The room was very clean! The luxury suite had just enough space for my three adult kids and me, as we were enjoying the family trip of a lifetime. No complaints there. The view was absolutely spectacular—I just couldn’t get enough of it! The sunset… WOW!

This location offered a prime spot to see the Caldera view and the beautiful white buildings on both sides. The only drawback was the beds; they weren’t as comfortable as we’d hoped. They may be fine for those who don’t mind firm mattresses, but the twin bed in the back was so hard that my two adult kids woke up with body aches.

Breakfast was great—plenty of delicious options for all of us. I do wish there had been a phone in the room to contact the front desk or service team more easily. The location was close to many eateries, though since we visited at the beginning of the off-season, we expected some places to be closed.

Otherwise, it was still an amazing stay. We especially loved the hot tubs in the evening while watching the most incredible sunset!

The only good thing about this place was the view. We thought we were paying for luxury and its not. The breakfast was served in takeaway boxes and was never delivered at the time we ordered, always an hour late. The 'fresh' orange juice advertised with the breakfast meals is not fresh. Its a juice box.
The light above the sink in the room was not working and there was no light in the shower. We ordered room service on our last night (pizza) and it was delivered after 2.5 hrs. The hotel receptionist/manager replied to my messages and said its on its way when I was asking after an hour wheres my food, then she said theres a problem in the kitchen and the problem was they lost power. She didn't apologise or bother to tell me there was a problem with the kitchen, she just kept saying my food is coming now, which it wasn't. After my food was finally delivered, she had to come to my room to do the check-out as we were checking out too early the next morning (and they don't start work until 8am) and she said the reason why my food was so delayed was because she didn't see my order on the app because she had so many check-ins that night and was super busy at 8pm at night (yet she replied to my messages telling me my food was coming). The whole story did not line up with the porter who said there was a problem with the app, not the kitchen. I speak Greek so there were no language barriers between myself or any of the staff. This place is definitely not worth the money we paid.

Misleading! The comparison to what was marketed; type of room, privacy from public wondering. (Although it’s on a Public walkway to restaurants, Skaros rock etc) feels like clients privacy is not respected. The last night, before check out, we had a gentleman who did not stay at Sophia. He aimlessly walked right into our suite claiming he was looking for restaurant? Clearly, the area is not marked Private!
Administration staff is not as hospitable as they should be.

Really beautiful hotel, we loved our room and it was in a good location. The one thing I'd suggest is, it was hard for us to find, it's not one location so there was a challenge with that and the breakfast service is nice in theory but often they forgot things or just gave us the wrong breakfast. I feel like a simpler breakfast menu would make it easier. The views were gorgeous though and we loved the private pool.

100% recommend to anyone!! Well... at least someone who does not mind walking up and down a long flight of stairs. We were so happy we decided to stay in this hotel in Imerovigli - quiet and relaxing - far away from the crowded tourist areas of Oia and Fira. You can easily take a taxi to these places and still be able to go back and enjoy some serenity.

Do not get the poets house luxury suite!!

The pictures you have of the poets house luxury suit is not what was seen. The only great thing about this hotel was the view! The room service for food was horrible. We were served breakfast in a box cold, and oil seeping into the box it came in. The omelet was horrible cold and did not taste good. The breads were soggy wet. The pancakes were size like quarters. The only thing fresh was the juice box on. The shower was rusted, I questioned stepping into that shower. The Poet house room was very far from the rest of the Sophia luxury resort.
I had to call the front desk for someone to come and clean the polar pool as it had dead carcass stuck to the rusted water jet. I spent one day in that pool.
Third day we had to ask for towels.
The beds were flat mattresses. That’s not luxury what I paid for. We had no rugs on the dirty floor. I do not recommend this place at all!!

Our family of five stayed at the Sophia Luxury Suites and we loved it. The place looks just like all their promotional photos. The views of the caldera from the front door and personal pool are breathtaking. I highly commend their staff. They were so accommodating. They assisted with arranging transportation to and from the airport, taking our luggage up and down the many steps to our room, delivering a delicious breakfast daily, and really took care of us. Located in the quieter town of Imerovigli, it was not too far a walk from the capital Fira (30 minute walk).

