Stunning, but not for those who have a hard time with nature. We saw a green tree snake, large gecko, small gecko in the room at night time. Staff were absolutely lovely.

Everyone there was so very communicative and helpful, from airport pick up to a late night meal, due to a late flight, there was always someone there to help. In general everyone was also so friendly! The property is beautiful~ right beside the river, you can have breakfast with a view^^ If you want to visit this area it is a beautiful, quiet property to call homebase^^

This resort is in a beautiful tropical setting and the staff were lovely. It is very isolated from shops etc and bottled water expensive at the villa and nowhere to buy any snacks (no complimentary water in the fridge). Breakfast was nice but if you choose fruit with your main you have to buy coffee,tea or fruit juice! Seemed to be additional costs for everything. It’s very quiet and we spent a day by the pool with only us there for the day which was lovely! Our villa was great with an upstairs bed and bathroom as well as one downstairs- a very different but unique experience

We loved the serenity of Villa Semana, the privacy and location allow for a real luxury getaway while still being close to Ubud and surrounds. The staff were fantastic and the restaurant food and service 5 star. The amenities and grounds are very well presented. This would be an excellent venue for a larger gathering such as a wedding celebration. As a honeymoon/romantic/relaxation Villa Semana is perfect. We loved it!

The natural beauty was everywhere. It was quite noisy for a secluded resort. But I think that may have just been the luck of the draw. I don’t expect that there will be temple ceremonies with loud music until late at night often. It just so happened to be when we were there. Thank you so much for your kindness and beautiful setting.

Villa was beautiful and it was great to have a large pool as well as the private villa pool. The view of the rice field as you come in to the resort is breathtaking.

The restaurant was disappointing as the food wasn’t up to the standard of the hotel which was a shame.

The hotel is quite isolated which is lovely for peace and quiet but the shuttle isn’t very frequent which makes getting around a pain. Would be great if they increased the number of shuttles a day or did it on a bookable basis as many of the other hotels seem to do.

The trips they are offer are quite expensive so would recommend looking on Trip Advisor for those instead. Also everything seems to be priced in US dollars.

The property is really well maintained you cannot fault the staff excellent. my only concern was that it was harvesting time for the rice and there were workers stationed a couple of metres from our pool for most of the day, the shower is outside so this was not so private for us which was a concern.
They should have let s know at time of booking .

Superb place! The pictures don’t do it justice. If you have a spa treatment that involves a bath, your tub is facing the river on one side and a small waterfall on the other. It was the most beautiful setting I’ve ever seen.
The staff were all so friendly and polite.
Meant to be a quiet/relaxing spot. Not much to do on the resort, but Ubud is a short drive away.

Peaceful villa in the rice terraces of Ubub

I stayed here mainly to be out of the busy city of Ubud and be in the beautiful, quiet rice terraces.
The grounds are so peaceful and well-maintained. I didnt see any guests for my first two days here! It's so serene and everyone that stays there seems to keep to themselves. The made to order breakfasts by the pool are delicious. The staff is all so lovely and the free shuttle to the city was so convenient! I would note you are staying in nature, so geckos, lizards and chickens are the norm!

Gorgeous location, outstanding staff and service

Amazing experience from beginning to end. This property is more beautiful in reality than the photos. Tranquility, beauty and great view of a gorgeous rice field, meditation space, spa by the Ayun river. They call it courtesy shuttle, but it was more a “private driver” into center of Ubud. Will come back again and again and stay longer

The two-story villa we had was wonderful, the food was very good, the service and staff were excellent, but the only downside is the lack of activities at the hotel. It would have been nice to have a billiards table, a ping-pong table, a darts game, or a tennis court would have been perfect!

Have never felt so well looked after, the staff were amazing. Lovely villa overlooking the river - loved, loved, loved our stay here. There were so many little things that made the stay special. If you missed the free afternoon tea, a little tray of chocs or Macaroons in your room on your return, the rooms are services in the morning, but also there is a turn down service in the evening. Everything is so attentive and well thought out, really felt special.

