Stayed for four nights. First room smelled like smoke. Informed front desk and was provided a new room which smelled equally bad. Was then informed that there were no other rooms available. I suspect it is their whole ventilation system which circulates air with smoking rooms. Air conditioning worked but was extremely underwhelming. Overall, hotel condition reflects its age which is not flattering.

Nice hotel lack of English spoken

Hotel staff were friendly but there was a lack of English spoken which made moving around the hotel difficult and had to resort to a translation app. The front desk staff helped me out with a lot of things as it is hard to communicate and they were kind and supportive.

The reception upgraded us to a suite and we are grateful for the extra mile. Though the hotel is dated and needs some renovations, we are glad that the suite is comfortable and the beddings / towels / pillows are relatively new and well maintained. The tables and drawers / bathroom tiles clearly need some refurbishing.

The hotel itself is beautiful, clean, comfortable and in a wonderful and perfect location. The problem lies in the staff and the weird hotel policies. You need a swim cap to swim in the hotel pool, which is 1. Unnecessary, 2. A bit backwards considering that’s not how you keep a chlorinated pool clean, and 3. A luxury ruiner. I found that very stupid and therefore offensive to my trip, to be honest. Additionally, I understand that I should be speaking Chinese in China, so that’s on me; but when I asked two front desk staff members about the pool opening and closing times, they couldn’t answer me in any language. I guessed several different times in attempt to get an answer, and they responded “yes” to each of the different times that I asked about. Also, when arriving, people cut the check in line in front of me and the hotel staff happily helped them despite seeing us standing right there directly behind them. Again, stupid and offensive, and a luxury ruiner. Despite the backwards policies and the poorly trained and inconsiderate staff, the hotel itself is absolutely fabulous, no joke. Also, the ayis cleaning our rooms were super sweet and did such a great job. They asked us as we arrived “so you need any help” like man, how sweet, and what good service.

Great location and helpful staff. The only disappointing aspect was not being able to use the pool as they required a swimming cap which i did not have. One could be purchased but it would have been better if this requirement was specified upfront.

The hotel in general is old and has an odor. Location is Ok as it is still close to city center. I usually will not book this hotel but there are 2 major country wide events starting that day so lots of hotels are full and getting very expensive. On the whole the hotel is liveable but not comfortable.

This is not a new hotel in Qingdao, the room cleanliness is not very good. I can feeling the dust, not sure is from the rug or air-condition.

Everything was great with this hotel, especially it’s staff members, very courteous and helpful. Location is excellent for shopping, eating and transport. When the subway line it’s done, there will be a station in front of the hotel. The only negative comment is it’s a bit dated.

had a good service... the food ordered for room service can definitely be warmer. Surrounding area is pretty much at the heart of the city so if you are looking for \"quiet\" place, this is not for you.
Staff speaks english so communication isn't much of a problem. Rooms need somewhat(or major) facelift since its been there over a decade. If for the business matters, I can see myself being there again.

Hotel is nice with good location, room facility is ok. But I smell smoke on the corridor even though we chose nonsmoking floor. Service staffs are good although they are not much fluent in English. Concierge staffs need to trim to speak English too. Overall is ok!

Nice stay spoilt by an unfortunate incident.

The stay was fine and the staff were friendly but unfortunately I found a sewing needle on the floor of the room by stepping on it. The room was otherwise in good condition and the staff were helpful after finding out that I had the incident. I am sure no one meant to leave a needle on the floor and staff offer medical supplies and antiseptic followed by fruit plates.

good location for all activity and Jasco Japanese supermarket and mall
is right next of hetel and very convenient for anything you need.

there is good pool and sauna facility and you could have very
good refreshing time at the start of the day and the end of the day.

only problem is reception desk and the number of stuff is too small
against this size of hotel ,so likely take longer time for check in and check out.

The location of this hotel is great, close by supermarkets and stores. My room on Club floor is spacious but need renovation.
I so happened stayed at this hotel during National holiday and the hotel was filled with tourists,which is a bit too busy for business traveller like myself. They do not change bath slippers on daily basic. The conditions and standard of this hotel fall short of other Crown Plaza perhaps of its \"age\".
I won't say that I will not be back but I surely would think twice before I book again.

