The rooms are clean, well-appointed, and very comfortable, and the grounds are peaceful and beautifully maintained, making it a wonderful place to relax.

But the true highlight of this hotel is the staff, led by Harry. Their genuine warmth and attentiveness shine through in everything they do, and they go out of their way to make guests feel welcome. We had a fantastic stay and would highly recommend this hotel to anyone!

The gentleman running the show is very kind. If you need laundry done they will do it. It is a very long walk to the Malecon. 10-15 minute on a steep hill. There is no hot water or television but the AC works great. If you don’t care for these things it’s good.

The room very outdated. Very small. It looked more like an hostel. Owner too involved and in control of every small thing. Definitely overpriced. The rest of my family sent the same amount for a place much nicer. I paid for three nights but i left after one night and moved to another place

Wow, wow, wow, wow, wow. Harry, the owner, was the best host ever. Like literally. I have stayed in hundreds of hotels, and his and his staff service was the best I have ever received. Like staying with the most knowledgable, caring Dad. 5 star service from a 5 star guy.

The owner was friendly and accommodating! We only stayed one night but the room was clean and there was hot water for showers! It’s writhing walking distance of the boardwalk/restaurants and bars.
Lots of cats around which I enjoyed but if you’re allergic, I’d take heed!

Host lady was exceptionally good, she made our breakfast available before time so v made it to 7 am excursion.

Hotel is ok overall but needs some updating. Jacuzzi and TV are offered but none are working. No hair dryer. Host was ni e but was a little bit hars sometimes. If you are alergic to cats this is not for you as the ha e 4-5 in the property that rest anywhere (my son had a blast though as they were super friendly) it's 15 minutes away from port and restaurantes but it's nice and quiet at night.

I am looking for a refund as I checked out within a few hours of checking in. The property was not as advertised. The ad made it look as if there were private bathrooms in the room. That was not the case. There was a large locked metal gate that took several minutes for anyone to answer. I bought the travel insurance and would like to be refunded

Decent hotel on the periphery of town.
The owner is a nice man. Room was very clean and well maintained. Breakfast was good, something different everyday.
It is on a hill, so some people might struggle. But easily get a cheap taxi. Walk to the beach in 15 minutes. Water dispenser very convenient. Coffee shop was closed all the time we were there.

Super hotel but just a little far out of town for me. The walk up the hill was hard in the heat but taxis were easily available and reasonable.

My husband and I stayed for 4 nights in a king bed room. The room was clean and comfortable. The hotel is older, the room was on the smaller side, but had a fridge and microwave. There is no tv in the room, but we didn’t really notice or need one. The breakfast was nice and the staff were friendly. There is good wifi. There is a little courtyard with lounge seats and other seating and a water jug to refill water bottles with at the front office. Luceria was very responsive to messages and was helpful and booked our taxi to the airport for our morning flight. The location was close to the waterfront for restaurants and tours, but you do have to climb up the hill on the way back (if you have mobility issues). Lots of little shops nearby for snacks and water.

The lady at the front desk seemed a little stressed out and was not very outgoing but did the needful. Breakfast to go was bars and juice. I would not stay here again.

We had a fantastic 3 night stay at Galápagos Eco Friendly in Dec 2024. Harry and his family were amazing hosts - friendly and accommodating. Harry met us at the airport and made sure our room had everything we needed. The room had a/c and was cleaned everyday and hot shower in the bathroom after a day out was wonderful. Breakfast every morning was very good.
We would definitely stay here again and would highly recommend it!

Unique hotel in San Cristobal! Loved the eco-friendly touch and the view when you have breakfast is AMAZING. Harry was so nice and helped us so much during our stay! He booked us our tour and ferry, and even called taxi in advance to make sure we were taken to the right place. He even made us a little to-go breakfast the morning we had to take the ferry. There's a lot of cats onsite, so cute and friendly. Would definitely stay here again.

Very fun & quirky hotel - reasonably priced, delicious breakfast, and Harry was amazing and attentive! Loved the outdoor areas and view from breakfast. While San Cristobal doesn't have a huge infrastructure, the Hotel Eco Friendly was a great spot for our family. The hotel felt very safe and quiet with an incredibly welcoming staff, delicious breakfast and comfortable rooms. It was clean and relaxing and a short walk downhill to town. There is access to a washing machine as well as spots to hang wet items from your days on the water. I will add if you have a cat allergy there are MANY cats at this hotel (and all over town) so that might be something to consider.
We loved it here and I would highly recommend!

The staff was very friendly and helpful. Transportation to the hotel upon arriving at the ferry and departing from the airport was arranged and even paid for. We took a taxi from downtown one day because it was raining and it was only $2. Everything was very clean and breakfast was great. Filtered water is available 24 hours a day near the office. There is a beautiful view from the dining area on the 3rd floor.