Semana gave us a amazing stay while we were in ubud. All the staff in the hotel is friendly, attentive, caring, flexible and wearing their big smile at all times!
The room is beautiful, spacious, exactly like the pictures! They offer you a selection of breakfast menu unlike those buffet style breakfast. Honestly, this wonderful stay is really far beyond my high expectation!! Thank you all the staff there, your efforts made us a perfect sweet holiday!

Even my local taxi driver said \"wow\" as we drove in! Amazing place, incredibly friendly and attentive staff and I would definitely stay here longer if I came back. My villa was impeccable. I really enjoyed walking through the rice fields in the estate and the view of the river valley from the infinity pool is very relaxing. Highly recommended.

Beautiful hotel with the most welcoming staff

It's been a long time since we felt so welcomed at a hotel. Great staff, they do their best to make their guests feel welcomed. Especially Mr. Agus made our journey much more enjoyable.The rooms were great; just like promised. The staff was very accomodating; made the transportation to the town very easy. The location of the hotel is beautiful... in the middle of the green fields, with a pool overlooking the river. We truly enjoyed our experience; and do look forward to go back. Thank you Villa Semana Team for making our Ubud experience so enjoyable.

We had a very nice one night stay here, the views over the paddy fields from our a room and of the river from the restaurant were a highlight. It was very refreshing after the traffic and commercialisation of Denpasar, Seminyak etc. and I would recommend staying in Ubud and at the Semana.

Nice enough hotel located in the middle of jungle in ubud. They provide free shuttle bus to ubud. Hotel itself is quite peaceful right next to a rice field and a river. The garden looks very nice also with ponds with koys in them.

Could this be Eat, Pray, Love?

Villa Semana is located approximately 7km/15 mins from Ubud Town centre. However, a timetabled complimentary shuttle is offered almost every hour to and from the town. It costs 50,000 if you wish to travel outside the timetable, which is cheaper than you would pay a taxi anyway.
Villa Semana is absolutely stunning, surrounded by jungle with rice fields to the right and flowing river just below the pool. We stayed in the cheapest villa and it was incredible. The villa was 2-stories with the upstairs being a chill-out study. It had an both an inside and outside shower, plunge pool and amazing view. The staff were so lovely and eager to please. We would often talk with the staff and they were such beautiful people.
Unfortunately we didn't check out the spa until our last day when we were out of time. It is right on the river and super relaxing. I honestly have never seen a spa in such an amazing location like this before.
Our flight didn't leave until later in the evening and the staff were more than accommodating to provide us with a really late check-out so that we could still enjoy the facilities during the day. We were happy to pay the premium for the Semana airport transfer because of this.
Villa Semana is perfect for couples to relax at the end of a holiday. We came from Gili T so I found it a huge shock to go from such craziness to such peace and tranquility. Due to it's location, it may not be for everyone such as singles looking to meet other travellers.

Villa Semana is a dream! Gorgeous setting that feels like you died and went to heaven. Private pool villa? Yes, please. Excellent service, wonderful kind staff. Shuttle service to Ubud was incredibly convenient. It's on a schedule, but they will take you anytime you need if you just give 15 minutes notice. We were greeted with iced rose wine, a beautiful plate of fruit, and rose petals in the bath (it was our honeymoon)! Each night we came back to find a plate of goodies - almond cookies, chocolates, etc. Those little touches, the incredible location, and the kind staff made this a fantastic hotel!

The Most Amazing Staff, Location and Food

It is set in the most tranquil setting with beautiful gardens with views of the Rice Paddies and River.

Amazing Villas with private pool that we used when ever we where there. Great bedroom with air conditioning and out door sitting room and Lotus pond was a unique experience.

The staff were all so helpful and kind and really made our stay at Villa Semana the special experience it was. We miss them all and hope to visit them again. Try our new cocktail the Baliiwi Tea ;)

The food was outstanding. Even the most basic of options were filled with flavour. We did the cooking class with the Chef which was a great fun day and would recommend if you have the time to do it.

The spa was set down with the river and was really good. listening to the river and the other nature noises was very relaxing. My partner and i did the evening couples massage package which was really special.

