The hotel is in an excellent location for shops, bars, restaurants, turtle watching and other amenities. Also, not too far from the airport. The rooms are fine, though relatively basic, as was breakfast. There was no hotel bar. Staff are friendly and helpful. The Spa small indoor swimming pool and sauna are not freely available to residents; you have to pay 25 euros each for an hour, which we thought was way too expensive for what is on offer. There are no outside sunbathing areas, so instead we visited the nearby Mediterranean beach, which is good and not expensive for loungers and parasol. The taxi rank nearby means short journeys are easy, though due to the mountain routes longer trips are expensive. We chose to do a couple of island coach trips, instead, which were very good. People do smoke in some of the ground floor hotel areas, which some may find unpleasant; we simply didn't use those areas, preferring to go elsewhere. Overall, the hotel suited our needs as a base, but it may not suit everyone.

Overall it’s good but could do with updating, things like very small shower, very old tv (not capable of logging into Netflix, Amazon Prime, etc.), air conditioning automatically cycles between on/off every 5 minutes and it’s a little noisy due to location (but tolerable), also, they have a pool but it’s only for “spa treatments” which finish at 6pm but guests still not allowed to use it!

I recently had the pleasure of staying at a fantastic hotel that exceeded my expectations in every way. From the moment I arrived, I was greeted by friendly and welcoming staff who made me feel right at home.

The location of the hotel couldn't have been better. Situated in a prime spot, it offered easy access to the attractions and amenities I wanted to explore during my stay. Whether it was the bustling city streets, serene parks, or trasport links, everything was conveniently within reach.

As for the hotel itself, it was beautifully designed and maintained. The lobby exuded elegance and sophistication, setting a high standard for the rest of my stay. The check-in process was smooth and efficient, with the staff ensuring that I had everything I needed.

Upon entering my room, I was immediately struck by its cleanliness and attention to detail. The decor was tasteful, modern and inviting atmosphere. The bed was incredibly comfortable, providing a restful night's sleep after a long day of exploring.

One aspect that truly stood out was the hotel's commitment to granting my request for a balcony. It was such a delight to have my own private outdoor space where I could relax, enjoy a cup of coffee, and take in the breathtaking views of the surrounding area.

Throughout my time at the hotel, the staff continued to impress me with their exceptional service, especially the lady in the spa services.

The hotel is centrally situated in the main square in Argostoli .The rooms are comfortable and well furnished .The staff are very helpful and pleasant .It does lack enough car parking space but it is easy to park at the port and walk .It is a great place to stay if you enjoy dining ,drinking or just people watching in the square .We would definitely stay there again

- Breakfast quality is very poor. Limited options but this is fine. However the quality is bad and this is not ok
- Parking space is limited and you never find a spot. In addition my impression was that the parking was used by locals and not by hotel guests as it is open space and there is no control at allA

The worst hotel i stayed terrible service , they claim they have breakfast and they only offer muffins . The room smelled like smoking ,the pictures are not real the hotel is really old with no updates for years .Front desk is so rube . I would give one advice to anyone that reads this review please don’t stay there

Nice room, friendly staff, efficient cleaning and excellent breakfasts. Lovely view from the balcony over the main town square. Herein lies the only downside: the square and its surrounding road have been largely re-paved and rendered traffic free. This has resulted in the main areas - particularly the square - resembling and sounding like an overcrowded school playground with young children playing and cycling at full volume well into late evenings. Hardly relaxing if you want to unwind.

Hotel room very good comfortable and clean ,pillows on bed could have been a little larger and softer .breakfast good wide range of food to choose from. We thought there was a bar ,well there is but it is in the dinning room but staff always there to get drink of coffee or alcoholic which could be served outside or on the nice comfortable settees in the foyer area. There is a gym which looked good .The staff were very helpful and friendly .The hotel is in a large square which is very much a meeting point for locals and also has some very nice restaurants,the noise from the restaurants seem to die down about midnight but people may still be sitting talking in the square and that can go on later sometimes. The parking was nearby but you cannot drive into the square ,at the moment they are building an underground car park and more rooms directly behind the hotel ,sure this will be good as car park at moment small, although this was ok for us as we were there out of season .

Weekend in Argostoli

We had a really good stay at this hotel, the room was comfortable, clean and in a really great location on the central square. It was January and the town was much quieter than we are used to but the visit was excellent. There is a small car park at the rear of the hotel with a barrier operated by the room card - very 21st Century! The breakfast was simple but very good, lots of variety and a very chilled atmosphere. We were able to use the computer and printer in the lobby to print our return boarding cards - very useful! We had the basic room which had a view over the square, I believe there are rooms with small balconies too.

Hotel is in a great location to visit Argostoli, although getting to it in a car is tricky because of the local roads. Room was fine but pigeons above the balcony caused a bit of mess. Staff were mostly indifferent, we asked 3 separate staff different questions about the hotel and the local area and they were unhelpful. The wifi requires a password that needs resetting every time you turn your device of or leave the hotel. So keep the code with you, it will not reconnect automatically. We had to ask for new codes after the first time, the staff didn't explain how it worked, and were on the point of being rude.

