2 stars only for the buffet breakfast. Otherwise very average hotel.

Good:
Buffet breakfast is very good. Lots of options in veg and one chicken dish.
The location is calm and quite.
View opens to the valley. However the trees cover most of the view.

Bad:
The location is little far from the main road. The road is lonely and very narrow.
The valley room was small in size. The TV is small with very limited free channels. Bed is also only queen size.
There was no AC in the room. Keeping balcony doors closed can be stuffy.
The kettle in the room is also plastic. No bottle water is provided.
Toiletteries were only provided on first day. No restocking on subsequent days.
Only a table tennis table and small gym. No recreational activities to do or any garden to roam around within hotel.
Hotel restaurant food is also pricy as compared to other few places.
Staff said no outside food is allowed which is wierd and wrong. They want people to order from their restaurant only.
No other facilities like iron board, cloth hanger, safe or hair dryer were provided in the room.
Internet speed was slow and gets frequently disconnected.
Lots of misleading info is written in the room description. Eg:Free weekday newspaper, Premium TV channels,Coffee/tea maker,Free bottled water, Safe, Slippers etc. They should remove these if they dont intend to honour them.

The property offered the best views one could have imagined. Buffet was good. Room were decent size. Property needs a little love and care, wall papers are peeling off and mouldy bathrooms. As property is not close to shops, some cab service to shops would have been great.

It was an excellent hotel located in the outskirts of Munnar. The staff were accommodating and welcoming. The restaurant was excellent. We had many choices for the complementary breakfast. Dinner and lunch options were reasonably priced. Good complementary activities were available. Next time I will definitely go for a longer stay.

The rooms are not worth the price, I spoke to other guests as well and they felt the same. They arranged an activity which was not well Managed. Felt like they were short of staff as no one came when we needed them. The buffet was not well managed as well- short of dining plates, tables were not clean- we had to eat on a dirty table, and some guests had breakfast in the gallery adjoining the restaurant. We asked a person to clean the table, but no luck! The food was also not good. It was hard to find someone to attend the guests. The reception is on the 5 floors but the rooms are on the ground floor. The view from reception is good but not from the room, but still, they sell it as the Valley views

Nice Hotel But Need Bed Bug Extermination ASAP!

We were having a wonderful stay till we were hit by the Bed Bugs in our room. They were all over the place. At-least one night got spoiled due to them. The management seemed unaware of the issue; however, reacted quickly and changed our room. But, bed bug were always in our mind during our stay after the incident.

Disappointing, feel cheated

Stayed there for 2-3 days. One of the two managers never seemed receptive. It was monsoon season so was raining most of the time. I asked them to arrange for cab for sight visits. Manager told me that he can arrange but he gave me a rate that was 1.5 times the market rate (I had enquired when i got down in munnar in the morning). I told him about the rate that i had heard in the morning. he told me that I can arrange it for myself in that case. Since the hotel is far from city, it would have been difficult to do so in rain. For ease, I booked the cab at the premium price for 2 days, assuming that at premium price, I could trust these guys for a good service.
On the second day, after the sight visits, the cab driver took me to couple of places for buying \"specialities\" of Munnar, before dropping for return journey (check about Kerala farms, Munnar). Mind you, there is very low or no net connectivity at most of these places. I asked the driver before doing purchase. After coming back from Munnar, I read the review of the purchases I made. Apparently, these places are sort of ambushes. They sell fake and overpriced products (in name of herbal medicines), and of course the locals know it. May be that is the reason, the manager asked for cash for the cab and did not even gave the receipt. After reading the reviews of the products, i am even scared to use it now.
In short, the staff of this place will rip you off if you trust them. Not expected after paying premium for everything

The rooms are fairly small and the bed is comfortable but small,breakfast wasn't too good they have Indian choices but if ur looking for continental then ur very limited,wifi doesn't work at all in the rooms but the tv works well rooms are overall clean & hotel looks nice and u get a decent view.

