This historic mansion, one of Rethymno's oldest, showcases Venetian urban architecture. The 22 junior suites, suites, and maisonettes have been skillfully restored with respect to the building's rich history.

Window was left open prior to arrival and we had numerous flying bugs in the room. Given it is an old property the amenities, specifically in the bathroom, were lacking. High step in tub, narrow and difficult to shower in. I regret not being able to recommend this hotel.

The hotel is located on the edge of old town, by the bay and next to the Venetian Fortress. It has a convenient parking onsite which is a big plus for a hotel located in old town Rethymno. The room is clean and the staff very friendly and welcoming. The location is ideal for exploring old town and surrounding area. Rethymno Beach is on 15 minutes walk away. Dining options in old town is endless.

Hotel in a lovely position right near the castle and old town, great for exploring and loads of restaurants nearby. The \"suite\" was a little underwhelming - just a small extra room with a mini-kitchen, table and single bed all wedged in. Breakfast had a good variety and the public areas were clean and quiet, but could have done with something to give some shade for the roof terrace.

Adonis was a gracious host, and we especially enjoyed talkig with Nikki, who was part of the staff. Our apartment was spacious, and had a nice balcony with a nice city view that also looked out on the Fortezza. Adonis oriented us to the neighborhood with suggestions and a map. We had kitchen facilities that were very convenient and our bed and air conditioning made our sleep very comfortable. We were even able to easily extend our stay on short notice. We definitely recommend Palazzo Vecchio!

A very warm welcome from the manager on arrival. The room was large with a fridge. The breakfast was very good. The location was excellent right by the old quarter. The car park was excellent and we left our car there the following morning after checkout which was handy. We were sorry only had one night there.

Under the castle walls in Rethymnon, ideal position to dump car and head out to many of the eateries and shops, the Palazzo Vecchio is a small quiet hotel with nice friendly staff.

A very nice hotel located a short walk from the centre of the old town with lots of restaurants. Staff were friendly and helpful. Beware the ground floor rooms around the courtyard if you like a morning lie in. They can be noisy with people taking early breakfast in the courtyard.

We don’t often write reviews, but felt we had to because it is such a gem of a place to stay. A renovated, authentic building - not just any old boring hotel. Reasonably priced.

The staff were absolutely lovely and the rooms kept beautifully throughout our stay. Relaxing to eat breakfasts in the cosy courtyard around the marble plunge pool. A good centre to take a ferry across to Santorini for the day and visit Heraklion, Prevali and Arcadi monasteries.

Good 3 star level hotel. Does the basics well. Don’t expect too much gloss though -rooms are clean and adequate but a bit tired, ‘queen’ bed two singles pulled together, breakfast is average. On the edge of Old Town but within 8 min walk to sea front, good restaurants near by that are not as noisy as the ones in the town Hotel staff could not do enough for young were very informative.On Tuesdays and Saturdays in season you can get the boat to Santorini for a day trip long day but you wouldn't. need more than a day there.

Hotel in good location with large carpark. Very pleasant courtyard with pool - bit small to swim in... Room was described as a suite but bedroom and bathroom were very small. Hotel has sunbathing area on roof as well. Breakfast was good - pleasant to take into courtyard.

Lovely stay nice and quiet. A little bit difficult to find initially especially by car but once found it all fell into place. The owner was fantastic and went out of her way to make you welcome. Nothing was too much trouble. Lovely little courtyard to have breakfast or just sit quietly and relax. We only had one night so didnt get to explore a lot of the town but certainly gave it our best shot.

