Loved this hotel! The staff at check in were so incredibly friendly and helpful. The property is beautiful and has great amenities. Dyson blow dryers and adjustable beds in the room were a fun surprise. Great location and loved the funicular to get up and down the hill quickly. Highly recommend and would definitely stay again!

Surprisingly told that dispute high price I paid per night, breakfast was excluded. Had to pay a lot more on site. Receptionist told me I’d been upgraded to a penthouse given how much I’d paid which was equivalent to penthouse. Only to actually see the penthouse which was next door! Very inappropriate.
I slept and went to work. Skipped breakfast etc and just did what I needed to do. Good views nonetheless. Pretty much.

The tram is built into the hotel and takes you directly to the promenade, super convenient.

Hotel is Meticulously maintained and we appreciated the complimentary soft drinks. Wouldn’t think twice about staying here again, do it you won’t regret it.

Lucerne is a beautiful place to visit. But when we checked into the Art Deco we were given a small room with no view and no amenities. This was not the room I booked using Expedia and not only was it super small I tripped on the ledge of the dated bathroom twice. The hotel blamed Expedia and Expedia said the hotel wouldn't honor a cancellation. So we moved hotels and were finally happy. Just be careful what you book and understand the hotel is older.

Our stay in Hotel Montana Art Deco in Lucerne

This was a bit pricey but we got way more in return. Our room was facing the lake with balcony. Excellent location and hotel provides free bus passes during guest stay which is great especially with the bus stop right by the hotel exist when using their free Funicular. Breakfast was great but we ate out the rest. Our bed was the most comfortable since our stay in Europe the last 10 days.

Dinner at night on the patio at La Scala and cocktails prior at the rooftop bar were spectacular with a view not to be matched. Excellent service and a beautiful hotel. Definitely get the room with the lake view and two balconies.

I love how the staff members were very professional and knowledgeable about Lucerne. They were friendly and accommodating. Whenever I had questions, they were able to find the answers for me. I also found the location to be quiet and peaceful. The view of Lake Lucerne from the hotel is beautiful. The place also has a funicular, and it is close to the bus stop. I highly recommend this place because I felt very safe. It also made my stay in Lucerne memorable.

Very unique classic hotel located atop a steep hill overlooking Lucerne. There is a funicular that will save you walking up the steep hill. It’s a bit of a walk to the old town area and restaurants. There was a bottle of water in the room when we arrived but it was not replaced each day, which was disappointing. Front desk staff were helpful with maps of town and you leave the room key with them each time you leave. Onsite restaurant was very nice

The incredible view of the Alps is obviously the best part of this hotel. Its old world charm is certainly a draw but for those looking for modern amenities, such as outlets in the room or safety features, this is not for you. There is a step up into your room as well as a step down into the bathroom & a high tub to step over to take a shower. A dangerous situation esp if you use the BR at night.
The restaurant is excellent but very expensive. The hotel is located a short distance to the lake for a nice stroll to downtown but overall not conveniently located. Easily a 15 walk to shops & boats, downtown area.
The beauty of the surrounding Alos & lake overcomes these inconveniences but be aware of the drawbacks.

We stayed here due to the proximity of the Seebad access but it was closed both days.

The best part was the free bus access and fonicuar down the hill.

However; For the price we paid we felt the experience was lacking
- did not receive complimentary bottled waters included in the room.
- room was HOT and when we turned on the AC the alarm went off while we were sleeping when the room was only 21 Celsius.
- Did not receive fresh towels daily

- the Dining was outrageously expensive and had to Greco down town for alternatives.
- couldn’t take a shower without shower leaking all over the floor

This hotel canceled our PAID reservation made 4 months ago. We were traveling from Zermatt to Lucerne and we got an email from Expedia the day before we were scheduled to arrive at the hotel telling us that the hotel cancelled our reservation. Expedia made us a new reservation somewhere else, at the only room still available in town in that range, at a hotel we did not want to go to, but we had no choice. With one day notice, not much is available in a city like Lucerne. The hotel was simply unprofessional and unreliable. This was unacceptable in my view.

Spent five nights here in March 2022 and made it our base for exploring Switzerland. Could not be happier with it. It's a bit of a hike from old town Luzern, but that is not inordinate and the distance gives some space that wound up being welcome. Otherwise the facilities and staff were great -- excellent food and everything else. Highly recommended and would do it again in a heartbeat.