The stay was good. The hotel is a bit far away from civilisation but the view is excellent. The staff is excellent and very polite all the way from the front desk to the bell boys to the restraunt staff and the gaurds too. However the ambience is very formal ,its like a business hotel It would be great for office outings. Food was good but menu was a bit limited.

I checked in with my parents. The staff welcomed us with refreshments. I had only booked basic Valley view. The hotel offered an free upgrade. They made sure they kept my parents room next to mine. Which was nice. However maintainence in the room was poor. Few things were not right but they send me someone to assist and got all fixed. View stunning and very peaceful. Food options are very limited. Its better to take ala Carte menu during dinner. Dinner buffet is not good. Very little choice. Break fast is good. View during breakfast is good. Very friendly staff. The waterfall near by is definitely a morning walk.

Great location, superb staff and relaxing stay

I arrived and was meant with traditional Indian welcome and refreshments. The staff upgraded my room and took care of my diet requirements. The manager provided a complimentary jeep safari and lunch to me which was very generous and my stay was extremely relaxing, enjoyable and fun. The food was good, the staff were very attentive to the customer's needs and always with a smile on thier face.

Peace, beauty and tranquility.

We enjoyed the location of this hotel, set outside Munnar. We had lovely views of the surrounding area from our room and it was pleasant to sit on the balcony looking out over this beautiful scenery. It was also very peaceful here. The staff are courteous and friendly and try hard to please you and make your stay an enjoyable one.They could do with adding a bit of colour to the very large main foyer and reception as it does lack ambience

Overrated Hotel that really is not upto standard

i have many issues with this hotel and i will seperatlet write to Exedia re the advertising of this hotel.

1. After check in i was give an\" activities sheet\" noting hot water is ONLY availabe frim 5.30 to 10.30 am and 5.30 to 10.30 PM .
2. WIFI is available ONLY in reception.
3. Breakfast is ONLY indian foods. Eggs available but n bacon, sausages. I asked if they have a meat or checken curry to eat the \"riti\" and was advised that no meat is served at breakfast.
4. Very limited and poor breakfast.
5. Restaurenet linien was reused with stains frim glasses and spills. This was all the time.
6. For lunch on day 1 i was advised by receptin it was a buffet. When i went it was alacarte. I ordered muttin and they advised they had no muttin only checken and fish. KEEP IB MIND THIS IS A 4 STAR HOTEL.
7. The pillow cases and linen was very old The pillow case even had a hole in it. I have a photo to prove this.
8. There are 2 wooden slat seats in the grden looking out to the tea state. The slats are even loose and i was worried it woud break.

Overall this is NOT for foreign nationals. Maybe indians think this is a great hotel as it is so well built and beautifull scenery.

This should be re rated to a 3 star at the most and rates reduced immediatley.

While the scenery in Munnar is glorious and the views from the hotel are spectacular, the hotel does not cater to North American standards such as dry towels, enough towels, clean rooms, consistency in restocking of room items,English speaking staff, consistent wifi connection. Also, there is no alcohol available since it doesn't meet Kerela's 4* plus rating.

nicr location, but overpriced and bedbugs

This hotel is in a beautiful location eith teally sweet staff. However, i left covered in bites from either bedbugs it fleas. Its disgusting.

I also think its overpriced - for the same price you can stay in much nicer hotels - and that they were trying to squeeze money out if us at every turn. I would not go back, and I would not recommend it.

The room we checked in was smelling. We asked them to clean and it was cleaned. Only 4-5 rooms in hotel booked. The staff was not trained in handling even this many people. No wi-fi in rooms only in lobby area. Food was ok. Breakfast served on order.

