I recently had the pleasure of staying at the Old Faithful Inn, and I must say it's a true gem. The moment I walked in, I was greeted by the warm and inviting atmosphere, complete with a stunning log lobby and massive stone fireplace.

The room was updated and had everything I needed, and the food selection at the on-site restaurant was great at reasonable prices. But what truly made my stay special was the quick access to Old Faithful geyser - I watched it erupt multiple times without having to change my plans.

My only surprise was the low ratings, but I believe it's because people have different expectations. For me, the experience was well worth it, and I'd highly recommend staying here.

The property and building are beautiful. Staff was nice, and tried to help. However, the lodge is constantly busy with tourists walking through, old faithful times are not always updated, and the heat in the room was unbearable. Apparently if the temperature outside drops to a certain point, the heater automatically runs on high. It was suggested to open the window, even though we were a bit concerned about safety, being on the ground floor. All meals are buffet. We did dinner twice, the hosts were awesome. Food was pretty good, but sometimes you have to wait in the buffet line for like 15 minutes. There is no wifi at all, and no television. Glad we were able to experience it, but will stay elsewhere next time.

Chose to stay at the lodge while we toured Yellowstone. Thought it would be more convenient but I quickly regretted it. Paid $500/night for horrible conditions. Very few dining options. In the lodge for dinner they only offered a buffet at $50/person. Food was mid, edible but not worth $50. So many people visit the park so it makes sense that a buffet is the best way to get everyone fed but don’t expect anything great. For breakfast, we skipped the buffet but there weren’t really any other options. Asked an employee and there was one option for hot breakfast sandwiches (similar to a gas station) but they were all out when we went. Other people in line got hot dogs/chili dogs for breakfast (it was 10 am so it was quite comical).

The room itself was horrible. The baseboards were dirty and it was very utilitarian. No fridge, AC, microwave, or TV (no WiFi, but my data worked just fine here). They had a radiant heater that clanged and was loud all night. No way to turn it off, we called the front desk and they said nothing could be done. It literally sounded like somebody banging on metal pipes. Sometimes it was quieter but randomly it would get really loud. Made it hard to sleep because it would wake me up in a panic. I could hear the person in the next room snoring. Knob was broken on the sink so we couldn’t use hot water. Staff overall were friendly and helpful, no complaints there. The location made it convenient for visiting, but I would stay outside the park next time.

Returning after 70 years-=memories, but a lot of changes, excellent room overlooking Old Faithful geyser, not a lot of food options as they were close to closing and food prices were very, very high (not what was shown on websites) and quality of buffet not up to price paid but we did our bucket list trip and were grateful for good weather

It would be best for those who prioritize historical charm and atmosphere.

This review is for the hotel only. Park was great but the Inn was awful. No parking. No room service. No Wi-Fi, no TV, no fridge, no microwave - they call this being sustainable. Radiators for heat produced knocking sound making it hard to sleep. Sound proofing between rooms - nonexistent which also affected our sleep. General store was closed - bottled water at gift shop was very expensive. All nice seating around the big fireplace and main lobby got filled quickly evening time so we couldn't enjoy it (we had 4 people). Signs around the park and the Inn were terrible. Composite walks around the geysers were dangerously slippery when wet - why not just keep using wood? We only ate dinner and lunch around the hotel - food was overpriced and low quality. Hard to make dinner reservation at the Inn for the time you want and 40-50 min wait at Snow Lodge.

Bottom line - only good thing about the Inn was the location and the looks of the hotel. The management gets so many people each year that they don't really care about your experience. They know that most people would not come back - it's a classic tourist trap.

However, the exorbitant price of our standard room did not fit the realities of the accommodations, which were run down, dirty, and basic to say the very least. The Inn itself is beautifully unique, but the stay was disappointing overall.

I was really disappointed with the check-in experience. Every time I asked, I was told it would be “just another 30 minutes,” but after more than three hours of waiting, it still wasn’t ready. If it’s going to take that long, why not just be honest and say it’s busy and will take a few hours? Or offer to call when it’s ready. Instead, I had to keep checking back every half hour and waste my time waiting around when I could’ve gone out to do something else. Very frustrating and poorly managed.

The property is beautiful and conveniently located. However, thay only had one option for dinning, buffet. Service at the buffet was not the best. Staff took a long time to attend to the table. The line was long to get the food, and options were very limited. Food and drink were expensive. We stayed the last weekend of the season and they didn’t clean our room during our 4 night stay. When I called the front desk, I was told they didn’t have room cleaning service because it was the last weekend of the season, very unprofessional and unacceptable answer. In addition, there was no Wifi, internet, or call service in the entire property. No TV either, which wasn’t important for me. However, internet and call are important, specially in such remote area. This however is probably the prettiest and most conveniently located property of all the hotels inside the park in my opinion.