The hotel is pretty and the rooms were very clean. Not really walking distance from the main downtown part though. We had to change travel plans last minute and booked here, we were not notified of the latest covid restriction and upon entering the hotel told we would not be allowed to stay there if we didn’t get a rapid test tonight even though we were all vaccinated. I understand rules but the hotel should have notified us like all our other European hotels did. Also they sent us to two separate pharmacies that were closed, thank goodness we had a rental car. Frustrating check in process but the hotel overall is not a bad place to stay.

The views were spectacular especially from our room’s balcony. The concierge that checked us in and helped us multiple time was a charm to deal with. The La Scala Restaurant service and food was the best we had over four expensive meals in Lucerne. Rooms are comfortable but Swiss stark. Would definitely stay again.

I stayed this week whilst on business, the hotel is very dated and in need of refreshing – I was expecting it to look like the photos, however it is more dark and gloomy and not very bright. The room I was in was the largest of the hill category, the lamp didn’t work, the pillows were super flat and only 2 of them and there was a mark on the pillow that looked like blood. The hotel came to change them and suggested it was “paint” however there was no red paint work in any of my room. They fixed the lamp but the room was still super gloomy and very dated. Then I noticed a HUGE bug flying around which the front desk staff came and removed. On a positive note the steak sandwich was incredible…. On a further negative note… Upon check out I was charged 30fr for breakfast… I was under the impression it was inc, but it wasn’t, it was very pricey for the offering. Location is great, the bar is buzzy and the cable lift is super helpful.

The room was nothing like pictured, very small, and not the quality of finishes and furniture you’d expect at 5 star hotel. The manager also didn’t really do much to make it better besides giving a complementary late check out. The only thing I recommend for this hotel would be the views.

Amazing, all staff were super friendly and genuinely wanted to help make our stay as pleasant as possible. Not only is the hotel very clean and safe, but there is plenty to do with the many different rooms (beach house, fine dining, casual bar, and live music rooms).

Highly recommend to anyone looking to enhance their stay in Lucerne! You may want to extend your stay, I know we wished we did after checking in.

Gorgeous hotel beautifully situated. The hotel is located only five minutes from the main promenade, Easily accessible by 24/7 funicular. The hotel is situated on promontory overlooking Lake Lucerne. The restaurant, Salas, Is beautiful and the well appointed meal was enhanced by the view overlooking the lake. The hotel staff, especially the concierge, Bruno, was especially helpful in designing our stay for the several days.

Million Dollar View Charm

Situated on top of a hill, with funicular, and the view is priceless! A few steps and you are right by the lake and center of town. The service is outstanding and friendly staff. And on the heat of the summer, you will appreciate the individually controlled A/C unit and so comfortably cold- huge plus+++
Breakfast is elegantly presented, and you can sit on the outside with a million dollar view of the city, mountain, and lake. I highly recommend staying here.

Very chic hotel!

This is a tough hotel to locate if you do not know in advance how to get to it from the street. However once you arrive you won't be disappointed. Cool art deco hotel with a great view! The rooms facing the water are stunning, they first showed us a room in the back but we upgraded once we saw the upgrade. Not sure if they do this on purpose so you will upgrade, the first room was uninviting. The hotel bar is lively and was packed, the band was great!

If there wasn't so much to see and do in Lucerne I could've easily stayed in this hotel for the entire time I was there! Large spacious rooms, my room faced the lake and had a balcony where you could enjoy the view. The bathroom was huge! It included a separate stand alone bath as well as large shower. My bedroom was also very large, and very well appointed. Friendly staff, great restaurant and bar on site as well.

One of the worst hotels I have stayed in!

Absolutely the worst experience. Our rooms didn't have any air conditioning which was not specified while we were booking our rooms. We had to spend the night in a terrible heat with just small desk fans (not even a ceiling fan). Also, there were barely any window treatments so the whole night we were kept up by bright lights from the outside the street.
Would not recommend this hotel to anyone!

