This hotel is in a fantastic location - perfect for eating, shopping and wandering in the park. My room was nice but it definitely could have done with a refresh in terms of flooring and bathroom. It was hard to know what the hotel amenities were because no info was provided in the room - I had to seek it out myself!

We didn’t have a good experience at the stay. Because, one of the guys in the reception desk ( called Akash), who was rude and not helpful at all. The hotel management should be ashamed to have such staff. Therefore, we will not come to this hotel again.
However, I also wanted to mention the other receptionists ( called Emlang and Pracham) who were very friendly and helpful.

The pictures lied, the hotel is old and not well matained, the chairs in restaurant are full of stains and food and area (breakfast) don’t look clean, the carpets are stained and not clean, the paint is old.
The towels were white and now are beige (old towels)

-No guest internet
-Had a lot of technical issues with internet connection even after getting our room assigned.
-Had problems with check-in. Receptionist said that they hadn't got confirmation email from Expedia, although my stay was confirmed to me by Expedia (Fee had been deducted too). This delayed my check-in process by 3 hours on arrival.
-Had problems with the breakfast: Since Expedia had sent any confirmation email to the hotel they weren't Willing to give a complimentary breakfast that was promised by Expedia.

Goods:
- we had to print a boarding-pass/docs and the staff was useful.

Summary: Not ideal to be booked via Expedia. Not good for international travellers.

I like the location. It's very close to the shopping district and eating places. It is about 10 minutes from Brigade Room, walking distance to Hard Rock Cafe. For my dinner on my last night, I walked to the nearby eating places.

It's not worth the money. It was supposed to be a premium room, but it was extremely small. The next day the pillow case had curry stain marks on it. Even after several requests, they didn't had the decency to change the cover. For the same price the pavilion was much better. I would never recommend this hotel to anybody. We wanted to check out the next day, but we penalty would be charged. This careless attitude speaks volumes about the hotel. I stayed in this hotel many a times before and the service was exemplary and I don't know what has happened now. Wondering whom the Hotel caters to now????

Prime location but bit outdated. Friendly staff but felt not trained and again outdated.

Hotel Chancery, great value for money

I stayed in the old section of the hotel, budget wise choice. The new part looks stunning and well finished.

Food was excellent value. Beer cold. Service very helpful and attentive.

The spa in the basement sorted out my swollen ankles from travelling in 24 hours.

Hard Rock Café (recommended too), Chinaswammy Cricket Stadium and one of the botanical gardens are within 300 metres of the hotel.

hotel taxi issues

Really big issue with transport as the hotel taxi sent a car wrongly for the day before and expected me to foot the entire bill for 2 trips. Managed to compromise to pay for it the first trip partially and the 2nd trip in full but just to be given the bill at 0230hrs when I arrived at the hotel and the ridiculuousness of the situation put me off my whole trip.

Earlier it used to be a good hotel but things has changed now. Services really gone down in terms of rating. We ordered for the food and seems if was like a bitter one and looks like it was day before food.

Found few problems in the room like leaky taps and water nozzle, dirty bath tub tiles, missing towels etc. surprisingly there are no option of hard bed. Spoke to the Duty manager about these when I checked in on Sunday and when he was unable to resolve wanted to speak to GM but he refused to connect me with him. Stayed there for 4 days and reminded the duty manager and he. Said the GM will call but the GM never spoke or any else from the senior staff even apologised for the shoddy room. Never again to this hotel where the GM and other staff is unconcerned.

In one of my very first experiences, I was actually called up in the room on the day if my departure and asked if I could vacate my room since there was another guest waiting to check in. I had requested a 12:30pm checkout and I received the call at 12pm.
It was disconcerting to say the least.

