I want to share an honest review of this place. Getting there is rough, though not the owners’ fault—the mountain drive is intense but worth it, and an easier route from Mayagüez should be mentioned, along with advising guests to arrive before nightfall. The property is absolutely stunning and impeccably clean; this is a wilderness-style accommodation, and the flowers, animals, and weather make it truly enchanting. The staff is very young but sweet and kind, pleasant when service was needed, though often appearing unmotivated; the dining room view is beautiful. Unfortunately, the administrator was not welcoming and did not greet us proactively. The food was disappointing—served cold, overly salty, uninteresting, with no desserts offered; the best item I had was an egg sandwich. That said, the coffee alone is worth the visit. This place is beautiful, but being so remote, good food is essential. I was raised in Mayagüez, live in the States, and am a chef with hospitality experience. I left one night early despite having paid, and I truly hope improvements are made because the place has great potential.

.my concern is the 150.
00 additional charge she called a hold. i hope it gets refunded. and 3 pages i signed in in spanish i don't know what it said and she did not speak much english. i think we were the only ones there. its more like a rustic boy scout camp. we thought it was a coffee farm
but it wasn’t.

The room and hotel were nice. But they need to have the restaurant open the whole week. The place is secluded and quiet; but there are no restaurants close to the hotel, only a small bakery/pizza place. Therefore its quite a hassle to get some place for a meal from Monday to Thursday.

This is the third time I've stayed at the hacienda, but the first time alone. One of my favorite places to stay in the island. The staff is friendly and helpful, the decor of the room was lovely, and the views are amazing. When I visit the hacienda I'm looking foward to walk around the coffe plants, and birdwatch. Definetly would come again.

The place is super clean. Pool was great. The property is beautiful. But they need to modernize the rooms. Our room had the most uncomfortable sofa bed ever. You could feel and see the coils. Our 9 year old had to sleep with us in the full bed. I was bit by a wasp at night. It apparently entered via one of the old style shutters that did not close properly. The next day I saw through the bath window a few wasp \"nests\". I was sent an email with the restaurant hours and they were not correct. They were not open mondays. Also they soda and candy machine on property did not work. No fridge in the room. We had to go 15 or 20 mins out to have breakfast. The place has potential and nice staff but needs work.

My stay at Hacienda Juanita was average. The facility is suitable for those looking to be in contact with nature. The check-in was poor. The lady (Nicole) was unfriendly and did not share any recommendations about the facility or the surrounding area. We could hear noise from the common areas and the kitchen.

Place was great. Rooms can use a microwave, a table with at least 2 chairs to seat and snack and the restroom shower needs shelve to place soap and other body shower components. Some areas of the room were dark, light did not reach them. Room was very spacious and super clean. Personnel was excellent and loved having a restaurant on site.

The hotel delivers everything it promises, like a pool, comfortable rooms, air conditioning, super comfy beds, and beautiful natural scenery, but there’s one big downside—the restaurant. The food is really bad. I recommend hiring a better chef because it doesn’t live up to what you’d expect when visiting a place like this. The worst part is that Maricao is such a small town, there aren’t many other dinner options around.

This is a lovely property at the edge of a forested natural area. The location is terrific if you want to be in nature (which I did!). Each staff member was super friendly. The pool was clean (and warm!) and the courtyard just wonderful. The flowering trees, abundance of birds, and adjacent trails were dreamy. Our balcony was amazing.

It would be good for anyone visiting to know in advance about the difficulties in eating, especially dinner. The café on the property is open 8-4 M-Th, and then you have to forage for yourself for dinner. This is hard because the roads are twisty, steep, and dark. The nearest town has very little to eat and other towns would be an impossibly hard drive away.

Knowing this, I got a room with a kitchenette. But I found out, only on arrival, that the kitchenette had zero cookware, plates, glasses, or cutlery. Thankfully, the staff lent me items from the cafe, but I still couldn't really cook, although I could heat water.

There's internet available near the check-in counter but not in your rooms.

I could imagine this place really soaring with a few upgrades: more food (and more vegetarian food); some enhancements for birdwatchers or other nature-lovers (like bird feeders, outdoor lights that are motion-activated rather than on all the time, less gas-powered gardening during the day, etc); and more amenities (there was really just soap and towels).

Thanks to the staff for being friendly and accommodating! And hello to the owls!

The room had no window, so no fresh air or natural light. You can open a door, but with no screen, insects would be a problem. We stayed so we could go birdwatching in the area, but there are limited trails and birding along the hilly and curving roads with no berms is dangerous. Happy to leave.