When booking for this hotel I was using Hotel.com for the first time at my daughter's recommendation. I put stay for 2 nights and for this hotel the cost came up as 315 CHF which I thought was reasonable unaware that unlike my usual site that gives the total cost of stay it gives the nightly cos and I was given the total after I had submitted my card details and the order was final. So I put it down to experience and went to hotel. On check in they asked for my card and charged me for one night only. When I said I'm staying two night the receptionist said if you stay another we charge you on checkout. I said do I have a choice not to stay the second day she said yes. So I said in that case I will stay one night only. Next day I checked out and they charged me for the breakfast and I left and stayed at a cheaper hotel. Two days later I got a letter from receptionist who said she was sorry that she forgot to tell me that I would have to pay for the next night too and asked permission to charge my card. As I was still in the area the next day I went to hotel personally and talked to the duty manager who was very sympathetic to my situation and agreed that if I was told I would be charged any way I would have stayed for the night. He said they had already charged for the next night but they could easily credit it back. Now I have receives a receipt from them which means they have decided not to refund me. I find this unfair and would like Hotel.com to look into this.

Our stay at the Art Deco Montana was superb. The staff were warm, welcoming, knowledgeable, and helpful. Boris, the concierge, made several restaurant recommendations and we tried every single one. We struck gold every time. Just fabulous food to be had in Luzern, walking distance from the hotel. We were in Luzern celebrating a big birthday and Boris was very kind to us. A half bottle of bubbles in the room to drink on my balcony for birthday breakfast, and then a specially reserved table in the restaurant for our buffet breakfast. The hotel staff decorated my table and brought me a flourless chocolate birthday cake. The rooms are pleasant and the facilities are modern. Pay the extra to get a balcony with a view of Lake Luzern. We upgraded to a penthouse double lakeside after our first night and it was well worth it. The balcony is much bigger and you're on the 5th floor. Sweeping views over the city, lake, and surrounding Alpine mountains. Stunning to wake up to each morning. The decks have a little table & two chairs. Perfect for sipping Aperol spritz as the sun goes down, or playing cards while you watch the pleasure boats putter up and down the lake. The Louis bar is charming and the staff there are friendly and helpful. Everyone speaks excellent English and you don't feel bad if you speak little or no German. The funicular railway that takes you up to the hotel from street level makes it easy to get to the hotel lobby and is fun to use. Highly recommended.

The hotel needs a refit. The decor from the last renovation doesn't go with the style of the building and it's tired looking. The also desperately need to install air conditioning. On a hot night we slept with the windows open which was noisy and buggy.

Wonderful service (the check-in and concierge staff were very helpful) and an amazing room with a view that was spectacular. Lots of small, delightful touches like the \"beach\" bar with lounge chairs in sand. The vernacular makes getting from the waterfront to the hotel relatively easy.

The hotel was authentic and nice. There was a direct cable car which brings you from the bottom of the hill. They had Michelin stared restaurant and a very great bar.

Luxury and service the way it used to be

Wonderful opportunity to experience a hotel with a difference. The decor and setting transport you to another era but the food and service is modern and excellent.

Nice hotel but a little out of the way

The hotel is definitely accommodating but just isn't in the heart of Luzern. Since Luzern is so cold so much of the time, the walk can sometimes be daunting. They are located on top of a hill but provide a cable car down to street level which was great and we took advantage of all the time. The front desk was helpful depending on who was working. The bar was great and actually a spot frequented by locals, which was super nice to have so close. Didn't try the restaurant but it seemed nice/fancy. Rooms do not come with conditioner!

Beautiful hotel and view...but beware of parking

The room and view was awesome and the bar downstairs had a live band which was awesome. The restaurant was expensive but the food was delicious. A downside is parking!!! The garage had only 6 spaces for parking and when I got to the garage, they were all full even though they told me they had a spot reserved for me. I ended up parking in the street in front of the hotel (where numerous other cars were parked) and got up the next morning to a parking ticket. So word to the wise, let the hotel park your car no matter what the cost as the ticket was a lot more than the cost of parking ($25). Also, you have to buy a window sticker to drive in Switzerland (which I didn't know) so the parking ticket also cost me the fine for not having a window sticker. It was a very expensive overnight stay with the fines on top of the hotel room and dinner.

Lucerne opens its arms to you, the staff of Hotel Montana couldn't have been more accommodating . From the reception desk to room attendant one feels very welcome. It would be a pleasure to return.

Lovely Hotel

Stayed 3 nights. Very comfortable although no aircon, Could however safely leave balcony door open at night.

Lovely hotel with view of Lucerne

Hotel room was excellent with stunning view over Lucerne and Mount Pilatus. A distance from the hustle and bustle of the city but within a pleasant walk of the old town. Lovely views from the restaurant and breakfast room. Breakfast buffer was excellent.
