The room was spotless. It had a bit of a musty smell but the resort is amazing. The pools were okay. The best pool is by the restaurant at the front. Front desk service was excellent. I would come back and stay here again.

Great staff! Very clean room. In its day, this place must have been spectacular. It is now showing its age with abandoned rooms and areas, peeling paint etc. Beautifully landscaped. A wonderfully explorable property...We spent a week finding all of the nooks and crannies of the place...Delightful! Well located. Walkable into town (not using the main road). Do not eat raw vegetables in Bali!

It is an amazing Hotel with a delicious breakfast and very friendly and kind staff. The hotel has a transport service to Ubud center 3 times per day for free. If you need a hotel in Ubud, stay in the Mansion Resort Hotel and Spa. It was wonderful!!

The property is stunningly beautiful. The staff are extremely friendly and non-intrusive. Bali is a hot climate and the air conditioning in the room worked well, the hot water for the shower did not work so well, there is no air conditioning in the lobby/restaurant area but there are a few cooling fans. The hotel has six boutique size swimming pools, absolutely marvellous. The food in the restaurant is quite good, the included breakfasts are very good, way better than what has become standard in North America.

This place is magical! Be aware that they do host retreats that utilize one of the outdoor stages with a PA system for the teacher to speak over sometimes early in the morning but it wasn't terribly loud. I stayed in both the standalone lodge and then moved to another room that was part of the retreat package I came for and both are amazing in their own way.

Our stay was not good at all, when we arrived in our room we were shocked to see that the room was soo outdated for a 4 star hotel. There was ants in our room which kept coming on daily even after the cleaner, bless him, tried to get rid of them for me. The next day we had a gecko in our room. Not to mention the continuous any highway running across the ceiling. It was not a comfortable stay we avoided being in our room and in the hotel as it was just ants everywhere and soo outdated.

I enjoyed the location of the property. There was security who stopped everyone who entered so my partner and I felt safe. The staff and service was great for the entirety of our stay. We went to our room and saw that it didn’t have a bathtub, the whole reason we booked with this property and they were quick to accommodate us. The staff was very friendly, always greeting us whenever they saw us. The breakfast was nice and they were always bringing out fresh food. The pools were well maintained. Overall, great stay for what you pay.

Elegant rooms in an expansive compound

Lovely, elegant room, with a bath/shower, which I appreciated. One stepped out to a small childrens' pool which seemed never to be used. There were 6 pools in all, in the midst of verdant tropical vegetation, and exotic paraphernalia. At times it felt like one was staying in an abandoned film set. Think Howard Hughes.

A very big resort, beautiful. I was staying alone for 1 night and a group of male workers unlocked the door to my room. It was an accident and they probably thought it was unoccupied but still unacceptable and there is not other lock on the inside of the room.

Wait, don't stay during ongoing construction

I can’t recommend this hotel right now. It has so much potential but it feels as if it’s just reopened, the staff are trying to learn their jobs and most of the pools are under renovation.

It was difficult to find a common area to relax and enjoy the jungle like scenery, which is the highlight of the hotel, because there is so much renovation going on. The good news is I didn’t hear any of this noise in my room (#21).

Only one restaurant is open right now and the service is extremely slow. The included breakfast is ok, not many options to choose from and I found it odd no fruit is included my first few days but they did add half way through my 7 night stay.

There was a retreat going on during my stay, which is fine, but given 80-90% of the guests were part of the retreat it wasn’t a great place to meet people, as a solo traveler and felt deserted when they were in their sessions. When they were out of session they took over the place and weren't inviting to anyone not part of the retreat. I get it, I do retreats and you're bonding with those you're in the experience with, so this isn't a criticism just rather pointing out it would be helpful to know events going on at the property before deciding if its a good time to stay.

Finally, its pretty far from Ubud Centre & with traffic its 30-45 minutes one way

I really wanted to love this property, again it has so much potential, and once the work is done to bring it back to its glory, I’m open to giving it another chance.

The hotel must have been incredible in its hay day!! We had a family room which was great, very clean. We had one large bedroom with a king bed and the second bedroom with 2 single beds. Big bathroom which was great, but had a shower that didn’t work and a leak in the roof. The bathroom did have a large bath shower combo so we used that. The grounds were massive, definitely in need of some TLC but still beautiful and tropical. The 6 pools were great to have. We used their free shuttle service to get to the main shopping area of Ubud and back to hotel. We would definitely stay here again!

