We had a room, two level with kitchen area and balcony. The aspect was away from the sea overlooking a small shopping street. This was good because it was quiet at night the rooms to the front would of been noisier with all the restaurants and bars overlooking the sea.

My only bad experience was partly my fault, in that I hadn't closed the doors to the balcony, and I was right above the \"boardwalk\", and a couple of gals talking loudly, woke me up at 4 a. m. So, close the doors, and turn on the air conditioning! Closing the doors blocked out a lot of sound. The room was wonderful, (except a window was dysfunctional) the views fabulous, and the breeze enchanting! Be aware that there is no parking close by.

Just need to decide when I'll be back!

The hotel is easily accesible to all the key sights in Rethymno town and has very friendly and helpful staff who are happy to ensure you have the best stay possible.
My late check-in was seamless and the room was beautifully arranged in addition to being very comfortable.
Breakfast is one of the best I've had on holiday - a wide selection and generous portions helped to set each day up for explorong the town and its surroundings.

We stayed at Civitas for 9 days and it was a wonderful experience . The location in Old Town
Was the Best!
We can’t say enough about the Staff, they were all so welcoming and helpful we really felt at home here . Our breakfast was amazing lovely area to enjoy the morning as well beautiful view of the harbour .
If you don’t like stairs than I would recommend one of the apartments that are all on one level . Very beautiful and spacious .
We will recommend this unique hotel to any friends we know that are coming to Beautiful Rhythmno ❤️😊

Fantastic Hotel & brilliant location

From the moment we arrived, we were treated like VIPs. A warm welcome and shown to a stunning suite, with a balcony with a sea view

The bed was so comfy & the towels were soft & fluffy. The rooms were sparkling clean

It is located very close to everything. The Fortress, Lighthouse, Beach, harbour and old town are moments away , on foot

The breakfast was delicious with so much choice. You eat it on the terrace on front of the hotel, overlooking the sea.

A wonderful stay in a beautiful resort. I cannot recommend this hotel more highly. Fabulous service & staff.

It was a great spread for breakfast which was included with our reservation: coffee, orange juice, toast with butter, jam and hazelnut spread, omelette with your choice of toppings and a bowl of fresh fruit. The hostess was very helpful in explaining where we could park our car for free nearby. Overall, it was a wonderful experience for a one night stay.

A birthday I’ll never forget

I visited Civitas last week and what an experience it was! Me and my partner were made to feel at such ease and the hospitality there was amazing. She surprised me with the help of Agapi and Peta. A special mention to Chrysaa, Agapi, Peta for arranging transport and always fulfilling our requests.

A special also to George the waiter at Civitas restaurant who always made us feel welcome with his warm personality.

PS: the Shisha there is one of the best I’ve ever had.

Less good points: room, standard with sea view, VERY cramped; no telephone; no hospitality tray (but supplied on request); no drawers for storage and hardly any usable space; late night noise from neighbouring cafes; no breakfasts served.

Our stay at Civitas was simply amazing. The location was perfect, seafront, lively but not noisy in our suite, and in the old town area of Rethymnon which is beautiful. The decor of hotel is very luxurious. Room was very spacious, with the bed being above living area, and includes all that you might need. If you need something extra, all you need to do is ask, and it will be provided right away. Room was cleaned and towels changed daily. All staff were so nice and friendly, especially Agapi, who was always ready to help and offer suggestions. Breakfast was good and available till 11.30am. We had dinner at the restaurant, and loved the greek specialities. Customer service at the restaurant is fantastic too, the staff were so friendly and attentive. Cleanliness throughout the hotel and restaurant were exemplary. All I can say is that we would definately love to stay at Civitas again, and will surely recommend it to others.

Lovely hotel with wonderful staff.

My partner and I stayed here in July 2017 for 10 days. We had a Balcony Delux Suite which was clean, comfortable amd unique it had a spa bath, which I didn't think I would really use but it was very relaxing. A useful shower head was attached too. Very comfy bed and pillows and a good hairdryer - if you need one. We also enjoyed the breakfast and alongside greek yoghurt and spinach and feta pastries, eggs can be cooked to order too.
It's a short walk to well kept beaches and the hotel is in the old town so close to history and shops.
Downsides: very thin walls and we were kept awake a couple of nights which isn't great on holiday.
Lots of pigeon mess on the balcony every morning and although it was cleaned off later it was unusable for breakfast which was a shame. We mentioned it and the staff were aware. The problem could be sorted easily by placing a small strip of spikes above the window to stop them landing. I would have liked a warning the first night so I knew not to dry towels out there!
The room had a little kitchen and you can ask for utensils if you need them. However, it seems as though you're expected to wash up yourself so bring washing up liquid and dish cloths if you go! Although it is a hotel it felt a bit like serviced apartments on that front.

Overall we really enjoyed our stay and the staff are lovely and is generally quiet.