The history is cool but I think going in summer and camping would offer a better experience.

Pretty outdated, No wifi, and limited dining options. The coffee bar and adult beverage bar on the second floor is the best place to watch Old Faithful though. For a room, I would highly recommend staying at the Old Faithful Snow Lodge just across the parking lot instead. It is modern, has a nicer restaurant, and has internet too.

Terrible! Staff was not welcoming! Elevator smelled bad! We had 2 rooms. One door jammed. TVs don’t work. Lights burnt out. ONLY ONE SET OF TOWELS. Phone didn’t work. HVAC moldy. NO toilet paper in one room. Breakfast was disgusting. Overheard a guest say they wouldn’t feed it to their dog.

It’s an old building so I understand plumbing and rooms may be outdated but rooms mainly the flooring , pillows, linens and beds desperately need a revamp. We really didn’t sleep well the three nights we stayed however keep in mind location and staff were excellent. Few good food options was also a downside but the location and nightly concerts in lobby were enjoyable

Made the reservation in August. Checked in after 4:00PM. Took my credit card for incidentals then told me my room wasn’t ready.
I was told about a half hour. After checking with the front desk hourly, with Peter, I went to the manager, Stacy. I said three hours is my limit. Oh. You room was booked through Expedia. I asked if that was bad. She said no, but you will receive a credit for waiting three hours to check in. She said because it was booked through Expedia, the credit would come through Expedia. I will be waiting for a response within 5 business days.

Was expecting this place to be a bit over touristy, old and dusty, but was pleasantly suprised. We stayed in the actual Inn, with shared shower and toilets, which we were concerned about, but they were nice quality, reasonably clean, and empty whenever we needed to use them. Bedroom was very quaint. Not having an en-suite is a bit of a pain, but it actually added to the authenticity of the building. We would stay again. Ground floor or reception is full of tourists come to see the old building, but upstairs is quiet enough to get seating and listen to the music and soak up the atmosphere. ts just a shame that the bars upstairs dont have dishwashers, so drinks are in plastic glasses, and seating does not have side tables. They really need to find a simple solution here, as sitting and having a drink in the main hall could be so much more of a pleasure for guests.

Great location to see a variety of the gysers and of course \"Old Faithful!\" Room did not have a bathroom and the walk to the bathroom in the middle of the night was not fun! Shared showers were gross - filled with hair! We saw others wearing robes and we did not have any in our room. Buffet lunch was good value but dinner buffet way to expensive!

Beautiful, old, classic hotel. Right at “Old Faithful” geyser, viewable from the upstairs deck, not to be missed!
Our room was in the old area, with the bathroom down the hall. We were aware of this and it was fine for a night or so. The room was nice, and quiet, all wood paneled. The dining room was beautiful and the food was well prepared with good service. A great place in Yellowstone to stay.

we were so excited to be able to stay at the old faithful Inn. The structure is so impressive and just beautiful. We enjoyed our dinner in the dining room. The hostess and wait staff were super friendly. It was very convenient to walk out on a regular basis and watch old faithful go off. I was even able to get up in the morning and watch it at sunrise. I loved the rustic feel of the hotel. But I was a little disappointed in the cleanliness. I felt they could’ve done a better job of just picking up trash or running a vacuum cleaner. Our room itself, though was very clean.

It was nice to stay in a historical property at a convenient location to watch the Old Faithful. Indeed, we watched its eruption 4 times at different time of the day. Staff were friendly and helpful. Food options were good. Above all, cannot beat the location - there is a huge benefit of taking the time for watching the geysers and relaxing from staying overnight at this property.

I didn’t realize but there were no bathrooms in the rooms. We had to go down the hall to go to the bathroom and shower. There was only 1 functioning shower. The room was dusty and the bedding had a tired small. The entire lodge had a moldy smell. The lights were dim throughout and we had no wifi or telephones. There was a radiator in our room and we were told if it got too hot to regulate by opening the window. We asked for a room swap to upgrade where we were willing to pay extra but the front desk said no. The buffet was mediocre and over-priced. The fast food in the Snow Lodge was worse. There was no complementary coffee either. So we had to wait until 6:30 AM to get coffee from a small shop downstairs. They need to knock the lodge down and build an updated version.

The staff was very sweet and apologetic. The hotel is close to old Faithful and was a good location. So we didn’t wash except for our face the whole time and went to our next lovely hotel in CodyWY where we could have a nice shower and clean linens. They had a lovely coffee/tea/hot chocolate bar. The staff made us delicious warm cookies. And the nightmare lodge from Yellowstone forgotten

Very unique and excellent property to visit, but I do not recommend staying there. Rooms are very small. Had to share bathroom with others, with showers located one floor up. Room located, looking out over the parking lot with no security drapes. No TV or Internet and cell service very spotty. Food was mediocre other than the buffet breakfast, which was very good. Loved the location, the area around the hotel and the history, but not a place to spend the night at this point.

