Basic hotel in good location - noise problems

This family-run B&B is located close to various super markets, restaurant and the beach. We felt it was a bit overrated. If you are unlucky and get a room near the reception/breakfast or bar areas the noise levels in the late evening and early morning are unbearable (even with earplugs). Apart from that we we were a bit disappointed that the usual complementary toiletries (e.g. shampoo and shower gel) were no provided. In addition, it would have been nice for the hotel to provide dishwashing equipment for the otherwise fully equipped kitchen. On the positive side the staff was always very friendly and helpful.

The pictures make this place look perfect but far from the truth!
But it is what it is 3 star? maybe only 2 star needs a really good update
sheets and pillows where stained. Breakfast couldn't touch!
but if your on a budget and just passing in through then give it a go, most of the staff pleasant.
One really good thing about it is the Bar, good staff and good music.

Axos Hotel

The Axos hotel is a family run small hotel located yards from the beach and surrounded by Tavernas, and shops. The nearest supermarket is yards away and Lidl is a two minute walk. The beach is across the road. The Axos has a nice bar and pool and is spotlessly clean. The owners and staff cannot do enough for you.
The Axos is a great hotel and I look forward to returning next year.

Lovely hotel and close to lots of places to eat

We loved staying at this family run Hotel.everyone was so warm and welcoming. The pool was fab not to busy and had a kids pool which my daughter adored. Would highly recommend as opposite the beach and you won't find better hospitality.

Very friendly family run hotel

What a lovely family who own this hotel. They go out of their way to get to know guests and it was clear people return year after year.

Rooms had everything you could need and were clean enough. Bathroom was tiny though and had a sit down shower which was tricky and I could image a few slips in it. Not something I'd recommend to people who may not be too steady on their feet.

Great breakfast every day ... good choice and always something a little different.

I'm unlikely to return simply because I'd have no reason to go back to that area. However I would recommend the hotel if it was somewhere you wanted to go. It was very cheap on Hotels.com and for what we paid it was excellent value.

We were provided with a pool view as requested and emailed the hotel before we arrived who ensured that a taxi was there to meet us at the airport. The staff were very friendly and happy to answer any questions we had. Our room was quite close to reception and the bar area and as such we did get quite a bit of noise throughout the night - even in the really early hours with people clattering and talking down the hallway. Luckily we took earplugs!
The hotel is in a great location with close access to the beach and there are many restaurants and bars along the strip as well as shops and places to book trips. As some have noted, the maid service can be quite inconsistent - sometimes they will provide you with sheets and blankets to make your own bed, sometimes they will do it for you, single sheets one day, double another, not empty the bins or not visit at all. It did not imapact our enjoyment of the holiday however but needs improvement.
Overall we enjoyed our stay and the hotel receptionists were excellent. Hotel Axos is in a good location that allowed us to explore Crete both East and west.

Fantastic place to stay!

We had a fantastic time at axos. The hotel is in a great location, a short walk from the beach and lots of lovely bars and restaurants nearby. The staff are really friendly and helpful, the pool is lovely and we never struggled to get a sunbed. Axos was a great place to stay and we will be returning!

Loved it!

We had a late arrival but even so, the staff was very friendly and happy to help escort us to our room. It was clean and charming and the air conditioner performed like a rock star. The next day the staff gladly arranged a taxi to the airport for us. Our stay was too short, next time we visit Crete, the Axos will be top of the list to stay!

Comfortable hotel close to a lovely beach.

The hotel is a little dated but was more than adequate for our purposes. The bar is lively with a huge choice of beers & cocktails. Yannis (?) who runs the bar is brilliant, plays great music & is the perfect host. The pool is not huge but clean and does the job.

A nice affordable close to Rethymnon

The room was spacious, clean and reasonably furnished. The pool was small and we haven\"t used it. No internet in the rooms (but we knew this from the website at the time of booking).

The hotel lies in a busy area with lots of restaurants and supermarkets in the nearby. A bus gets you to Rethymnon town in approx. 15 minutes.

We booked a standard Studio room for a week as we would only be using it for a couple of days either side of a wedding on Crete.
It was perfectly adequate (and good value for the price). It was cleAn, very handy for access to the pool and spacious enough but we would definitely have gone for the larger Superior room for a full week stay.
The pool was very clean but We think it would definitely be a bit cramped in high season. Only 5 minutes stroll from clean beaches though
Platanes itself has the usual touristy shops and bars but Rethymno old city centre is only 10 mins drive or 20 mins bus away.

Perhaps not worthy of \"Excellent\" reviews.

Booked this hotel as a couple for a two week stay end Sept 2014. Decision was based upon apparent value for money, distance from nearest beach, and small kitchenette in room - but primarily opted for this particular accommodation due the very positive reviews from the majority of previous travellers.

