The front desk reception was poor/unhelpful when I checked in. That said, checkout was a breeze and a pleasant experience, staff was very helpful.

Did not like the bathroom - the shower area. And on one of the days, music from the club below was too loud and filtered up to the hotel room and was quite disruptive (this was on Holi I believe)

It was just a horrible and worse experience of our lives ever.. When it comes to staying in a five star hotel. The staff had no clue what they were doing. We checked in , got our keys and when we went up to our room.. we swiped the card , door opens and we see a half naked man in the bed jerking himself off !!! We rushed out of the door .. went downstairs to the reception and they were not even sorry... just handed us another key and said it was just a system error.
2nd : we couldn’t sleep all night because they have night club in the same Bldg and it was too loud.
3rd: the bedsheet , pillows everything looked as if never changed, and stinky.
Also, we prepaid for two nights but after thai experience we left the first night and decided not to stay the other night.. and we never got our money refunded. I had no energy to argue with the most unprofessional, untrained staff so we decided to let it go.
One word : pathetic!

Check in requires more than 40 minutes, the in room dining service is pathetic although quality of food is good. It’s a pure business hotel would not recommend any one going out for leisure or couples trip. Mini bar charges are arrogant, can’t even enjoy dinner at their restaurant as they are most of the times booked for marriages or parties

Had a bit of a troublesome start, however things got a lot better including complimentary wine and snacks as apology and free drop to the airport. Room service and check in are bit slow though.

First of all, I would like to thank Sansmit, the Assistant Lobby Manager. I was very upset at the way I was handled by the young ladies during checkin and their inability and/or unwillingness to resolve the problems I faced on the first night. However, when I brought the issues to the knowledge of Sansmit, he acted on it right away and took care of me extremely well. I can not but thank this gentleman for his help. He is the kind of staff that Park should have. At the end of the day, I am very satisfied and enjoyed my stay at Park thanks to Sansmit. However, I would suggest that Park employs staff that take care of the guests unlike the one’s who proved their ineffiency at taking care of me on my first evening there. I will stay there again if the Park management makes sure that they have the proper staff, whose duty is to take ultimate care of it’s guests. If you run into problems there, please bringit to the management’s notice. They will take care of you. That is what I experienced and commend the manager for taking quick action to satisfy the guest.

For proposing that this is a 5-star hotel is a bit much. Although some of the staff was quite friendly, I was surprised by the desk staffs' difficulty to smile. Our room was quite small and not well maintained. The tops of all surfaces needed a good scrub, and the lockbox and hairdryer did not work. Furthermore, there were two nightclubs on the property. You could hear the thumping from the bass until the early morning (mind you we were on the 4th floor). I was not impressed when I checked in because many of the drunk club patrons had spilled onto the lobby during our check-in. Overall, the hotel requires a proper updating in terms of cleanliness and staff friendliness.

Clearly, the property needs an upgrade and the staff needs to be retrained. Check-in process is painstakingly slow. The room initially given was right next to the one where renovation of some kind was taking place - it was noisy, to put it mildly. Room service is slow, the menu needs updating. Room phone menu needs updating. Newspapers are optional, yet never told so upfront. There is enough revenue coming from the dance club and The Park, nationwide, seem to be benefitting more from that and that seems to be taking attention away from the hotel guests.

Great staff and property.

Arrived late on a Friday night from the airport. Front desk staff was fantastic. Professional and courteous with a particular shoutout for Debdeep. The room was exactly as advertised, clean and comfortable. Bathroom was clean and properly stocked. Maybe could have used a few face clothes but that's getting pretty persnickety.

Had breakfast (included) in the price. Food was adequate. Some of the waiters could use a bit of umph but it was generally fine.

Now comes the important part. We ran into a serious problem that we had to walk over half of Calcutta to solve, but couldn't. Came back to the hotel and explained our situation to the duty manager. She got Mr. Gupta, the general manager, involved, and he took a personal interest and helped us through the problem. He, the front desk staff, and whomever in the back office solved our problem. There was a bit of confusion, mostly caused by me, but they overcame it. I'm fortunate to be able to travel extensively all over the world, and I can honestly say that Mr. Gupta and the front desk staff rank among the best.

I don't hesitate in recommends The Park Hotel in Kolkata. Some of the unfavourable reviews of this hotel makes me think that the reviewers are accidental tourists who haven't got out much.

I had to leave after 2 days even though we made nonrefunderable booking for aweek. What was advertised did not exist. The lobby manager wasted two half day of my niece to run around with a manager showing one low end room after another. I strongly recommend

The rooms need to be renovated so badly to the point that I felt I couldn't step anywhere without some footwear on. I changed rooms and apart from the view nothing much changed. This was my 4th time staying here and every time I think that location is the only thing going right for this hotel.

Hotel was good...had good amnities...BUT the glasses provided in room and washroom were not clean...atmosphere was a bit dusty inside room...requested a water glass but got it after 2.5hrs and 6-7 calls...cable tv didnot work...staff at breakfast was not up to 5star level...had to wait for a while just to get juice...ordered item delivered almost at the end of breakfast...quite disappointing...but concierge was very helpful...

Old premise. Until early morning, the bar and disco play music very loud and you feel the sound and vibration in your room. If you want to sleep at night, this hotel if not for you. If your purpose is to enjoy the night life, it might be for you.

The disco played loud band till 2 am - we were awake and had to call front desk to complain.