Please note this property does not operate like a normal hotel. It would be more appropriate to think of the rooms as a loose collection of separate rental properties. We were 3 couples booked into 3 rooms and while 2 of the rooms were nice, the 3rd room was a serious disappointment, despite a very similar price tag. It was very small and had a poor layout. Who has a toilet without a door right inside the front door? To their credit, the \"hotel\" offered the 3rd couple very nice alternative accommodation, but in a town 20 minutes away. Despite the above disappointment, the other two rooms were really nice and we enjoyed our stay.

While the location and view were undeniably spectacular, the overall hotel experience was extremely disappointing—especially considering this was meant to be our dream honeymoon. The photos on the website were misleading and did not reflect the actual condition of the room. The space was unclean, with visible stains on the sheets, a filthy sink, and an overwhelming amount of black mold in the bathroom, which triggered severe allergy reactions.

The private pool, which we were told was heated, was ice cold and unusable. The outdoor hot tub barely functioned, with jets that only worked for 30–60 seconds at a time. Despite raising concerns, the front desk claimed they were fully booked and unable to assist due to the high season.

Wi-Fi was down, preventing us from ordering the included breakfast, which forced us to spend extra out of pocket. On top of that, two cats entered our room through the window in the middle of the night—a window the staff insisted we keep open due to humidity and poor ventilation, since the air conditioning barely worked.

We spent over $1200 for two nights expecting a luxurious, romantic experience but left feeling frustrated, uncomfortable, and deeply disappointed. I’m especially disheartened that Expedia would promote such a substandard property.

We booked Sophia “Luxury” Suites expecting a premium experience in Santorini, but were met with poor communication, substandard accommodations, and shockingly rude service.

From the start, the receptionist, Maria, was cold, dismissive, and visibly impatient. Other staff spoke no English, so we had to rely on Google Translate for even basic requests—a frustrating challenge at a hotel claiming to be high-end.

The room, described as “luxury,” smelled of mildew, was not well cleaned, and lacked attention to detail. It fell far short of the standard expected at this price point.

We tried to enjoy the sunset from the spa, which does offer a beautiful view, and ordered dinner. The steak was nearly impossible to chew—but we let it slide. No need to let a tough meal ruin a beautiful evening.

Unfortunately, the spa water was cold. When we asked if it could be warmed, we were told it could only reach 25°C—with no explanation. Later, when the air turned colder, another staff member told us—via Google Translate—it wasn’t his responsibility.

Wrapped in towels, we went to the office, only to be met with hostility. Maria kept interrupting and cited a vague website line about 27°C “for guest comfort.” If it’s cold, how is that comfortable?

When we asked to speak with a manager, she became combative immediately and yelled over us. When we raised our voices just to be heard, Maria shouted “Get out!” and threatened to call the police—for simply asking for help.

Really nice location with spectacular views. However, this is not a traditional hotel, there is no reception, no concierge, no staff on site. Breakfast was delivered to our room but the delivery times varied wildly from the requested times. I assume it's coming from somewhere offsite, the food was barely warm and the coffee was cold. The quantities were ridiculously large, we finished less than half of it every morning.

Also worth noting that the room descriptions were very confusing - we were three couples that booked the exact same room type, except that the room descriptions included a \"2 PAX\", \"3 PAX\" and \"4 PAX\" notation. Each couple book a different one of these and while our 4 PAX room was spectacular and huge, the 2 PAX room was tiny with only one side of the bed having any walking space, and the toilet was right at the room entrance and had no door .

Our room had visible mold everywhere and a strong, overwhelming odor that made it impossible to stay in for even an hour. When we raised our concerns, management’s response was dismissive — stating, “This is Santorini, mold is everywhere.” Just be aware before booking.

Here the bus stop is close (which is preferable for transportation through the island), stores, and a handful of restaurants. We unfortunately didn’t have a good stay at this hotel. Our room was loaded with bugs and then the sheets were stained with what looked like dry blood. We ran out of body soap during our stay and it never got replenished. If it wasn’t considered “luxury” I would rate it differently but there was nothing luxurious about our stay.

However, we receive breakfast every morning and it was on time but the variety was only like 3 options.

Disappointing Experience Despite the Beautiful Vie

We booked the honeymoon suite at Sofia Luxury Suites in Imerovigli primarily for its stunning views—and in that regard, the property truly delivers. The scenery is breathtaking, and the suite itself is visually appealing. However, the overall experience fell well below expectations, especially for a suite marketed as a premium offering.

