To be honest, If the rates were $400-500 a night it would be a 9 - but at $700 per night I can only rate it a 7. Most areas of the hotel looked tired and needed a new coat of paint or varnish. The room we had was clean and tidy, but lacklustre and needed new carpet and a freshen of the balcony. There were spiderwebs on the balcony and walkways, a couple of cockroaches in our room, the blanket on the bed was old and fraying, the spa in our room was not cleaned each day, and the seafood we had at the restaurant was overcooked. Everything, including staff, was pleasant, but nothing was outstanding - overall a pretty average stay.

It was nice and clean and the pool side atmosphere on the Friday afternoon was fun however there is some minor issues , the first being the lack of enthusiasm or help from reception. I have to say the staff were a bit hit and miss with their hospitality. The hotel needs work a refresh as it’s classed as a 5 star and I certainly didn’t see or experience any 5 star perks .

We had a wonderful and relaxing stay at Bannisters for my husband's birthday.

The room was very clean and spacious with a lovely balcony overlooking the pool. We loved that the hotel supplied binoculars for whale watching too.

The infinity pool was definitely the highlight, we enjoyed swimming and chilling by the pool.

Staff were excellent, from cleaners waitresses, reception, nothing was too much trouble. The rooms were clean. We stayed in a spa room which overlooked the pool and ocean. The only reason i gave 4 stars and not 5 stars was that the toilet and shower are together in one area. If you’ve had a shower and then need to use the toilet even after an hour, the floor is still wet from the shower and need to be careful due to it being a bit slippery.

Always an enjoyable place to stay, including in the colder months when less people stay there. Watching the sun rise over the horizon early morning, is every photographers dream moment.
Breakfast in the mornings is a must...the views, the coffee, the eggs Benedict, what a perfect way to start the day.

The team were wonderful, friendly helpful and efficient, particularly the waiter who greeted and seated us for dinner and on duty the next morning at breakfast. She was happy and clearly loves her job. Sadly, we didn’t grab her name.
We came to unwind and rest but sadly found our room overlooking the pool a little too noisy and lacking privacy. The location is wonderful; however, I feel this hotel is hugely overpriced compared to other hotels in the same bracket.

The staff were great, very kind, and the view/location was amazing. The food was amazing, the car park has plenty of room, and the bar and pool area is fantastic.

However, the bathroom was not clean enough, specifically the shower and bath.

The room as a whole wasn’t finished to a standard that deserved $1k per night. The lamp shades were stained, the paint of the walls was clearly old and chipped, the wifi router in the top corner of the room flashed a bright light all night, and the outside furniture was old and tatty.

Not first time we have stayed here. But now property is tired.
Still nice but major renovation works needed like replacing spa, glass balcony doors and some external timber. Inside carpets have been wet and the smell was definitely present. Bed was very saggy and sadly uncomfortable.
Location is fantastic
Restaurant is really good (we found mid week better than the busier Friday night).
Unfortunately this venue is used by unruly hens parties which is never pleasant for anyone else.
Overall we enjoyed mid week night when property was quieter and better organised than weekend.

Amazing view, sound of the ocean to fall asleep to was incredible. Room is a bit dated, needs better upkeep. Bathroom was nice enough but you need extra towels to wipe the floor after showering so you’re not getting the toilet wet. Also had someone else’s hair all over the floor and walls so was not cleaned properly. The porta cot for our 7 week old baby was atrocious, we had to go into Ulladulla and buy one as we didn’t bring ours from home because $1700 for our two night stay at a luxury hotel we thought their porta cot would be sufficient enough.

Bannisters is our favourite place to visit we absolutely love coming here every year. The rooms are great always clean and such great views, the pool is perfect, it’s so nice and quiet and tranquil - the perfect escape. This time we had our new baby in tow who woke up during our meal at Rick Steins and they were so amazing they just packed up our meal and sent it as room service, no hassle at all. Couldn’t speak more highly of our long weekend away. We had booked through Wotif and were worried after seeing some reviews but called Bannisters, who assured us they had our booking and it was a completely seamless process. We saved $400 going through Wotif so would definitely try to book through them again!

Nice, but not worth the price

The view of the ocean is beautiful. The hotel is small and intimate. The service was great - very friendly staff that made you feel welcome. Food was really good at the pool bar and Rick Stein restaurant.

But for the price they charge per night, the hotel is underwhelming. The spa deluxe room was nice, but for the price I expect it and the amenities to be less basic. It seems more a nice motel than luxury hotel, so I would expect the price to be much lower.

Bannisters was just a perfect Christmas escape for us .. the location on the headland was magic, enjoying ocean views and waking up to the sound of the waves each day . We stayed two nights and ate at Rick Stein's restaurant both nights. The food is very good indeed and we enjoyed excellent seafood. The staff are lovely and service was great although it was disappointing that our request for a table with a view was ignored by the manager even though we were there twice.

We have mixed feelings about our stay at Bannisters. The location is STUNNING, and the hotel is beautiful. The rooms are great, though they could probably use a refresh. The restaurant is wonderful, and the staff were welcoming.

We didn't feel like the hotel offered much value. I'll go as far as to say it was overpriced, and some things actually felt a bit petty. To start, if you book through Expedia, you do not get the included continental breakfast. I called the hotel before booking to ask questions about the different rooms, and was told there was no difference between booking on their website or through Expedia. When I told this to them on checkin, we were told we could purchase the continental breakfast for $25 per person, per day.

After checking in to our room, I did was most of us do and connected to the \"free wifi\". I was a bit annoyed to find out that to use the wifi, you have to agree to receive marketing emails from not only Bannisters, but a fairly vague \"our partners\". This reads to me as \"we're going to sell your email to marketers\". I begrudgingly agreed, only to be taken to another step where I had to share a check-in on facebook.

This is all fine for a mall, or an airport, but it just felt cheap at a 4.5 star resort. We spent more on this hotel than anything in our past, and both agreed that you're paying that premium exclusively for the location, and nothing more. It's a 3-4 star hotel minus the location.

We loved our stay at Bannisters. The room was beautiful and the view was amazing. We stayed in a spa room. We got to relax in a spa on the deck overlooking the ocean.
The staff were genuinely lovely. Loved the pool bar and Rick Stein’s restaurant was amazing.
It was a great romantic trip away, highly recommend.

Disappointing experience- I was very dissatisfied with the quality of the room. The bathroom was old and dirty. Bed not comfortable until an extra topper was requested. If you are staying, I wouldn’t recommend spending more for the spa suite as it is lead in quality room type. Just book the cheapest room, that way you have a better chance of your expectations being met. Only positive would be the Rick Stein Restaurant for dinner. Breakfast staff very monotonous. All rooms need to be refurbished for this property to be classed as luxury.
You will have the same experience staying at the motel on the water nearby.

A lovely midweek night away. We were staying with a newborn on the second floor. Unfortunately there was no lift which made getting up and down with the pram a little tricky. However, the friendly staff were very accommodating. Great view and location, and wonderful restaurant. Will definitely be back.

4 nights at Bannisters was just what the doctor ordered. Friendly staff from reception to breakfast staff. The Continental Breakfast is by far the best I’ve ever had. So much choice. Dinner at Rick Steins was a must and worth every cent. Not much to do in the area locally but just to sit on the balcony and enjoy the views was all we needed. Would definitely stay again.
