The Sandaway is a very peaceful and relaxing place to stay. We chose to stay there while attending the Waterfowl Festival in Easton. Oxford is a quiet town and we enjoyed coming back to the Sandaway to relax and watch the sunset over the river. We also loved the antique furniture in the common areas, as well as in our room. We had a room on the second floor with a porch overlooking the river. One night, it was fairly mild, so we kept the door open so we could hear the waves washing up to the shore. The owners are very nice and helpful, and work hard to ensure their guests are happy. We will definitely come back to stay here.

The resort itself is very nice; quiet, peaceful, and in a great location. The internet was in and out for our stay which made it hard to watch TV and do other things. That said the owner Ben did help get the issue resolved to the best of his ability and provided a late checkout to make up for the issue. All in all the resort accomplished it's goal for us of peace and relaxation.

Very quiet, off the beaten path kind of place. It was a bit pricey on a long weekend, but we had a wonderfully leisure time there. Wild rabbits were running on the lawns, so cute! The inn keepers were attentive and gave us a few \"care packages\", we also loved the cucumber soap. The only downside is the lack of food choices in town, I think with this location it may have been a good thing to pay extra for breakfast on site.

Loved the water view, walkability to the quaint village of Oxford, and proximity to the ferry. The room was very spacious, clean, quiet, and comfortable. Coffee, Keurig, cream, and sugars were provided, along with a spacious refrigerator. A treat bag with snacks and seltzer drinks was provided upon check-in, which was very smooth and easy. Unfortunately, most stores and eating options were closed Monday and Tuesday. No breakfast was offered other than walking into the village for a breakfast sandwich and/or yogurt for an extra charge. The rooms are very pricey and I would like a decent breakfast included within that price.

We really enjoyed our stay at the Sandaway. It was quiet and peaceful in a wonderful spot, right on the water, next to the yacht club. We loved walking around Oxford, a quaint and historic little town. A quick strolling over to the Market for breakfast sandwiches and the Social Cafe for great espresso based coffees and pastries.

Contactless check-in was a breeze. Having prepaid, we found our designated parking spot, went to our room and our key was in the lock. Complimentary water bottles and goodies thoughtfully welcomed us. Our “room” turned out to be a suite with full kitchen, sitting area and two TVs.

The feel of the place, the bathroom etc, is pretty rustic and dated, but that didn’t bother us at all. It felt appropriate to the feel of the lovely town.

Sandaway was the perfect 3 night stay for my husband and me. The room was beautiful, the sheets and bed was luxurious, and the views of the water in our screened in porch was fantastic.
The owners couldn't do enough for us. The communication was great and they left plenty of snacks and coffee which was appreciated. I asked for a few more towels and it was delivered to our door within minutes. We will definitely stay again. Thank you Gibson Family!!

Getaway to Sandaway

I took a solo trip and picked the perfect spot. This family owned inn is great for a family trip, a romantic getaway, or for a quiet escape by yourself. The owners are such a welcoming family and made me feel very like VIP. I will be going back and recommend Sandaway to anyone looking for that getaway in the Eastern Shore. What a wonderful place !So many extras made it feel like home …. Extra trash cans in the room and 2 in the bathroom!… lots of chairs outside and special hammock like chairs on the porch! So many nice touches … lots of lamps on the room … nice … the only downside was NO BREAKFASTS! When we pay $ 300 a night we expect breakfast … and the place the owner told us we could go and buy breakfast was closed the whole time we were there for 3daus! Just a little continental breakfast would have made this perfect

Absolutely beautiful!! Perfect setting for a quiet getaway. Loved the room. Quaint but spacious. Had all the amenities and lots of privacy. We had our own screened in porch. The welcome gift pack on arrival was such a nice touch. There is not much to do in the town and the few restaurants were closed. But we found a little market and made do. The employees were super friendly. A beautiful town for a nice walk or bike ride. Overall a great place to stay for a quiet getaway.

This place on on the Tred Avon River with great views and across the street from the Robert Morris Inn, which has good food. It is dated and probably a two and half star hotel without the view and a 3 star with the view.

The views of the river were fantastic. This is a great place for outdoor enthusiasts and ideal for someone who has a boat. It’s very quiet and peaceful. The “private beach area”’shown in the brochure is not as large/wide as the photo. There is a larger beach area a short distance from the property. Be prepared to drive to another nearby town for meals. There was only one restaurant. I did not eat there. St. Michael’s and Easton were my “go to” areas for dinner. Overall, I enjoyed the stay.

Great B&B on the Chesapeake

We had a wonderful stay this past weekend. It was our 20th wedding anniversary and upon check-in the owner, Wendy, included a little gift for us. Sandaway is a gem tucked away on the Chesapeake. The grounds are beautiful and we enjoyed our mornings and sunsets out by the beach. Very close to many things to do. And the accommodations were very quaint and exactly what we were looking for. Plenty of space and gorgeous scenery!
There is a lot of history there as well.

I really didn’t want to leave. This had to be one of the most serene, relaxing experiences I’ve ever had. Sandaway is perfect for those who want to get away from the noise and crowds. Room 100 was spacious, with a luxuriously comfortable mattress and huge bathroom. There was no noise from the other guests. The morning breakfast basket was cute. However, if you want a hot breakfast, try the Robert Morris Inn - just a short walk away.

Walking into our room my first thought was this reminds me of an old Maine house we used to rent. However, I warmed up to it when we enjoyed our own screened porch, the lovely waterfront seating and the fabulous bed with wonderful sheets. That made it all good!

Beware of booking through this site. We have stayed at the Sandaway in the past so we knew what we were getting; so we thought. When I booked this at a high rate for pre-season I was shown two available rooms at that price, one of which we had stayed in in the past and located on the top floor. Both advertised rooms were acceptable top floor rooms at the extra price but we got neither. With what seemed a total of three guests we were given a small cottage room off to the side of the main house and really not worth the price.

Oxford is a great town and made our 35th Anniversary a special time. We can’t say in words how wonderful our experience was. The Sandaway made our trip even better. We booked a room in the main part of the house and were pleasantly surprised when they upgraded us to the perfect cottage. We didn’t ask they just did it on their own.
We recommend the Sandaway if you want a quiet getaway on a beautiful property. The staff was accommodating in every fashion without being overbearing. Thanks for making our trip memorable.

The Sandaway was the perfect 2 day retreat for us. The relaxed, yet impeccable property was everything we hoped for. Although a hot breakfast is not included - they provide an exceptional basket every morning filled with fresh, warm pastry/breads, fruit, yogurt, granola, coffee, juice and more! The staff is friendly and professional. We loved that we could walk everywhere and the food and staff at all of the restaurants are exceptional.

My wife and I rode the Bellevue-Oxford ferry and Sandaway is steps from the Oxford landing. Rooms were clean and comfortable. Great Adirondack chairs on the lawn area along the waterfront, good place for a picnic and a glass of wine to the sound of the lapping waves. Breakfast is a choice of a delivered basket or a discount at the nearby Robert Morris Inn.