From the beginning, coordination was poor. Our scheduled pickup was mishandled, which caused us to lose valuable time in the morning. When we reached out via Hotels.com, the receptionist asked for details like our name and address—information that should have already been available in the booking. She also confused our pickup location, which further added to the delay.

The in-suite jacuzzi was not preheated, and we were only told—after expressing our discomfort—that it would take 3–4 hours to warm up. This impacted our ability to enjoy the suite on the first day. Additionally, basic amenities such as coffee were not replenished for the next day, and no universal power adapters were available, which are typically standard in luxury accommodations.

Communication with the staff was extremely difficult, as the receptionist did not understand English well, making it challenging to convey even simple requests. Despite specifically instructing that breakfast should not be cleared and the room should not be serviced while we were out, our breakfast was taken away without permission. I liked that the view was perfect and the room was very cute and comfy. I also liked that the hotel was not directly in the city where it was so crowded.
What i didn’t like though was that i’d get a knock on the door multiple times and i had to unlock the door everytime with the key. i also believe the staff was good overall but i wish the lady who was there would’ve put more effort into resolving our problems with the tv. i went there for my honeymoon and the times we tried to ignore the knocking, they would unlock the door and attempt to come in. breakfast was good but quite small, i wish they would’ve listened to our comments regarding the food but they were ignored. we weren’t told that if you grab something out of the fridge they’d charge you like 2-3x regular price when there’s a market around the corner for a bigger size.

overall it was great location, room, and they were friendly. but the service and privacy should have some improvement. we were wishing for a do not disturb sign. breakfast should also have more options.

Sophia Luxury Suites

Our experience at Sophia Luxury Suites was hands down the worst we've ever had at any so-called \"luxury\" hotel - and that's saying something. From the moment we arrived, it was a disaster.

First, we were placed in the wrong room - not what we had booked or paid for. When we brought it up with the staff, they were dismissive and offered no real solution.
Strike one. They played it off as it was an upgrade when it didn’t have any views of the caldera and had a shared terrace with two other rooms.

Next, we discovered that our room had not even a full roll of toilet paper. That's not just inconvenient - it's completely unacceptable for any hotel, let alone one that pretends to be a four-star luxury property.

The customer service was absolutely atrocious. The staff were unhelpful, unresponsive, and often not even present.
We had confirmed in advance that someone would help carry our bags upon departure (which is important, especially given the many stairs on the property), but when we called in the morning, no one answered. We had to haul everything ourselves - again, not what you expect from a place calling itself\"luxury.\"

This place is all style and no substance - completely misrepresented online. The lack of professionalism, attention to detail, and basic hospitality makes it clear they're only interested in cashing in on Santorini's popularity, not actually providing a quality experience.

Avoid at all costs!

Location was the only good thing about the property. We were there for 5 days. We had a full day and a half with no power. We had a crew of 3 men in our room rewiring it while we laid in bed awkwardly wondering when they would be done. On our last morning we had no water. We were unable to shower or flush the toilet when getting ready for travel and packing. It was incredibly frustrating and no compensation whatsoever for the loss of use of the property was offered.
Before our trip I asked two things of them. I asked if I could have my clothes pressed and hung in the closet and was told of course and it would be a 20 euro charge. When I arrived I sent them a message (through the app they supply for this purpose ) and the reply was “there is an iron in your room”. Secondly I asked if they can please increase the temperature of the pools as I had seen many reviews that the pools were too cold to use and they replied they are always at a very comfortable temperature. They absolutely were not and we were unable to use them.
Lastly we were in the “crypt” room which has a pool in the bathroom. This is a very cool feature for instagram posts but in reality is completely unusable for the temperature is too cold. It also adds a ton of humidity and “pool smell” to the room which makes it hot and humid to sleep because the bed is about 10 feet from this indoor pool.
The location is excellent but other than that, there are many many better properties in the area.

We stayed a week at Sophia Luxury Suites and had a wonderful stay. The location is wonderful - IF you understand the fact that there are stairs - and LOTS of them. Dining options close by - they just opened a restaurant right below the room. Understand that in Santorini and these cave rooms - they are located right along public walkways and the windows are open air. There will be people walking by your room at any hour of the day or night - if you understand that and accept it as part of the experience it is no big deal. We stayed right at the shoulder season and everything was just in the process of opening - the staff were still learning and there were a few bumps in the road - wrong deliveries of room service choices - but nothing major and nothing we were concerned about considering the circumstances. When you choose these locations and travel during the off season - then go in with your eyes open and embrace the experience. We truly enjoyed our stay there and would do so again! The staff was pleasant and attentive - and learning!

