The hotel was very clean, modern and beautifully decorated. The staff were very helpful and breakfast was fresh and tasty. We enjoyed the massage and the pool. The only negative was cockroaches appeared in our bathroom at night- they may have come up the drain.

Loved my room, the location and the staff! I loved the size of the hotel and their recommendation to eat at Casa de Tereza! Ate there twice! I had a great massage experience (book a day in advance) and the breakfast that’s included was delicious! It’s a quick walk to the beach!

The front desk and kitchen staff are super friendly and helpful. I travel a lot and work remotely and the number one thing that matters to me is decent WiFi - and they didn’t have WiFi working properly in my room at all.

They offered where I could have a better signal in their lounge are, but I paid to be in the privacy of my room and I work late at night. And the signal was not any better at the lounge either. I ended up leaving a night before my checkout and made reservations elsewhere just so I could work while enjoying my trip.

No refund for not having WiFi working in my room was granted after my request o I realized it was my lost and left peacefully without getting into a debate with anybody.

There are not nearby places to walk around to because the hotel is so far up a hill that you would need an Uber to go to the Main Street.

The bed working staff there are super but don’t expect to have WiFi if you decide to stay at this hotel.

Carnival week in Salvador

The hotel was in a very average neighborhood, and the pictures were definitely deceiving. The hotel is old and worn out, and it does NOT fulfill even remotely the criteria for a 5 star hotel.
The hotel staff and the manager were very responsive and upgraded us to the best room in the hotel that was allegedly recently renovated However, the windows were old and very poorly designed, and allowed for all sorts of noise, including loud music and construction noise coming from right outside the room and started at 7 am! On top of that, it started raining heavily and rain was pouring inside the room through ALL 3 windows!
The internet was very slow and barely functional. The food was average and not available throughout the day (as in other 5 star hotels), but the breakfast server was VERY sweet and took really good care of us.
I do not think I would return to this hotel in the future. The cost of stay, hotel quality and overall experience do not justify another reservation.

Não entendo como esse hotel pode ser classificado como 5 estrelas. A fachada é decadente. Fiquei assustada ao chegar no local. Não só pela fachada inacreditavelmente mal cuidada, como também pela TERRÍVEL localização. O hotel fica praticamente em uma favela, ruas hiper sujas, com muitos moradores de rua, praia com esgoto a céu aberto. A equipe é atenciosa e educada, mas as fotos disponíveis no site e no hotels.com certamente passaram por tratamentos para parecem tão bonitas. Jamais recomendaria

Very lovely facility, feels like 1950s style Cuban architecture, with a great breakfast included in the stay, and a very friendly accommodating staff. Highly recommend, also just a walk to the beach and town square. Loved it!

This is a charming little boutique hotel in the cool part of Salvador. I had no idea when I booked it but it is walking distance to a lot of trendy bars and dining places (Loved our visit to Hidden & Jabu). There is a great rooftop pool and I believe all the windows face the ocean so everyone gets a great view! Breakfast is included and it’s a nice atmosphere and vibe to hang out at the hotel. The hotel team was so kind and friendly, they made the place inviting and pleasant to be at the hotel. The spa/massage was also lovely. Would definitely stay here again.

We loved the fact that this hotel was small and the rooms are unique.

Negatives: The place is a bit run down. Broken glass needs to be replaced around the pool, metal around the pool needs a good polishing, dead dragonflies need to be cleaned out of sconces, and in our room, the bedspread’s threads were all coming loose, and a table was warped with water damage.

Positives: All staff were friendly, the rooms were clean, the breakfast was yummy, the location is great, and the bed was incredibly comfortable.

We would certainly stay here again, but maybe after Covid is over, when they have more $ for updates.

The rooms are comfortable and mine specifically had a great view. The rooftop pool and jacuzzi are also great and you can see a beautiful sunset right at your own hotel. The staff is also excellent and very courteous. The only thing I needed to complete my stay was a gym for a morning stretch or workout. Besides that had a great stay!

