My husband and I booked the Lux Marijani for our honeymoon. We did one week safari in Tanzania and then flew to Zanzibar to stay at the Lux. On arrival the staff were extremely welcoming and instantly made us feel at home.

The Lux has amazing staff who get to know you and really make you feel welcome. The food and drinks selection was fantastic and all our tastes were catered for. The hotels facilities were overall ok and we spent a lot of the week at the pool and time in the evening on the beach. The nightly entertainment was always fun and worth watching.

The only downsides to mention would be the fact that our room was situated on the ground floor and we had no view as we were surrounded by plants. On the first day, our room flooded and though this was inconvenient, the team were quick to rectify and very apologetic.

The gym was quite small and not well air conditioned. There were limited sunbeds around the pool and this sometimes was quite frustrating.

Overall, we enjoyed our stay and would go back.

I can only rave about the service I received at this property. Everyone is so kind and so observant and so attentive to every single need. They go above and beyond. When I left this morning, they had a gift for me. I had to leave for my plane at 2 AM. They arranged for transportation pack me a breakfast coffee and gave me two gifts with a smile. I almost hated to leave. It was like I was going to be missed by my new family. The beach is absolutely beautiful. There is plenty of space. The villas are nice and big. The property is in pristine condition. I have no complaints. They remember my birthday also saying to me brought me a cake made up the bed with decorations twice excellent excellent excellent! Highly recommend

Stunning hotel, very reasonable price. We ended up opting for half board and this worked out well for us. There was always plenty of options on the buffet which were good, we did not find that the ala carte options were very tasty at all.
The staff were all so kind and helpful.
The private beach was lovely, though unfortunately you still get harassed by beach boys who are generally nice but annoying.
The room was always clean, the staff smiling. The pool is beautiful and I love the extra inclusions as well as the little gifts!
Godlisten and Rachel were especially wonderful.
We would absolutely recommend.

Amazing hotel and staff! My every need was met and there was always a staff member close by who was willing to help. We arrived early and our rooms were not ready, they took our bags from us and allowed us to get ready in the change rooms. We went to our excursion and came back to find our luggage in our rooms! They even offered late check out for us!

Ahmed is the best bartender ever! Made the best drinks and always had a smile on his face! Too many amazing staff to call out. I will miss Lux Marijani and the memories I had made over that week!

The only down side I would say is the location is a bit far from stone town and other excursions around Zanzibar. However, the remote location makes for relaxation, quiet and great beaches! Expect a minimum of 1.5 hours each way to commute into the city areas like Stone Town. Other than that, for what you get in quality and celebrity treatment, the distance is the minimum of your worries! The staff literally cater to your every need!

One other story, I came back from an excursion and needed dental floss. A staff member was prepared to call a pharmacy to get someone to deliver it to my room. I declined because it wasn’t necessary but just goes to demonstrate how serious they take guest satisfaction! Loved this place and will miss it tremendously.

My husband and I didn’t spend a lot of time on the property as we got married on the beach at a nearby hotel….but they decorated the room and had flowers for us at reception when we returned from our wedding. The staff is super friendly, grounds are clean and customer service is great.

Very stylishly designed hotel. Beautiful decor & tropical gardens leading to a picture perfect white sandy beach. Gorgeous large comfortable rooms. The perfect place to chill after our safari’s & stay in Stone Town.

Thank you to the chef for fantastic food, especially the curries.

All the staff were so lovely and the service was great.

We also enjoyed the low tide sea safari with one of the staff.

We highly recommend this as a beautiful chilled place to stay.

We had a wonderful 3-night stay at LUX at the end of May — the place is absolutely beautiful! From the moment we arrived until the moment we left, the staff made our experience truly special.

A big shoutout to Kennedy at the front desk — his hospitality was out of this world! So pleasant and polite, he took the time to show us around and made us feel at home right away. Huge thanks to Abdul at the cashier desk for the amazing upgrade to the Executive Beach Front Room #9 — what a treat! And Ali at Café LUX, thank you for your help — such a well-mannered young man.

We will definitely be coming back again!

Hotel is nice. You do get hassled on the beach. The different food and drinks packages are confusing so do your maths on regular intake. Hotel is expensive but so are all hotels in Zanzibar.

From the moment we stepped into Lux* Hotel Zanzibar, we knew we were in for an extraordinary experience. The hotel itself is breathtaking, but what truly sets it apart is the staff—easily the friendliest I’ve ever encountered in my life.

A heartfelt thank you to Pina, who welcomed us with such warmth and grace. Her attention to detail and personal touches made our stay feel incredibly special. Pina’s genuine care and energy elevated our entire experience, and it’s safe to say she’s the heart of the hospitality at Lux*.

Another standout was Fadna at the Lux* Café. Her Zanzibar Iced Coffee is a must-try—absolutely divine and the perfect reflection of the local flavors. Fadna’s passion for her craft shines through in every sip and interaction, making each visit to the café a delightful experience.