You can get a shuttle into Ubud village easily with the Villa Semana drivers which is only 15 mins away. They can also organise day trips for you. They were very friendly and able to answer questions when we went along about the strange sites we saw.

We stayed the full 7 nights here and ventured out on day trips to other areas in Bali and found it a really great central location. It was great to go and spend a day or/and night in the busier areas of Kuta or Seminyak and then come back to the peace and tranquility of Villa Semana.

Wonderfully relaxing experience!

My husband and I stayed in Villa Semana for a night after staying in Jimbaran. We were warmly welcome by Dewi the moment we arrived at the villa. All the staff we met were extremely friendly and accommodating.
The complimentary shuttle service to Ubud centre was helpful as the villa is a good 20 minutes away from town. The driver was prompt and reliable. We didn't even need to remember the car plate number for our return pick up as the driver confidently assured, \"don't worry, I will recognise you.\"
The villa is cosily decorated and it is refreshing experience for urban dwellers like us to fall asleep to the sounds of nature and waking up to roosters crowing in the padi fields. We had our breakfast served in the room and food was yummy! For those with sweet tooth, I'd recommend the crepes with banana.
Love the infinity pool, presents a great view of the river, well kept and clean.
Just a short note for ladies, there will be a fair amount of small bugs and insects since we are sharing space with nature. But the best thing is there are no mosquitoes at all!
Overall our stay in Villa Semana was a wonderful experience and I would recommend it to anyone who wants a relaxing escapade from the busy city life.

we really enjoy our stay here and would not hesitate to come back if was given chance!. the staff was really friendly and and welcoming. the room is superb and the view of the rice paddy field is majestic.
the only downside is that there is too many lizards on the wall and frogs in the room pond that jumps out into the resting place.

Peace and quiet close to Ubud

Villa Semana is a tranquil place set in amazing surroundings. The staff were very attentive without being intrusive and the villa was beautiful and private.
If you are looking for an escape and a break from society this is the place. Nothing to do in the evenings except relax or get the shuttle from the villa to Ubud, last pick up is 10pm. We took a laptop to watch movies as there is wifi and the nights get dark very quickly.

My favorite place in Bali!

It is outside of the main hubbub of Ubud, instead of cars and crowds of tourists you are surrounded by gardens and terraced rice patties. The villas are immaculate and so special. The indoor/outdoor living quarters and plunge pool combine comfort and luxury to make you never want to leave. There is a free shuttle bus to take you to Ubud and back throughout the day. But with a setting like Villa Semana, you might just want to stay. Things to enjoy on site: restaurant, pool, spa, creek, private tour of local village and rice patties. The only reason I gave it 4 stars on room comfort instead of 5 is that the bed was quite firm. Nevertheless, I'll be back. Loved it.

Excellent location a bit out of central Ubud looking out over rice paddies.
Handy to Ubud itself, with courtesy transport going to centre very regularly. But a taxi home is so cheap, it's not important.
Some excellent restaurants in town - especially Loca Vore which is a must for an amazing food gastronomy experience - not cheap, but excellent. So many other restaurants - look for recommendations if you get stuck.
Amazing spas and massage. We went to recommended places, ad never disappointed. I think it worth trying many different places as they are all quite different to each other!

Lil Paradise :)

We arrived at Villa Semana after spending 3days at the picturesque beaches & ultra luxurious resorts of Nusa Dua. So initially it was a shocker as Villa Semana exists in a completely different world.

It's a charming lil place with maybe 8 cottages, the best ones being the ones right above the Spa, nestled on a semi-cliff kinds with the river running rampant below. The view from here is truely beautiful and one can just relax and take in the sounds of nature and the sun resting on the deck chairs beside the private pool.

The Ubud town centre is a really busy place with lotsa deals on offer on paintings, wooden carvings etc.The Saraswati temple at the city centre is a real splendid place what with Lotus filled ponds surrounding it from all sides.
We took the Villa Semana cab to the town centre but beware, this service is every once in an hour.