I had a 3 days trip with my wife and 1 year old son. Stayed in valley view room. Stay was Ok. Room is a bit small.Though i did book the room much earlier with a special request for upper floor, i got a room in 1st floor only. You need to get an upper floor room if you need a good valley view. Otherwise the trees will cover your view and its not worth it. reception is on 5th floor and restaurant on 4th floor. View from both these places are amazing. Hotel is near to Attukad waterfalls and the drive to the falls is good (about 1.5 km)
Hotel does not have a good parking place, if you are going in season, you may end up having trouble with parking space. Drive way to the hotel is too narrow, if you have a bigger car, you may struggle a bit on the ramp, however, that is expected on a hill station. Food was considerably Ok. Buffet seriously misses the verity, however, what you get is of good quality. btw, don't miss the welcome drink (black tea), that was awesome!!

I went to \"Tall Trees\" for lunch and the place was good for a visit and lunch.

Important note: Please avoid peak season, the place is too crowded and you just loose the fun. I got stuck in traffic for 2 hours before reaching hotel and i heard other who came later got stuck for 3-4 hours!! So, during peak seasons this happens and if you are interested in site seeing, you will end up crossing this traffic jam every day of your stay because, all the place apart from the attukad waterfalls is on the other side of the town.

Very picturesque location, excellent reception staff, very apt building architecture, good layouts, clean rooms, excellent dining hall, fairly good service in the restaurant, menu selection fairly good, food taste - fairly good, compact gym, good cleaning service. Would suggest the following comments, to improve: 1. Provide in WiFi in rooms. The available WiFi in the reception is pathetically slow!. 2. Restaurant menu should contain more \"localized\"dishes - the innovativeness of the menu selection plays an important role when guests are on a relaxing holiday retreat. 3. Maintenance of common areas - peeling wall paint, dampness stains in the dining hall, structure damages in the corridors, etc., - these give a very bad impression in an otherwise good building. 4. Increase the visibility of the direction signage boards from at least 5 km away, to help guests avoid overshooting the correct turn-offs.

Our Stay at Devonshire Green (Munnar) was very comfortable. The hotel was very peaceful and has an ideal location. Our room offered excellent view of the hills and the overall ambience of the hotel was excellent. A special mention for the staff, they were very friendly and took good care of us. All our sight seeing trips were promptly arranged through hotel reception. Also the food offered at the Hotel's restaurant is excellent which offers a good mix of north Indian and local delicacies. The only problem I could think of was mobile network especially Airtel. Would certainly recommend this hotel to those who like to Visit Munnar.

Room was adequate in size and very clean. The restaurant had an excellent selection of very good food and very helpful staff. It is in the region of munnar with beautiful tea plantations. It is close to the tea processing plant and museum which is well worth a visit. The room was not air conditioned but not really necessary as munnar is high enough to be quite cool,

The stay was in general good if it not were for the fact that the hotel does not have hot water 24 hours. They turn off the heaters during certain hours of the day. Another aspect that I didn't like were the table cloths in the restaurant were very dirty. The location of the hotel is beautiful and the architecture of the hotel is very nice.

Great place to stay in Munnar. The views from the rooms are spectacular and the staff very accommodating. Keep in mind they are up in the mountains. A few things to be aware of: they offer hot water for limited hours 5pm - 10am I believe. The wi-fi is only in the lobby but it's a big comfortable lobby with plenty of seating.

Concidering that Munnar is a hill station and not a city, the overall standard of this hotel was excellent. We stayed 6 nights and had a very comfortable stay. The food is good and service excellent. Location of hotel is wonderful so would recommend room with balcony that overlooks the tea plantations. Walks from hotel are excellent, if you have time walk to Munner town across the plantation ( about 4 hrs ) and along the upper road by the dam and back to hotel ( 4-5 hrs ). Only negative is wifi access, it is slow and only available in lobby. Not the cheapest hotel but overall good value for your money.

A great location is spoiled by a lack of awareness od customer needs. Buffet food at every meal is unacceptable for a 4 star hotel. Room facilities such as timed hot water and a useless fridge are frustrating. The hotel has the potential to be excellent, it just needs a good shake up .