O hotel é um charme e tem poucos quartos com linda vista. A Antônia nós fazia sentir em casa, assim como os demais funcionários. Acredito que o hotel pode dar um toque ainda mais aconchegante na decoração dos quartos, o que faria toda a diferença. Uma obra proxima ao meu quarto trouxe ruído desconfortável durante o dia, mas espero que seja uma pequena obra de manutenção para deixar o lugar ainda mais agradável. A praia é logo em frente, a piscina é uma graça e o bairro tem várias opções gastronômicas.

I would definitely recommend, a pleasant place to stay. The location is quiet and is walking distance from great beaches and restaurants.There is a tasty breakfast with many options and the staff are helpful and friendly, always happy to help. There is a rooftop pool which is great to watch sunsets. Overall it’s a nice hotel and is good for anyone who want a break.

This is my favourite hotel in Salvador. More comfortable than the Fasano and the Fera Palace.
It is relaxed and In a good location. The pool on the roof is a real selling point, and it offers a great view. I would like it if they kept the bar open until 11pm at least; 10pm seems a bit early. The people who work here are friendly and welcoming. Unlike for instance the Fasano, the personnel at the Zank seem happy to be here. The Breakfast is excellent. I hope management undertakes the minor repairs that are needed now before they become big problems (e.g. Window Shutters in the original and most interesting part of the hotel) The room prices are creeping up, but still far from the lunacy of the Fasano and more reasonable than the Fera Palace, which has comparable services. My partner and I have stayed here a lot and never met or seen the manager of the property, This is not a problem but seems odd for a small hotel like this.

Quaint property but had no water inside the room, I asked for champagne and romantic service and it was not delivered. Shower cold water was nonfunctional so all that was available was burning hot water. Would stay here again despite these issues. No elevators.

Absolutely beautiful

The hotel was absolutely beautiful and very clean. It’s conveniently located — only about 5-10 minutes walking to the main plaza in Rio Vermelho where there are great bars and restaurants and just a couple minutes to the beach. The staff was incredibly kind and helpful — the best service and sweetest people I met on my trip. Highly recommend!

Amazing 5 day and 4 Night Stay at Zank. The service is impeccable and the restaurant is an gem. The food was surprisingly authentic Brazilian food, and top quality.

The Hotel has this boutique home atmosphere, and the view from the pool deck is mesmerizing. The only con is that WiFi signal is kind of weak. Overall though amazing stay, will recommended to anyone and I will definitely stay at Zank on my next trip to Bahia.

Tranquility at Zank Hotel

The Zank hotel is the bomb! The room was nice w/an excellent view facing Placiencia Beach and everything is super clean! The staff really made it one of my best trips. Everyone was so hospitable and accommodating that I have already decided that I will be returning sometime this year and I will be staying w/them again and I want the same room number. LOL! The hotel is in the Rio Vermelho neighborhood which is very nice. It didn't take long though if I wanted to visit Barra beach or the historical square or Pelourinho area. (approx 20 min to Pelourinho) The room has a safe in it to lock up any valuables and there was a nice hot fresh grilled breakfast every morning! If you encounter Tatiana, Renan, Guillerhme, Adriano, Domingos, Eddie or Alfredo....you're in excellent hands!

Beautiful and cozy small boutique hotel with outstanding breakfast and really nice ammenities. The only thing i would say is that the bed and the room ( double room for 2 people with 2 single beds) were kind of small. After our stay in Rio we really felt the difference. Definitely would go back.

Zank is a boutique hotel located in one of the nicer/up-and-coming neighborhoods of Salvador. The hotel has a chic and sophisticated style and the property is well maintained. It's located close to a lot of restaurants, bars and the beach! The staff were extremely friendly, welcoming and hospitable during out stay.

Pictures of the hotel look way better than reality. Breakfast was very poor and not many options.
Food at the reataruant was very good though. Staff were nice and helpful. The garden was very nice and relaxing. Pool was super small but open 24/7. Room is clean and comfortable.

