I will have to say the drive was beautiful for the scenery. I'm not real big on winding roads. So that's just one takeaway. But once I arrived, I was so impressed and loved the atmosphere. It was beautiful, relaxing, and it felt like a fantastic getaway. I was there, celebrating my brother in law for his birthday. I guess I get to at least look forward to coming out there once a year because that will be his favorite place to go on is birthday each year. God willing. It was nice and clean inside the room. I brought my maltese with me and he was greeted with a basket with some treats. It had a frisbee to catch. Super sweet. Just make sure you read the suggestions as there are.Some rules when bringing your dog, if you have one. Other than that he was also welcomed. The check in was fantastic smooth.In inviting. And if you just so happen to forget something at home, there is a safe way, not too far from the place. I figure maybe about less than five minutes away. So it's a pretty all around.Great place.I will definitely be happy to visit again.

The property was beautiful, stayed a night in cottage - 24, it has 2 queen beds a comfortable couch and sitting chair , coffee table and 4 chair and table dinette. The cottage has plenty of room, 2 flat screen tvs, heater and air worked great! Nice grounds to walk around and friendly staff. Close to town for restaurants. Excellent choice for a stay in Clearlake !

Horrible AC

The rooms are nice, but the wall AC was horrible. The day I stayed it was just over 100 degrees, and the AC didn't cool the room at all. I turned it on when I arrived as the room was crazy hot and went out to dinner for 1.5 hours. When I returned it hadn't cooled at all and the ACwas just blowing hot air. I requested a different room and they quickly moved me to another room. The new room was crazy hot, so I turned on the AC and went out to the pool until about 9:00 pm. When I returned it hadn't cooled at all. It was hotter in the room than outside, so I opened the windows. After about an hour it was finally cool enough to close the windows, but it was still around 78-80 degrees. I think the wall AC units they have are just to small to cool the rooms when it is over 90 degrees outside. I have stayed here before when the temps were lower and never had an issue. I will never stay again unless the temps are below 90.

Beautiful property and location however everyone who lives locally is on substances and it was really uncomfortable. The property is right off the lake and you get a beautiful view. None of the locals bother you or come near the property so that was good. We were in town visiting my grandparents and clear lake is such a beautiful location. If we do come back I wouldn't mind staying at this location again. Booking was easy along with checking in and out. If you need any assistance the manager is a phone call away. The view is breathtaking! I also liked that our cottage had a stove, so we cooked everyday saving us money. The cleaning ladies were super helpful and attentive as well. Overall it was a great stay. Just be aware of the locals because just about everyone is on substances unfortunately. Also there was a ton of nats/bugs flying around so when you walk, fingers crossed nothing flys in your mouth or eyes lol, but we know its common for lakes to have bugs. Lastly i would recommend this specific property, oh and they allow dogs which is a plus!

It was real clean but the electricity at the dock didn't work and was not up the code and very dangerous but after telling me he would give me a refund for the electricity not working he ended up charging me anyways and has very shady business practices at that facility. I called to discuss this with Bob and he told me to be quiet and not talk which I am a grown man and will not be talked to in such a manner, I would never recommend anybody to stay at this facility...

The property was clean and nice and the manager was very helpful. Very happy with my stay there. If I could make one suggestion, it would have been nice to have screens on all the windows so that I could have opened the windows at times. The two small windows that did have screens were on the same wall which didn't help at all for any kind of cross breeze.

The place was rundown. The lake has green slime, smells really bad and you can’t swim in it. What’s the sense of going to a lake if you can enjoy the water.

The property is amazing but shot in the knees by rancid stink from Clearlake. This is something that visitors should keep in mind in summers. Also, the AC in our unit took ages to cool the room, something that the management can look into for the upcoming months.

Opon arrival,moved to another unit due to ants in prior unit. Entered adjusted unit to smell of urine and staff cleaned upon notified. Latern at entry to unit didnot work and staff offerred lantern instead for sdafety fixing the next day.
unable at first to work shower and staff needed to show us how to use as it was an outdated showerhead. Sink in bathroom had large knife cuts in sink. Nice property for fisherman and cute cottage. It appeared many of the other cottages were in much better condition than ours.
Had a small doggie sheet given for room?? Never heard of that.
Checkin/checkout all remote and needed to sign agreement that had the guest do several housekeeping chores when departing. Disappointed in rundown condition of town of ClearLake. Property much better than condition though than surrounding area. Will not return.

All in all a nice cottage but beds could be better

Check in process was easy; veranda and lake view was awesome, though only two veranda chairs for a 4 person unit. Everything was clean and kitchenware was adequate. Hot water and shower were good, and two vanities helped w girls v boys needs.