The property itself was nice, I love the jungle vibe with all the trees and the little ponds with the fish and the many swimming pools. Our governor suit was also pretty good, very large and the room was always cleaned when we requested. If there's one major complaint we had it was the food. The breakfast was very limited and most of the time the food was cold, even being one of the first ones there at 7am. The room service food was just as bad, cold and expensive for what it was. One time we had ants on our burger bread. They were nice enough to give a refund on that item but it shouldn't happen at a so called 5 star resort. Other than the food though, it was a nice property and very safe with security at every entrance. I will point out that the staff are very friendly, definitely a highlight of the stay.

We rented two bungalows for one night for my wife and I and another couple traveling with us. The rooms were perfect when we checked in, well decorated, comfortable, and very relaxing. When we woke in the morning our bathtub and towels on the bathroom floor were covered with dead insects, mostly ants. Given that this is a tropical location there will undoubtedly be some bugs in the rooms but we had a lot of them. We didn’t notice any on the furniture or in the bed though. Our traveling companions didn’t have any issues with insects in their room so I don’t think our experience is the norm. Otherwise this place is amazing. So many pools and areas to meditate/relax.
During our stay the grounds were being worked on and not all areas and pools were accessible.
There is a spa on-site but the ladies chose to use the numerous spas in Ubud. The front desk staff is amazing. They helped us arrange transportation to/from town when our schedule didn’t line up with the regular shuttle times. We plan to stay here again on our next trip to Bali.

Great stay! Was at the mansion in the one bedroom pool villa for two weeks during an Acroyoga teacher training. Was gorgeous setting, cool shala training spaces, so many pools and just felt like this amazing oasis of tranquility. The spa was great. Had an amazing deep tissue massage after my 36 hours of flying from Texas. I would definitely stay again !

The hotel grounds and pools are clean and beautiful. Everyhting about this hotel is huge. The room was very spacious for 4 people. Staff was very friendly and helpful. We're glad they had airport pick up as we got to Bali after dark, and drop off service (for a fee). The hotel driver, Daywa, was amazing! He was flexible and took us everywhere we wanted on the tour.
Some minor issues: the hot water faucet for showering didn't work for a bit. They fixed it within the same day. We had car trouble on the tour. They sent another car and we continued on our tour like it never happened.
Overall, we had a wonderful time in Ubud.

Some of the staff are very friendly. But sometimes the staff can just stand about chatting rather then being attentive and clearing away dishes after the person had left which results in insects. Examples: My drink which was handed to me had three ants inside and on on the outside of the glass which could only have come from the bar counter or serving tray. At breakfast the salad had been left uncovered and as covered in flies. On both occasions staff were standing about and both of these could have been avoided with a bit of care and attention. The Governor Suite was very nice and clean.

This property was advertised as 5 star and it was NOT! Rooms need updating, had quite a few geckos in the room and heaps of mosquitoes. I have stayed in Ubud before at 5 star hotels and this was far from it!
Breakfast was a disaster so I didn’t even bother trying lunch or dinner there.
I checked out early because the hotel was not up to scratch.
On the positive side, the sheets and towels were very clean and bed was comfy snd the staff were nice.

Overall enjoyed our stay at this hotel. It is an ideal location, with a free shuttle bus into central Ubud. The hotel is huge with our rooms were decorated lovely and there were about 5 different swimming pools we had access to. Staff were welcoming and friendly, however we were informed the day before that the hotel will be holding an event for two days whilst we were staying in the hotel. Music was blasted out loud from 11am to 11pm, if we had known that this event was taking place in advance (not the day before) we would have arranged for more activities to spend outside of the hotel.

This hotel Has beautiful grounds but the rooms could use a little work. We had to switch rooms in the middle of the night because the smell of mold was causing my asthma to act up pretty badly. It took a day or so for everything to clear. Luckily I brought both inhalers. Changing rooms wasn’t too hard but there was not an apology from staff or management. Mold was clearly visible in bathroom and on walls in bedroom.

Nice pools are foyer and staff were friendly. The room we had was spacious and had a nice seating foyer area plus a verandah to sit.
The infinity pool and new building was impressive and the new restaurant was well fitted out, but no one was eating there much - served pretty well vegetarian food and could have had a different menu to cater for more people.
The resort is somewhat tired and needs some updates - main pool area was bit overgrown with grass around the pool.
The wifi was pretty poor around most of there resort and also in room. The pool side cafe served food which was quite poor quality and somewhat expensive.

