This charming hotel overlooks the ocean in Freetown. It offers 67 rooms and suites, each equipped with a kitchenette.
Built in 2022, The Lead Hotel is Sierra Leone's only aparthotel with a private beach, conveniently located in Aberdeen, Freetown's hub for business and tourism. Situated in a quiet private bay with Atlantic Ocean views, it's just a short walk from Lumley Beach and a ten-minute stroll to the golf club and nearby restaurants.
Shuttle buses, taxis, and tuk-tuks provide quick access to the city center within 20 minutes. The Tacugama Chimpanzee Sanctuary, National Museum, and River Number Two Beach are a 30-minute drive away.
For convenient arrival, guests can take a private boat directly to the hotel's jetty from Freetown Lungi International Airport. Water taxis and shuttle buses are also available, reaching the hotel in just 30 minutes.

The suites, view, and balconies are very nice but the hotel is roach infested; 3 came running out within 20 minutes of being in room and a few every day but all in kitchen and bathroom none in room that I saw at least. Also, someone took a dump in my room right before I checked in. The utilities in room and room layout look exactly like pictures but my washer/dryer didn’t work and no one knew how to fix it.
Food: 9.5/10 no complaints on food but room service order was wrong but still very good.

*False advertising: the private beach is not open and I was told by receptionist that it won’t be for another 1-2 years. Upon arrival, there was no welcome drink, and pool hours are different than what’s advertised online pool actually closes at 7pm not 10pm.
I would stay there again if they spray and get rid of infestation and also fix pool hours.

The lead is advertised as a business living hotel. There was no A4 paper , envelopes, pad and pen available in the executive suite I stayed in. It had a sticky note and a pencil.

This hotel has modern spacious suites and is set in a nice part of town with views. The food and drinks + breakfast are great and service friendly and security is high! Would strongly recommend this place for any business traveler!

BED BUG ALART!!!! I stayed at this property in February 2025. When I got to my room, I saw 2 big BED bugs on the chair I immediately killed it took a picture and went to the front desk to report the problem. I wish there was an option to upload a pic of the BED BUG. I got an upgrade to the presidential suit for the night. I hope they have fixed the issue of bed bugs because this is a hotel I love.

The hotel is not fully open yet but this does not distract from the high standards of accommodation or the dining and relaxing facilities offered. We had an executive suite overlooking the pool with a view over Man of War Bay beyond. Both the lounge/dining room and the bedroom were very large and extremely well decorated. A large picture window overlooked the pool and could be partially opened. Aircon was most effective.
The pool area was extremely well maintained and the water was just the right temperature to make it easy to enter but also to provide relieve from the heat.
The rooftop restaurant provided both indoor and outdoor seating. We sat outside as the evening temperature was just right at about 22c.There was a very good choice of food served by very friendly waiters.
Sierra Leone is desperate to increase its tourist activities and the Lead Hotel is certainly playing its part in providing lovely accommodation supported by great employees for both business visitors and tourists.

The hotel was a peaceful and beautiful getaway from the more intense city life. The room was spacious with a kitchen and living room, and a large bedroom with a very comfortable bed. The staff were all welcoming, helpful and professional. The gym was top notch with all the equipment you will need. And the pool is amazing.

Where do I begin? From the advertising and pictures, The Lead looks amazing but in reality my stay there did not match the type of service and experience they claim to give. Who wants to stay and pay for an executive suite when the hotel is still under construction? I sadly did. Firstly, this hotel claims to have beach access and when I asked I was told “ there is no access to the beach it’s dirty now and not ready yet”. It is all false information and there is absolutely no beach access. I saw the beach from a locked cage that was placed there. I was fooled by their instagram a social media posts and that was the first red flag.
Secondly this hotel has room service which is a plus but sadly the food is more near to airplane food. The food is extremely salty and the breakfast omelet is not from fresh eggs it’s powdered and microwaved ( why I likened it to the meals served at airplanes). The meat, chicken for that matter, is imported and not even local meat/products are used . Who wants to eat imported frozen meat why not just use local fresh products? The food menu extremely boring and simple for a 2 star hotel.
My biggest issue is that this hotel gives off the perception that it is not accommodating for African or local Sierra Leonean guests for that matter (the food menu is entirely western food without even one local African cuisine on the menu). I didn’t feel anything African or a hint of the local food/culture at the The Lead Hotel which is in the be

This is the best property in Freetown. Courteous, Classy, and Excellent Service. I will only stay here when I return to Freetown. You simply will not find better accommodations and the food was limited but excellent. The chef even accommodated my vegan diet personally. You won't find better staff from cleaning to security to management.