As for the food, Breakfast was good and menu even though not extensive had a few good options. Their Capuccino was something my wife loved :)

The staff were more than courteous right throughtout the stay. Big thanks to Swastika, Jana Wan, Nana, Dewi, Agus. You guys really made our stay great, especially Jan Wan and Nana :)

A few tips to make the paradise even better :

1) The cake slices offered with the Tea in the evening kind of become repetitive after day one.

2) To the owners, if possible, pls install some lights along the river bank. This would make the night view truely amazing from the river facing villas.

This resort is a few minutes drive from downtown Ubud. The resort runs a regular free transport service to town.

The villas are all private and have their own swimming pools. Our villa had a wonderful view over rice fields, which I thought was better than the popular tourist stops for viewing rice terraces.

I had a rate that included an alacarte breakfast each day, which was of high quality. Other meals and room service were also good.

The service provided by the staff was exceptional. Nothing was too much trouble and the resort happily accommadted a 6pm checkout at the end of our 7 night stay.

Quiet stay in Ubud

My first time in ubud and villa semana made it a rememberable experience. Beautifully kept landscape and villa, not a huge resort but a cozy villa style gives it a nice feeling. Food and staff was amazing as well. It was slightly on the expensive side compared to others. Other facilities like renting a car, spa etc were also expensive than others.

At villa Semana you may experience beautiful rice field views, a lovely Balinese villa with your own private pool, and true serenity. Although it was fully occupied when we were there, we seldom say the other guests. Small and exclusive. And you must experience the spa. It is the most beautiful location and professional treatment I've experienced in Bali, and that is after some 12 visits ot more to various locations.

One night was more than enough

We left off our luggage early in the day -as it was too early to check in-and set off on an excursion. We returned rather late in the evening and were shown our room by a lovely member of the staff. But the room had a terrible chemical smell, it was overpowering. Was it ammonia? Urine? I'm not sure. I mentioned this to the man and he claimed it was due to the straw roof being damp from the rain. But the smell really seemed to be coming both from the closet and from the bathroom. It was so strong it hurt my eyes and nose. If it hadn't been so late, we would have left and gone elsewhere. He warned us not to leave the door open at night, which I had wanted to do to get some air. The room itself was small, and the bathroom was not particularly attractive. At breakfast, the Swiss owner came by everyone's table and at ours he gave a sales pitch for the spa. Memo to owner: don't impose sales pitches on paying guests while they are having breakfast. The breakfast was okay. We were happy to leave right afterwards.

Beautiful, peaceful accommodation in a serene location 15 minutes out of Ubud. Staff were very helpful and the owner took us on a morning mountain bike ride which was a highlight of our stay. The villas were immaculate and typically Bailnese in style and decor. Overall a very relaxing and enjoyable stay! Highly recommended.

Perfect location/outstanding hotel

No hesitation to recommend this hotel. It provides five star luxury in the most beautiful surroundings. If you want to be in the heart of the hustle and bustle of Ubud this hotel may not be for you. It is set on the outskirts overlooking paddy fields and the river. But the hotel provides a regular (and free) shuttle service to Ubud centre. It's the perfect way to experience the real Ubud/Bali.

Paradise Found!

Consisting of only 10 villas (I think), 5 of which were occupied, this place is an exclusive, secluded, romantic getaway. My husband and I spent 3 nights in the Melati deluxe pool villa and could not have been more pleased. The villa itself was beautifully appointed, with attention to detail, from the fruit basket that was replenished daily, to the good night chocolates, to the frangipani blossoms placed on our comfortable king-sized bed each night. Upon entering the villa, you cross your own lily pond by 3 stepping stones, into the open-air living area containing two loungers and a coffee table. The living room opens to your pool with two lounge chairs and a frog fountain. The pool was very refreshing after a hot day, and the privacy was nice so that clothing was not necessary! Entering though the sliding door, you see your lovely bed which, at night, is surrounding by mosquito netting which adds to the romantic ambiance. The owner, Yurg, has thought of everything- the unit had its own stereo system with romantic mix CDs including Barry White and Norah Jones. The bathroom is large, with an indoor pool and outdoor shower. The grounds are lovely and well-kept, the restaurant charming, and the infinity pool overlooking the river breathtaking. The staff was attentive and friendly, and the shuttle service to town simple and flexible. We really hated to leave.

