The owner Herman was amazing! So friendly, saw him in town and he made sure to say hi and chat about our time there the next day. Breakfast was exceptional! Rooms were no frills, like warm shower. Beds left a little to be desired, but the stay was overall a great experience.

L'hôtel offre le meilleur déjeuner que nous avons eu au Nicaragua. Il n'y a qu'une seule option, mais elle est très complète avec un bol de fruit, un jus/smoothie, une omelette jambon/fromage et des fèves et riz. Excellent!
Nous avions la moins belle chambre de toute (sans vue et sans accès au balcon du 2e), mais ça ne m'a pas empêcher de profiter des lieux. Le climatiseur fonctionne. La salle de bain est fonctionnelle. Je suis satisfaite.
La position de l'hôtel est parfaite! Nous sommes à 5 minutes à pied du centre-ville, mais juste assez loin pour ne pas avoir le bruits des auberges de jeunesses et de la discothèque de plage. J'ai adoré marcher en ville par la plage.
Pendant nos 3 nuits à cet hôtel, nous avons vu plus de personnes du Nicaragua que de touristes internationaux. Pour moi, cela confirme que c'est un excellent rapport qualité/prix

Parking is tight. Ended up having to pay addition money at check in that was not disclosed in the addition reservation which was prepaid. Did not provide each guest a towel and when asked for additional towels asked if we could share. They did end up providing everyone with a towel. That’s just understood. Breakfast was amazing and the morning staff just as amazing. Views were great and we loved being right on the beach.

Quieter area on the edge of town where you can hear the ocean waves yet an easy walk into town and to beach. No problem walking across the sand path a few blocks to SJDS.

We loved this hotel! Our room was tidy and the staff was very friendly, especially late when we checked in. The breakfast was very tasty and the views impeccable.

The only issue was that this was a bit difficult to find. On Google Maps, it looks like there is a walkable bridge from the main part of San Juan to the hotel but that bridge has long been washed away we found out. So the only convenient way to reach downtown San Juan is to walk along the beach which means getting your feet wet. Not a huge issue, but bring sandals if you don't want wet socks!

This is a great beach front hotel. The hotel was very clean. Small rooms and baths but you spend all your time outside rather than to sleep. We were a little disappointed at first when we thought we were getting individual balconies but the large balconies on each floor was very large and great for happy hours. The staff was awesome and worked very hard for our every wish. The breakfast was the best we have eaten in Central America. Outstanding. Only thing that would have been nice was some screens n the windows. Just a suggestion we feel would be helpful

This is the place to stay!

The staff at HC Liri are top notch! We enjoyed our stay so much that we came back early to stay an extra night. It is a short walk to town (5 mins. max along the beach or street) and we loved the location, breakfast and pool area. Shuttles available to local beaches and the views from the hotel veranda are breathtaking.

The staff at this hotel are FABULOUS, but the location is a bit difficult. The only access to the town is walking around a lagoon on the beach. That's fine if you are in beach clothes, but when you want to go out at night in street clothes you either have to get covered with sand or take a taxi quite a long way.

My wife and I stayed a week here, it was amazing. The owner is great he is there everyday taking care of anything you might need. The property is spotless and the pool always crystal clear and refreshing. The staff was always friendly and wanting to help or get anything you needed. The owner and the person that checks you in speak english which is a plus. The staff really get to know you and just not your room number. We stayed in room 9 which is on the ground level by the pool. I would recommend this room. The breakfast is amazing. There is always coffee and tea available 24 hours a day. The hotel sits right on the beach. We watched the sunset from the pool each night. The hotel provides surf boards to use. This is one of the nicest hotels in San Juan. I am very glad we stayed there. We will definitely stay here again.

Know what and where you are booking.

We approached the hotel by car. I immediately had a bad impression. but after we checked in that changed. We had a wonderful stay. Like most Latin American hotels it is a small hotel there might have been 10 rooms. There's a staff member there 24 hours a day and during normal hours during the day there are probably four staff members eager to help you with any of your needs. They kept the hotel constantly clean.
Location: when we arrived it was high tide. Seeing the not so attractive brackish water and having to get to the city in a boat pulled by people looked interesting but not what I was expecting. We had a car so it didn't really matter. However at low tide we fell in love with this hotel. The beach is so gradual that during low tide you have about 400 ft of beach to get to the water. beautiful strolls along this approximately 3/4 of a mile Beach. the location to the center of the city during low tide is a beautiful 10 or 15 minute walk with many restaurants along the way. If you want to stay right next to the restaurants and the busy streets choose a different Hotel. If you want things to be a little quieter and romantic stay at this one.
The beach was fascinating. I'm color deficient but still the black brown and white sand make the most interesting patterns as the waves splash on the beach. The various color shells and rocks that can be found near the Stream that enters near the hotel are fascinating and beautiful.
We will be staying here again.