Only stayed 1 night but wished we had longer. Hotel is in the old part or the town. Restoration of the house is tastefully don't and our room had a kitchen and a private terrace which we didn't expect. Spotlessly clean and comfortable. Check in was efficient and we were given a welcome drink and Cretan delight. The reception staff are very helpful and go out of their way to make your stay in the town enjoyable. Arrived late at night by bus from Heraklion. We followed the instructions we received from the hotel and walked the ten minutes from the bus station to the hotel. Easy to find. We were warmly received and provided with great information on what to do and where to eat during our stay.
We were upgraded to a larger room which was very nice. Bed was great, room well appointed and clean. A key, available from reception, is required for the safe.
The hotel is close to the fortezza, old town, shopping and restaurants. The police station is right next door so you feel vey safe.
During our stay, we went to four of the six restaurants as advised by the hotel and each one was excellent.
A bit of a walk to the sandy beach but there is a rocky beach close by.
Our air conditioner malfunctioned on the Friday night. The staff did everything possible to get it fixed on the Saturday and when that wasn't possible, we were offered an alternate room for the Saturday night. They worked hard to get a technician to fix it on the Sunday. He turned up late in the afternoon and fixed it. All good after that. Excellent service from the hotel.
Breakfast was tasty and we ate it out by the pool area each morning. The hotel was very popular and we would highly recommend it as a great place to stay.

We liked very much the staff and the breakfast. They have fresh fruit and juice, delicious bread, and much more (all we needed). The hotel is in a quite area but close to the main attractions. The room is big, but the bed not very comfortable.

Our stay at the Palazzo was amazing! The staff were incredible. Anytime we asked them for tour information, event details or anything else about Rhethymno or Crete they would set us up with everything we needed. The hotel breakfast is good, it's what you expect from continental breakfast but we loved it because we didn't have to go out and sit for breakfast and it tastes good! As well, on our last day we were leaving earlier than breakfast so they opened early for us! They cleaned the rooms everyday and the room was always in great condition. The bathrooms were very clean as well! Looked new too. Nothing bad to say about the hotel and the staff at all!! It was great. The only slight problem we had was the location (very slight problem). It was right beside/in the Old City and the old city walls (you can see them right out your window) which was great and had parking which is rare but, to get to the main beach where there are umbrellas and chairs and such was at least a 15min walk. Which isn't a big deal if your okay with walking. There was closer beaches but not many people were there and no chairs or umbrellas. So it all depends on what your looking for. Besides this one thing, this hotel is perfect! I would definitely recommend this hotel to my friends and family. Also, there is a small pool to hangout in if you wanted. No room to really swim but great for a relaxing couple hours. Can't wait to go back!

This is a charming boutique hotel. Rooms are very comfortable and air-conditioned and furnished to a good standard. Staff are extremely helpful and recommended some great places to go. You can walk into town down the narrow streets in the evening. Really lovely. Very nice breakfast buffet and well-stocked bar, but there is no restaurant in the Palazzo Vecchio but then again, there are lots of very nice places to eat on your doorstep. Free car parking, too. Wonderful getaway hotel.
A lovely small hotel within easy walk to all amenities. Welcomed at almost midnight with a glass of Raki and pointed in the direction of somewhere to eat. Staff couldn't be more helpful with plenty of tips for eateries etc. Picture of the pool was rather optimistic as it was VERY small but did not detract from the place at all. Would definitely recommend.

On arrival and throughout stay we were made to feel very welcome. Staff were friendly, helpful, courteous and professional. We had a maisonette room which was spotlessly cleaned every day.
Location was great and had a wonderful view of the castle which was very close by.
5 minute walk into the main town and a 15 min walk to the beach. 5 minutes to the pretty venetian harbour with lovely restaurants and view.
Would highly recommend this hotel and hope to come back again.

A very pleasant town-centre hotel
We stayed here for one night while visiting Rethymnon from our holiday base in Archanes. This is a boutique hotel so the rooms are small, but that was not an issue. The staff, especially Angela and Irini, were most helpful in ensuring we knew how to get around the Old Town and recommending restaurants.
The tiny plunge pool is in the centre of the courtyard which means that there can be some noise, but this is only to be expected.
The breakfast was perfectly adequate. Despite the fact that we tend to prefer larger properties where guests are not on top of each other, I would happily stay here again.