A very cool place to stay, but the downside is that it has no Wi-Fi at all. At first I liked the idea, until I realized my flight had been changed and I hadn’t received an alert. However you can walk to one of the two other lodges, about 100 yds away, that both have WiFi.

Front desk is helpful with Park questions. The view is amazing. You can get an alcoholic drink, coffee, or some ice cream and watch the amazing Old Faithful erupt. The rooms were nice and clean. There's lots of stores, places to eat, drink, or grab coffee. We were very happy we stayed here!

Old Faithful Inn is awesome! They added door closers so that the doors do not slam. The whole place is so iconic and the staff are absolutely wonderful. They even called me about a ring that I had lost in my room and offered to send it to me. I appreciate all of their thoughtfulness. There were also sufficient dining options around the whole complex (beyond the Inn itself). I’d love to come back again soon!

Struttura storica e bellissima in un posto bellisiimo
Purtroppo manca il wi fi, per avere la connessione bisogna amdare allo snow lodge, manca un frigo in camera, condizionatore e tv. Capisco gli ultimi 2 visto il tipo di struttura ma visto che per una stanza senza bagno abbiamo speso 200€ a notte il wifi e un mini frigo me.li aspetto.
Amgolo bar del 2 piano rimasto senza tutto, la ragazza ci ha detto do non abre nulla del menù e di provare il giorno dopo per vedere se fossero arrivate le scorte... Tutto qiesto a ferragosto .
3 stelle per questo motivo, per il resto è bellissimo!

No wi-fi in this day and age is awful. To plan and organise and navigate it is essential. To access bookings and timings for things and to plan journeys it is needed. It is madness not to have it available.
Having to share a bathroom is awful. Only 2 cubicles per section of the floor is not very helpful. The restroom stalls are appalling for privacy. The lower part of the door is so high it is almost at knee height. The top of the door is about 5 feet high and people can peer over the top of the stall doors. And there are gaps in the sides of the doors by the hinges and locks so dignity is not preserved.
We arrived at night. The car park is in total darkness and difficult to navigate. And it is not clear that there’s a second car park.
The food options are also terrible. No option to buy anything to eat or drink after 10pm. Have to walk across dark car parks to the Snow Lodge.
Really not helpful at all.
In the bedrooms - no bedside table or lamp.
No curtains or blinds, only net curtains. So we were woken at dawn by the sun streaming in.
Breakfast wasn’t a great experience either. Long waits for drinks. They fill your coffee cup and take away the container of coffee. You have to order fruit juice which is brought from the basement. Many sub-standard and easily remedied issues.
The building no doubt has limitations, but it could be made more comfortable without many major changes with some better thought out facilities with the customer in mind.

The inn was built in 1903 and opened in 1904. It is absolutely incredible to see what they built at the time. The wood structure is beautiful and it really is a treat to stay there and be able to walk over to Old faithful and all the other geysers and springs. It was a treat to stay one night. I wouldn't stay more than a night but it's great to stay because after 5pm it clears out and at 6am hiking along the trails to see the pools and geysers and seeing a sunset with very few people was a treat. Highly recommended.

Beautiful place to stay, room was clean and beds comfy. Everyone was super friendly and helpful. Only drawback was no a.c. Used a fan and opened the window but still too warm for our liking. Wish there were a few more dining options-didn’t know you had to have reservation for dining room so couldn’t get in so went to bar where food was slim pickings.

I have always wanted to stay at Old Faithful Inn. The Inn was rustic but had lots of amenities. I really enjoyed sitting on the balcony eating ice cream and watching Old Faithful erupt. It truly is the crown jewel of National Park hotels

Spectacular old hotel, but getting a bit run down

The location is spectacular, but the hotel itself was just so-so. It is a very old hotel, and so expectations were not particularly high, but we were still somewhat disappointed in the hotel experience. Food was expensive, and rooms were a bit shabby, and in need of maintenance. The staff was very good, but they can only do so much, and cannot hide the obvious worn appearance of the rooms.

There is no internet access, that’s the only shortcoming - But the whole property is a historical landmark - and it’s magnanimous vintage beauty- it was giving me Titanic dining hall vibes- you will not regret it if cost is not a priority. More than worth. I loved the stay- Stayed for 2 nights here.

No restroom or shower in the room, no a/c, had to park down the road at the gas station in the dark and walk back, no coffee available in the morning, limited options for food, poor service at the bar snacks area, no wifi, small fan didn’t stir any air. Overall not a good experience. Expensive one night stay.

Fantastic stay. We were in newer part of Inn with private bath. It is very small but many of the rooms here have shared baths. It is staying in a part of history. Inn is beautiful and a one of a kind experience. Very expensive.