Fabulous hotel for a romantic night in Salvador

Our stay was fantastic. My wife and I stayed one night in Salvador and when we got to the hotel, we wished that we had more time. The room was AMAZING! We stayed in the old home, which only has 3 rooms. But the entire setup of the hotel including the annex is very well planned and cared for. Breakfast was fantastic and had more options than we had room to try. The kitchen even made us a tapioca. We would recommend this hotel to everyone. It is a jewel! All of the staff was great and they were accommodating to speak English if we needed. I asked for the romantic package and my wife was very surprised. It included rose petals, champagne, a dish of fruits with chocolate, breakfast in the room and a massage for both.

Spectacular spot on the beach in Salvador

Just a spectacularly beautiful hotel with a phenomenal staff. Incredible architecture and so many lovely unique details — from the white hammocks in the little downstairs patio to the mini waterfall pool showers on the roof. The rooftop infinity pool + hot tub with a view of the beach is definitely special. Breakfast was lovely — traditional Bahian fare — and pretty much any information we needed was provided immediately and enthusiastically by the English-speaking staff. Would have been incredibly easy to not leave the hotel grounds at all, but there's a nice little beach across the street and the surrounding neighborhood is lovely. Lots of great street art, if that's your thing, and some nice bars and restaurants within a short walk. Highly recommend!!

Zank is located in a relatively quiet residential area that has some great restaurants and a beach a short walk away. The staff was very nice and helpful in getting taxis when needed. I would definitely stay again!

Comfortable Renovated Rooms

Rooms were renovated, comfortable, and nicely decorated. The location was not ideal - stay closer to the restaurants and old town if you like to walk - however, cabs are pretty inexpensive if need be. The air conditioning for our room was not working and the water was not hot enough. The concierges spoke great English and were very helpful and accommodating. Bartender not so much; he really did not want to make me a mojito. The food was pretty good - for lunch. Decent gym - don't be put off because it's in the basement - nice walkout room with big corner windows with a beach view - they need water and towels though.

We had a relaxing two day stay. The staff is extremely helpful and accommodating. They arranged for an early check-in and late check-out to fit in with our flight times and also helped with a tour of the city, giving us directions and tips on places to go to and places to avoid. The hotel is itself is wonderful, a right balance between chic and historic. Great view of the beach from the room and rooftop pool/jacuzzi. The food (both breakfast and dinner) were delicious. Even the massages we got at their mini spa were great. They have a wonderful reading room with a hammock underneath the coconut trees just outside. It's located on a very steep slope though, and the neighborhood needs you to be a little extra careful at night. But otherwise, a great place to stay.

We have stayed 3 nights and enjoyed everything a boutique hotel can offer. Friendly staff who are there to help you with anything you may need. Even the menu at the restaurant is just a recommendation - they will prepare you anything the way you want (as long as the ingredients are available). Rooms are modern and comfortable.
The hotel is in a neighborhood (Rio Vermhilo) a few minutes walk from restaurant, bars, clubs and a nice beach. Will definitely stay there again. Very good value for money

If you want to tear your hair out stay at this hotel.Service is appalling.If you eat in the restaurant be prepared to wait one hour before your food arrives...and it will be cold...and not what you ordered.This hotel is a bad joke.The best part about the hotel....is leaving it. Its run for gullible tourists who expect chic ...which they get visually....but there is nothing boutique or class about the service.

I stayed here for a couple nights recently. The hotel is very beautiful and they keep the grounds very nice and clean. The top deck pool area is small but very pretty with great views. They put out a lovely breakfast each morning and everyone on the staff is friendly. The surrounding neighborhood is questionable though. To be fair, I didn't have much time to explore as I was only staying at the Zank on my first night in Bahia, then went elsewhere for the week, then stayed again on my last night. I was expecting to be able to walk out of the hotel and be near more shops and restaurants and it's not really like that. The surrounding buildings look run down, the Zank is the nicest thing within blocks. They do make a great Capriana... I'd recommend a few of those on the roof top and you will be happy!

