Hotel was clean and room was quite big with terrace. Asked for a double bed and got 2 singles pushed together. No tea/coffee making facility available in room or free water. Breakfast was expensive; others got offered bacon/eggs, we did not just the buffet.
Probably not stay there again

Overall a lovely experience. The hotel is in the perfect location to explore the local coastal area and only 30minutes away from the centre of Santander.
The only things missing is the ability to make a tea/coffee in your room as no kettle available and no iron. For the nightly rate, this would have made the experience more value for money and a nicer experience as the room is essentially room only.

Hotel is nice, clean and simple. It is old although certain parts have been rejuvenated. We had a junior suite and it was very large with a great terrace and an amazing view. We paid extra for the included breakfast, don't bother, the food is absolutely awful. Better off to get something in a cafe nearby.

Its a great location, near the beach and local restaurants. The service was great. Friendly staff! The triple room was comfortable for us. We each had a bed and we also had enough toiletries offered by hotel service. We had a great relaxing experience. The balcony was a plus!

We always use this hotel because it is consistently good- there was a problem with the tv - we reported it at midnight’ish when we got in. They thanked us but it has not been replaced. This is not a big problem as only stopping one night.

Pleasant hotel well situated. The coast is really scenic. Good for coastal walks. Santander is an elegant city. Visited Bilbao, Castro Urdiales, Santillana and Comillas, each within reasonable travelling distance.

big nice rooms, but smelly bathroom (of chlorine). Good thing there was a door closing off bathroom and hallway food smells that stayed in the entrance corridor. Otherwise great sea views, nice staff and modern setup, quiet area close to all the hubbub nearby.

A great hotel

The hotel is close to the beach at El Sardinero but is also within easy reach of Santander city centre. The view from our balcony was stunning. The staff were friendly and helpful. The food was really good, authentic Spanish cuisine. The room was spacious and comfortable. We would happily stay there again.

Have stayed a number of times and always pleased with service, not unreasonable costs, great wifi and very comfortable bed. However, all that prevents the hotel from being 5 star rated is the breakfast - it's awful and expensive. If hotel were to address this I would be its most loyal fan!

Get the least for your money

The location of the hotel fantastic, great neighborhood, internet speeds fantastic. Room amenities were absolutely the worst, no hand cream, tissue paper, no place to warm water, hand towels, shower cap. Needed to request shampoo, gel and soap replacement as they would let it run out. The drinking glasses provided had a capacity of no more than 4 oz., coffee cups at breakfast were slightly larger than an espresso cup, room very small and troublesome to move around comfortably. In summary it was like they were trying to provide the least possible possible for your money although, internet speeds were fantastic.

Hotel Is ok. But I think for the price you can get a better hotel. Location is great especially for the Magdalena park, it is within 200 mts.
Breakfast buffet is complete and O.k.
Downtown and historic part of the city is far away. I was in a car so it was not a problem.

Santander is a great city and Gran Hotel Victoria is ideally located for the Beach whilst also having good local bars/restaurants also a comfortable walk into the main restaurant and shopping areas. Pleasant staff and a more than exceptable restaurant itself at a decent price.

This hotel was very pleasant with a nice bar & breakfast area, clean, well equipped room & nice bathroom. It was a little smaller than the US rooms I'm used to but nothing that I would worry about on my own but for 2 people it could get tight.

Just one night stay this trip but appreciated warm welcome and helpfulness of reception and staff. Excellent and comfortable, very clean room, comfortable bed and best WiFi I've experienced in any hotel. TV was Spanish only, but WiFi made up for this. Snack and evening meal were both very good but breakfast disappointing given it's cost. Covered and secure parking available but what initially appeared good value became quite expensive for overall stay. However, will use this hotel again and enjoyed the stay.

I found this good value for money. The room was quiet; no odd noises. The food in the restaurant, and the service, were good too; perhaps wouldn't blow your socks off, but certainly nothing to complain about. Convenient to city buses which go into town and to the train and central bus stations.

I use this hotel a lot, in the beginning it was only overnight for the ferry now I stay 3/4 days and enjoy Santander, the hotel itself is very good the staff are excellent particularly at reception and Fidel is a fountain of knowledge.The position gives the best of both worlds and the bus stops about 100yds away the bus fare is cheap so travelling around once youve left your car is very reasonable

I used this hotel as it was a very convenient and competitively priced hotel to use prior to my ferry trip. I only used the room, none of the facilities so can't rate them. Staff very friendly and obliging. Only gripe is the now apparently standard 14 euros parking charge. Excellent cafes close by (200 metres) for a coffee and croissant breakfast.

Great for ferry stopover or longer!

Welcoming and helpful arrival; lovely room with sea view balcony; good light meal and service in the evening; secure garage giving peace of mind about our full car; ease and efficiency if check out. What more is there to say other than the staff smiled and went about their tasks professionally. Recommend highly for stopover or stay.

Thought it was rather expensive and no better than the 3 star we had stayed in the previous 5 days, Expected the room to be larger and for the cost of the breakfast would have expected more choice of hot food than overcooked scrambled egg and soggy bacon.The balcony was tiny, not that I would have gone out on it anyway, being 4 floors up, might have if it had been bigger but I guess as we were only staying 1 night they give rooms with the bigger balconies to longer staying guests. I thought from the write up about the hotel it would have been nearer to the centre of Santander but the bus services are excellent and fares very reasonable. On the whole it was OK but don't think it warrants 4+ stars. Beaches are lovely if you like beaches and it is close to choice of bars and restaurants if you don't want to eat in the hotel.

Very enjoyable and very satisfied with all aspects of the hotel. Easy access to the centre of town and the beautiful beaches. The one down-side was not being able to rent or borrow towels for the beach from the hotel which meant we had to buy these. With low-cost travel and minimum baggage allowances this was a major lapse.

Nice place to stay

I spent 4 days in Santander and the hotel is really good. Nice location, clean and staffs are very nice and helpful. They helped me to arrange for early check in and helped us to book the restaurants. I am pretty sure I will book this hotel again.