Property said it had transportation from airport to hotel and we confirmed this transfer 3 times prior to arriving , but we’re still left at the airport without a pick up. We hired a taxi to take us to hotel. Description also said free area shuttle. Yet when I asked about the shuttle to go to the park, I was told they would call us a taxi which we paid for again. Much construction taking place which was fine for us. Location is not in the area of restaurants or conveniently located. It is walkable to stores and eating areas however. No working TV. Staff was very helpful in securing sold out ferry tickets for us to go to Santa Cruz. So happy for that. Also gave us a complimentary bottle of wine and breakfast to go. We preferred Santa Cruz Island over this one as well.

The owner was friendly at check in but not around much and there weren’t any other staff. We received no information or maps about the area etc like we have at other locations.
It was in an inconvenient location with no restaurants around. It was difficult working out transportation to the ferry when we were leaving as nobody was around to assist us.
Breakfast was fine and we could have eggs with our continental breakfast.
I was disappointed as the ratings were so high on trip advisor.

Comfort and value in a wonderful package

The owner, Harry, is a stand up guy who met us at the airport, saw to our every need and was attentive and proactive in ensuring he and staff met our needs. The room was very nice, providing excellent value for money. Being off the beaten path means it was quiet in the evening and restful, a short walk to the town (10 mins) gave the opportunity to us to see some of the real Puerto Baquerizo Moreno. Bith my wife and I enjoyed breakfast which was included, time with the rescue cats and the excellent wifi internet - which we learned at subsequent hotels is NOT guaranteed.

Based on the chats with Harry sounds like this place will continue to grow into an even more exquisite gem.

I booked the place thru Expedia with no preparation and in a hurry. The first impression was not favorable. Nobody met us at the airport and after a short taxi ride the empty hot street next to the metal gate was not a welcoming sight. We had to wait for long ten minutes until the gate was opened.

Do not repeat my mistake. This is not a Mariott or even Motel 6. Just a man and wife operation with some hired help. They are really busy even between seasons. If you want things to be ready for you, send an advanced warning at least one or two days ahead.

From day two everything clicked into place. Harry and Lucrecia are wonderful hosts. Simple breakfast with a nice view on the third floor of the building is ready by 7AM. Good coffee, fresh juice on ice and plenty of fruit with the usual huevos fritos or scrambled tostados with butter and cheese.

Laundry is quick and neat. Important for us, since my wife and I travel light.

Harry is also a licenced quide, he takes guests on tours practically every day and is very busy (see above). Nevertheless, he is responsive and takes care of difficult requests with ease and impressive efficiency. Ask him to stop the rain, - he will say no problem. Ask him to set up a snorkeling tour and the gear will be brought to you to your room to try it on. As soon as he got to know us a little better, his suggestions and recommendations were spot on.

The front of the Eco Friendly is likely to produce a negative impression and the walled in courtyard is not very attractive. The walls and gate promote privacy, however, and the room I stayed in was clean and rather spacious.

The breakfast area is nice and the breakfast fare was both good and attractively presented. Unfortunately, the portions were small and the cooks do not take special orders. When I asked if I could have scrambled eggs, I was told to please sit down and that I would be served shortly. I was never asked what I wanted for breakfast during my three day stay.

Steady taxi traffic in front of the building provides easy access to every part of town and the owner is attentive.

Harry and his wife run an excellent hotel on Santa Cruz Island. The breakfast (included) was exceptional and the view of the bay while eating is perfect for the start to your day. The room had a safe, microwave, fridge, comfy bed and the shower had plenty of water pressure. The staff was always friendly and always available to answer any of your questions. They will also meet you at the pier/airport when you arrive. No complaints, had a fabulous time. Thanks!

Great stay at the Galapagos Eco-Friendly!

Had a great stay. Our favourite things about the hotel: airport pickup upon arrival, daily breakfast included with breakfast area overlooking town, nice social area, and most importantly, very very clean. It is a bit of a walk uphill from the oceanfront area of town, but we really enjoyed the walk, and allowed us to see an area we probably wouldnt have ventured to. If you dont feel like walking, there are tonnes of cabs all over town which cost only a few dollars. Would definitely recommend.

Our experience here was very consistent with other reviewers'. The room was fine (small but clean, decently comfortable but not over-the-top, though we did REALLY appreciate having both a mini-fridge and a microwave, plus the hot water in the shower was key). It was generally pretty quiet, as it's tucked away from the street, though we did get some neighbor noise, as the rooms are pretty close together. WiFi worked well though not in the front lounge area by the office. The breakfast is plentiful and there's a rotating hot option; the view from the breakfast area is lovely. We really liked that they have a water dispenser for refilling bottles. There are several friendly cats on the property, which we loved. The courtyard area has multiple spots for lounging or even enjoying a meal/drink. The hosts, especially Harry, were very welcoming and helpful. They arranged (and paid for) rides to and from the airport, let us check in early, etc. They also had great communication before we arrived. I couldn't tell the specific ways in which they are eco-friendly, beyond having the water dispenser. The walk to the water and main parts of town is downhill maybe 8 minutes; we didn't mind this because it means the property is quieter and less busy, but for some it's important to be in the center of things, so this is worth noting. I thought it was good value for the area.