Nos hospedamos no Zank por apenas uma noite durante o Carnaval e foi tudo excelente. Fomos muito bem recebidos. O hotel é lindo, num prédio histórico e num bairro muito agradável. A apenas poucas quadras fomos tomar banho na Praia da Paciência, na volta fizemos uma excelente massagem e um late check out. Só temos a agradecer a excelente experiência que o hotel nos proporcionou. Espero poder retornar para mais dias.

Zank hotel is a real 5 star hotel with great service and a comfortable atmosphere. It is small and thus feels exclusive. Unfortunately there is a new building under construction in front of parts of the hotel that block view to the sea. Make sure you get room at the end of hotel to get sea view. For sure i will stay here again.

Bem ao lado (colado mesmo) do hotel há um prédio em construção, isso não foi informado, e as fotos tb não foram atualizadas. Essa obra obstruiu parte de vista e tornou absolutamente inviável a utilização da piscina, por causa da total ausência de privacidade, além de provocar muito barulho a partir das 8h da manhã, impossível dormir nesse horário, nos dias úteis. Estivemos de um sábado à tarde até uma quarta pela manhã, só podemos utilizar a piscina no sábado e no domingo.
Além da questão do barulho e da proximidade com a obra, o hotel não parece ter uma política de silêncio para suas instalações, ouve-se o tempo inteiro pessoas falando muito alto, hóspedes e funcionários, além do arrastar descuidado de móveis e carrinhos de limpeza. Claramente não há uma preocupação em solicitar a todos um comportamento mais silencioso e educado, que valorize o silêncio e o descanso. A equipe é gentil e solícita e o café da manhã é servido até às 11h e a la carte, o que sem dúvida é um ponto positivo. Os quartos e a decoração das áreas comuns são bonitas e confortáveis, embora a área da piscina já reclame uma renovação. Mas além do problema do barulho, há falhas na limpeza, o trilho da porta de vidro do box do banheiro do nosso quarto estava muito sujo, as partes de vidro dos quartos e da áreas comuns estavam embaçadas, manchadas e com marcas de mãos (especialmente as da parede que separa o restaurante da área externa que leva aos quartos do térreo).Em razão do preço da diária, não compensa.

Hôtel très agréable et particulièrement bien situé. Les chambres sont agréables, le petit déjeuner est varié et complet et notre coup de cœur : le personnel est absolument charmant!

3 petits bémols : le bâtiment dans lequel se situent les chambres date un peu, la piscine est vraiment très petite (plutôt un point d'eau qu'une piscine, mais vous avez la plage juste à côté) et la construction d'un nouveau bâtiment juste à côté fait que la belle vue sur la mer est un peu obstruée. Mais globalement, une très bonne expérience!

O hotel é muito bem localizado, embora haja uma obra ao lado que inviabiliza a estadia durante o dia. Felizmente, à noite não há barulho e o descanso é tranquilo. As camas são extremamente confortáveis e os móveis têm um estilo bonito, com atmosfera de pousada boutique.

O atendimento é excelente, assim como a simpatia dos funcionários. A limpeza, entretanto, deixou a desejar: havia bastante poeira no quarto, especialmente embaixo da cama, e os boxes do banheiro precisariam de maior atenção, tanto na higienização quanto na manutenção do fluxo da água. O café da manhã foi o ponto mais fraco da experiência, extremamente abaixo do esperado.

Outro detalhe é o uso do nome “Toque”, que pode induzir comparação com outro padrão da pousada e, na prática, trata-se de algo diferente.

Apesar dessas observações, acredito que seja a melhor opção da região e voltaria a me hospedar. Torço para que melhorem e não desistam do lugar, como eu achei, pois o potencial é enorme.

Não vale o preço. Travesseiros mal cheirosos, baratas no banheiro, não se enquadra em hotel boutique e é no máximo 3 estrelas. O atendimento é bom, os funcionários também. Café da manhã bem simples.