Overall, there is nothing exceptionally wrong with this hotel - indeed, it's location in Platanias (and closeness to the beach) is a positive. However, there were a few \"niggles' that are probably worthy of note...

Firstly, the bedding (two single beds pushed together - absolutely fine). No complaints about the cleanliness of it, but remain confused as to the inconsistency of how it was made up - sometimes it was with two separate bottom sheets and two top sheets, sometimes one double bottom sheet and two top sheets, sometimes just a pile of freshly laundered sheets on the beds for us to make up ourselves. Regardless of this though, the sheets all appear to be far too small for the beds - resulting in an uncomfortable sleep, as they untuck very easily. Either way, my daily task was to remake the beds after the maids' attempts.

Secondly, our booking confirmation from Expedia shows that we had booked a \"Room Studio, includes free wireless internet\". Unfortunately, the wi-fi was only available in public areas, or in rooms very close to reception/pool. We had no wi-fi in our room.

Thirdly, no cleaning equipment was included in the kitchenette.

No more space to write...!

Great location & friendly staff!

Room was perfect with lots of cupboards/drawers to put things in. Only negatives were the drawers were really stiff and difficult to open and the bath/bathroom is very tiny and uncomfortable. You have to hold the hose to shower yourself which again isn't ideal esp in a pokey bathroom!!

Certainly achieves it's aim of affordable luxury; it delivers a lot for the space available and works hard to maintain it. it's roadside position won't suit everyone but it makes it very convenient with Tavernas, supermarket, bakery and bus stop all close by.

My second year because I've found the staff extremely helpful to making the most of your holiday.

This hotel has definitely known better days. Our room was not clean and had a bad smell. The shower was tiny and you could not even decently stand in it, and was clearly not cleaned in some time.

Axos - makes you want to stay

First of all, the place is gorgeous, clean and well spotted next to Rethymno which is a wonderful city for itself. WiFi was free with a password and a computer available for guests of the hotel. The hotel has a nice gold shop and a great pub facing the street. The atmosphere is thrilling and lively in the small pub and younger to elder enjoy it all at once. The swimming pool is clean and the rooms are big. If I had to negatively criticise the hotel I'd say the shower in our room wasn't so big - more like a mini bath.

We've just spent a week at the Axos and enjoyed it very much. It's very close to the beach and Planatias is a quiet resort which suited us down to the ground. The hotel has just refurbished all the rooms and it was a very comfortable stay. Staff were very friendly and helpful. The pool was immaculate and there were always plenty of sunbeds.

Arrivés les premiers dans l'hôtel, en cours de finition (peinture, ménage). Excellent accueil, tout le personnel au petits soins pour nous. Bar de l'hôtel excellent (cocktails) et moins cher qu'à l'extérieur. Buffet du petit déjeuner mieux de jour en jour, complet et bon. Mention spéciale pour la gentillesse de tout le personnel. A refaire.

Bra läge, nära strand, restauranger och affärer. Mycket vänlig och hjälpsam personal, framför allt den fantastiska kvinnan i receptionen!

Rummet var lagom stort, välstädat och hade en väldigt skön säng. Ljudisolerat ut mot poolen, men tyvärr alldeles för mycket ljud ifrån korridoren.

Först fick jag ett rum med absolut ingen utsikt alls, det var en husvägg bara någon meter ifrån balkongen. Inte ok! Som tur är fick jag byta rum efter att ha påpekat detta.

Frukosten helt ok och jag uppskattade att det fanns flera olika sorters färsk frukt att välja mellan.

Hotel très bien placé à quelques kilomètres de rethymnon. Les chambres sont propres et fidèles au photos. Le personnel est très gentil et s adapte à vos demandes. La piscine est top. Plage sans obligation de transat à côté de l hôtel.

Μειναμε για 5 βραδια.Η διαμονη μας ηταν εξαιρετικη.Με ενα παιδι 4.5 ετων και ενα μωρο 8 μηνων η εξυπηρετηση ηταν καταπληκτικη.Το προσωπικο ευγενεστατο κ με διαθεση να καλυψει καθε αναγκη μας.Η πισινα του ειναι το πιο δυνατο του σημειο.Καθαρη και ησυχη.Το πρωινο δε το δοκιμασαμε αλλα ο ζωρος του εστιατορειου ηταν αρκετα μεγαλος.Ετυχε και περασα μεσα απο την κουζινα τους και ηταν ολα πεντακαθαρα.Το συνιστουμε ανεπιφυλακτα για οικογενειες κ οχι μονο!