Extravagant & enormous to say the least !

The Mansion was a dream! The resort's grounds were absolutely beautiful. Numerous swimming pools, private bungalows surrounded in lush greenery with big dreamy outdoor sunken-in bathtubs for relaxation, a nice buffet breakfast with a variety of options (egg station with cook, variety of fresh fruit, cereals, Indonesian dishes, teas/juice, full salad bar), 2 yoga studios with a variety of classes, a well equipped gym that was currently under renovation, an art museum on site, a spa with a variety of standard & unique services. I recommend their 'Lomi Lomi' massage -- a deep & long flowing strokes often using the forearms and generous amounts of oil. It released so much tension in my body & was very relaxing!

I was very pleased with my stay, and although short and sweet this time, I hope to be back for a longer visit in the future.

The surroundings are beautiful and there are multiple pools to chose from.
However the hotel needs an update ,especially the bathrooms.

The room was very good, kept clean.
WIFI reception was poor and variable
The grounds were very extensive but not maintained as well as expected.
The breakfast was limited but adequate.
The used plates and cups were all left at the table until the guests had left, attracting flies.
The hotel was over a mile away from the town but the shuttle bus service was free and good.
However,the town narrow single carriageway roads were absolutely cluttered with motor bikes --which were very noisy and their pollution was heavy .The footpaths either side of the roads were in very poor condition with motorcycles parked on them worsening matters.

From the moment you arrive you can tell what this hotel used to be - but gone are it's days of past glory and in it's place a tired, run down and overgrown property in serious need of an overhaul. From the broken pavers, to the cracked and broken tiles in the pools and the dirty, dusty buildings and facilities this hotel will not survive if it does not seriously lift it's game and give the property a major reno.

And I haven't spoken about the food - by far the most atrocious buffet breakfast we have ever had - our children refused to it the neon coloured processed jams that had clearly come out of a ten, the rescuscitated French Toast cut up from the day before or the fake meat sausages in a hue of chartreuse I am not familiar with.

With the slew of Rolls Royce, Bentley and Mercedes clearly owned by the owner my advice would be to sell them and use the money to revamp this property.

The only improvement i believe the hotel can use is to spray the rooms more often with mosquitoe spray. Due to the expanse landscaping, this attracted mosquitoes.

Really enjoyed our stay at the hotel. The shuttle bus is brilliant for getting into ubud. The room was gorgeous with a Comfy bed. Staff cleaned the room everyday (although o would suggest they have some do not disturb signs when you don't want it cleaned). Pools were lovely and clean and the gym was decent too. The only glitch was at check out when we were told we had 2 drinks from the mini bar that I've never ever heard of.. haven't checked my credit card but I didn't sign for that!

Disappointing hotel...
The housekeeping staff were lovely and so were the rooms, but I wouldn’t stay here again!
The staff on reception and in the restaurant and bar were unnecessarily rude on more than one occasion. Our card was declined once, even though there was sufficient funds and we were still able to pay, the receptionist continued to shout declined for everyone to hear which was nice of her!
We also came back to the hotel one night at 10pm and decided to have a drink in the bar, to be told it was shutting and only if it wasn’t a cocktail. 5 minutes after we got our drinks the doors were shut, lights switched off and we were told we would have to walk the long way round as they were going.
As for the rest of the hotel, the pictures look lovely but reality is a little different. It was in need of updating and a serious clean. A lot of the hotel activities promoted weren’t available with no explanation, the yoga area was used to store the towels.
This is more like a 3 star hotel and I wouldn’t recommend anyone to stay here.

Air in the room needs attention.

It was the smell, which was suddle, but the room was infected by mold.
I was perfect healthy when I checked in, woke up in the middle of the night with a running nose, and I still have a running nose days later..... not happy about that.
The Spa hot tub water , has a funny merky color, not sure why. The water also was only luck warm, too cold to be called hot tub.

Nice hotel & good service but I'd excited this in any 5 star. Room was basic and even had an issue with the shower not working (which was fixed promptly). There is not too much by the hotel as it is quite out the way. Breakfast was very basic. My review is based on the fact we have just moved to another 5 star hotel in Bali which was better in every aspect compared to this one.