The perfect romantic hideaway.

Tucked away from the hustle and bustle of the island. An amazing place to stay. Ideal honey moon destination. Tranquil, romantic and lush grounds overlooking the river. Service staff give key attention to detail. We had the restaurant to ourselves most nights as very flexible with eating arrangements. Try the Rosemary Lamb Chops or the chicken and beef satays. We had garden view villa but would pay the extra and get deluxe villa next time as views are amazing. Would stay again. You wil not be disappointed if you choose to stay here.

Magical villas set in perfect surroundings

This place is simply magical. On arrival we were upgraded to a suite which was wonderful. Pure luxury. The location is superb - with fabulous untouched views. The food (we had breakfast and dinner) was delicious and very reasonable (although dinner was on the small side - but that just means you have room for desert!). The hotel also offers a free shuttle into Ubud which runs until 10.30pm (I think) which is great.

Het is een heerlijke plek om te verblijven. Het resort ligt aan de rivier. Vanuit het restaurant heb je er mooi zicht op. Wij hadden vanuit onze villa en het privé zwembad ook een vrij uitzicht op de rivier en volop privacy. Het personeel is super aardig. Echt top!

Preis-/Leistung bei weitem nicht erfüllt

Saubere, gepflegte Anlage, etwas ausserhalb vom Zentrum gelegen was eigentlich auch schön ruhig wäre, jedoch etwas sehr in die Jahre gekommen ist. Wir hatten ein Zimmer mit eigenem Pool und Reisfeldsicht. Dies war angenehm gross.
Die ganze Nacht über war jedoch ein lautes gequake von Fröschen und Gekos welche sich unter Umständen auch in der Dusche befinden da diese im Freien ist.
Das Frühstück war für uns etwas dürftig für ein 4* Hotel, kein Buffet. Für das Dinner war auch keine grosse Auswahl. Uns kam es vor als wenn wir in einem Geisterhotel übernachten, andere Gäste waren kaum zu sehen. Also für Ruhesuchende ideal. Personal war sehr nett. Ich verbrachte meinen Geburtstag dort, ausser einem Stück Kuchen mit 2 Kerzen keine Überraschung. Hatten wir an anderen Orten schon ganz anders erlebt.

一人旅で3泊しました。ヴィラ自体に古さはあるものの、ベットはとても清潔で木の温かさがあり安心感がありました。何といっても目前に田園が広がっているのでとても静かで鶏の鳴き声がよく聞こえました。人里離れた場所でゆっくりのんびり癒されたい方には最高のロケーションだと思います。スタッフの方々も皆さんとても親切でした。レストランの食事もおいしかったです。

Un des meilleurs hotels que j'ai fait. En pleine nature vu sur les rizières . Le personnel est très accueillant et souriant. Nous avions une chambre avec piscine privative, un peu loin du centre cependant. Rien à dire sur cette hotel à part que tout était parfait.

The worst hotel we ever stayed at

This is the worst hotel we ever stayed at. For a starter they do not have a manned reception but we were told that we could call them 24/7, and we could but when calling in the morning for breakfast we had to try to reach them for more than 30 minutes the same happened when trying to call during the evening. Second when you take a shower it is outside with view over rice fields, and a walk path which means very often people are standing just outside so you have no privacy when showering. Third it looks very romantic with a Villa in the “jungle” but please be aware there are a lot of reptiles and other animals outside which is okay, but the rooms has huge air gaps everywhere so the reptiles can enter your room. Over the bed there is luckily a mosquito net. One night suddenly a 30cm long gekko jumped down on the net just above our heads runs and jumps to the wall and out. After that for me as European it is very hard to fall asleep again. Also be aware the hotel is located a bit remotely from other restaurants and etc. but you can order food at the hotel. First day we ordered lunch it took more than 1hour before we got the food and only one other couple was at the hotel at this time, and sorry to say, it was the worst meal we had in Bali, but on the other hand, it was also very expensive compared to Indonesia.
And last but not least the Wi-Fi does not work in the rooms.