Ruhiges Hotel in Strandnähe

Bei der Ankunft haben wir einen sehr lieben und herzlichen Empfang genossen.
Wenn man mit dem Mietwagen kommt sind direkt vorm Hotel kostenfreie Parkplätze vorhanden.
Wir hatten ein Studio Zimmer gebucht. Dieses war sehr groß und geräumig, mit einer Küchenzeile, einem Tisch mit 3 Stühlen, einer Couch (dritte Schlafmöglichkeit), Fernseher, ein großes Bett, großer geräumiger Schrank und ein Bad mit Wanne. Der Balkon war mit einem Tisch, 2 Stühlen und einer Aufhängung für die nassen Badesachen ausgestattet! Der Pool war in einer angenehmen Größe, nicht zu klein und nicht zu groß. Der Strand ist nur 3 Gehminuten vom Hotel entfernt. Einfach klasse! Dort kann man entweder seinen eigenen Schirm mitbringen und es sich auf einem großen Stück bequem machen oder man nimmt sich 2 Liegen und einen Schirm vom Nachbarhotel für 5€ am Tag, mit Wifi und Poolbenutzung. Der Strand ist sandig nur beim reingehen ins Meer sind ein paar Steine aber danach ist es auch wieder sandig! Das einzige was im Hotel Axos nicht so ansprechend war, war das Frühstück, das ist ein wenig zu verbessern, wir haben uns einfach auf den griechischen Joghurt mit frischem Obst gestürzt und dazu Müsli, der war grandios! Es ist auch noch eine Bar im Hotel Axos, dort gibt es auch immer wieder mal Livemusik! Eine tolle Stimmung und die Barbelegschaft einfach nur toll! Wir hatten eine tolle Woche in Hotel Axos und werden definitiv wieder kommen! Wir haben uns sehr sehr wohl gefühlt!

Hotel in buona posizione praticamente attaccato da una strada alla piu costosa rethymno (4/5km),camere confortevoli dotate di piu o meno ogni cosa ci si aspetti.Per me hotel senza infamia e senza lode quindi va bene!Nota iper positiva (ma questo nn è un plus per l'hotel) è che di fronte si trova il miglior ristorante in termini di accoglienza ,qualità e prezzi per quello visto sull'isola davvero un ottimo ristorante che si chiama Marem!
Nota negativa : (premettendo che nei voti di giudizio mi sono mantenuto piu sulla sufficienza) qui lo dico del cambio asciugamano previsto ogni due giorni ma una volta si sono dimenticati per 5giorni e dopo mie proteste (vabbe' come giustamente mi è stato detto sbagliare è umano) si è tornati alla normalità, ma cmq vuoi per igiene vuoi perché vacanza vuol dire per me relax , sta cosa mi ha fatto \"arrabbiare\" e di brutto li, quindi certo nn do lodi ma essendo un buono neanche tolgo!

Perfect hotel for small budget

We just came back from 9 nights in Axos Hotel and we are way more than satisfied; big and confortable room, Hotel staff friendly and helpful, Nice breakfeast with some specialities, free climatisation, nice pool , next to the beach, facilties to park around the Hotel... and much more little details than make us want to come back !

Der lugtede ret meget af røg hele tiden på trods af vi havde et røgfrit værelse - som vi skulle angive. Rengøringspersonalet virkede ret surt en enkelt dag. Air conditionen begyndte at dryppe vand en dag. Sengene var behagelige. Der var et køkken men bestikket mm var meget beskidt og kedlen sprøjtede kogt vand ud over det hele. Tv'et duede. Venligt personale. Tæt på strand som ikke var så god. Badet var lidt svært st stå i fordi det var et kort karbad hvor bunden var formet som et sæde

Parfait pour visiter la région quelques jours.

Secteur ultra touristique mais hôtel familial d'un bon rapport qualité prix pour séjourner qq jours dans la région tout en évitant les hôtels club.

Fantastisk familiedrevet hotell nær stranden

Det føltes nesten ut som egen familie etter kort tid. Veldig hyggelige folk og med god varme og omtanke for gjestene. Har ingenting å utsette på dette hotellet. Hyggelig bar med forskjellige events, 24 timer betjening i resepsjon. Kun resepsjon internett som trakk litt ned for ungenes del.
Veldig behjelpelig når vi trenger det. Anbefales fra meg ;-)

Cet hôtel familial est situé à Platanias tout proche de Rethymnon.
La literie est confortable, la chambre et propres et bien insonorisée. Il y a un grand parking tout proche.
Le personnel est chaleureux

Το προσωπικο και οι ιδιοκτητες αψωγη σε ολλα. Προθυ
μη να σε εξηπηρετησουν και να σε βοηθησουν σε οτι χρειαζοσουν. Πολλυ ανετα δωματια με ολες τις ανεσεις.Κλιματισμος παρα πολυ καλος. Το πρωινο τελειο τα παιδια μου καθε πρωι περιμεναν να δουν τι καινουριο θα συμπεριλαμβανε. Καθε μερα ειχαν το προγευμα τους και κροσθεταν και καποια καινουρια. Το μεσημερι ειχε ωραια φταγμενα και απλα πιατα για να φας κατι ελαφρι.Η τοποθεσια του ξενοδοχειου πολυ καλη, μπορουσες να βρεις οτι ειθελες απο εστιατορια, καταστηματα, super market Ενοικιασεις αυτοκινητων και το κυριοτερο κοντα σε θαλασσα, μπορουσες να περπατησεις δυο λεπτα και εισουν εκει.Επισεις μεσα σε 10 λεπτα μπορουσες να εισαι στο κεντρο του Ρεθυμνου.

