar and the staff were again very friendly as were the locals.

Stayed for one night as we are moving into the area shortly. This is a lovely period building with a nice bar serving Wye Valley beer and dining area serving evening meals. Although we booked room only breakfast is now available for £8 each (small) or £12 ( large) served with tea coffee cereals toast fruit and yoghurt. The rooms were nicely styled, clean, quiet, with TV, toilettries and tea and coffee making facilities. Small fridge was useful. The team were very friendly and helpful.
The bus 476 DRM service outside takes you into Hereford in 10 minutes which is a lovely city to visit or into Ledbury a quaint market town. Ample parking at the hotel. We will definately return to try the evening meals.

Unfortunately, this property was very sadly let down by the terrible bed! The bed is far too short for anyone over 5'6\" with a mattress that was so badly worn, it sagged so badly in the middle so that any chance of a good nights sleep was ruined. The complete lack of breakfast is also a significant issue...
I appreciate that getting a chef in to cook breakfast on a Sunday moring can be quite a challenge, but a hotel failing to provide even a bowl of cerials or a yoghurt smacks of a staff team not trying at all.
It's a shame, because with a little effort, the Godwins could be quite reasonable...

This was a very quirky hotel and aside of the initial signing in there was no real interaction with staff the food was good akthough i think the seating arrangments were very different to the victorian appeal of the hotel and i think with that in place its a nice quiet setting room was well appointed with drinks facilities etc a nice stay

Ideal for those looking for early start in the mornings - work or onward travel. The bar staff were friendly and evening meals are available but we did not try due to other commitments.

After booking a room through Hotels.com, I called the Godwins Hotel to see if there was an option to check in late as this would be preferable to me if it was possible. I was told that this was no problem, and given the details of the security box which would contain 2 keys, along with where I could find my room (number 7). I was also told that if I encountered any problems I could ring the mobile phone number given to me and help would be given.
After arriving at the hotel at 12.30am, I went to the security box and there was no keys inside. Furthermore, when I rang the mobile number twice, it went to answerphone both times. I left a message on one occasion. I also tried to ring the hotel directly. Further to this, I called Hotels.com and was on the phone to them for 2 hours and 5 minutes. There were no hotels nearby available at this time, and I had no choice but to sleep in my car.
After two more phone calls the following day to the hotel and the managers mobile, and two emails sent to both the hotel and the hotel group over the weekend, I got a response from Godwins 5 days later. I received approximately 80% of my money back, and no gesture of goodwill. Absolutely disgusting service.

4 night stay.
Despite some negative feedback on website, I decided to book at a really good rate and so pleased I did as the hotel is superb. Room 2 was lovely and well equipped, bed very comfy, bedding and towels sumptuous, and tea and coffee provided with fresh milk kept in mini fridge. Even on 2 mornings boxes of cereal which not expected. Staff helpful.

Lovely staff. No fresh food available, although they were refurbing so due to change soon. In the meantime we were supplied a brioche, croissant, butter, jam and some cereals which were okay. The main downside of our stay and reason for the review was the bed and shower. I’m 6’4” so accept I’m freakishly tall, but my head was against the headboard and feet against the footboard and generally not a very comfortable bed for my taste. The shower temperature was stuck on uncomfortably hot even for my wife who enjoys a scaldingly hot shower at home.

Working in Hereford & couldn't see much in the City, so plumped for here. I'm glad I did, lovely boutique hotel with some amazing history. Limited menu, but the food was very nice. Nice room/en-suite comfy bed. Easy parking, nice village setting, well worth a trip.
