Just let them take care of everything for you. From airport pickup, excursions and everything in between. You will feel like family by the time you leave. I can’t wait to come back.

A wonderful view with jungle noise. Flower accents everywhere. Smiling staff and every detail in service was perfect. The breakfast brunch was lovely with many options and good hot coffee. The lunches were amazing . I was approached by the room manager and he said that my room was going to be renovated very soon. The pools were a nice temperature and the spa area was worth a look...even if you were not bookibg it. Heavy bags were carried up and down the many stairs for me. I would not recommend for those with mobility issues or easily exhausted by heat. It is built into a hillside. The gardens are amazing. Will return again. Thank you!

This place is still a page of Ubud history and steps from so many places you will want to visit. but they have really let the place get into disrepair. they are renovating, but the first pink room tile we were in was horrible. the 2nd room what nicer, but lacked places to store clothes/bags and had ants everywhere. it never really cooled down compared to other rooms either. i hope they can turn it around

Honestly, it was our worst and most shoking experience in all my times in Bali. Hotel looks beautful but needs a massive shake up and new management. There are 2 pools but only one is in the sunny area with warm water, even though it is in a poor condition and missing tiles under water. Pool is very small with only 5-6 sun beds while there are at least 5 times more guests are staying in the hotel so basically only 5 -6 people a day can stay around the pool. Person serving drinks in the pool bar does not speak any foreign language and has no idea what sort of alcohol he is putting into cocktails. First, we got Pina kolada purely non alcoholic while paid for the one with Bacardi. When we asked if there any Bacardi in the cocktail man quite rudely kept doing what he was doing ignoring us. When we insisted to tell us what was added to our cocktails man went into basically into a hole in the ground that served him as a kitchen and brought 2 bottles showing us that maybe added alcohol from any of these. Non of that was Bacardi and we had no idea what sort of alcohol was in that bottles! Nobody saw a problem in this and was unable to tell us what actually we drank and how somebody with no idea what he is doing and serving to customers can work in the pool bar and sell alcohol. We asked to speak to a manager and were told there is no manager!! Came to reception and all staff was laughing at us as we are crazy white ladies seeing no issues with anything. Lots more to say just no space

RUN away if you are bringing a group! Most of the staff are really beautiful but the manager was awful. He actually lied directly to us regarding our group arrangements - and put some of our group members in lesser quality rooms without our permission and having already paid for the higher class of room. Our group contact was very nice - but didn't get anything right regarding our rooms set up or spa appointments. They also lied to us about a special spa room we reserved. We got there and the wedding couple was told it was not available because it was \"broken\" but when we went there - it turns out they had just put someone else in that room. We also had our group luggage delivered before we arrived. They told us that it never came (which caused a panic) then they said it had just arrived. It was actually there for four hours so they did not tell us the truth and set up a panicked chain of events. This may be fine for a couple stay - but if you are a meeting planner or the coordinator for a family group - do not trust anything they say.

We enjoyed our stay at the Tjampuan. It is a charming, traditional Balinese style hotel with beautiful, lush gardens. Our room was spacious and comfortable (if a little tired) and the was a large balcony looking out on to thatched roofs and the rain forest beyond. To be fair, the bathroom was in need of renovation. The staff are welcoming, efficient and friendly.

This is a truly super hotel. My only complaint is with the restaurant. Two out of four nights eating there were a disappointment, with the food. Breakfast was excellent. Staff all generally very nice. Only had a problem with one worker coming onto our patio in the early morning and looking into our room. Talked to reception about it and they seemed to fix it. Sometimes the wifi was a little weak in our room...had to go to the lounge area for a good connection. Spa facial treatment was a disappointment. But overall this is a truly amazing hotel.

Have previously stayed at property but it is clear there has been a lack of ongoing maintenance and upkeep. Bathrooms are not cleaned sufficiently and I caught a bug from previous occupant, although had asked for cleaning on check in. Found mouse/rat dropping on bedding on last night. While seating in breakfast/restaurant area has a lovely outlook and is open, bird droppings are not cleaned from seats which is unhygenic. Breakfast and food selection is dated and does not reflect the excellent standard of food to be found in the ubud region. Hotel pool was not clear and had algae and there are no sun shades and no ability to fully utilize pool during day unless you want to bake in the full sun. Hotel has many staff and seems to have 6 people standing in foyer at any time doing nothing, staff cluster behind pool area and could be better used to clean. Sadly will not return.

