It done what needed to be done, in which we had a comfy bed, tv and bathroom. Nothing spectacular however you don’t spend much time in the room. However the only issues we had, were the bathroom door had a dent/hole in the wood as if someone had punched it and the bathroom door would not lock. A pillow which was on the bed had a hole in the cover but nothing major.

The hotel was clean and modern; the carpet looked new and the bed was comfortable. The room was quite small - we could only put one of our suitcases in the main area as that’s all that would fit, the 2nd suitcase had to go in the entry way of the room. The shower came complete with a squeegee for what we assumed was for the floor, as there was no separation between the shower floor and the main floor of the bathroom, so the water pooled everywhere and needed to be squeegeed towards the drain.
The view of the canal was fantastic and the staff were super friendly and helpful. We were only there for one night so it was perfectly fine, but a lengthier stay in such a small space might’ve been a bit of a challenge.

Clean comfy canalside hotel was a joy to stay at!

We chose this hotel for the affordable room rate and the location, along the picturesque Singel Canal, just a 10-minute walk from the train station (an easy ride to and from the airport). Arriving mid-morning, we were able to drop our luggage at the hotel until 2pm check-in time. To enter the hotel, walk down the stairs to the front door. There is 24/7 front desk service; everyone we encountered from drop-off to check-in to check-out was friendly and helpful. We felt most welcome here! A small lobby shop is available for drinks and bites and necessities. Our 3rd floor room was accessible by both elevator and stairs. Our room was compact but spacious enough that we could easily move around. A shelf running along the outside wall provided plenty of room to stow our bags and keep things handy during our stay. Our bed was comfy. We had a window for fresh air and natural light and street noise (not necessarily a bad thing!). We really enjoyed walking \"home\" to our hotel at all times of day!

I liked the location of the hotel. It was convenient, but pretty quiet, so that was nice. We had a canal view which was great, but it would have been nice to be able to fully open the windows. We asked for fresh towels and never got them. The beds were comfortable and it was nice they provided a fan and the curtains made the room very dark at night.

This is your average European hotel with rooms on the smaller size. We chose this hotel based on the location which was walkable from the train station. Expedia listed the room with a much larger size than what we found upon arrival. Sadly this was not a great start to our first visit to Amsterdam. Even the staff acknowledged that the Expedia post was not accurate.
The afternoon staff was so kind and helpful and was able to arrange the same room layout that had a bit more space(not much but a bit better) for us to move to. There is an elevator in the building. Canal views were so so. It was very close to a restaurant which made breakfast, lunch and an afternoon drink. They did have breakfast for a fee as an option.
Showers had a bit of fluctuation in temperature and the layout was a wet shower in which the entire bathroom floor was wet.
Again this is an old building. Air conditioning was not able to be used as evidently the government does not allow it this early which was what we were told.
While this was a cute place with nice staff, would likely choose another option if we find ourselves in Amsterdam again.

This was such a lovely place to stay! I had never been to Amsterdam before and was trying to find something nice (and affordable) for my partner’s birthday the weekend we were there. This hotel is in such a good spot- close enough to the red light district but not too close, and adjacent to some really lovely areas. The staff were so kind too- when we had an issue with our bathroom they came to fix it straight away with no issue and on my partners birthday put a bottle of champagne and cake in the room!!! It was absolutely fantastic and if (when) we come to Amsterdam again, we will absolutely book to stay here again.

Very unique property
Difficult to find the entrance - but it felt like a fun little secret once we found it. Staff was super friendly and efficient.
We got the junior suite and the large wheel hanging from the ceiling was difficult to navigate around - we hit our heads on it repeatedly.
The shower is amazing and the bed was very comfortable. The location is ideal.
Overall, we really enjoyed it!

This hotel is an easy 10 minute walk from the train station, making it very convenient. It is on a quiet street facing a canal and it is close to many restaurants. The room was very clean and the beds were comfortable. The bathroom was clean and had a blow dryer. We had a canal view room with 3 twins and it was a good size. The window facing the canal was tiny, though. We had to stand on our toes and lean over to see the canal. The room’s tv also enabled you to log into your Netflix account, which was nice. It was clean and in a very safe area with great train station accessibility.

It was just ok. Very convenient with walking distance from the Centraal Station. Very friendly staff and accomodating. However, the rooms are VERY small.

As a solo business traveler (carryon only), I would probably not stay here again because I barely had room to store my bag. I would have no idea how someone with a larger bag or even 2 people could stay in 1 room.

It also was very hot, no A/C, fan didn't do much. No bars on the window so couldn't leave the window open over night as anyone could've just jumped in.

Bed was comfortable however 1 pillow case was dirty. Shower in room flooded the bathroom so had entire stay using bathroom in water.

Overall for the location and staff this is an ok hotel but if I had any other choice, I probably won't stay here again.