The hotel that you can get lost trying to find

The hotel is 6klms out of town No access to taxis and there vehicle is always busy elsewhere . The laundry service brings you the washing at 11 O'clock at night and gets mixed up with other people. They forget what you ordered for breakfast. The beds are very good and comfortable Our room was under the dining room and you could here the chairs move.Otmove . Other wise it was good

Munnar tea plantations

A modern hotel about 7 km before Munnar which is good because the road into Munnar is a shocker. We were caught in significant traffic causing up to 1 hour delays. Hotel is good but bathrooms are small, hot water was turned off at 10 pm so shower early. Room well apppointed but not luxury. Buffet dinner reasonably priced. Staff friendly and helpful. Not much happens there, no liquor licence, poor wifi.

We had 3 days at this hotel and given that there is not so many hotel options for foreign visitors in Munnar , this may be one of the best. Despite booking 3 months prior to our stay ( and having written confirmation from Hotels.com) we were informed on the day before Christmas eve that we did not have a booking. This was particularly disconcerting given the time of year. Once we arrived at the hotel we were FINALLY given an upgrade. However given this hotel is only one year old, it needs some maintenance issues sorted. There was no wifi in rooms, no hot water in showers from after 10:00am and before 6:00pm. The BEST person in this hotel was Jose the restaurant manager who went out of his way to look after the comfort of the guests. We felt this was a very over rated expensive hotel.

Pathetic service standard

I am totally disappointed with my selection. Road between hotel and Munnar town is terribly bad , it takes almost 50 minute to cross 5 Kms. Hotel services are absolutely below lowest possible standards. Staff are not trained, room services are non existing, hotel has no stock of hand towels, food services are below standard. We reached hotel at around 6pm and was told that staff comes at around 8pm and thereafter only third bed can be provided.Finally I got it around 9pm.After several reminders 3rd towel was provided and during our stay of 3 days, every day we needed to give several reminders to send towels. We had requested that since we are 3 persons in a room, we would require 3 tea bags every day but surprisingly it was never provided without several reminders. Standard of food is average. Once I experienced a very awkward situation, I was taking some dish, one of the staff member walked in and took all the food from the same in big bowl and went away. I was left high and dry. I had complained to General Manager and he listened to me very patiently but no action was taken.Services are horrible and house keeping staff have never been trained. Just for example, Housekeeping people stand over quilt while changing the cover and when stopped from doing it, they just could not understand their mistake and continued doing it.While leaving hotel, there was no one help loading my bags in car.OVERALL NO TO THIS HOTEL. RATES ARE LIKE 5 STAR AND SERVICES WORTH 1 STAR.

One of our best vacations ever

We stayed at Devonshire Greens during our Kerala vacation in December 2013. The hotel's location is outstanding and it overlooks the beautiful Tata tea estate. The rooms were very clean and the front desk service friendly. The complimentary breakfast had a variety of options and was qiite flavorful. The best part of the stay was a hike to amma's tea shack at the base of Attakud waterfall with the hotel's chef Mr Anil More. We thoroughly enjoyed the stay and would happily return.

Comfortable hotel room with beautiful valley views

This resort has very comfortable rooms with very beautiful valley views. We stayed in sunrise view rooms with a balcony and were really please with the views we had from our rooms. The beds are very comfortable.
The resort is approximately 6-7 kms much before Munnar. The taxi costed us Rs 2200 for one way from Cochin airport to the resort. If you don't have a taxi to move around Munnar, then you will have to call for a cab which can be expensive. Otherwise you will need to walk 0.5 km to the main road (uphill walk) to find an auto to take you to Munnar town. But the walk is through the tea plantations and is very beautiful.
The restaurant at the resort is OKish and slightly on the expensive side. The resort does not serve alcohol.

Devonshire Greens offered a pleasant stay and experience during our stay of two nights at Munnar. Starting off with a morning trek to the waterfalls the staff were very friendly and eager to assist. The food served also met with our expectations. Some of the support staff were quite new and took time to understand the needs. Overall it was a satisfying experience.