Koselig hotell med god service!

Bra og forholdsvis rimelig hotell, grei standard og med sentral beliggenhet til det meste av tilbud man trenger. De ansatte var svært hyggelige, og det var god service.
Det var fint med et eget soverom for oss foreldre og kjekt med et lite kjøkken hvor vi kunne lage litt mat selv. I tillegg til kokemuligheter hadde vi også kjøleskap på rommet, noe som var bra siden det gikk med mye kald drikke i varmen. Det var et eget basseng på hotellet, men ellers var det bare 2-3 minutter å gå ned til den fine stranda. Rett utenfor og i kort avstand fra hotellet har man tilgang til restauranter med mye god mat, matbutikker, bilutleie,barer, minigolf med mer. Vi leide bil i 3 dager, og det var hyggelig å få se mer av øya og blant annet dra på dagstur til Water City. Det var en del biltrafikk i gata utenfor hotellet, men selv for oss som bor på en stille plass på bygda var det ingen problemer å få sove. Vi hadde et fint opphold og kan absolutt anbefale både å reise til dette stedet og bo på dette hotellet. Anbefales!

Die Zimmer sind geräumig, haben eine Küchenzeile und einen Safe.
Sie werden unzureichend und unregelmässig gereinigt, nachts kann es vom Gang her laut werden.
Das Frühstück besteht zum Teil aus vielen Fertigprodukten.

Hotel accueillant très bien situé, proche de tout

L'hôtel est vraiment très bien situé : en plein cœur de Platanias, à quelques mètres de la plage, du supermarché, des restaurants, de l'arrêt du bus et des loueurs de voitures.
Ils organisent des soirées/concerts une fois par semaines, le bar est très sympa !
Le personnel est très sympathique et toujours à votre disposition pour vous aider ou vous renseigner.
Les chambres sont bien décorées, néanmoins, la cuisine et la salle de bain mériteraient un petit coup de jeune.
Point négatif : la bruits provenant de la piscine (clients bruyants) peuvent être assez gênants.

Tolles Hotel in Strandnähe

An dem Aufenthalt gibt es nichts auszusetzen. Wir waren 11 Nächte dort und würden jederzeit wieder dort Urlaub machen. Die gesamte Hotel Anlage war sehr gepflegt. Das Team vom Hotel ist einfach nur sympathisch

Hotel accueillant,

Le personnel est accueillant et serviable, malgré une chambre un peu vetuste. Le buffet petit dejeuner est très copieux et varié ( il change tous les jours ) ce qui nous permet de gouter plusieurs spécialité crétoise . Le soir, le bar de l'hotel s'anime, avec des soirées à thème ( sympa avec des enfants en bas âges). L'hotel se situe a 5 min a pied de la plage.

Je recommande cet hotel

Hatten ein Appartment, alles drinnen! Kühlschrank, Mirkowelle, 2 Platten Herd
Haarföhn im Zimmer
Lage fand ich gut, ein bisschen ausserhalb von der Altstadt (5Minuten mit dem Auto), zum Strand 2 Minuten zu Fuss, Supermarkt, Bars und kleine Souveniershops gleich in der Strasse vor dem Hotel!
Die Coktails in der Hotelbar sind auch sehr gut!
Werden nächstes Jahr wieder kommen!

Nous avons passé un agréable séjour grâce à cet hôtel.
L'accueil y est chaleureux avec les demandes prises en compte rapidement.
Très bien situé, pratique avec de jeunes enfants.

A faire!

Très bon séjour, hotêl bien situé, proche de Rethymnon, à 100m de la plage avec un bar animé mais pas bruyant. Le petit déjeuner était excellent il y avait beaucoup de choix c'était des produits de qualité et nius n'avions pas tout à fait la même chose d'un jour à l'autre. Le personnel est sympathique et accueillant.
Peu cher pour cette qualité de service.

thank You AXOS Hotel!

Good located hotel by the main street, close to shops, taverns etc. Big free car park, very clean rooms. Nice and tasty buffet breakfest with good coffee. Staff were extremely friendly and helpfull, always having smile on their faces :) the only imperfection was the internet only in the lobby. Great drink bar with lot to choose from and a nice sitting places on the comfortable outside sofas. On wednesday evenings there are concerts/events in the bar.

You can't get more for that price!! Thank You very much Axos Hotel - we had a wonderfull stay.