The drive up the mountain is not for the weak of heart but it was beautifull road straight through the jungle. Property was nice, beautiful location with farm animals and giant banana plantation and a view down the mountain.
Contrary to what is advertised, there is no wifi and we were advised against using the foldout sofabed. There also were no extra blankets, which would have been nice because we didnt realize how cold it got up in the mountains.
When i called to confirm my reservation, there was nobody who spoke English, so i tried my best with my Spanish and was told that I did not have a reservation. I had somebody fluent in Spanish call on my behalf after that and she was told the same thing. At the end of the conversation she asked the receptionist to check again to see if there was a reservation under my name and guess what??? There was! After that they were calling me several times for a valid credit card number even though I picked the option of paying when i arrived.
I was hoping to fall asleep to sounds of nature, but there was actually a party going on outside until maybe midnight, which had karaoke, so i fell asleep to sounds of tonedeaf humans instead.
Beautiful location, once in a lifetime experience but beware of the long and windy drive up a narrow mountain road that I definitely dont recommend after dark, false advertisement, miscomunication, and noisy and cold nights!
*update* I just noticed that they charged me 3 times for the one night stay!

We stayed 2 nights for a family reunion. The place is rustic but well kept. The room was dark because it didn’t have windows only a wooden door into a balcony which I was afraid to leave open at night in fear of critters flying in. The bathroom didn’t have a towel rack or soap dispenser with very poor lighting. There were only two bed pillows in the bed. The food at the restaurant was really good and priced reasonably. Overall, if you like hiking and peaceful country life (listening to roosters, goats and cows) this is the place for you.

Is a beautiful area in the mountains. The only thing is that the staff is not that responsive, and I have to wait a week for a safe refund. Also, they have an almost desert hotel, and they put a noisy couple near our room. They can learn a little more hospitality, and with more advertising it can be an excellent place.

Great retreat away from buzzle and Hussle

The Hacienda views were Amazing. The place itself is so remote -you arrive via uphill roads in middle of nowhere so plan ahead because you could get lost at night and GPS may fail you in certain areas- but worth the trip. The Hacienda offered us a fantastic treat of Puerto Rico's quiet countryside and its unique beautiful Nature. Many coquis mixed in at nighttime filing the air with local sounds to accommodate farm raised sheep's and even a pig onsite. In the morning, the Rooster's crow sounds heavenly. This Place was so beautiful and serene. Our bedroom needed better lighting, but our bed was comfortable, and the place was well manicured and Star gazing at night was magnificent. It was All quiet and clean. The Christmas decor was also in place which made it so festive. And the lady in charge of kitchen made a fantastic breakfast plus composteao rice for dinner that was so tasty Yummy and Magnificent. The only disappointment was the coffee -as offered, it was surprisingly lame-watered down and weak- I expected better being that they sell and breed coffee in this area, so this particularly was a bit disappointing but all else was good and the staff was okay. Not excessively friendly but rather reserved and bit suspicious-unlike other encounters we had in the island with its welcoming people. Perhaps because this is a place that's frequently visited by locals so other tourists can be seen a bit invasive or off key.

El lugar es un sitio bien tranquilo donde conectas con la naturaleza. No hay ningún tipo de actividad extra a parte de caminar y sentir la naturaleza o comer o la piscina. Hoy lunes la mesera del restaurante fue nada amable y parecía tener coraje. El muchacho que nos atendió la noche antes fue bien agradable y servicial. El menú es escaso y encima al ordenar no tienen muchos platos disponibles. Tostones si y mofongo no, ¿en serio? No tienen descafeinado y tampoco hay cafetera en la habitación. La habitación es como remontarse al 1950 tranquilo y bonito pero no hay a/c y la cama es dura y ruidosa. La habitación huele a madera, no muy agradable el olor.

The dinning staff it is HORRIBLE, you can hear their conversation back in the kitchen the first night they took 47 minutes to make to sandwiches with salami, cheese and butter I time it ( I have been in the dining industry for over 15 yrs) next day we went for breakfast my wife’s French toast was iced cold my eggs dry from microwave I only know because of the way the cheese was melted, the bread was 1 or 2 days old the only thing I enjoy of my breakfast was the ham. I order a coffee cortadito at the time I place my order and I had to ask for my coffee before I left because the cashier/server never made it neither the lady that bought us or breakfast. This is a great place, nice cabin nice pool you can sleep nice and comfortable but the service was horrible. The best service I had it with the lady that does the check in and check out.
