The Polikandia Hotel is an absolute gem.
The property itself is kept in immaculate condition, and there is a genuine dedication to excellence in hospitality in every sense of the word. Gorgeous bougainvilleas surround the pool and create the most gorgeous setting.
Location wise, the hotel is perfectly situated right at the entrance to Chora, with all the lovely taverns, shops and bars. These are all literally steps away.
It is also ideally located for the walk up to the church with the most majestic sunset views (yes, better than anywhere else in the Cyclades and I have been to many!).
The rooms of the hotel are comfortable, clean and well maintained.
I highly recommend this hotel if you are looking for an unforgettable stay on the beautiful island of Folegandros.

The hotel property and staff were amazing. The pool and landscaping are even better than the pictures. The breakfast buffet was excellent and had something for everyone. The room was clean and spacious. Every day had a different gift waiting. Free shuttle service was waiting for us on arrival and timely when departing. The location is a convenient walk to everything in town. All made for a perfect stay!

Pretty hotel in perfect location - you can get dropped off by car, but right on the edge of the pedestrian-only center, making it very convenient. Very clean, everything in excellent condition. Traditional Greek decor. Very helpful and welcoming staff. The room has all the conveniences.
You will not regret staying at the Polikandia. This is my first time here, and I will book it again next time.

This hotel is truely a wonderful place, the staff especially Dimitris were extremely helpful, going above and beyond to make sure your experience at the hotel is as relaxing and comfortable as possible. I decided to come to Folegandros alone, although I was nervous I could not be more grateful and appreciative of the hospitality I received.

Complimentary pick up and drop off to the port is also organised by the hotel. Overall, the hotel is in very close proximity (walking distance) to all facilities including restaurants, shops, bus stop and car rental companies.

From beginning to end the staff at the hotel couldn’t be more helpful, from the free transfer from the boat and back to the excellent breakfast and the flexible checkout times, nothing was too much trouble. The hotel itself was of highest quality and located very conveniently next to the centre of the old town. If you’re coming to Folegandros you should seriously consider staying at this wonderful place.

My stay at Hotel Polikandia was nothing short of amazing, a cute pool area and a room with a balcony view of the Church of Panagia. There was free port transfer that was easy, and walkable distance to the bus stop to travel to other beaches. The dining options are very close by and walkable, as well as the walk to the Church of Panagia. The staff were extremely friendly and sweet. I would go back in a heartbeat - they even gave me honey to take home! Thanks for making my visit to Folegandros a great birthday trip.

This was a perfect location to walk to restaurants and shops. I also hiked to the church easily at sunrise from here. The bougainvillea around the pool was spectacular. Rooms are basic but clean and comfortable. The staff was very helpful and friendly. They were constantly cleaning up and keeping the pool area spotless. The rooftop is a nice place to watch the sunset.

We recently stayed at the Polikandia as a base for our nieces wedding at the Church of Panagia. The hotel is in an ideal location just on the entrance into Chora town, 10 minutes drive from the port and in a perfect position for the walk up to the church. From picking us up at the port to final checkout, Dimitrys and all the family were exceptional hosts, so friendly and welcoming. The Polikandia is a beautiful place to stay and we have no reservations in recommending to any future travellers.

Love this hotel!

A lovely stay in a beautiful hotel. The Hotel Polikandia is perfectly situated near the middle of Chora near to all the restaurants, cafes and bars. The rooms are spotlessly clean and ours had a view of the church. The pool area is really relaxed, pool is gorgeous, lots of sun loungers available and you can order drinks from the bar to enjoy. All the staff are so friendly and helpful - we loved the jar of honey on departure. We would love to stay here again.

Hotel Polikandia is an absolute gem. Our room (with two bathrooms, a lovely front porch and back balcony, facing a beautiful pool surrounded by bougainvillea) was the perfect setup for our family (2 parents, 2 tweens). We greatly enjoyed the great breakfast spread, quick walking distance to restaurants, attention to little details (such as a bunch of beach umbrellas we could borrow), and super helpful hotel staff (family run). Very highly recommend!

Folegandros’ Finest!

Dimitris and his lovely wife, Roula, are exceptional hosts. When I read the reviews, I was impressed but they exceeded expectations. Dimitris was so helpful in advising me with my plans ( ferry,etc). The hotel is beautiful and in a perfect location near the charming old town and close to the bus station. Our room was attractive, comfortable and spotless. The outdoor space is lovely- full of flowers and and a pool with chaises and umbrellas. An abundant and delicious breakfast is available as well as lunch and snacks.Roula’s lemonade is the best! This is a family business and they treat you like family. We loved our visit and would be happy to return! Thank you again for a perfect holiday!

