Our experience at TRYP by Wyndham Mayagüez was extremely disappointing. While the hotel itself looks decent, the service was unacceptable and made our stay very frustrating.
On the first night, our room had no water. We immediately reported the issue to Louis at the front desk, who told us maintenance would come, but no one ever arrived. There was no follow-up call, no update, and no effort made to check whether the issue had been resolved. 🚫
The next day, our room was not cleaned at all. When we asked about it, we were told they were short-staffed, but no one informed us in advance. The response from the front desk was cold and dismissive, with no apology or attempt to accommodate the inconvenience.
Another constant issue was the parking garage gate. Every time we returned to the hotel, the gate remained closed and did not open automatically. We repeatedly had to get out of the car and ask the front desk to manually open it because staff were not paying attention. 🚗
Basic communication, responsiveness, and guest service were clearly lacking throughout our stay. For the price paid, this level of service is unacceptable. We would not stay here again and cannot recommend this hotel.

My stay was good overall, but there are a few areas that could be improved. The pool was very cold, so adding a heater would make it much more enjoyable. Additionally, the TV did not have access to Netflix, which is something guests typically expect nowadays. With these improvements, the experience would be much better.

El hotel es muy bonito, el staff excelente, super atentos y amables. Primera vez que nos quedamos en un hotel en el mismo pueblo, fue un poco extraño, pero céntrico. Lo único que aunque estuvimos dos noches, esperábamos toallas limpias el segundo día. La habitación bien limpia y bonita. El restaurante Casa Abu, aunque el menú de lunch/dinner es limitado, cocinan espectacular, un sazón que nos enamoró. El budín, comeríamos 100 de ellos. Un desayuno que jamás hemos probado uno tan delicioso, es todo el sazón. Definitivamente regresaríamos.

The room was in really good condition. The staff were very nice. The only negative was that you could hear the footsteps of the room above. I only stayed 1 night so it was not a deal breaker. However if I needed to stay longer, i’m not sure i’d stay unless I had the top floor.

I stayed one night at the TRYP Hotel in Mayagüez. Overall, it was a comfortable stay with several positive aspects, but there are a few areas that could be improved.

The access to the room was convenient, and the hotel offers several services that are a plus, such as parking and a snack bar at the entrance. The staff was very friendly and welcoming, which made the stay more pleasant. The bathroom amenities were also good quality.

On the downside, the pillows were too high and uncomfortable. There were visible signs of humidity and areas that seemed to lack proper maintenance. Additionally, the TV in the room felt too large for the size of the space and the distance from the bed. The brightness could not be adjusted, making it almost impossible to watch comfortably.

With some attention to maintenance and room comfort details, this hotel could offer a much better experience.

Las facilidades y cuarto estuvieron limpias y renovadas. Placentero a la vista. La hubicación del hotel muy buena, era muy facil encontrar que hacer y restaurante para ir a pie. Le doy 3 estrellas por que necesite que refrescaran la habitación, puse el cartel en la puerta y notifique en recepción y personal desde la mañana y no fue hasta las 7 pm que yo misma le pedi al personal que estaba en el pasillo toallas limpias y donde hechar la basura. El hotel estaba muy lleno y no había suficiente personal para atender las necesidades de los huespedes. El lugar de la piscina era muy bonito, pero el agua de la piscina estaba muy fría, no pudimos difrutar de ella. Si regresara, tal vez fuera en temporada baja y en estaciones calientes.

Room was small, very narrow hall to enter the unit. This made it tricky just to roll in luggage. Room was freezing. Guest have no control over AC settings. Front desk advised AC was controlled offsite and they had no way to access it to help me. I finally unplugged the unit for the night and plugged it back in when checking out the next morning. Thankfully it was only a one night stay to continue the road trip.

Staff was friendly and helpful. They brought in an extra blanket.

Location is very convenient to Mayaguez town Square. Enjoyed a night out viewing Three Kings decorations. Casa Abu is a nice little restaurant for dinner and breakfast that is accessible from the hotel parking lot.

This is a lovely hotel. It has an open roof that opens over the pool and my room was closer to the outdoor portion so I think that is why there were a couple of small bugs in our room. I used a bug replellant that plugs into the wall and it worked. Otherwise, the room was clean and the staff was pleasant. Always attentive and alert. Parking was easier, once you arrived and its located in the heart of Mayaguez Pueblo. I would rent again.

There was no hot water stsrting with the first night of our 4 night stay. They fixed it the last night we were there. The pool was not operational. There was 1 night we went diwn for towels and they had no clean towels. The floors in the room was very dirty. The toilet seat was broken snd they did vome fix that They refused to work with us to refund money so we could stay somewhere else.

Hotel is fine. Needs a little extra care in rooms. We had been there a year ago and liked it, so we decided to book it again. The restaurant in the hotel (Casa Abu) was terrible. We went for dinner one night, breakfast the next day and drinks another night. Super slow service (more than an hour for an omelette). The afternoon we went for drinks ordered some appetizers that never arrived, when asked our waitress after 1.5 hours of waiting she just told us that there was only 1 person in the kitchen. We also ordered several mojitos which were horrible, we could not drink them. When we told the waitress she just told us that she used the right measurements to prepare them and charged for them.

El aire es demasiado potente para la pequeña habitación de una cama doble y al estar tan frío y ponerlo más caliente se condensó todo el cuarto. El frío era irresistible. El banõ es súper pequeño y la puerta del baño se cierra automáticamente lo que hace a uno estar abriendo y cerrando la puerta cuando no es necesario. Tuve que pinchar la puerta con mi maleta para poder mantenerla abierta la mayor parte del tiempo. De verdad lo del aire fue una tortura. Todo lo demeas muy bien. El hotel es chic y accesible a todo,

Para empezar cuando hicimos la reservación en Hotels.com, no nos incluyeron el costo de casi $14 diarios por estacionar. Pagué por una habitación cama Queen y me enviaron a una habitación cama, cuando reclamé en el Front, me dijeron que esa era una cama Queen. Mi esposo y yo tomamos las medidas para confirmar definitivamente esa no es la medida de una cama Queen. No pudimos meternos en la piscina, porque la piscina no se dejen llevar por las fotos, la piscina es Mega pequeña y está frente al Front de todo el que pasa te ve por unos cristales y nunca le da el sol. Definitivamente estamos bien decepcionado de ese hotel, y no volvemos allí.

Upon check in was not advise that the parking had a fee, just fill out the form. Then upon entering the room, was caught off guard with the small room and bed. The pictures and in person completely different. Went to the pool and no pool towels available. Asked front desk and was stated that all the towels were in laundry that all the towels were used alll day because the pool was busy. In the bedroom, no remote for tv, barely any channels, also lost signal on channels mid movie. No creamer, sugar and or stir sticks available for coffee. Upon calling front desk was advised that the housekeepers were around that when they’d knock to ask for it. Waited about 20 minutes. Nothing. Went downstairs and told him that as a guest I shouldn’t have to be waiting for when the housekeeper goes around to see if room is ready for cleaning. Waited another 10 minutes before receiving a cup of milk, 8 sugars and a knife and fork set. Will not be staying at this property again or recommending to anyone.
