A beautiful rural location with wonderful countryside views and nature in abundance in an elegant and very well cared for property. Attention to detail in seen throughout the hotel from arrival in the car park, through a perfectly manicured courtyard and pleasant reception area.

My room looked out onto fields . Two large windows that let a lovely breeze into the room.

Elegantly decorated room with all you need for a comfortable stay and perfect sleep. The bed was a dream. I slept all night through. Great power shower in a large bathroom with lovely fluffy towels.

Breakfast was delicious with a good selection of continental choices in a beautifully decorated dining room.

I opted for the Yorkshire breakfast with poached egg option. Everything was high quality, warm, tasted wonderful and served by lovely people who made our stay a pleasure. Good quality coffee was a treat too. I almost opted for avocado crumpets, they sounded amazing but was very pleased with my choice.

Check in and check out a breeze too.

What a superb asset Loftsome Bridge hotel is. I'd fully recommend stays for anyone.

We spent two nights at Loftsome Bridge House whilst we attended a wedding nearby. It is a short distance from the M62 but the setting is totally rural and peaceful. We stayed in one of the cottages which was comfortable, had all of the amenities (iron, ironing board, fan,hairdryer etc). Breakfast had a good choice and was a feast if you wanted.
Finally, the staff are so welcoming and friendly. We would definitely go back

The cottage rooms are very tired with broken bathroom fittings and outdated sanitary ware. The bedroom needs a good clean and updating the carpets and furnishings. There are never enough staff to provide a timely dining or breakfast experience. The staff are very pleasant but the limited staffing makes a responsive service impossible. Investment required before customers start to go elsewhere.

A warm informative welcome, backed up by written mealtime info etc.

Evening meal well presented fish and curry dish beautifully cooked. Excellent.
The chocolate sweet also good but flavour was overpowered by the strong sauce covering the whole dish
Probably would have been better striped or spotted onto the plate. Or even a separate jug.
Extremely good overall meal.

All breakfasts top grade. Excellent ingredients and presentation second to none.

On our evening meal the second night i was sad to have to complain about the fish and chips. (Both the gluten free, and the standard ) the fish was thin and not
of good texture. I could not believe the difference in the standard of previous meals.

However the complaint was adressed with reasonable speed and satisfaction.

You have a super business model here but might be better to remove fish and chips from your menu..

We really enjoyed our stay at this hotel. It’s a lovely historic building and the current owners have done a great job on the decor. The hosts and their staff were pleasant, friendly and helpful and the food was very good. We really couldn’t fault anything and if we’re travelling this way again we would definitely book again.

We received a warm welcome when we checked in. Our room was spotless and had quality bed/bedding etc. Also had a spacious, well appointed bathroom. We had an excellent night's sleep. Lovely hotel in a quiet spot. Owners were incredibly welcoming and accommodating, breakfast was amazing. Rooms (family cottage) were dated but clean, comfortable and spacious, and had all the facilities you need, and there were plenty of nice touches. Communal areas (bar, restaurant) were modern and bright.
The outdoor spaces were also lovely, with our ‘family cottage’ rooms looking onto the tranquil pond.

We stayed in one of the cottages which although a bit dated offer a lot of space and character. The room itself was spotless and comfortable with everything you could possibly need. Loftsome bridge although off a main road for convenience is lovely and quite due to it being a good distant back from it, so you get the best of both worlds a good nights sleep and connectivity to all the local attractions with York not being too far away. What makes Loftsome Bridge special is the staff they are amazing. We will definitely be staying here again next year when visiting relatives

Stayed one night at The Loftsome Bridge hotel and would definitely book to stay there again. The courtyard outside of reception had a nice seating area and a lily pond. Our room was super clean (as was the the rest of the hotel), and the beds were very comfortable. The bathroom was relatively big and had a bath, which was perfect as we cycled there and our muscles needed some TLC. I also liked that we could open the bedroom windows. Dinner and breakfast were excellent and throughout our stay all staff were polite and welcoming.

Enjoyed the stay at Loftsome bridge but a major criticism is that the restaurant takes the last order at 7:30pm and it’s in the middle of nowhere so it’s necessary to have a car. Ended up having to check into another hotel for one night to enjoy going out for dinner. There is also no lift for heavy suitcases. They also charge extra for specialty coffees/ hot chocolate which seems absurd when the full breakfast is part of the deal. However, the staff were friendly and it is a beautiful hotel. Take spray for mosquitoes as plenty outside. Could have benefitted from board/ card games for guests as entertainment is limited. Comfortable bed and lovely room/ bathroom.