Lux* Hotel Zanzibar provided not just a place to stay but a collection of unforgettable memories. The incredible staff, especially Pina and Fadna, turned our vacation into something truly magical. This was, without a doubt, the most memorable hotel visit of my life, and I can’t recommend Lux* Zanzibar enough. Beautiful hotel but very very hot …

It is a beautiful hotel!!! So nice place !!! Unfortunately there is not air acondition is any place , at room air condition did not work properly and they did I not do anything about it … our room says for 3 people but unfortunately space did not permit it so we had to take another room . For price it is not good but I have to say it is a very beatific place .

Another annoying thing it is that you can not go to water at the beach, as the Masai do not allow you without charge you 150 usd to go with your to water …. It is imposible to go out of hotel boundary … they put in front animals to say that it is unsafe to walk in there ..::

Overall a fantastic resort for families with the beach touching it .

Very nice resort and super friendly staff. Giving 4 stars because I feel the outside area in Grand Lux suite could have been upkept better also some bath towels had stains on them. Other than that my stay here was lovely would return again. The food was great too

They make sure your arrival is very welcoming and will go out of their way to make everything as comfortable for you. And of course the property there is beautiful. Would give this hotel a lot more stars if I could! We had an amazing time from the moment we checked in l, to when our stay came to an end. The hotel is elegantly designed and perfectly maintained. Our bedrooms were large, clean and had a good layout with the most comfortable bed and pillows I could imagine. The staff were very friendly and approachable throughtout - always asking how we were, if we needed anything and wanted us to enjoy our stay. Special mentions go to Christopher, Glory and Norah at reception/housekeeping and Ursulina our waitress and Dinesh the Head Chef who made sure we were well looked after. The beach, pool and spa are all clean and again well maintained. This hotel is smaller than some of the others in the area and I think that adds to its charm plus staff go out of their way to ensure guests comfort. I would highly recommend!

It's been a week since my vacation, and I'm still in awe of how perfect my stay at the hotel was. The hotel excels in every aspect, from the friendly and attentive staff who anticipate your every need to the delicious food and fantastic activities on offer. The rooms are very spacious and clean. In the evening, the housekeeping staff even prepare the beds for sleeping and replace the towels again. There are wonderful entertainment programs in the evening, such as open-air cinema. The hotel has a family-like atmosphere, with the staff checking in on your well-being daily and engaging in relaxed conversations. I would recommend this hotel to anyone and hope to return soon.

Super schönes Zimmer, mit allem was man braucht.
Ein bisschen mühsam war, dass man den Vorhang bei der Türe zum Balkon nicht wegschieben konnte, um rauszugehen.
Tolles, gesundes, vielfältiges Frühstück.
Personal sehr freundlich, erfüllten uns jeden Wunsch.
Ein Kritikpunkt sind die Liegestühle inkl. Matten
am Pool und am Strand und die Loungesessel beim Beach-Restaurant. Sehr unbequem und in einem desolaten Zustand, alt, dreckig und zerrissen.

Hôtel très bien localisé avec une belle piscine et la plus belle plage de la zone (banc de sable à marée basse). Le personnel est au petit soin au restaurant, bar et pour les activités !
La chambre avec vue mer était magnifique. Petit cadeau Lux à l'arrivée;
Point à améliorer pour la proposition restauration pour atteindre la qualité Lux Belle Mare.
Quelques améliorations au niveau de la maintenance (fuite au niveau des menuiseries, ..)

An unforgettable experience at Lux Marijani ZNZ

Our stay at Lux Marijani was magical, and it’s hard to find enough words to describe how unique this place is.

First and foremost – the staff! Every single person we met was outstanding. You quickly build a personal connection with many of them, and they bring joy and attention from morning till night. We had the most contact with Clementina, Gloria, Mustapha, Mildred, Olivia, Mirsho, Isaac and Reemha – all smiling, welcoming, humble and genuinely kind people who truly want to give you the best holiday.

Manager Sumit was always present, engaging with guests and ensuring everyone had a wonderful stay. It’s clear he leads a team that truly cares.

The dining experience was superb – both buffet and à la carte. Head chef Nitesh impressed us by creating dishes outside the menu, while pastry chef Desi crafted desserts on another level. The bar team – Alex, Michael and the rest – were a joy every day, full of energy, humor and professionalism.

Special thanks also to Abu, the animation manager, who kept the atmosphere lively and made sure all guests felt included. Housekeeping kept our room spotless with twice-daily service and evening turndown – a real touch of luxury.

Flexibility is excellent – meals in the restaurant, beach lounge, on the beach or in-room. Going on an excursion? They prepare a lunchbox.

All in all, we had an unforgettable holiday. A warm thank you to Sumit and his team – you made our stay something we’ll never forget. And by the way – no mosquitos!