Positive Points about The Park Kolkata : Amazing Location, Well maintained hotel and interiors, professional house keeping staffs, courteous and professional bell desk & receiving staffs staffs at main entrance.
Negative Point : Reception / Front Desk staffs need to be provided with an extra professional training on handling guests since they seems to be over attitude employees with utmost absence minded when you request them your requirements and in passing to other departments including not pleasing in their dealings while face to face dealing with customers !!!

We are with my kid .but room is clumsy in the name of luxury premium . Some Ms. seems at the reception was arrogant in behaviour . She asked me for immediate early checking at 200 rs . Extra for pre checking at 12.05 pm. On saying no with all humbleness she behaves like some useless people came at the hotel . She needs to be reported .
I really find 70percent worth of my place .
Breakfast is nice ,but always a table full when you go around 9.30am

Location is perhaps the best possible in Kolkata. However the property needs some serious overhauling, The bathroom fixtures (taps, showers etc) needs to looked at, the plug points not working, just the small things. Hope the hotel management looks into these small details so that we can keep relishing this amazing place

The location is great. For the price we paid, the hotel was not up to the standards in terms of cleanliness, service, general ambience. Even for twin sharing rooms, they provide only one key to the room and if you and your friend are coming at different times, it's very difficult. They said it is for security reasons but every hotel in the world that I've stayed in, they provide two keys if there are two people in a room.

It was a decent place. The room was spartan, but the bathroom was very well nicely designed and structured. The Club tends to be VERY noisy till the late hours of the night/early hours of the morning, particularly on the weekends. Also the sounds of revelry from the street at night travels to the rooms that are street facing. So, it is important to worry about the location of your room.

Awesome Location!

Awesome because of the location. Its right on park street, next to trincas n oxford book shop. All the park street restaurants are walking distance. Esplanade and New Market are walking distance! Asiatic society is next door. The dharmatala bus stop is walking distance. Railway station is not too far. And airport also fairly reachable.

Think twice

This was one of the worst hotels I've been to in India. I called the hotel twice to confirm a hotel car, however, there was no car to pick me up at 4:30 am. When I finally arrived at the hotel my room wasn't ready and waited 2 hours in the lobby for one. The lobby was a mess with dirt and cigarettes everywhere. Apparently the lobby turns into a club. The room is run down and bathroom below par. If you're choosing this hotel for work, the room is not well layout to get any work done. A few of my colleagues checked out to stay at the LaLit near by which was way better. Skip this place and stay at the LaLit.

If you are going to Kolkata for the nightlife, this is the place to stay. There are multiple bars open late within the hotel and many more within walking distance.

The rooms, however, have seen better days. The corners were crusted with a layer of dirt that made it look like it had been a while since a deep clean, and the furnishings were worn down, despite the modern design. The shower was atrocious. You will hear every noise from the hallway and surrounding rooms, so bring your ear plugs. I would expect more from a hotel at this price range in metropolitan India.

Fun and restful stay

This is the third time that I have chosen the Park Hotel during my stopovers in Kolkata and for good reason too ! Located in a cosmopolitan part of town - there's lots to do ! The hotel amenities are very good (pool, restaurants & chill out areas). All in all, a great base to explore from with good service (Porters, doormen and travel desk (JP) in particular) and modern ambiance.

Check-in took 15 minutes; since I had booked thru expedia(at the lowest possible rate), so they kept on checking the worst possible room of their hotel; finally the manager asked the executive to give me a room (which as per them was a free upgrade); the other lady staff kept on doing her stuff(while I was standing in the queue waiting); she never bothered to ask me to check in at her counter; there was no bathroom slipper in the room; outdated furniture in the room

There was no buffet breakfast included in the tariff; by no means was it a five star hotel experience..

Made to wait for 20 minutes upon arrival. Asked for a room with a view but did not get it.The room a/c cannot be controlled! ! It's freezing cold at any setting. No hot water in the bathroom first 2 out of 3 days stay . bathroom very run down and ancient fittings.Room card key stopped working. Staff not very helpful except one or two . airport cab booked for return about 4 times but told by multiple staff as i settled the bill that i did not ask for the airport drop even at 1750rs charge not free.

One of the worst hotel with no sense of service.

The hotel forgot to send transport to the airport so we were stranded at the airport for 90 minutes. The hotel knew that I was traveling with unwell family member. I have all the mail trails. Repeated calls to the hotel went unanswered. Travel desk denied any booking despite having the booking confirmation in my hand. Finally we got a transport and reached the hotel and there also it seemed that they were less bothered. I believe one of the worst hotels if not the worst.

Great Place with Low Flexibility

Stay was very comfortable. Booked through the website and it was a non refundable tariff. By error I booked it thinking that the 20K would be a 4 night special rate. But it turned out to be a 1 night rate which was very high for me by any standards. After many requests and emails there could not be any solution which could be provided by Park. Since it was an official visit I was bound by an upper limit which I could remit through the company. The rest I had to bear as a financial loss. I wish Park could be a little bit more flexible when handling frequent customers.

Definitely not three stars

I was quite disappointed with this hotel. I had heard it was one of the best in Kolkata but it is definitely not. There was damp in the room, hot water was a problem and generally the condition of the room was about 3 stars.

The hotel room was very old looking. Need upgrade. Room temperature control didn't work and always felt very cold. However, hotel staff members were very good and efficient with their respective services.

I enjoyed Park but did not like the people smoking in the hotel rooms in spite of the rooms being non-smoking.Since the air conditioning circulates the smoke, I could get the smell in the corridors.I am allergic to the smell of cigarette smoke and get headaches.I would appreciate if you enforce your non smoking rule more efficiently.Otherwise my stay at The Park was great and I look forward to more visits in the future.