Beautiful spy resort in Ubud Indonesia

We really enjoyed this spa resort. The bed Was hard and thesheetswerea little rough. The staff was very accommodating. Our room included the use of their day spa, which was a great place to relax and rejuvenate.. The property is on the edge of a river with breathtaking jungle views. I would stay here again. We did the cooking class with the chef and really enjoyed that also reasonably priced. We enjoyed the Indonesian food afterwar. As this resort is on a hillside there are lots of steps with no lift. Not a good place for people who can't do a lot of steps. But it is a beautiful resort.

Our first night in the room was terrible. The old rooms had borers dropping waste from the ceili g and the room was so excessively fumigated I got sick. The next day staff mived us to a refurbished room which was much better. They should not be using the old rooms in that condition. However the refurbished rooms are lovely. The views from rooms are wonderful there's 2 pools and one us spring fed, so it's glorious. Breakfast had a great selection and we had one dinner there which was good. Just a shame they used that bad room. Im still sick wirh asthma from it 3 days later.

The location is very good, the hotel is within walking distance from the Main Street,restaurants and monkey forest.
The staff is very kind and helpful. The spa and outside facilities are perfect.
Our room was very big with amazing view. The bed was very comfortable.
Bathroom was ok but a bit old. Needs renovation.
The only thing I didn’t like was the standard of cleaning. It’s definitely needs to be improved.

The position next to the river is beautiful. The room has everything we needed except that the hotel seems run down and in need of maintenance and repair particularly the bathroom. The pictures on the website for the bathroom is inaccurate. The toilet leaked, the kettle didn’t turn off when boiling, the safe didn’t work. The breakfast was average and we often have up our free breakfast and paid for other cafes nearby. We love the natural spring pool and privacy the hotel offers.

Unfortunately the tjampuhan spa as it is advertise on the website is not what it is, we booked the deluxe villa which was terrible the resort is in need of a huge amount of repair the spa was old dark an worn-out one of the pools was empty a dribbleof water in a concrete hole i do understand that for 2.5 years this resort like many others in bali has been bereft of visitors. we were fortunate, we were able to pay an additional sum an transfer to there sister hotel the pita maha which was far superior

The staff is absolutely wonderful, very helpful. The luggage porters carry your luggage over their shoulders down the side of the hill that the property is built into - very cool. The breakfast buffet was pretty tasty and the welcome drinks were delicious.

This property has an immense amount of potential. The concept is great: design a spa resort to resemble a traditional Bali village. The surrounding foliage is beautiful and exploring the property is an absolute joy. There is even a bridge that goes over a small creek.

However, this property is in desperate need of renovation. Many things are broken down or look like they haven't been maintained in a long time. The wooden window sill in the bathroom looked like it had been rotting for years. The shower was designed poorly and leaked water onto the floor no matter how well the curtain was pulled. The air conditioning had a wet sock smell and was not very strong at cooling the room (which is certainly needed in Ubud). The walls were very thin and we could hear everything from the next room.
The two pools on the property are stunning...but in desperate need of maintenance. Many of the floor tiles in/around the pool are missing, creating potentially dangerous situations for tripping or cutting one's foot.

If the management could invest more money into maintenance and upkeep, this place would be absolutely amazing. The property can still have a traditional village look and feel, just make everything clean and comfortable.

The grounds are beautiful and stunning. We had an amazing first impression. The location is fantastic—right on the main street but removed enough to feel relaxed.

Unfortunately, things went down hill when we got to the room. It smelled like mildew and was so damp. The furniture and decor was dark and dated. There weren’t outlets near the bed to charge your phone at night. The bedside lamp wouldn’t stay on due to a loose wire. A broken hanger in the closet cut my hand. Etc, etc. The pool is cute, but way to small for the hotel. We couldn’t get chairs because it was entirely packed. The spa was fine, but they market heavily to people not staying there, so it was hard to get an appointment and then full of people coming in from outside.

The internet requires you to enter a password every time you want to use it (multiple times per day), and the buffet breakfast was ok. Not great for someone with food allergies, though Bali in generis great for people with food allergies.

The staff were just not that friendly and didn’t seem happy. Those that were friendly were trying to drum up business for family members who work as drivers. The bell boy talked us out of booking a nice tour online to book through the desk instead. He said they offer the same thing. What they offered, though, was a ride, not a guide. Just a driver who would drop us off a different places and couldn’t tell us anything because he didn’t know much English. Overall, we were disappointed for the price.

This was our second time to this hotel. Love the gardens and the Balinese rooms. Staff are lovely. We had a room down the bottom by the river. Very quiet no traffic or people noise. It was worth the 115 steps uphill to breakfast. Very comfortable. The spa area is beautiful also.

Grounds of the hotel are really great as long as you don’t mind steps (depending on where your room is). Set on a hill side, location is 15min walk into town.