Whilst the property itself has excellent views unfortunately the stay was very poor overall. The breakfast arrived with missing items each morning, as our property was close to the kitchen unfortunately you will hear kitchen staff shouting throughout the day. As our room had a generator above there was vibrating all night long, and there’s also a mattress right in front of our window which guests will happily stay on which takes away your privacy. And to top it off cleaners were very poor. We were forced to stand in the rain as a cleaner (in his own clothes, no uniform) knocks on and in 30 whole minutes makes a bed a mops the floor nothing else. Don’t forget the €50 charge for a 12 minute airport transfer. DEFINITELY WOULDNT RECCOMEND!!!

Please ignore all other reviews. This is the only honest review. The view was definitely amazing, it is like this in all of Santorini though. Besides the view I would say this is the worst hotel I’ve stayed at. There is nothing luxurious about it. The pool was cold, the room was dirty with stains, cracks and bugs, it rained and water puddled inside of our room even though everything was closed. Just stay in fira, the view is nice but that feeling goes away after 10 minutes. The breakfast was decent, but this place is definitely not worth the price. It’s not completely terrible but I would not spend more than 50 bucks a night here.

My family and I stayed at the property for 3 days. When we booked our room, we mainly booked it because of the 3 hot tubs being private for us, as well as a private backyard. Once we arrived to the villa, there was someone in the hot tub we thought we had for ourselves. Which wasn’t the case, we only had one hot tub for ourselves. As well as other rooms next to us which we thought it was a whole private area for us. The kitchen was also right next to our room so employees would walk around our “private” area. The descriptions were a little misleading when booking the room. The view was beautiful but the area outside the villa wasn’t the best. Overall we were just there for the view.

I recently stayed at the Sophia luxury suitesl, and it was a delightful service from start to finish. I would not suggest this hotel for disabled or physically impaired people as the hike to the room is an exercise in itself. What annoyed me is that neither Expedia nor the hotel mentioned that this is not suitable for people with disabilities which is a Legal requirement in the United States

Upon arrival, the friendly staff greeted us with warm smiles and provided quick check-in assistance.

The highlight of our stay was undoubtedly the breathtaking ocean view. Each morning, we woke up to the sound of waves crashing and stunning sunrises that painted the sky in brilliant colors. The balcony was a perfect spot to enjoy coffee while soaking in the scenery. Just didn’t realize that it was a shared space with two other room.

The room itself was spacious, clean, and well-appointed, featuring modern amenities that made our stay comfortable. The hotel also offered a plunge pool area overlooking the ocean, which was a great place to relax and unwind.

Dining at the hotel’s restaurant was complicated but the staff was very very attentive and had great communication via WhatsApp. The service was prompt and attentive, enhancing our dining experience.

Overall, I highly recommend the Sophia Luxury Hotel for anyone looking for a serene getaway with stunning views and excellent service. However if you have physical disabilities, go elsewhere. The staff is amazing

The most obvious is the unreal views that this property offers. Best sunset views compared to anywhere else on the island. Really loved the decor of the Enigma suite. We were there in July so it was extremely hot and I loved the cool interior due to it being inside a cave.
Staff is very helpful and accommodating. In general nothing but great hospitality around the island. I will definitely stay at this property again.

This property is the place to go for a special occasion. It is safe for solo travel. The beautiful views from this property are amazing. I expected to wait until check-in, but the room was ready and they allowed me to go in super early. The staff goes above and beyond to make you feel welcomed and to have an enjoyable stay. Honestly, it was so bad we lasted one night. Best way I can describe this hotel is camping in a RV for $600/per night. We will never come back to this place and do not book this place. It’s not worth it at all. It’s gross dusty so small can’t even put your luggage down. Also, the toilet doesn’t have a door. The shower you can barely turn around in and I’m 5’3. You know the feeling of when you shower when you go camping you don’t feel completely clean this is exactly how I felt here. We checked in around 4pm and we left by 8am the following morning. Also, lots of false advertisement on amenities and they claim private this private that and then you show up and that’s not it at all. Would not recommend at all. Do not come here. Also, the toiletries isn’t changed after each guest. It’s like a communal

We had booked a 2-night stay, but due to my husband's cardiac condition, we could only stay one night as it was difficult for him to move around in the area. We informed the staff of our situation at check-in. Despite this, the hotel refused to refund us for the second night. I would never go there again. you can never trust this hotel.