Though a paper bag was left on the kitchen table w coffee and bathroom supplies, we did not realize until the next day to look for soap and shampoo etc in that bag. It would have been better to: 1) tell lodgers in the info ring binder that these supplies were there , and 2) have enough supplies for the number of people due to stay, specifically shampoo etc.
We were promised a dog bed so didn’t bring our pup’s bed but all they had was a sheet and towel for the dog. The dog food dishes were great, as well as the frisbee.
For us, the worst were this beds. Some of our party are “bigger people” and the bed mattress was such that one of our family was forced to sleep on the couch after the first very sleep-deprived night. Also, as we were there during cold and rainy weather, having a couple of available blankets would have been good.

What a fantastic cabin located right on the lake. To look out our window at water with no obstructions was priceless. The cabin was in perfect condition with everything we needed to cook our meals and BBQ. The onsite manager, Bob, couldn't have been nicer. We wanted to BBQ so badly but it was raining. He came out anyway and started the grill and gave us all the utensils. We will be back.

What a lovely spot!

The comfort started with the friendly one on one communication with Bob, and as we talked his wonderful offer to upgrade our room to a bit more accessible room so my boyfriend (who doesn't always walk comfortably) could park right in front of our cottage...just such a comfy vibe.
Then when we arrived at our wonderful and secure cottage in a really lovely area of Clear Lake Bob stopped by with goodies for us and our pup...so nice!
We watched a lovely sunset behind Mount Konocti while we drank our champagne, then went to Howard's Grotto for a fabulous Prime Rib and Filet Mignon dinner.
We had a wonderful stay. Only a few critiques: The heater fan (which pumped out delicious heat) was quite noisy all night. I also like a very dark room to sleep in but the shades did not provide that (black out curtains of some kind would be nice). The very roomy shower (nice) did not really crank out the kind of hot water my boyfriend and I enjoy. It was hot but would have liked it hotter.
But these were minor issues compared to the very beautiful place and the warm hospitality shown by Bob, the manager. A real gem. We will return again!

The cottage was nice enough. I was not pleased with the \"no contact\" check-in. Seems there were pages and pages of regulations to dig through, and a lot of questions to be answered. I did receive the link prior to my visit, but being on the road I could not fill them all out until I arrived. I did call the number, and was able to provide the pertinent information over the phone (CC number, etc.)

Our cottage view was just like the picture, but even BETTER! The room was huuuuuge, and newly remodeled with beautiful wood flooring and tiled bathroom. Full kitchen, and lots of windows to enjoy the incredible view. We went in March, so it was not busy, but the weather was like Spring. So peaceful, it was just what we needed to unwind. We'll definitely stay here again!

They send an email ahead of our stay saying that there was bacteria in the lake and we wouldn't be able to swim and it was possible there would be an odor. That was fine, but when we arrived the smell was terrible. We swam in the pool anyway, and chatted with the owner and tried to enjoy our stay anyway. We all started to feel a bit sick, and thought we were coming down with something. I finally did some google research about the bacteria, and it has all sorts of health problems if you breath it in as we were doing by being near the lake! We had unknowingly been exposing our children to this health hazard, that the owners knew full well we were exposing our kids to as we splashed in the pool. We left immediately, not wanting to hurt our children's health. I would have appreciated knowing about the health issues for inhalation BEFORE arriving. Just warning us about the smell is not enough. I didn't know we were endangering our health.

Beware, it's as bad as it gets!

Probably the worst place I've stayed in the last 10 years.

Beware, stay away, don't give those folks any business, they don't deserve it! Maybe they were not too bad pre-Covid (according to reviews), but Clear Lake Cottages just sucks now.

Problems (not including the stinking lake):

1) The hotel room is full of insects.

2) They intentionally mislead. The messaging they give you pre-checkin is \"the algae are harmless\"; the letter you find in the hotel room post-checkin warns about cyanotoxin. Official warning levels on Yellow currently.

3) At least 1 of their boats leaks. No joke, there was a hole, and it leaked. Had to apply tape to prevent the worst. That's a bad thing in a lake with blue-green algae.

Worst thing, they don't tell you before giving you the boat that it leaks.

The options to rent boats and kayaks is helpful. You can fish from the property, but go elsewhere to swim in the lake. The pool is clean and adequate. The staff was mixed from friendly, to totally stressed out from other past guests that left a mess or otherwise mistreated the property. Not totally welcoming.

A great weekend getaway

Bob went above and beyond to walk us through the cottage and amenities offered, we had a blast on the lake and the jet skis offered to rent on site. Our view was AMAZING and we couldn’t have asked for a better experience. The only downside was that we stayed one night. Coming back for at least two nights next time! 10/10 recommend :)

Bob at clearlake cottages and marinas was amazing! He was super accommodating and kind. The suite was beautiful and clean, with awesome views of the lake.

My stay at clearlake was superb ! Bob. Was very accomodating and very knowledgable of the good places to go too. My room is very clean and spacious and the view of the lake is spectacular !