We spent 14 nights here as our vacation Hotel and enjoyed every day of our stay.The location is superb being in Central Argostoli on the main Plaza.Secured parking for our hire car prevented careless damage.
All the staff helpful and polite . Breakfast buffet continental style, plentiful and varied. Our room was very well appointed with excellent aircon and sound proofed doors leading onto a delightful small balcony overlooking the busy Plaza.
Big thank you to the Manager and all the staff for making our vacation very memorable. Almost certain to rebook here on our next visit to this beautiful Island.

The hotel was in a great location as it was in the heart of the square in Argostoli. We were surrounded by lovely restaurants and bars and shops were a 5 minute walk away.

Nice hotel with great amenities. It is centrally located. 5 EURO taxi ride gets you to the amazing beaches. At night you are right in the middle of the action what with restaurants, shops, ice cream parlors the city center square for people watching. We were in Kefalonia for family visit so it was easy for relatives to come and get us for dinners and afternoon trips around the island. The hotel staff were very nice. The rooms are quiet even when there is action outside your window. I highly recommend this hotel.

Fantastic hotel in Argostoli

The hotel is on the main square, next to the hustle and bustle of it all. Great location to base for exploring the island... Room had balcony overlooking square and was far better than the pics / impression on trip advisor / expedia suggested.

Some people have moaned about the breakfast on trip advisor but to be honest we found the it to be really good.

Convenient to the central square

It was our last night in Greece after a wonderful 2 weeks on the islands of ithaki and Zakynthos. We enjoyed the opportunity to rest then walk around the town in the afternoon, during siesta so it was very quiet and then to eat on the Plaza directly opposite the hotel and to see all the families and tourists come out at night to enjoy themselves.

very friendly staff, clean hotel with good facilities (iron & board, safe, Air con, fridge in the room. soap, shampoo in the bathroom etc), free parking if you have a car (advised as the local bus service is terrible) and free WiFi. . breakfast is a cold buffet with a selection of hot and cold drinks. the hotel overlooks the main square which is active until about 3-4am, but we didn't notice noise as the doors and windows are very sound proof, this means you have the benefit of being central with non of the draw backs. overall a great hotel in a great location that I would definitely recommend if you want to go to Kefalonia

Probably the best central hotel in Argostoli

I went on holiday with my husband, son and Granddaughter Sophia sharing a family room which was on the third floor. The 'room' was actually a double bedroom and a twin one so it was a large area and suited us fine. We also had a bath with a shower over that was also good for a little one. We were disappointed not to have a view at first as part of the balcony was behind the pitch of the roof and when sitting you couldn't see anything. It was however very safe for a three year old so that made up for it. The breakfast which was served between 7.00 and 11.00 was good with boiled eggs, olives, jams, cheese, meats and yogurt with honey, bread and cake. There was also some fresh fruit available. We ordered de-caff coffee that was made by the serving ladies with a smile. The hotel was being repaired after the earthquake damage but it was done very discreetly and didn't detract from our stay at all. The reception staff were all helpful, especially the young lady who was very friendly and lovely with Sophia. The cleaning lady did a good job every day and despite us having to disturb her a couple of times she still had a smile for us. I would stay there again if I ever visit Kefalonia, it's position in the main square and the fact it has a car park is a real bonus. We love Argostoli in the evening with the bars and restaurants. Makris Gialos beach in Lassi was our choice for daytime with lovely sea, sand, sunbeds and umbrellas and a nice beach bar. Great holiday all round.

Lovely hotel overlooking the town square

A most enjoyable stay. The hotel was excellent - friendly, helpful staff, excellent choices of continental buffet breakfast, clean, comfortable, air-conditioned room with a balcony overlooking the square. Amenities - shops, port, restaurants etc all a short walk away. Some small beaches within walking distance. A 'must vist' is the small museum with the earthquake exhibition round the corner.

We can't wait to go back!!

A quiet stay with hospitable patrons

I stayed at Ionian Plaza Hotel for 5 nights in late November. Ionian Plaza is in the heart of Argostoli, surrounded by small streets and restaurants, in front of a square that centres all of the former. Apart from rough weather (as it is cooler in Kefalonia in November), this hotel was very clean, and my room, which was on the top floor, had a beautiful view of the town (including towering mountains in the distance). I would recommend Ionian Plaza Hotel to anyone!!!

Lovely clean hotel in a perfect location

We stayed at the Ionian Plaza for 4 nights in mid August. The hotel staff were lovely and professional, the rooms were clean, the breakfast options offered enough variety and the location could not be faulted as it was in the heart of the island's capital and main square. I would recommend the Ionian to anyone staying in Argostoli in the future. Keep in mind, Kefalonia is very big so a car is required to see the beautiful beaches on the island as the hotel does not have a pool... however when you are on such an amazing island, you wouldn't want to be spending your days by a pool side!

The hotel was fantastic. We stayed in familt suite. the rooms were spacious and very clean. the bathroom was large and upated. the staff were very friendly and helpful.