Really beautiful property with good facilities. We arrived late and left early in the morning for a wedding, as such didn’t get the full benefit of the stay. It was good value for the area, breakfast was lovely. Scored slightly lower in one area as the bathroom blind was in a poor state and needs repairing. We had to put a few items in the window to hold it in place or people could see in. Would stay again though, would be nice to spend more time discovering the area.

Checked in and given key to room. On entering it was not the room type booked and paid for.
Was given an external cottage room. Booked a four poster bedroom. Eventually was given the room as my confirmation but said it hadn't shown on their system.
Was then informed everything shut at 4pm on a Sunday so no restaurant for food and no bar for drinks. None of this information is on any of their websites so no pre warning. Hotel was shut down at 4. No restaurant no bar and no reception.
Doors were locked and nobody available on the property.
Bedroom smelt frousty also.

It was predicted to be a hot day on our booked date , so we asked for electric fan in our room in advance , but none when we arrived and was only given a tiny electric fan/ heater when requested which didn’t do much with the heat in the room . Beautiful setting, will definitely stay again. We have stayed in a few hotel/ guest houses nearby but this will ve our number one choice in future.
One or two minor gripes: shower list all water halfway through which was awkward but no real explanation given other than everyone myst be using the shower at the same time.
Continebral breakfast was very disappointing. Boxed cereal and no 'freshly baked bread abd pastries '. Unfortunately this wasn't mentiobed when we ordered. The cooked breakfast was very good and there was a plentiful supply of tea and coffee.

Staying here was a pleasant surprise. I find it hard to believe this place has not been completely refurbished since 2021. The paint work looks new. As do the carpets. Our bedroom was perfectly peaceful. We stayed in room 4 which has a four poster bed. The ensuite was large and spacious and elegantly decorated.
The staff were super friendly including our waitress at our evening meal and at our breakfast. The meals we received were very good we would recommend eating at the hotel.
I cannot think of any reason to book anywhere else than Loftsome Bridge and that's what we will be doing next time we wre in the area.

Potential countryside gem in need of tlc

Accommodation: room very dated (carpets, furniture) in need of tlc, but clean, quiet and convenient. Shower curtains over bath not contemporary. Bed comfortable, nice linen.

Food: pricey for what was served, of varying quality. Bread to accompany cold starter were cheap, buttered, untoasted, supermarket slices, which is not what you'd expect with a £10 starter.
Breakfast selection for continental sparse (items like fresh pastries entirely awol, despite on menu); selection of cooked breakfast ok, but supplements charged for specialty coffees and certain items like scrambled egg with salmon, which is incongruous considering a walk-in price of £14 per head (otherwise, breakfast is included in room rate).
The free filter coffee offered at breakfast was strong, hot and freshly brewed; what we ate was tasty and of good quality.
Service at dinner knowledgeable, professional, friendly (clearly trained waiter). Breakfast (different waiter) sadly not: our request to substitute items on cooked full English with more of another (e.g. swap beans for additional hash brown) resulted in items just being taken off, which was disappointing.

Value for money: room rate is just about ok, but restaurant needs tighter quality control in kitchen; breakfast offer and service require overhaul.

So all in all very much a mixed experience.

With some updating of rooms (flooring, furniture, bathroom) and better food this could be a little gem of a countryside hotel in a pretty setting.

Great stay overall.

The staff were very professional and friendly. Someone was on reception when I arrived in the evening at c.8.30pm, contrary to what was said in the the note I received from Hotels.com prior (i.e. that reception closes at 7.30pm). There is plenty of free on-site parking, which was convenient.

The building is beautiful, nicely maintained and the setting is quite special, in the countryside and beside the Derwent River.

If I had a criticism of sorts, it would be that the interior of my room (one of the cottages) felt a bit dated, i.e. the curtains, furniture, carpet, paint on the walls / woodwork.

Breakfast was tasty, nicely cooked and presented. The dining room comfortable and well presented.

In summary, I would certainly stay here again and recommend, but do suggest that that the interior should be updated where needed.

Lovely relaxed stay

The staff were friendly, warm and welcoming. The hotel was lovely and clean. The food was excellent with a varied menu. The atmosphere was pleasantly relaxing. The only out of place thing was a stain on the carpet of one of the three rooms we had booked.

Lovely stay at this hotel. We stayed in the cottages and it was so quiet with a lovely view over the pond.
The food in the restaurant was very good for both breakfast and dinner.