The staff is really amazing. There is pick up at the port which is really convenient. I highly recommend this hotel. The pool is a nice touch and the rooms are great, beautiful, very clean. I was lucky enough to have a view of the pool and the church on the hill. The location is perfect! My only gripe was that the bed was a little hard, but they indicated that that could be remedied. But I didnt bother.

Words cannot describe not only the excellent accommodations and the amazing service we received prior and during our stay! First of all, this is a family-run hotel, where each family member contributes to its success.
1. We arrived by ferry, and Jiannis was there to meet us with his minivan to take us to the hotel. Our room was ready on arrival, and we got a tour and orientation to our room and the hotel.
2. The pool was immaculate, and right outside our door.
3. The rooms were spotless, with new mattresses and a/c that kept the room cool.
4, There was a free bkfst buffet every AM as well as food snacks and bar service on the covered patio next to the pool.
5. The hotel was very quiet and peaceful, and only a 5-minute walk to the town full of shops and tavernas.
6. Our room was serviced every day.
7. The staff was always available for questions and recommendations.
8. On our last day, even though checkout was at 11, we were allowed to stay in our room until 4:15, when the hotel minivan transported us back down the hill to the ferry terminal.

In summary, I cannot imagine a nicer experience. HIGHLY Recommended?

Delightful property on the edge of the sweet town of Chora. Quiet at night so we got excellent sleep, but 1 minute walk takes you to the town squares. 1 minute to bus terminal so no need for a car. Buses; do not take the bus marked tourist as they charge more and they come 10 minutes before the buses marked 1,2,3,4. (1 goes to port, 2 to agali beach and 3/4 to Ano Merie)
Loved Folegandros and it’s people. Staff at Polikandia are incredibly kind and let us stay late as our ferry was leaving late.

This hotel is as beautiful as the pictures show and more! If you want to stay in a hotel that is extremely clean, well managed, beautifully maintained, charming and in a fantastic location minutes away from the picturesque town of Chora, then this is the place for you. We loved every minute of our time here. Dimitris and his staff are friendly, caring and very hospitable. The breakfast is delicious and the amenities are perfect. Our room was superbly appointed, clean and very comfortable. I cannot give this hotel enough stars. We cannot wait to return!

A wonderful experience

Our stay was perfect: the location is great as it's right on the edge of the Hora but not in the thick of it; the rooms are quiet, spotless and each have their own balcony or patio; Dimitris and team go out of their way to give a wonderful experience, from free transfer to/from the port to complimentary masks, sanitisers and anti mosquito coils (along with all the usual amenities); there's a drinking water tap by the pool so can refill bottles (so less plastic!). A great base to explore this great island.

We loved our stay at Hotel Polikandia and even considered cancelling our plans to go to another island in order to stay two additional nights (we couldn't because the hotel was full). The staff was very attentive and friendly. The pool was beautiful and felt like an oasis away from the August heat. Our room was very comfortable and clean. We will definitely look to stay here again on our next trip to Folegandros.

The pool was great. It’s a great location. We liked it a lot. The only strange thing was that the hotel put coffee in your room only on day 1. After that- you have to buy it. That doesn’t make sense. Pretty sure we paid the same amount to stay there each night, so why don’t we get coffee on the next days? Seems like a silly cheap way to sour an otherwise great stay. For $150/night, you can give a couple nespresso pods.

This was, without a doubt, our best hotel experience in Greece. Before we even arrived, Rula and Dimitris went out of their way to welcome us and make our stay pleasant. Check in was a breeze, the facilities were gorgeous, and there was a welcome basket for us! The room was really lovely and homey, with many stylish and personal touches. It was hard to leave the gorgeous pool to explore the island. But, of course, the island was just another aspect of perfection here. Throughout our stay, the hosts checked in with us frequently to know if we needed anything. It really felt like we were guests in their beautiful home. No complaints. We would return to Greece just to stay at Hotel Polikandia! And for longer next time.

Beautiful quaint hotel in the Chora of Folegandros. A lovely island without the hordes of tourists that are destroying many of the more known islands. The hotel is beautifully kept. The pool is the core of the lovely gardens. Rooms are well appointed though small. Breakfast is generous and well displayed. Staff is kind and prompt to service. Hotel is 5 2 minutes walk from the bus stop and the beginning of the pedestrian zone. Close to all venues.