Peaceful Hotel Outside of Town

The Mansion is an upscale resort in the Ubud region, about a 15-20 minute drive into town / the main street where most tourist shops and restaurants are located. It has 5 pools and a restaurant - it's very peaceful and the staff is super helpful and friendly. The hotel is clean, however some of the curtains and lounge chairs have visible wear and tear. Our room layout was a little strange, with the bathroom (shower/sink/toilet) being a part of the room with no door for privacy.

Not sure how it got 5 starts, but definitely a 3 star hotel. Rooms and amenities are pretty basic, so is breakfast. All the extras like taxi, restaurant and spa cost double the price nice places in Ubud town centre... All in all disappointed with the hotel in comparison to others in town and Bali.

Well we when we arrived we were put in a very small room for the first night while we reserved a familly room that wa supposed to be 480sg ft. The room smelt bad (humidity). There was a celebration in the ballroom and very noise until around 11pm and even later.
Then they moved us to a bigger room that looked ok but:
- we found worms in the bathroom and bedroom
- the room was next to a school that started very early
- there were rosters waking us uo every morning at 4.30
- they treated the hotel against mosquitos while we were in the bedroom. We had to go to the bathroom with the kids and wait until all fumes were gone (who would do that? )
Breakfast is Ok but average compare to similar hotel in the area.
The people were nice but very embarrassed when I brought the issues above to attention.

The Hotel gardens pools rooms are excellent.
The food is terrible.
There is no Entertainment nights for cocktails or Evening Entertainment. So it lacks atmosphere.

Nice experience!

An wonderful resort, with nice pools and vegetation, the staff very friendly. They have terrible wi-fi and the breakfast is not a 5*.
They have a free bus that's going to Ubud. On a total it was a very nice experience.

Beautiful Hotel, Good Location

The Mansion Resort Hotel & Spa grounds are beautiful. A beautiful main building, three pools, and 150+ rooms on the property which is covered in antiques and Balinese art. This property is a really really stunning place.

The staff was kind and helpful. The food was good for all meals with a nice mix of Western food on the menu which we were thankful for.

Outdoor pool areas were nice and relaxing and so necessary in the heat.

We stayed in a family suite which was pretty basic, but a good size for three people. The bathroom did not have a stand-up shower. I don't think this is the case for all rooms at the hotel, but for the family room it only had a tub with the hand-held shower nozzle and I wish there was a separate stand-up shower. Our room was good for sleeping and comfortable. We ran into an issue for 2 of the 5 nights we were there with the loudest frog. It sounded like a duck. The hotel staff was really kind in trying to help get the frog to stop which was nice. Not much else they could have done as being in Ubud, you are in the jungle and surrounded by nature no matter where you stay. Don't fault the hotel at all for this, but boy were we glad when it stopped making noise so we could sleep.

Location is good, just a 10 minute drive outside of the Ubud city center. Hotel offers a shuttle to and from every two hours. Also nearby all other Ubud sites with a driver.

Would recommend this both as a good base of operations as well as a place to relax.

Really enjoyed my time here, the staff was really friendly and more than willing to help whenever asked. Every time I saw a staff memeber they always gave a warm and friendly hello or good morning, have a good day or how was your day. Overall, I really enjoyed my stay and would come back again

Hotel with Bali culture

Lovely hotel with landscaped grounds full of plants and artwork to reflect the Bali tradition, the staff were very charming and attentive to all the guests, very peaceful 3 days spent here and there was a free shuttle service into Ubud every 2 hours after 9am. From Ubud you could walk to the monkey sanctuary in 20 mins .

Visually beautiful, but lacking

The food is such a let down for this beautiful hotel. 200,000rp (around $20AUD) for buffet breakfast with dry toast as the only vegan option, and forget it if you want to eat healthy. I ate nothing but hotel food for 1 day because of the weather and i was violently ill for 24hrs and almost had to go to hospital. After my room was made up there was rubbish still around and my doona had no cover, just sheets and an exposed doona. The youngest guest there by far I kept getting asked my room no. when I was walking around. This hotel shoukd not be rated 5 star though. Hotel and staff beautiful otherwise.

Nice friendly staff

Good resort with friendly people. Breakfast was average with limited options. The pond in front of the room was dirty but cleaned from second day onwards.
