We had a planned event that was going to mean we couldnt check in till much later in the evening, we were aloud to leave our bag and then eventually check in around 11pm. Reception was still manned and check in was easy. Room was clean and spacious and ideal for just getting your head down after a long day. Bathroom really clean and free wifi so my daughter could upload all her photos taken for the day. And breakfast waa winner nuce and simple but needed for another day in London. Great Hotel.

The staff were extremely friendly. Breakfast was excellent. The lady in charge of the dining area was very helpful in filling my contego flask with boiling water. The lift was very useful. Although the Traffic outside was noisy at times, the hotel itself was very quiet, and I didn’t hear any other guests. The location is brilliant for my visits to Lord’s Cricket Ground, Regents Park, The Royal Academy of Music and Wigmore Hall. I look forward to my next visit in July.

Clean and Comfortable but not modern

As the ending to a 20 day European holiday although the room was clean and orderly, when the bed is about 80% of the room space with the lack of a closet there is little room to move around to dress or access luggage contents. Bathroom is also small with no counter space, shower doors are small and difficult to enter and exit, shower with constant over shower head water unless you turn off water since it’s so small, but very clean.

Quaint and presents itself well with easy walking distance to the Metro and a variety of activities and restaurants. For those with limited ability there are many stairs and the elevator is very old and small and you have to open and close the doors for it to operate properly, because if not closed properly it doesn’t operate and you are forced to use the stairs.

On the upside there are plenty of electrical outlets for those like us that have 10 or more devices that need charging. Far better than some places with only one outlet.

Based on cost, it is a fair value and the staff is helpful, you just need to be aware that this is not a modern hotel and rooms are small but clean and comfortable.

For the price paid, this hotel provided excellent value. The room was spotless and the general communal areas very clean and well looked after. The area close to Baker Street is a good central location, with hotel being in safe area. The staff were very friendly and the buffet breakfast included in our price was decent. Quaint front to the Hotel, friendly reception and quiet location but not a run down area, lots of renovation works going on in nearby bldgs.
Americana was least expensive so we had idea of what to expect. However the room we stayed in had no view just a wall and slight opening to see closed allyway of other walls with windows looking down on our room.
The room was tiny, and restroom was super tiny, with a 600mm x 600mm shower tray with glass sides and a bizzarre shower curtain in the corner that you have to lift and walk in sideways(and I mean Iam slim).
The soap dispenser was way too high, I had trouble getting it dispensed never mind my child.
However the room was cleaned well even though it is very tired to put it nicely. Bedding was clean and fresh as were towels.
What disappoints in the room slightly makes up for the breakfast, good coffee, fresh juices, pastries, cereals, bread for toasting, other hosts were decent people and friendly, hotel seems to attract nice people so thats a plus(yes really)
Overall if your just staying a few days and you want a lesser expense, and enjoy similar vacationers experience and clean sheets then this will help with your budget.

Very good value for money

The ongoing refurbishment has improved the state of this hotel enormously. The work had no effect on our stay.
The hotel is in easy walking distance of both the underground and multiple bus routes making it easy to see the sites of London.
The rooms are compact as one would expect in hotel of modest cost in a central location. They are however well laid out and clean.

Only downside was that the lift didn’t always work - because the design meant that if people didn’t close the doors (which they didn’t while I was there), then the lift could not be called from one floor to another.

The lounge and dining area were quite nice, as was the continental breakfast. I would just warn readers that the room and bathroom/shower we stayed in was very small but nice. I believe for the price, this is the size one would get when staying in a central London- or any big city- hotel. Our room did not have a street view, and therefore was very quiet. I would advise travelers that are sensitive to noise to ask for rooms that are not facing the street, no matter where one stays.

The room given was not as shown in the pictures, carpet stained, marks on the walls, would not use the shower, the mattress was extremely hard but the bed linen was clean, the whole hotel is crying out for a refurbishment.

The room was the filthiest i jave experienced in my extensive travells. The bed sheets were not clean. The tap was broken. There was mystery liquids all of the walls amd the carpets were covered in the most fowl stains. The lift was also broken, thus forcing us to carry 30kg luggage up and down the stairs. The manager also tried to charge us double the rate we were told it would cost. She was also very rude and cold. The location was convenient for the tube but that was the only thing we were happy with. The hotel needs a makeover, the carpets threadbare, the radiators dirty, the shower room needed re grouting and re sealing and the shower curtain didn't fit the shower. Continental breakfast was poor, having some kind of tinned meat (guess) with refrigerated, not fresh boiled eggs which looked and tasted like they had been boiled for 15 minutes. On the plus side the majority of staff were pleasant and helpful.

I could only describe this place as a cesspit. Very small, stuffy and dirty bedroom. The place needs a serious makeover. Do yourself a favour and ignore any positive reviews because there's nothing positive about this 'hotel' except the good location.
We were so disgusted by the dirt of the room that we skipped the free breakfast by assumption it wouldn't be all that clean either. The pillows smelled like someone had been sick on them and there was what looked like toe nail clippings on the bed. I'd be surprised if anything had been replaced/changed/cleaned after the previous guests. Avoid this cesspit!

The room was extremely unclean, skirting boards had dust caked on it, there was mould in the shower, probably because there was no ventilation. The shower barely drained and the shower curtain was in bad condition too The mattress was so thin and uncomfy as well.
Breakfast is extremely sub-par, literally just coffee, croissants and eggs, nothing substantial to eat.
No real service, most of the staff didn't seem to want to be there and on the day of check out, we had housekeeping almost come into our room at 10am when checkout wasn't until 11am.

The location was brilliant, very easy to get to and a beautiful part of London. Sadly that's the only positive. My bedroom was filthy, the walls were covered in all sorts that i dont even want to think about. As was the hallway areas with their ripped carpet. In my wardrobe was nail clippers and vaseline from the previous person. You don't get a kettle in your room. I decided to try to accept the dirt as at least it was somewhere to sleep. Except I was woken in the night by people coming in and out all night, and then at 5am by a drunk lady knocking on my door demanding to be in. No keyhole in door to see who is there. Eventually security came and took her to her room. Lots of other reviews say \"its what you expect for the price\", except it isn't even much cheaper than a 4* hotel nearby. Great location and if they just painted and cleaned the hotel they'd have a gem. I'm not normally a fussy hotel stayer but this was horrible and id paid a lot of money

We had a lovely welcome, when we arrived. I had already been in touch and had been given great advice and directions to hotel. The rooms were fine all that was needed, the coffee machine was a great bonus with great beverages available 24/7. The continental breakfast was extensive and was very generous. Me only issue,was the tv didnt work but to be fair i never mentioned it and forgot to let proprietor know when leaving. I am sure he would have dealt with it. I would definitely recommend it, as it was easily accessible from underground. A great little hotel.

great budget stay

Very acommodating staff. 24 hr ht drinks in lobby. Bit of an antiquaited small lift. Super housekeeping. Private, quiet, near really useful Baker St tube, inexpensive.

Good Value

The Americana Hotel is in an excelent locatiion being within walking distance of Marylebone Raillway Station, Baker St. Underground and a multitude of buses. The hotel while modest has adequate facilities and a simple buffet breakfast. The availability a of coffee machine all day is particularly useful. Finally the extremelly friendly and helpful staff make for a very enjoyable stay in London. All in all very good value for money.
