I was so excited to stay in L'Hotel during our visit to Paris, and I was able to book the Oscar Wilde suite which was even more exciting. First, I must address the elephant in the room. I booked the room for 5 nights. 60 days before my arrival (10 months after my booking was confirmed) I received a notification from the hotel that they accidentally double booked the room for 2 of the nights and I will only be able to have the room for 3 nights. This put me in a terrible position as I now needed to book a new hotel with only 60 days notice in Paris during the Paralympics which meant rates were much much higher than 10 months prior when I made my original booking. Deep breaths. L'Hotel discounted my rate 20% which helped with the very high rate I paid elsewhere for the 2 nights. That being said, L'hotel is very Parisian, very beautiful. Only 20 rooms and it has an elegant boutique feel. The suite is GORGEOUS with a HUGE terrace. However, the musty smell in the room is so strong that it woke me up several times during the night. Yes, it's that strong. Also, the lighting is very dim. On-site hotel staff is extremely professional, and they helped us arrange taxis and restaurant bookings with ease. The cocktail lounge is lovely and a great spot to end the night. Location is perfect. Quiet street but very close to everything. It's very safe in the 6th and it's an artsy vibe.

Worth a short stay, for historic connections.

This is a small luxury hotel in rue des Beaux-Arts where Oscar Wilde stayed (and died).

It is charming and historic but as a result the rooms are very small and do not have the easy comforts of a more modern hotel.

For example, there is very limited cupboard space. Also the bathrooms are old fashioned, with a rather awkward hand held \"shower over bathtub\" arrangement. The bath was also very high with a wide lip which made it awkward to climb into and required great care not to slip.

That said it was fun to stay for a couple of days and the staff were friendly and helpful.

Generous breakfast and nice public rooms.

Nice Friendly staff. Here on a 3 day stay with my daughter. Room service not great, we ordered chicken with mustard sauce, it came in a small bowl, Microwaved food by the waiter, but still cold, and a store bought chocolate dessert., 52 Euros. We ordered a separate German bed, it wasn’t there. Eggs Benedict for breakfast was terrible, a slice of bread , ham, badly poached egg and a small bowl of congealed/split sauce, certainly not Eggs Benedict. It’s very obvious this hotel doesn’t have a chef and relies on waiters reheating food. Shower flooded bathroom. No TV in rooms, when asked I was told this is the new style of room. Pool dirty and needs cleaning, smells quite bad. Lots of dirt on the pool walls and ladder. Still, charming hotel, but does rely on the Connection with Oscar Wilde for bookings. The staff are what makes this hotel and they work hard. The food is a big let down.

Great location; I can imagine this was once a great stay, however, rooms are a little tired and the bathroom is in need of updating (eg, mixer tap on bath to have a shower, but couldn’t direct the water, so it dribbled from shower head and tap)…not the biggest issue in the world but certainly not a 5* experience.
Evening Bar and cocktails great.
Breakfast forgettable and service very slow, waited 10mins for a member of staff to order a coffee.

Wonderful location in the arts district. 4 minute walk to the Sein river. Lots of close restaurants and shops. The property is beautiful, rooms aren’t huge but are spacious enough. Bathrooms are big and well appointed.

Staff was super helpful and accommodating. Included breakfast for a higher rate was well worth it.

Be aware that there is an extra city tax not included in the Expedia rate.

We visited for our wedding anniversary and would absolutely stay here again- great experience!

Unfortunately this property has seen better days. It’s just flat out old with zero modernization at all. Musty smell echoes throughout the hotel and the amenities are just really poor. We stayed in their biggest room L’apartment and for $1100 a night it’s just not worth the price with other options available. Advertised a king bed, it’s a queen. Shower is so small you can barely fit in it and filled with grout, the second vanity sink is literally the worst sink I’ve ever seen in a hotel, carpet peeling up from the floor. Just a really disappointing place that’s seen much better days.

The hotel building is of exceptional beauty and charm. It oozed charm from every corner. Cleanliness and service were perfect. The aircon unfortunately was not working properly to the point of as if it was nonexistent we had to open the window and the staff helped with bringing a fan which helped a bit in this year’s the heat of August in Paris. The room was a bit on the small size and the bar fridge was so small and was inside a cabinet that made the entire place hot. The highlight that we were waiting for was the Turkish Hammam which was not working but we were not told that it was not working when we booked to use it , a cold Turkish Hammam ??!!!

The hotel needs a major renovation. The rooms are small, dark, and heavily draped. The common rooms downstairs were the same…heavy drapes, small alcoves, leopard carpeting. Our small bedroom didn’t have enough space to open two suitcases without tripping over them. The decor was dark red paint, red wallpaper and a heavy, oversized gold mirror with huge 3D cherubs extending out over the head of the bed. Creepy.

L'Hotel is like a vacation within a vacation; the rooms designed by Jacque Garcia took me into another place and time, with a Parisian attitude. I stayed in the Marco Polo suite and felt like I could really understand how he would see the exoticness of Asia (the mix of East and West). It was a very special experience!!

The Apartment is a great room to rent, very special. Unfortunately it's on the 6th floor and the only elevator was either out of service or had problems each of our three day stay. Staff was not helpful in this regard, there were also many other issues they need to address for this to be a five star or better hotel. The location is great, but to my disappointment I will not stay there unless again.