I can’t say enough good things about this hotel. From day one they were so welcoming and helpful. They offered wonderful breakfast every morning, with a great array of options and also made me a to-go breakfast early in the morning before I headed off on an excursion. If you like being active, it’s a great walking distance (30/40min) to Fira, the hub of the city, and just off the hiking path to Oia.
Beautiful terrace and nearby restaurants if you prefer to stay close and just enjoy the view. Thank you so much Sophia Luxury Suites for making this a lovely first trip to Santorini!

This place was perfect for our family. The staff are very friendly and accommodated us very well when we needed extra beds (even included a free dinner for the inconvenience). The hotel dealt with all of our transportation and the free breakfast was wonderful. Absolutely beautiful view and perfect for families looking to relax and sit out in the sun. Also very good for sunset and sunrise if anyone is concerned. Would definitely recommend again!

Nuestras expectativas eran muy grandes, hay que reconocer que la habitación tiene una excelente vista, sin embargo la habitación que nos tocó está en muy malas condiciones, se ve vieja, la primera noche no tuvimos agua y los baños no servían, además había un olor desagradable. Todas las mañana tuvimos inconvenientes con la coordinación del desayuno. Las muchachas de la recepción muy atentas y siempre dispuestas a ayudarnos, a pesar de esto nuestra experiencia no fue la mejor. Y en otra ocasión buscaría otra opción.

The location of the property is awesome. The view from the front of the room is breathtaking. Sunsets here are incredible. To try to get there with your luggage is VERY tricky. Alot of steps, rocks and very steep. No signs, you can get lost very quickly. Once you get to the room though, which is a small house, you’ll love it. It’s very cute. The bathroom though is in desperate need of repairs and remodeling, old, outdated, there’s no shower head, so it’s very difficult to shower. To me the views compensated everything!!

We arrived to this property on our honeymoon for three nights. The staff greeted us and showed us to our room, which was VERY tiny. Bathroom did not have a door, only a curtain in the unit that we had. There was a screened opening (could not be closed) in the toilet area that was directly connected to the neighbours pool, which allowed zero privacy and kept us up most of the night. We asked for a refund for the next two nights but they denied us and told us we can be moved on the third night only. Thankfully we were able to have a normal hotel room with privacy for our final night. Be aware that breakfast was also late every morning and freezing cold. This experience gets a 3 star because of the views and the third night stay only.

I’ll give a honest review based on our stay. We were suppose to stay at Sophia luxury suite Fira but the day we landed, we got a message the room is not available so shifted us to a different property, called Sophia oia view. We checked in late, and literally had to carry four suitcases a flight of stairs on our own that too in the rain. Ok! So the view was very nice but no sunset view from the room. The room is located legit on the street where everyone passes by ( no privacy what so ever) definitely NOTTTT a honeymoon place. Outdoor hot plunge pool was not working ( which was a main reason we spent so much money). Had to ask to get breakfast everyday ( SAMEE exact meal every morning). WiFI for the most part was non existent. No reception desk, you have to contact them only through whats app, in return with passive aggressive replies. And be careful, cave is with asymmetric low ceiling and you can bang your head hard. All in all, Housekeeping was great!
Had to check out to a different more welcoming resort.

Enigma suites aren’t as described

Very misleading photo and description of enigma suites. This was not only a shared terrace between 3 rooms, but it didn’t have anywhere to lie down and was the main walk way from the kitchen and staff toilet so it was very busy and noisy. We booked this last minute and when we arrived and realised it wasn’t what we expected we asked if we could cancel as the room didn’t match it’s description but we weren’t able to, which felt quite unfair. The manager moved us along one room which helped a little (as the first room opened right out onto the kitchen so was very noisy.

The staff we’re very kind and friendly though. It was just a disappointment versus the description and photo.

Looked nothing like the pictures online, the room we got was more like a 2 star hotel. We got a $1300 a night Crypt Suite and it was worse than anything I’ve stayed in and I’ve been around the world all over. It was run down, smelled, and old. Only thing was some of the staff and the view, but you can get that anywhere else. We saw much cheaper hotels around the same area with much nicer accommodations, do yourself a favor and don’t get cat fish by the pictures.