Not \"on\" the beach exactly, but very close. Nice pool, no umbrellas and SJDS is HOT. Great typical Nica breakfast available, but not included. Lots of coffee and tea at all times. Book early, we waited and got a room with bunkbeds that we did not need.....foot bridge is gone, crashed down 2 yrs ago. You have to navigate narrow, slippery \"path\" to beach - tourists and locals; walk on beach to town maybe 6-7 min, walk on road 30 minutes. Great staff here, very friendly and helpful!

A Little piece of paradise

We totally enjoyed our stay. The owner of the hotel could not be anymore helpful, especially as I was sick the day I arrived. He went out of his way to make us feel comfortable to assist us in anyway he could. The Hotel is located on the beach and is an idyllic paradise. You are far enough away from the bars, etc that the noise will not bother you. Service was exceptional. Will definitely return. We were there for 3 nights.

Cute Little Hotel on the Beach BUT....

This cute little hostel on the beach is well maintained with well appointed rooms. The pool is well kept and you can literally walk right onto the sand. It is about a 10 minute walk to the center of town but it always a joy to make along the beach. The only issue I had with the hotel is that it advertises free full breakfast for all room types on this site but they do not honor it when you arrive. When I arrived I was told that breakfast was not included with my online rate and that it would be an additional $5 per person per day. I showed them this site and my reservation that clearly said full breakfast included and they would not budge. For me, this was a huge negative due to the extra cost, the dishonesty and poor response from the staff. Otherwise, a nice little hotel for a decent price.

Nice hotel with great staff

My boyfriend and I had a wonderful experience with this hotel. Check-in was fast and simple. The hotel even let us choose which floor we wanted to stay on. The staff was extremely nice and helpful with all of our questions.

The room was nice and spacious. The AC worked well and the bathroom was a good size and clean. They had maids who cleaned the rooms every day. Our only complaint was that the mattress was hard and lumpy BUT it did not affect our ability to get a good nights sleep. The hotel was open air which we liked and had great spots to lounge and relax on both the upper and lower back patios.The pool was nice and refreshing and clean. The shower was nice and big and had hot water.

Breakfast each day was delicious. They served you which was nice. Each morning you got a bowl of fruit as well as a basket of toast and butter/jelly. There was only one option for the main dish each morning but it was delicious each time. We had a ham and cheese omelette the first morning and scrambled eggs with peppers the next morning. Both served with gallo pinto.

The only negative was the walk into town. The suspension bridge to cross the river collapsed back in April so we had to walk on the beach to get to town which was fine except the first night when we had to walk through the river/ocean to get to and from dinner. The 2nd night the tide was low and it was not an issue. We would still stay at this hotel every time despite this small inconvenience.

A wonderful small hotel close to the beach in SJDS

We enjoyed this small hotel very much. It is a very good value for San Juan del Sur where prices continue to go up. What we liked were the staff and owners who are very pleasant and attentive. Having a small pool there was very nice and it is great as you have views of the beach and surf from the hotel. We highly recommend this hotel and would gladly go back there again.

Although the room was basic, this hotel was our favorite of many that we stayed in while traveling Nica. The owners/staff at HC LIRI made our stay amazing! They were so sweet and accommodating, helpful and generous. Had wonderful home cooked meals and they helped us sort out all of the activities we wanted to do. Quiet location short distance from town. Excellent outlook onto beach. Nice room. Good pool. Excellent breakfast. Very attentive staff who provided good information on surrounding area & onward travel.

Cute and quiet boutique hotel off the beaten path

This is a great hotel in a perfect location - off the beaten path but within easy walking distance of the center of San Juan del Sur. I really enjoyed being on the beach and walking across the bridge to go to the restaurants and pubs. The owners are very pleasant, the staff is great. Breakfast was simple but delicious. The rooms are sparse but functional. There is no hot water, if that is important to you, and I would have preferred some type of shelf in the bathroom to put personal items. Other than that, a perfect stay, and I would definitely recommend it to others and stay there again myself.

Quiet spot

HC Liri is run by friendly people. My things were secure there with 24 hour security even without a safe. It was on the outside of town, so very close without the noise. No fan though - so I couldn't hear the surf at night, only the hum of the air conditioner. No hot water. Pricey for the amenities, about $20 more than I would expect, but I would stay again because I like the quiet and I loved the walks into town. SJDS is getting pricier due to tourism.
