We stayed at The Hill in late April 2026. It's a great central location to go to Gullfoss, Geysir, several hikes (some that are only accessible in the summer), the only mushroom farm in Iceland and has a cafe, a dairy farm with cafe, and the Secret Lagoon. There's also a great restaurant ten minutes away that specialized in chocolate and langostines. Our room was quite large, which we appreciated. However, we could hear everything other guest were doing - walking or running down the hall, moving hangers in the closet, talking, etc. Our room did not face the courtyard, so to access the area, we would have had to walk to a common doorway - not really that big of a deal. There weren't many common areas for sitting outside of the room, and the room wasn't comfortable for just sitting. The hot tubs were small and kind of distanced from the common doorway. Our patio was small, and you have to access it via a door in the shower. We were given one very flat pillow each, and this was incredibly uncomfortable. Wifi worked well. Hot water ran out for one of my showers, and I had only been in there for three minutes max when my water turned cold. Breakfast was decent, and we chose to eat other meals elsewhere. Overall, good location, nice looking facility, but somethings were just not well conceived or comfortable.

The shower required you to use the provided squeegee which you needed to do or it would have flooded into the rest of the bathroom. The floor was slippery if you walked into the bathroom from the hot tub area. Would highly recommend getting a room that faces the hot tub area as it made it very convenient to access the hot tub.

Room was fine. Only downer was the shower flooding the bathroom floor -a water scraper is provided but a poor design flaw. Consequently the bathroom had a bit of an unpleasant whiff arising from poor drainage i guess. We had access to the 2 hot tubs as part of the room rate - these are shared with certain other rooms. Didn’t use them as went to the nearby Secret lagoon (only minutes away). Unfortunately another couple did so about 23.00 and even though they were not being noisy, their conversation could be heard in our room as the tubs are sandwiched between 2 rows of rooms and sound inevitabily carries.
We ate in the restaurant and were impressed with the food for the evening and the range available for breakfast.

This property has a very nice, convenient restaurant with great food. The staff is very welcoming and the bar is open very late. They provided use of robes for the hot tub. The room was very clean and bigger than a few other places with a nice closet. The bathroom was spacious. We had our own door that led out to the hot tub area. The only room for improvement would have been that the key to the room does not unlock the door to the room from the hot tub area so you either have to prop the door open or find the door that leads into the hallway to get back to your room. Don’t leave your key in your room unless you prop the door open. There is some light pollution in this area from the local greenhouses. It was a great location to visit the Golden Circle and the Secret Lagoon. We would stay here again.

The room amenities and cleanliness were way below our expectations. The room floor was not cleaned properly after the previous guest. After every shower the bathroom floor was flooded so badly since the drainage didn't work properly. After the first day the personnel who cleaned our room take away the tee cups, the receptionist provided them after I went there and complained. The restaurant was nice but 20 minutes before closing our they would not accept new guests.

The property has been nicely updated, for the most part. The room itself was nicely decorated and the door from the showers out to the yard and hot tubs is convenient. Unfortunately, the condition of the bathrooms did not match the rest of the property, with cracked tiles, broken light fixtures and an overall dated feel. Otherwise a great spot right in the golden circle.

Newly renovated, comfortable beds, nice showers, cool little hot tubs in the middle of the property, and beautiful bar/restaurant area. Kind of sad they didn’t let us know about happy hour when we checked in, but they DID honor the Expedia VIP perk for a free drink.
Somewhat of a side note: if you get hot easily, on a sunny summer day, one side of the hotel (where the rooms face the sun all day with their floor-to-ceiling windows) gets REALLY hot. Like a greenhouse. Needless to say, they don’t have AC or fans in Iceland. I had a hard time falling asleep until it got way late and we aired out the room via the mini window.

We would stay here again in a heartbeat. It was a beautiful and unique property. Views from the hotel were breathtaking. The staff was very friendly. The decor was well executed and the hotel restaurant had great food. A great place to rest along the Golden Circle. Close to Geysir, Gullfoss and the Crater. The area around the hotel is rural and gorgeous.

Amazing stay at this boutique hotel. The food was delicious and it was very nicely decorated inside. Two hot tubs outside our rooms where there was also a sunken outside dining area. Unfortunately the weather was not great during our stay so we weren't able to enjoy the outdoor area much but would absolutely stay here again.

Hotel was conveniently located along our route while visiting Iceland. It was reasonably priced, rooms were clean and the dining options were good - they were very flexible. My sister is vegetarian and they had no issues making up a dish for her (that wasn't on the menu). I highly recommend this property.