We found the hotel to be very under-maintained. Our room was musty smelling (carpet, drapes) and the carpet seemed dirty. Room was so classically decorated but it felt uncomfortable due to the smell/old condition. On the last night, the smell of cigarette smoke in our room was unbearable (my mother and me woke up with sore throats).

We didn't generally sleep well at this hotel (it was hot, thermostat didn't really work.) We made an effort to spend as little time as possible in the room, which is fine for Paris, although we did need some rest.

We stayed 3 nights. We were missing some toiletry items in the room and after asking for 2 days were able to get them for the last day. Mini bar (water, coffee) nor bathroom (washcloths, small toiletries) were restocked on last day's housekeeping visit. Phone in room did not work which made it necessary to go downstairs if anything was needed. When I did go downstairs, the front desk staff was always delightful. We found out at check out that they just reopened; perhaps this is what's going on here...

The breakfast was nice and staff were lovely (bar staff in the evenings were great too). Lobby bar is very pleasant and lavishly appointed, which made the stay better. Overall, our stay was mediocre and we expected much more from a 5-star property with a pricy nightly rate. I wouldn't stay here again given the current condition of the property. I wish we would have stayed elsewhere for our short time in Paris.

Beautifully designed sumptuous property with full service amenities, literally everything you could ever think to forget in the bathroom just in case so no need to call the staff! Le Bar had lovely inventive drinks and a romantic hidden atmosphere. The reception tram was excellent prior to and upon arrival with helping to arrange transfers and tourist info. The location is excellent and walkable to many cafes and monuments. Highly recommend and will stay again.

NOT A 5 STAR Hotel. Government Bestowed Rating.

We Checked Out of the hotel within 20 minutes upon checking into the hotel at around 2am in the early morning. We could not even stand to spend the evening in the room and have breakfast (which we paid for in full) as room was unsanitary.

From the moment you enter the corridors you can smell the aged moulded carpets.

This is not a 5 start establishment on any level from quality of the rooms going up to the guest service. It's just government bestowed 5 star.

Also, hotel management is not ethical by trying to take charge for 1 nights deposit.

Nevertheless we made it to the Sofitel later on the evening and were glad to be out of the vicinity.

We called the hotel to ask for ethical full refund but they just refunded 1 night without acknowledging to upgrade or improve their facilities.

I've had better experiences in 3 star B&B hotels like Embassy Suites in the US then this establishment in Paris.

Location is great and staff was excellent. L'Hotel is an \"artful\" boutique hotel close to the Seine river in Saint Germain des Pres.
We only stayed only one night on our back to Canada. We love the area, having stayed there many times before. The bed were extremely comfortable but the standard rooms a little small. Breakfast was wonderful in the yard by the fountain.
Would stay there again but not during fashion week when prices go through the roof>

We have stayed at L’Hotel many times, and it is one of the best hotels in which we have ever visited. The decor, the location, the charm and feeling of luxury that surrounds you is wonderful, but the one thing that stands out and creates that feeling of luxury is the fabulous staff. This was a small boutique style French hotel in a beautiful section of Paris. I think it only had 20 rooms, but it was great! My only complaint was that the room was a little small, but every other aspect of the hotel more than made up for it. I highly recommend it to anyone staying in Paris.

L’Hotel is our new favorite place! We loved spending time in the private pool and steam room. The room was wonderful, with an excellent bathtub and bath bubbles. FRONT DESK: There is virtually no check-in process. No one explained the amenities of the hotel and no one asked after check-in if we were happy with our room. There were no umbrellas available for us to borrow as we were leaving to explore Paris in the rain.

GENERAL: The decor, which online looks unique and different, is - frankly - bizarre. When we first stepped into the room there was a powerful and alarming smell of formaldehyde. This seemed to be something to do with mitigating the moldy/dusty aromas trapped in the acres of fabric covering everything from the bed headboard canopy to the walls. Paintwork everywhere was chipped and the lights in the corridors buzz and flicker like in Count Dracula's castle. The lift is comically tiny and also completely clad in smelly fabric.

ROOMS: The rooms are absolutely tiny and the awkward layouts required to position them around the circular central stairwell makes them hard to navigate around (I am 5'8\"). A weird arrangement of light switches means that it is impossible to turn on the bathroom lights without waking up your partner by also turning on the main bedroom lights. A multi-outlet extension cable was dangling half way along the diagonal stretch between the socket and the nespresso-like machine balanced atop a chest of drawers. The bed squeaked. The TV didn't work. The AC was not adjustable and the room was too hot at night. The bad smell never dimmed.

Great personal service in reception and the bar. Unfortunately the restaurant was closed during our short stay.

Great location, greater ambience

Short walk to the Seine, and to the better cafés on the Boulevard St Germaine. And it’s so relaxing to come back to L’Hotel. How do they manage opulence and homeliness at the same time? Book the hammam for an hour of indulgence.

Great staff..they were very helpful .the location is great. The hotel needs an update. It is a little worn out. The towels were really old worn out.!!! For a five star hotel, they should change the towels more often. The breakfast was not that good, don’t waste your money paying for it with your room booking.

Awesome charm and quiet location

I found the location to be ideal to move around by foot and it is just tucked away from the busy streets. Staff are superb. The hotel is Parisian so do not expect USA / Texas size rooms. But do expect a wonderful experience and time in paris!
