If I could give it half a star I would. This hotel is dirty, it has a bad smell of sewage pipes and cigarettes, the breakfast is depressing. Please do not stay in this hotel because you will suffer from disappointment. The only good thing about it is the location.

Horrible place i would never recommend anyone staying there, when we told them about the water issue in the bathroom they told us they cannot fix it and they won’t do anything, and when we told them we want to cancel the reservation they refused to refund us the money, it was a disaster

I stayed at Hotel Burckin instead of Hotel Suleimanye. I booked the latter , after pleasing photos and details on Expedia site. Before departure I received a Whats App message to turn up at Burckin, which I did. After checking in, and going to the alloted room, the shower control failed and the room flooded! Room then changed and shower full of black mould. A poor

My favourite was members of staff because they were very friendly, always ready to help. On the other hand our room was not cleaned every day. The bathroom was VERY small and there were not hooks to hang anything. We were always short of toilet paper. The bed was very hard. Although the area was close to amenities, we won’t come back to this hotel. Thank you.

- Gorgeous view of the Süleymaniye Mosque

- Taps had boiling water coming out of them unless you left them running for 10 minutes (sometimes the cold side would be hot and hot side would be cold also)
- Room was pictured bigger than it was in real life
- Cleanliness was not as good as it should be
- Outdated rooms and style including old bedding which is pilling
- Lighting was poor in the rooms
- Not very helpful when asking for restaurant recommendations (this may be down to the language barrier but it would be helpful to have some English speaking staff for a touristy hotel)
- When we asked for the room to be made up they didn’t do a great job (bed sheet not fixed properly or changed etc)
- Only one water fountain on the terrace through the whole hotel (not one at reception or on the floors) so this was difficult as we didn’t drink the tap water. At times we would either have to go all the way to the terrace to get fresh mineral water or just stay thirsty
- TV only showed Turkish channels and no subtitles - when you know your main customers will be tourists I think this would be beneficial to look into

I stayed at a hotel in Istanbul for one night and had a generally good experience. Although the hotel is quite old, it still looks charming. One issue I encountered was poor ventilation in the bathroom. On the plus side, the breakfast was excellent, and the receptionist was very polite, even though he couldn’t speak English. Keep in mind that the hotel is close to a mosque, so you may hear the call to prayer. It’s conveniently located about a 7-minute walk from the metro station and close to the bazaar and Hagia Sophia. Overall, it was a pleasant stay.

Every morning around 4.45am the muezzin woke me up as the hotel is next to Suleymaniye Mosque. Burckin Suleymaniye Hotel is at the highest position of the hill. It takes 12-13 mins to the closest metro or tram station. It is a task coming back to the hotel at evening after a whole day sightseeing.

All staff was professional and courteous; they went above and beyond to make sure that my stay is comfortable, and I get a much needed rest. Not a good hotel for a single traveler.
The room bore no resemblance to the one shown on the website that I booked. He said it was a quiet room but in fact was next to the road and facing the mosque. There was so little room that I had to put my suitcase on the floor. It was also supposed to have a city view whereas in fact I had a view of the outer wall of the mosque.
When I turned the shower on boiling water came out of the cold side. I had to run this for several minutes before cold water came through. This was highly dangerous.

Great location and stay for price, only downside is you are directly near a praying mosque and they will be blasting the prayer through the speaker pretty much every hour from 5am til 10pm. Not bad if you are a heavy sleeper I suppose.

We loved the hotel and it's unique character. It is in the fascinating streets of the Old Town but we found it quiet and peaceful. It is very close to the Suleyimanye mosque, which is beautiful to visit and announces prayers at 5am to 9.30pm. It is also in walking distance of so many of the attractions in the Old Town like the wonderful Spice Market, the famous Mosques and the Grand Bazaar. The Valens viaduct and the water is not far away so you can walk everywhere. A really great location. Breakfast has a good range of food and plenty of it and all the staff were friendly and helpful. I would highly recommend staying here.

The staff and location are amazing. The room is so small. It was an immense inconvenience for us. However when you overlook the room size and the dark shower, you see a very clean and well kept hotel room. Definitely the cleanest I have seen. If you want a hotel that is a 30 minute walk from everything and in a great location with a great view. Go here. If you rely on public transport and taxi I would recommend somewhere else. Walking back here at night was scary almost every night with very weird people on the streets coming up to you and begging for money. However, that being said this hotel is pretty good considering the price and location. We really enjoyed it.

This hotel is well situated, walking distance to all the attractions. Friendly and helpful staff especially the manager mr Ikram. Good breakfast with many choices. Smaller rooms are a bit tight but mr Akram upgraded us to a nice big room with a separate lounge. Do take ear plugs as prayer calls can keep you up.

The very reasonably priced hotel is two attached turn-of-the-century Ottoman houses with a peaceful rooftop breakfast room/cafe with amazing views! You are right across a narrow street from the Medrese (Islamic college) attached to the Suleymaniye Mosque, and from the breakfast room, the domes and minarets look close enough to touch! Photo op!
Room was small but clean and comfortable. No luxury there. I was happy there was a lift to the upper stories, so no luggage inconvenience. Desk service was unusually kind and helpful.
Altogether a memorable stay. Would definitely go back but ask for a room with a bit more space.
NOTE: the street the hotel is on -- Kanun Medresesi Sk. -- is narrow and hard to find, but on first arrival, taxi could just drop you at the entrance to the Suleymaniye Mosque and you can just walk around the corner. Or get off at Veznecıler - İstanbul Ünıversıtesı Metro stop and you can walk up 16 Mart Sehitleri (which becomes Suleymaniye Cd.) to the hotel street. Not a bad walk if you have light luggage!

Bad experience I had with this hotel. Room was not so clean and nobody even checked or cleaned the room during our stay. Room was so hot at all time though outside weather was cold. Food was ok but I found spoiled bread in the breakfast.
I should check-out by 12pm as per policy but I just got late 3 hours so Manager ask me to pay though they didn’t inform me earlier that someone is waiting from morning 7am for this room. They charged me full amount of equal to 1 day stay.

This hotel was perfect for a weeks stay exploring the wonderful city of Istanbul. It’s not the most flashy, and the room was quite small, but fit in with our budget, the staff were very friendly and they did a good breakfast.
Very close to a Metro but also walking distance to all the main attractions. I would definitely stay here again if I was visiting Istanbul!
Only thing I would say is that the room was very warm during the night and we couldn’t get the aircon to work - but not a mega issue!

Thank you for a really lovely stay. The management at this friendly hotel are hard working and could not be more welcoming and helpful. Its location in the old town is perfect and the views from the lovely modern terrace room on the top floor, including over the adjacent Suleymaniye Mosque, are beautiful. Don't be put off by official star ratings: the hotel is modest in size and has limited facilities, but it is charming and offers excellent value for money. HIghly recommended.

My initial thoughts when we arrived were that the hotel was in an alley way and felt a little unsafe. It was fine however even when I returned at 1am one night.
The hotel needs a little TLC in some areas but overall a good stay although a little noisy as the floorboards made noise and you could hear the neighbours.

The most amazing part to this hotel is the view of sulimaniye mosque from the terrace and is literally around the corner from the hotel. The hotel is clean and staff are amazing. Definitely will stay again on my next visit.