We had an amazing honeymoon at Hotel Polikandia! The staff were attentive, friendly and couldn't have been more helpful-- everything was seen to, from a welcome wine to a surprise upgrade upon arrival for our honeymoon.
The room was stunning, the pool clean, and the all-you-can-eat buffet breakfast the most delicious and best deal on the island! There is nothing we would change from our week and would recommend Hotel Polikandia to anyone. Thank you to everyone who made our stay so delightful; we can't wait to be back next year for our 1-year!

Fantastic small island far from the overcrowded tourism of some of the other Greek Islands. The family owned hotel was beautifully appointed (the room, the grounds, the pool) and well maintained. A fairly extensive breakfast buffet was provided daily for a fee of 9 euro. Staff asked for feedback on the service and were quick to respond to guest requests. I hope we will be able to return to Polikandia again in the future.

We loved our 2 nights here! I wish I stayed longer. After traveling a bit in Greece, Folegrandos was our place to relax and we did just that. The staff was very nice and helpful. The pool area is absolutely gorgeous and our room was very cute and clean. The town is very close by for dinner. They have food at the hotel where we usually had breakfast and lunch. I would come back to Greece just to come back to this hotel.

Wonderful stay!

Stayed here for 2 nights for our honeymoon. The hotel took note of our celebration and decorated our room with rose petals and wine. It was very thoughtful!! We requested a room on the ground level and was honored. It was a great decision..we had a nice sitting area in the front and back of the room, allowing us to drink wine and look out to the beautiful pool. No concerns with noises at all.

Staffs were very helpful with direction and information. Not pushy at all about anything. We only utilized the breakfast for one morning as we didn't find a lot of local dishes at this hotel (compared to another hotel we were at in Milos). Since the hotel is so close to town, you can get fresh baked goods from the local bakery.

Shower was very strong and very spacious on the bathroom. Highly recommended!!

A fabulous stay!

I loved Folegandros from start to finish, but I was truly pleased with my pick of accommodation. Hotel Polikandia was perfect. I was doubly glad they let me extend my stay not once, but twice (the benefits of travelling in the shoulder season!) as I just couldn't leave.
Skip the breakfasts and go next door to Pounta, but otherwise embrace all that Polikandia has to offer.

This is a lovely hotel with fantastic staff who cannot do enough for you. The rooms are beautiful with lovely bathrooms and good quality toiletries. The hotel pool is idyllic and the gardens surrounding the pool and hotel are beautiful. This obviously is a family run hotel and it is clear they want to make your stay as good as possible. We visited this hotel 5 years ago and wondered if it would still be as good. Well quite simply it was even better. The hotel pick you up from the port and return you when you are leaving. This place is delightful.

The hotel is lovely with apartment style rooms in that you get your own front door. Our room was a good size with a small balcony overlooking the pool. Air con worked fine and fridge was a blessing to keep water nice and cool. The shower in the bathroom didn't have a holder but it wasn't an issue for us. The complimentary shampoo and shower gel were lovely. The pool is huge and there's plenty of loungers and free towels to use. Breakfast for 8 euros per person per day was decent. The bus station is two minutes away and the church is only a 20 minute walk (worth going up the steep steps!) Free transfers to and from the port were also available.

I was extremely pleased with my stay at Hotel Polikandia. It is an affordable hotel at the edge of the main town on Folegandros with an amazing pool and grounds on which to sunbathe. It is situated very near to the post office, a bus station, a number of travel agents, and the path leading to the monastery. The rooms aren't the fanciest I've ever been in, but they are clean and most come with a balcony or patio space that is perfect for eating breakfast on or enjoying a drink at night. The staff are very attentive and friendly and I felt very lucky to have stayed with them. I definitely recommend this hotel to anyone considering staying in Folegandros--it was a delightful experience!

I have been Greek Island hopping for three weeks. This was the only proper hotel I stayed in. Close to the bus station. It was wonderful. The room I stayed in was extremely high spec with a bottle of wine as a welcome gift. It overlooked the swimming pool one side and open countryside the other. Lovely and quiet through the night. All the staff I came in contact with were very pleasant and helpful. The price of the room was extremely reasonable as was the cost for a full bag of laundry. The latter being an important factor when undertaking long sweaty walks each day. (On the subject of walks—beware of the dangerous cliff path to Fira. It may not be there now, it looked on the point of collapsing!)
I stayed here from 18th to 20th June 2015. I can imagine that the cost of staying at this hotel will be substantially increased for the peak season.