The staff was incredibly helpful. They even made sure we got a breakfast to go when we knew we would miss it because of an early flight out of town. Breakfast was delicious, and they were really accommodating of our 6 month old. Only downside is that if you choose a sea view room, you can hear bass from the nearby restaurants until about 1 or 2 AM. It's not too bad, but if you're sensitive... Luckily we had a sound machine to drown out some of it.

Pleasant place right near heart of the action

Had a room not facing outside so didn't hear craziness of outside. Really well located near the Venetian Port & a million restaurants. Staff was very nice. Wish beds were more comfortable and baths had shower curtains so you didn't need to be so careful showering. Great wifi btw. Overall pleasant experience.

Very friendly staff, great location on main promenade with restaurants, shopping and attractions. Nice simple breakfast on large outdoor terrace.
My only comment would be buy few beach towels for clients, even if you charge a little extra for them!
Otherwise a friendly small boutique hotel with excellent location and good service.

Beautiful Venetian Escape Space

My husband and I stayed at Civitas Boutique Hotel for 5 nights and loved every second spent there! The staff at Civitas e-mailed us to inform us of some details a few days prior to our arrival in case we needed them. As we were trying to locate the hotel, one of the staffers came to us and helped usher us to the main office. Nikos at the main office checked us in and recommended absolutely delicious restaurants to us where the locals like to eat and hang out. The room we stayed in was breathtaking and large! It came with a jetted tub, kitchenette, living space, and a lofted bedroom for not a hefty price at all. We could not believe how large it was! The architecture in it is beautiful as well. My husband and I were just amazed by the room and we even had a nice waterfront view that we were not expecting. We were able to relax at the nearby beach or in the jetted tub, sleep in when we wanted to, and wander around all of Reythmno with ease. After we rented a car, we could park at the port nearby for cheap and not too long of a walk. Highly recommend this beautiful, well located hotel.

Great location: beach front right within the hub of all the restaurants/shops/bars - which get very busy! Good vibe for young couples wanting a balance between nightlife and relaxation.
Spacious, luxurious room with strong aircon and wifi.

-The room did have a bit of an odd smell to it.
-On our last day breakfast was really disappointing - arrived cold after waiting 40 minutes and after complaining about this we were brought a second, cold breakfast.

Juste convenable. La chambre doit être en permanence éclairée car très sombre. Elle est spacieuse avec une belle boiserie.
Les serviettes de toilettes étaient elimees et les joints de la baignoire sont noirs de moisissures et doivent être changés. On a même trouvé des restes d'ongles coupés ds les toilettes derrière la porte.

L'hôtel est dans un magnifique bâtiment historique en plein centre-ville, face à la mer, décoré avec beaucoup de goût. Toutefois le petit-déjeuner est servi tard, à partir de 8h30, c'est gênant quand on prévoit des visites guidées dans la journée. Par ailleurs, la taxe de séjour de 10€ par chambre et par nuit, c'était une mauvaise surprise. Le site Hotels.com ne m'avez pas prévenu de ces frais supplémentaires.

Chilly/cold hotel room, helpful staff

When I stayed there in the end of Jan.2025 the indoor temperature in the hotelroom was only 18-19 degrees Celsius. Like most people I am used to about 21 deg. C, so it was not warm at all indoors. Two receptionists tried on two different days to adjust the AC to warm up the room, with no luck. The AC was new but the air that it blew out into the room had the same temperature as the air in the room. Other than that the receptionists helped me find out that Avast AntiVirus made it impossible to get the wi-fi working, and when I removed it from the laptop it worked very well. Cleaning was very good, seaview was good, but they did not serve breakfast at this time of the year. Which sent me out wandering up and down the seaside promenade to find a place that served something somewhat similar to breakfast. Good location but the restaurant/bar/cafe area outside the hotel was noisy in the evenings. With closed window the noise was kept out.

O hotel se encontra bem no meio do comércio e isso é um ponto super positivo, porém, se trata de uma edificação antiga e sem elevador. Para quem tem malas mais pesadas, é complicado. Não tem estacionamento próprio e nem perto. O café da manhã é um pouco confuso, pois é servido no restaurante em frente ao hotel e antes de sentar, vc precisa parar na recepção e escolher o que quer comer e beber. Pra quem quer lugar agitado, é uma ótima pedida

Sehr schönes kleines Hotel in perfekter Lage.
Leider war die Toilette zwar mit Desinfiziert Banderole versehen, aber in der Toilette und an der Klobrille waren noch Spuren des Vorgängers. Ein no go!!!!!
Frühstück gibt es erst ab 8:30 Uhr im daneben liegenden Lokal. Auf Wunsch eher auch nicht möglich

Der empfang war sehr freundlich und die Dame sehr hilfsbereit. Unser Zimmer/Studio war sehr schön und geräumig. Allerdings gehen die Fenster und der Balkon in die Innenseite des Hotels, d.h. ins Treppenhaus. Was bedeutet, dass es keine Frischluft gibt. Uns hat das für eine Nacht gestört, für einen längeren Aufenthalt wäre ist für uns nicht akzeptabel gewesen.