The bedsheets had an odour. Food was awful. I believe they passed on Plain filtered water as RO Water. Cashier refused to credit Miles to my AirIndia account although they are tied up with them, on the plea that the booking should have come thru AirIndia , not hotels.com

Great location if you're going to a game at the Chinnaswamy. Close to other attractions too - MGRoad, Church St., Hard Rock Cafe, several malls etc. The breakfast buffet is just about adequate, nothing to write home about. Staff is friendly. The in-house \"travel\" service is over-priced by about 40% - look for online services for cars and tours. The room was okay, no complaints.

Noisy Maintenance

I would be otherwise happy with the hotel - but the mini bar was not stocked. I would like to see razor / paste / brush without requesting for the same. There was maintenance being undertaken creating lots of noise til 7.30pm...which was a big disturbance....after the maintenance is over, is when I would probably stay in this hotel.

Well Located, Excellent Service by staff

The overall experience of my stay at the Chancery was a good one. I mainly chose this place because it is centrally located. We were very happy with the service at the hotel. Entire Hotel staff right from the room boy to the manager where extremely courteous, helpful and forever smiling which made us feel pleasant and comfortable. The only drawback was that the hotel was under going renovations (which is needed by the way) and unfortunately due to this, we found it very difficult to sleep at night. There was constant pounding/drilling noise right on the roof of our room. I suggest they avoid providing rooms which are close to where the renovation is happening to avoid unhappy clientele.

Good location But bad really old smelly rooms

Hi ,, I really shocked by the hotel decorations they did not renew it since i stayed there around 2003 or 2004 really old and smelling bad. If you care about new clean hotel please run away from this hotel. Or call them before you go if they have renewed the rooms. The positive points are that the hotel location is good and the staff are really helpful but they insist to help you sake of tip which is normal in India I believe.

A disappointing service

The rooms are OK for the price. I was quite disappointed by the special service I received from the front office staff who were on night duty.

Travel desk staff also behaved irresponsibily and charged me money for their mistake.
Finally adding up all these mistake I had to pay 2.2times the actual amount I should have paid(or stayed in a grade A 5 star hotel).
If the front office/travel desk staff did the mistake, they should have absorbed the cost. I will not recommend this hotel to anyone in future.

We walked into the first room that was provided. It was stinking of dampness. We requested a change of room, that took about 45 minutes. Once we moved to the new room it was slightly better because they had sprayed air freshener. Once that smell was gone it went back to the same smelly old place.

Damp musty rooms and rip-off attitude

This has to be one of the worst hotels i've ever stayed in. Firstly when I arrived in the room the damp musty smell was almost suffocating. The sheets on the bed were also damp. I asked for a change of room and alI received was another room with bed sheets that wew slightly less damp. The breakfast did hardly at all cater for western tastes. The attitude of the checkin an check out personnel was cold and unfriendly. Finally when I requested the concierge to get me a taxi I was told that it was not possible for him to do so and I had to use the hotel car to get to the airport which was over twicw the price of a regular city taxi. This I felt was a deliberate ploy to force guests to use the hotel car at over twice the price. It would have simply been a matter of the concierge sending a person out to the street to flag down a taxi but they refused to do this. The reason stated was that I would have to order one myself by telephone. They then proceeded to simply dial a taxi number and handed the phone to me to order it myself. As I did not understand how long it would take I had no other choice but to abandon that and pay for the hotel car on my credit card. After paying 60% more than a regular taxi they then proceeded to just call me a regular city cab and they made 40% profit for their travel desk service. This was not only bad customer service but I feel that I have been deliberately ripped off. I am so angry with this hotel that I think it should no longer be posted on Hotels.com and I would request that hotels.com forward my complaint to this hotel.

The Chancery Hotel in Bangalore, India

A very decent hotel, with friendly staff, always willing to help you out.
I had some problem with my phone charger and they provided an appropriate charger along with an adaptor for my laptop!
I also needed iron/iron board which they immediately provided. But they might need to change the irons (a bit old)
I tried breakfast, lunch and dinner at their two restaurants within the hotel: very nice tastes, good prices and excellent service!
Overall, I highly recommend this hotel, cause its also in the center of Bangalore, within walking distance to a few sites, as well as the commercial streets for shopping.