Very conveniently located in the center of Amsterdam, close to the train station, but in a quiet area so you can have a good night sleep. Note : single rooms are really tiny, so don't plan to spend too much time in the room, and the mattresses are soft, which can be a problem if you have a sensitive back (like me). Breakfast is very good, and the staff very friendly and keen to help.

It's a fine hotel but nothing more. Service was just okay, the location is good and in a quiet place, but the noise within the hotel and between the rooms is quite bothersome. The European Union is not allowing travelers from the US due to COVID. This hotel would not allow me to change my reservation until next year. I was not asking for my money back, in fact, they have had it for nine months. They simply said \"No\". I am our $1901 for a five night's stay. I won't be staying with them when I go next year.

Very good experience .. check in and out was a quick breeze.. a special thanks to the nice lady (i forgot her name .. so sorry) she helped me out and suggested to have a nice hot drink at check out as it was down pouring outside .. the air conditioning was a bit loud considering i was on the 4th floor but you get used to it.. very convenient spot to get around the city it is centrally located and yet feels quiet and very safe .. i’d definitely come and stay again there next time !!

My wife and I are retires on a fixed retirement income. We had a bucket list trip planned to Ireland, Scotland, Belgium and the Netherlands, places we have never been before. We had to cancel our trip due to the pandemic and the closure of the EU borders to US travelers. There is no good things to say about this hotel as the management only cares about itself and there is no such thing as customer service. We were not able to visit during April because of Covid19 and were denied of refund or even a voucher (we wanted to come back so we are ok changing the dates). We are reasonable people and understand it’s hard on everyone but the hotel management was not only unresponsive for most the time and there is no care from their end for customers. I would not recommend booking ever to anyone. We will not come back to this hotel. Every bit of this review is true.

The location was excellent. Great front desk staff. However, the condition and size of room was very disappointing. There was a stale and stagnant scent in the room, which was unpleasant, and no ventilation in the bathroom. While the beds and furniture were clean, when we looked up at the ceiling, the light fixture was very dusty and we could see cobwebs. They also crammed 3 beds into the room but there was no space to move around or even store our 3 small sized suitcases. Just an overall disappointing room to stay in.

We had a canal view room on the first floor, which was small even by Amsterdam standards and subject to a disturbing amount of street noise. The walls between rooms seemed thin so sounds from neighbouring rooms were also quite audible. The bathroom was very basic with a shower with just a drain in the floor and a cheap shower curtain, so the floor had to be mopped up after every use. The bed was also uncomfortable with two saggy soft single mattresses pushed together to act as a queen. On the positive side, staff were pleasant and the location is convenient to many city attractions.

Absolutely amazing staff and beautiful little hotel. Great location and amazing coffee every morning. If you’re after a central location to stay in Amsterdam I highly recommend this location. The Singel Hotel is mainly as advertised and normally there are no major surprises.

However, there is one critical issue that the Singel Hotel will not ever mention. All rooms facing the railway station overlook a nice secluded patio area that is even fenced off from the street, creating a pleasant atmosphere. What the hotel will not tell you is that the Renaissance Hotel next door owns this space and they use it with a special indoor space for special events or parties. That is what we had to experience on our first night – a band/disco with dozens of party goers that go outside to the patio to drink, smoke, talk, laugh and make all other types of noise. And some were standing literally right outside of our window until well after 3:00 AM.

The various hotel desk staff that we spoke to provided various excuses, with some expressing surprise or saying they were doing all they could by calling the hotel in the night. However, the Singel Hotel will always have this noise problem, as the Renaissance Hotel will always use their property for their customers’ purposes. The clincher to our dilemma was when one of the hotel desk clerks suggested that “we should not ever come to a city that allows smoking, drinking and partying in late night hours, including outside”. If the hotel had disclosed that there could be such loud noise from events next door, then we would have never stayed there.

And beware: they take your money when you check in, not when you check out, so no refunds!

Location is superb for getting around the centre of the city, it give the feeling of an Amsterdam vibe, the canal, people,restaurants, pubs and train station is all so close by. A thoroughly wonderful hotel. Very modern and clean. The staff are super helpful. The location is great, being close to the heart of Amsterdam, yet it's surprisingly quiet on a night outside.

I want to visit Amsterdam again, and this will be my hotel of choice.

Tiny room with sloped ceiling. Could not walk around bed without crouching. Tiny bathroom - knees were up against opposite wall when sitting on toilet

The included breakfast as advertised on Expedia.com was not included. It was extra, but because it was advertised, the manager comped one for a credit of 15 Euros. No air conditioning, but a quiet, open window cooled us down. The location was wonderfully close to the center of town. The room was on the first floor and there was a lift. The bed was comfortable. We arrived early from the cruise, but the manager allowed us to leave our baggage there until later and put the bags in the room after check-in time before we returned from a tour. Check-in and check-out was a breeze.

Great location and friendly staff. Sorry to say we could every door slam on our floor and there was no air conditioning. There were no window screens so we were left with an oscillating fan to to deal with the stuffiness and warm temperature of our room.