I have stayed multiple time at this hotel for Business. I particularly like the location. It is walking distance from a lot of shopping as well as the Marina. There is also a New York Bar/pub a block away with decent live music every night. Nice place for a drink.

The staff is good. The room was very nice and comfortable.

I don't suggest eating at the Italian restaurant on site. The service is slow and the food just average. But then again what shall one expect from an Italian Restaurant in China? The breakfast buffet on the other hand is good.

Disappointing but well placed for business

The hotel was disappointing and did not live up to the Crowne Plaza reputation that I expected.
The hotel is in need of modernization and is looking a little dated and tired.
The breakfast buffet provided a reasonable mix of East and West but many of the \"hot\" offerings were cold, as was the restaurant itself.
Staff at the front desk and concierge were willing and helpful, but their efficacy was hindered by a surprising lacking of in proficiency in English. For an international hotel, I would expect good English to be a must. For example, getting details about train tickets and how to buy a local sim card were confusing and wrong.

solid choice in Qingdao

Came here for business for 4 days. The hotel staff is very accommodating and friendly. English is ok for most staff members. There is a currency exchange in the hotel. The pool facilities are cool. The breakfast buffet is ok - not bad but not great either. There are western and chinese choices and the staff is very helpful. The buffet gets 4 out 5 stars. Good location for the hotel near the sea and generally good neighborhood. Normal chinese rules of the road apply - bring your patience and know that things will be off at times. Wifi can be very slow but then internet and cell service was super slow in Qingdao in general - get the 4G upgrade - its worth it.

Nice hotel. They were updating the elevators so there was sometimes a wait, but overall it was a great hotel. Close to the Qingdao Olympic center, good restaurants and shopping. And the staff was always courteous. THe rooms are getting a little old, but comfortable and clean.

Great place, very hi end and great location.

Everything was excellent except the air conditioning, we could not get the room cool. The staff was responsive but even after the maintainence dept looked at it we could never make the room cool enough. The rest of the experience was excellent.

It's a good hotel with decent facilities, and polite/helpful staff etc. Unfortunately, the breakfast buffet was just not ready for the extra visitors during the Chinese holiday. The food ran out constantly, with staff that were just over-whelmed not being able to keep up. What's disappointing is that these holidays are well known, and they are known to be busy so I would have expected a hotel of this size and age would have been prepared like other comparable hotels.

Hotel is in city center and easy to access to all major commercial as well as to all attractions. Heavy traffic is an issue which to be considered. hotel is perfect and staffs are very friendly. Pool makes the hotel friendly for business as well as for all travelers.

The hotel had amazing service and there was always an English speaking staff available to translate. They arranged rides for us to and from different places, recommended wonderful restaurants, and provided many items we left in Beijing. I highly recommend this hotel.

Wonderful hotel in Qingdao. We lucked out and got an upgrade to a suite for only 150RMB / night. The location was about a 15-20 minute cab ride to the old town portion and maybe 30-40 minute cab ride to the Tsingtao brewery.

All in all the location could be more convenient to those areas in Qingdao but the hotel itself was spectacular. Cabs are so cheap in China too.

Great Place, Amazing Breakfast Buffet - Just Make Sure Your Rate Includes It

Nice room - our King Junior Suite was spacious and comfy. Though not a beach hotel, the location is near the ocean and the 2008 Olympics sailing pier.
There is a large shopping mall next to the hotel with a supermarket and some western food options (Mc Donalds, ice cream shop and a pizza place that delivers) as well as local seafood restaurants, coffee shops, banks and Carrefour, all within 20 minutes walk.
The hotel's breakfast buffet was excellent, though we paid out of pocket (25 USD per person) when the hotel denied that our rate included breakfast.
There is a bowling alley which made for fun on a rainy March eve.

this is a great hotel to stay at the rooms are very clean,they have a springwater tap in the bathroom which is good if your an overseas traveller
the food is great room service is fantastic they have a gym and a health club
they also have a bowling alley downstairs and a swimming pool so if the weather is not the best outside there's plenty to do inside