Spring pool was hard for them to keep clean from leaves etc as surrounded by overhanging trees and very shady so not good for sun worshippers but a great spot. Main pool is bigger and more sun on offer but not a great deal of space on sun beds.

Breakfast was overall very good and has a good selection. Freshly cooked eggs how you like them, plus bacon, chicken sausages, potatoes, toast + some local dishes like rice and noodles etc. Then a few pastries and jams also on offer with coffee, tea and juices.

We had a superior room which I understand most of the rooms are, but was a shame the doors were old style and locked with a padlock. Also, didn’t bother us, but small lizards and bugs could get in the doors as they didn’t seal on our room (we saw 1 gecko in the week and next to no bugs). Old style grass roofs also mean animals/birds could get in our roof, but again wasn’t an issue for us.

Hotel staff were very polite and helpful for transport and directions/advice etc. Can’t fault them! and steps with bags doesn’t need to be an issue with porters to help everyone check in/out.

Overall I don’t think we’d stay again, as my thoughts are we paid more than in other places in Bali and probably the lowest quality overall. In saying that, it was a nice hotel, you just have to look beyond a few issues.

The feel and character of this property is one of timeless serenity. Nothing is too much trouble for the staff who are always happy to assist you, welcoming and relaxed.

We were given a room which was quite a long walk from the main lobby plus a lot of stairs up in spite of telling that there is an infant with us. The room was beiji2 which was right below the road. All night long we kept hearing bike and car noise and horns. The property is not too clean with all the wooden doors etc having holes and gaps in middle. The main door, bathroom door etc all had holes. The washroom has 0 ventilation. No exhaust, no window apart from the minor opening which opens inside the room !!

Staff was very courteous and friendly. Room service average. Breakfast buffet average. The spa was wonderful and my wife loved it. The pool is small but gives a different feeling set amidst the jungle. Mosquitos as expected in a place set in the forests. Ambience outside the room was very nice and felt good to be so close to nature.

May be the other rooms are better as most of our dislike wa switch the room
In spite of choosing the deluxe rajah room option during booking.

Bathrooms old and need a really good clean. Room smelt damp. Aircon didn’t work particularly well. Shuttle bus only runs every couple of hours.

Truly a beautiful hotel. Spacious room with furnished balcony. Excellent buffet breakfast. All staff very pleasant, always smiling & helpful. Many stairs, thus not for the handicapped or those with weak legs.

If you want to be immersed in the jungle then this is the hotel for you. The location was excellent and the coffee shop across the street was amazingly delicious. The continental breakfast was good but the view makes it better. Just keep in mind the WiFi will suck here unfortunately but overall had a great time here. I would come back to visit and stay at this hotel.

The facilities are all first class. The hotel is steeped in history and the pride felt by the Balinese when showcasing this aspect of the hotel, was obvious. To come in from the bustling street markets or temples and return to Tjampuhan, was like returning to a sanctuary.

The hotel was fantastic but I will admit I have never seen so many stairs in one place. They must make stairs locally there and got a awesome deal. I broke my leg last year and are still hobbling a bit. Locked my self out of my room. Preferred to wait an hour for a cleaner to walk past rather than mountain climb back to the foyer.

Tjampuhan Hotel

Great location - walking distance to sites, good restaurants and small mini-mart across the street. Hotel staff is extremely accommodating. Nestled in a lush forest with beautiful scenery and peaceful surroundings. Only drawback was an ant problem in the hotel room (which staff tried to deal with by spraying daily) and shower that did not drain properly. Rooms could use a bit of updating. Overall, was pleased to be there.

Gorgeous setting

This hotel has got the most beautiful character of all the hotels we have seen and stayed at in Ubud. The hotel is in easy walking distance to the centre of town and after a busy day exploring it is an absolute delight to surround yourself with such beauty and serenity. The staff are extremely helpful and accommodating and all correspondence to and from Australia have been quick and efficient. You will not be disappointed.

I left after one night, I did not enjoy this hotel at all so I went back to Kuta.

Paying $150 a night I would expect nice rooms, not dirty, inspect infested rooms. Very disappointing, and unfortunately this negative view stayed.

The Spa is ok, which increases my rating slightly.

Out of this world!

Tjampuhan. Beautiful place employed by beautiful people. Spiritual place where two rivers meet with unparalleled views. Attention to detail, food, staff and grounds made this a place and an experience I will repeat. Spa treatments along river were amazing! Located in close proximity to shops and restaurants. Tucked away from hussle after a long day in the town of ubud made this hotel very convenient. Many things to do within walking distance.
If visiting this hotel you should be aware that it sits in a river valley on a steep hillside so if stairs are a problem for you, this might not be the place. From a scale of 1-10 I give it a 10.