The hotel (like all hotels in the area) really charge over the odds. The staff were not very geared up to assist; not very helpful at all. The home comforts you might expect for a luxury hotel, as DG was marketed as, were not evident at all. Overall, not worth the money (though not many are in the area it appears) and better, perhaps, to go to Munnar on a day trip from Thekaddy. Overall, not very impressed.

Stunning view

Our room had a balcony with two big chairs and a stunning view, this view is even more stunning in the hotel dining room. The room had sky TV for the evenings and wifi. The general manager arranged a cooking demo in the kitchen for us which was great. In the morning we joined the staff for a walk in the beautiful valley which ended at a waterfall. This was followed by yoga. All complimentary which all in all really made the stay special for us. Minor cleanliness issue with the room which was resolved as soon as we reported it. I would definately reccomend this hotel, the location is great as Munnar itself is not a town I'd want to stay in and this hotel is just outside in the hills.

Nice hotel in a great location. The staff are really helpful and organised taxi transfer from Ernakulam train station. The morning nature walk is not really a nature walk, just down to the waterfall and back but its well worth it. The Wifi was not very good in the room but work fine near the reception.

EXCELLENT SERVICE AND GREAT LOCATION.

Its a fantastic place to stay . Great view of the Attukad water falls from the room. We stayed in a valley view room with a balcony, giving us a fantastic view of the entire valley. No need to go anywhere for sight seeing. Will for sure come back the next time I plan Munnar. Please keep up with the standards if not better them . Few feedback points - Lunch was not upto the mark and taste was very bad , however Breakfast buffet and dinner buffet was very good . Excellent service. Beautiful location. The only black spot is the road from Munnar Town to the Hotel. Not to forget the lunch. They must improve the quality of lunch irrespective of the occupancy rate.

The hotel is new and good looking. However there is a mechanical \"humming\" sound in the corridors like you are walking under the deck of a ship. The window views are great if you don't look down at the ground - the hill under the hotel is a dumping ground with the rubbish exposed on the surface. Also, we expected that at the hotel ranked with 4.5 stars (and not cheap) not to have any problems with hot water and the Internet. Unfortunately we had to use buckets kindly provided by the management that we had to order and wait till supplied to wash ourselves. The Internet was only working (very slow) for the first 2 hours out of two nights we stayed there. The last drop was the broken EFT device that made us pay with most of the cash we had on us and barely cover our final lunch cost at the hotels restaurant. We left disappointed.

Perfect for a quiet getaway

Great hotel with good amenities. Location is a little secluded, which is nice if you're out for a quiet few days. Rooms were clean however they need a slight refurb (doors and walls need a touch up of paint). On the whole, great hotel and amazing service!

Gorgeous View from the Room

We decided on this hotel based on various user reviews on the net and I have to say that I was not disappointed at all. The valley view room given to us was neat and clean. The view from the room overlooked the valley and one could just spend the whole day lost in the beauty of the nature. The bathroom/toilet was clean and nothing less than what you can expect from a 4 or 5 star hotel. The most beautiful waterfall in Munnar is situated just 5 mins from the hotel which was a bonus. As for the food, they have a very good breakfast and dinner buffet at reasonable rates.

Amazing Experience - Both Stay & Food

Devonshire was spectacular - beautiful location, Room was very comfortable. Food was very good - both assortment of food & taste. The manager at the Buffet as very friendly & flexible in terms of arranging something not on menu. The menu covered both north Indian & south indian delicacies, etc. Staff was very friendly & have good responsiveness.

Great hotel, fantastic location set in hills

I stayed with my 2 teenage daughters for 3 days/nights and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The staff were extremely attentive and nothing was too much trouble. The location, set in the tea hills of Munnar, was beautiful and the hotel and facilities are of a very high standard. I would thoroughly recommend the Devonshire Greens Hotel.