We had a fantastic stay. The property is really quirky and unique, which we loved. The owner Harry was absolutely delightful, and made us feel very welcome. They even packed us a breakfast to go when we had an early morning tour! The rooms were super clean, the AC worked great, and the wifi was fast. You can walk to town (about 10 min), or it's easy to take a cheap taxi. They also supply drinking water which really helps cut down on plastic bottle use. We would very happily stay here again!

Excelente lugar! El único detalle es que queda un poco lejos a pie del área del malecón comparado con otros hoteles/ hostal pero se puede llegar. A pesar de que quedaron en buscarme al aeropuerto pero cuando llegue no estaban. Lucrecia es muy amable y me ayudó a contactar un taxi para poder ir a la parte alta de la isla también me complació en el desayuno brindándome una súper porción de proteínas. También ella tiene una tienda en la misma calle del hotel y un día fui a comprar agua luego de mi llegada de un tour y estaba súper cansado y fue tan amable que me llevo al hotel en su bus. La habitación es amplia y tiene nevera. El día de partir en la mañana iba a llamar a un taxi pero el esposo de Lucrecia me llevo en el bus del hotel al muelle y me entregó snack para que me lo llevara en el ferry. Esta acción compensó el día de mi llegada que no fueron a recogerme luego de haber coordinado hora y vuelo de llegada. Para finalizar lo recomiendo y agradezco su amabilidad.

Harry Jimenez was the best part of this hostel. He is friendly, attentive, and welcoming. The hostel is a bit of a walk from the beach, but worth it. Clean rooms, lovely breakfast, friendly family business. And muchos gatos adorable!

Eco Friendly Hotel is Very Friendly!

I loved this place! Owner Harry and his family were very welcoming and helpful! The room was very clean and comfortable and the fun outdoor hanging chairs added a neat vibe. I liked that the hotel was off the beaten tourist path but a very short (less than half a mile) to the main dock side walkway with restaurants and shops.

We made arrangements with property to be picked up, we waited for an hour, they never showed and then said well you weren't there at 9:00 so we left-but our ferry was late and being local they should have know that. Bottom line is they didn't wait. And then argued with us about it.

The VIP gift was delivered at the end of our time there, didn't have time to drink the wine so we had to leave it.

The property is ketchy but there are cats and dogs running loose so the rooms smell like cats.

There's a hot tub but you can only use it during the hours no one is there (3-8PM) so it's really like not having one.

The property is pretty far on the edge of town, you need a taxi. There's nothing around it.

We loved this accommodation. The proprietor was friendly, spoke English, and
Helped with arrangements. There was laundry service available on site. Airport transfers were available. Everything was clean and well cared for. They have their own water filtering system so you can use the tap water. Beach towels were available. Breakfast was on the top floor overlooking the sea. Breakfast was varied each day and delicious. Harry, the owner, was always available and responded to any questions or concerns immediately. This was our favorite accommodation of the three islands. The walk to town was a little challenging but the taxi was always available for $2.00.

Harry, the owner really does go the extra mile! From meeting us at the airport to ensuring we got to the right place for our inter-island ferry, he was always happy to help.

The bed was comfortable, room had a safe, good aircon & breakfasts were our favourite during our whole Galápagos stay. They varied daily but the French toast we had one morning was so tasty & besutifully presented. Harry even arranged snacks to go on a morning when we had to leave before breakfast.

As others have said, it is a 10 minute walk from the Malecon but we were happy enough to be somewhere quiet & it helped walk off dinners!

The hotel is great for an overnight stay on the island. The owner picked us up from the airport and was very friendly. The hotel had a beautiful breakfast and the dining area had a great view. This is a 3 star hotel as the bed linens and towels were clean but worn. I do recommend.

Great week in San Cristobal

We had an excellent week at eco friendly on the wonderful san cristobal. Lucrecia was a great host who looked after us. Great advice on tours and where to go. The hotel is comfortable and a great location. It is up a hill but its only a short walk, if you dont feel like walking taxis are everywhere and very cheap.

Charming and homey B&B at the top of the town. A good plane to stay if you want complimentary pick-ups from the ferry and airport, advice on what to do or where to go, and a friendly family vibe. The garden is beautifully decorated with shaded hammocks, and the view from the roof is lovely in the morning. Only downside - it’s a 15 min walk uphill from the beach. But, cabs are cheap and easy to call - plus we enjoyed the walk. We stayed here twice.
