The staff was extremely friendly and the location for the music festival was PERFECT! The rooms had a weird smell. It was moldy and musty-smelling, and we changed our room, hoping it would be better, but it was only slightly better. The balcony was nice and there was plenty to do locally within walking distance.

Very good location close to boardwalk. Staff was super nice and attentive. Check-in was easy. Room was clean but smelled a bit musty. Parking with a large SUV or truck would be a nightmare during peak season. You can’t get through the lanes when people don’t know how to pull forward enough and you could be trapped in the lot.

It was central to everything, which was nice. However, we paid for a double queen room. It was not a queen. My husband is 5’7 and I am 5’5, with our pillows at the top of the bed our feet were touching the bottom of the bed. A standard queen is 80 inches as a full is 75 inches. When I had made mention of it, it was suggested I had an extra large queen? Unfair we paid for something we didn’t get. But the hotel was clean, outside of that the service was nice and location was great!

Hotel was nice, location is excellent, it’s a block off the boardwalk and has great access to all the shops and restaurants. The rooms are fairly modern, have been updated recently, but there are some areas that can still use some help. The balcony lights suck!!!!! They are very bright, be nice if they had a light switch to turn them off. I would advise taking some black tape to put over them if you like it dark at night. The pool is fairly small, but we don’t really use the pool when at the beach. The parking is tight, we had a car and it fit ok, but it would be a struggle with a big SUV or truck. Overall, I would stay here again.

Liked the spacious room. Liked the patio, however, it’s unfortunate that the patio light stays on all night. Our blackout curtains didn’t quite cover the windows and the room was lit up while trying to sleep.

Our room had an AWFUL smell when we arrived. We tried airing it out and I sprayed fabreeze throughout. However the smell kept coming back. I also noticed part of the carpet was wet. Then the smell made sense because it was like wet dog/mold smell. After the 2nd night I spoke with the manager and she was so nice and told us they would get it figured out. When we came back later that day they had written us a note and refunded part of that first night's stay. This manager was extremely sweet. Buttttt unfortunately the smell never went completely away. On our last night i received a call in the late afternoon and they asked if they could put a waterproof mattress protector on our bed because apparently the maids complained that the bed was soaked everyday (which is such a lie). This manager i spoke with was EXTREMELY rude, so I told them that they really needed to do something about the awful smell in the room before they put new guests in there and she had the nerve to tell me that the smell was from the mattress getting wet everyday. I said hmm thats awful funny seeing how that smell was here the second we checked in, and our bed never was wet. So due to this manager and her rudeness and accusations my entire outlook on this hotel changed from okay/good to bad. And its a shame because the first manager was so nice and tried doing everything she could for us and I really appreciated her.
Nice thing is the location but unfortunately next year we will stay somewhere else.

He love everything about the gateway. We stay there every year when we go to ocean city. The whole place is spotless and the employees are great. We love the location, its near all the places that we like to go. The housekeepers are amazing so we usually get into our rooom early. The front desk staff is very friendly and helpful.

My family and I spent a night here and it was great. We loved how we could walk to the beach and see it from our balcony. The room was very clean. The only downside was the parking, it was a very tight fit and we had to do a 12 point turn just to get out of our parking spot. But it didn’t matter much because we could walk right down to the board walk for everything so the car really just stayed put.

Hotel is in a prime location for many walking distance destinations- beach, boardwalk, food, convenience items etc. Staff is pleasant, the room was clean and presented nicely with amenities. The pool, while I did not use, appeared well maintained and clean. Parking is a bit tight so consider the type of vehicle, you’re bringing. Overall, a strong YES recommendation for anyone considering booking!

I really loved the laid back vibe of staff and hotel guest. The hotel is only one block from the beach/boardwalk. A STOP sign at the crossing would be great but I'm sure it's not up to the hotel. Housekeeping actually came each day the service request sign was placed on the door, which seems rare these days. It would have been nice to have a microwave in the room but the one in the cafe are was easily accessible.

Our family had a great time there, we njoyed our room and everyone was very friendly. My favorite art was the balcony, My only complaint is the shower in our room shot water to the back of the shower and not it the tub, but it worked fine otherwise. It was just the inconvenience of showering the kids, so water wouldn’t be flooding the floor. So they just need to adjust the shower.

If you've been to OCMD before, or any of the mid Atlantic shore sorta, you know there aren't any Ritz level places to stay. However, between price, location and cleanliness, I think Gateway is one of the best options.

Always pretty well maintained, friendly staff, tight but ample parking, and a block from the boardwalk. Pretty hard to beat.

Overall was a great stay for the price only thing lacking is a bigger pool. The pool was way too small for the occupancy the hotel can handle. Found myself waiting to get in the pool for upwards of 1-2 hours. I was leaving the hotel and going to the boardwalk in hopes someone would leave.

The Gateway was really excellent value for a cost. Staff was very friendly and helpful. My family has stayed in many places around Ocean City and this location was great for us. The lobby was extremely inviting and my son loved the complimentary coffee / hot chocolate bar. The pool area was clean and comfortable. We definitely can't say enough good things about this place.

Gateway is the perfect place to stay in OC! It is updated and very clean! The staff is friendly and more than accommodating! The pool is small but perfect if you want a break from the beach. Perfect location! 1 block from the beach and boardwalk! I’ve stayed many places in OC over the years and Gateway has become one of my favorites! Will definitely stay here again!

The cleaning gales were over nice! The eating area coffee bar was very nice. The 2 extra TV's in the hugh lovely lobby was really nice. We did watch the news.
The smell in the lobby as soon as you opened the front doors was simply amazing!!!!All I can say, we will stay here again. Already told my friends.