Perfect location on edge of Old Town
Wonderful breakfasts sitting around the pool. Staff were really friendly and car parking was opposite the hotel. A beautiful base to explore the old town.

Stayed several nights in a nice room on the second floor. had a very nice stay and we recommend this hotel to those wanting a hotel close to the old town and the fort.
There is a grocery store nearby on the same street and also a number of restaurants. Ask staff for restaurant recommendations and you can't go wrong.
One tip, if you are driving this hotel is a bit tricky to find as the street name changes. It is opposite a small police station which might help you find it.

Absolutely lovely hotel, very friendly staff, really clean and nice rooms. Ideally situated for Beach, restaurants and shopping.

Central location with car parking
Warm welcome on arrival. Staff were very friendly and helpfull with suggestions about eating and drinking venues in the town and surrounding area. Free car parking across the road in the hotel's private car park was a bonus. One of the main attractions of the hotel was it's location just away from the heart of the town. The narrow lanes in the centre made the other hotels that we looked at feel claustrophobic. Polazzo Vecchio on the other hand felt airy and bright.

Great hotel in perfect location in old town
Stayed there for a week in April. Room was more than big enough and had a little kitchenette. Bathroom a little bit cramped, but no problem. Breakfasts were very good including the usual continental stuff and some hot options, too. Staff were brilliant. Very helpful in recommending activities and restaurants and in arranging stuff for us. Went above and beyond the call of duty in chasing us to the bus station to return a mobile phone we'd left behind!
Rethymnon is a good base with an excellent bus service along the north coast. Heading south is a bit more problematic as there are only a couple of buses a day to the villages. However, there are no shortage of travel companies running coach tours, boat trips and walks, so there are plenty of ways to see the island without a car. Rethymnon old town is lovely to wander around and there are some surprisingly good restaurants. The Venetian fortress and archaeological museum are well worth a visit.
Minoan ruins at Knossos and Phaestos (Festos) are also fascinating, as is the museum in Heraklion which contains many of the spectacular Minoan finds and is nicely laid out to guide you through the different periods.

We found that after years of booking hotels with pools for the kids (now grown up), it made a nice change to be right in the middle of Rethimno old town which is charming and full of character.

This hotel is close to all shops and supermarkets. Beach with sun beds and parasols 15 min walk. Multipl tavernas in walking distance of hotel. Some noise from events at the fortezza but nothing ready late. Staff are very friendly and helpful.

There is a small sun deck area at the top of the hotel, which makes a nice place to sit and drink a glass of wine, or cup of tea if you prefer. The view from here is excellent, across the bay toward Chania, or up to the fort.
We didn't try the small pool in the courtyard, but I imagine that it would make a nice place to cool down after a hot day.
We had a little trouble finding the hotel - Expedia's map location and our sat nav took us to precisely the right location, but the hotel doesn't have any big, brash, signs (neither should it, that would spoil the place). We didn't initially spot the small signs on the wall of the hotel - which are clear, but not over prominent. We stopped to ask a tourist policeman, and he pointed out that we were right next to the hotel (which is right opposite the tourist police building in this part of town).
Rethymnon is a lovely town, plenty of interesting buildings and features, nice shops, and a good range of restaurants, cafes, etc.
Internet access was quick and reliable.

Excellent bijou hotel with great atmosphere
We spent a very enjoyable week staying at the Palazzo Vecchio in Rethymnon - the staff were friendly and helpful - the buffet breakfast served in the courtyard each morning was a delight. The small pool in the courtyard was just perfect - I used it each day and on a couple of occassions used the sun loungers on the roof too. Undoubtedly, one of the best small hotels we have stayed at - we would happily return another year.

A small, friendly hotel in a quiet setting
We thoroughly enjoyed our week's holiday in Rethymon, staying at Palazzo Vecchio. Our suite was very clean and comfortable, with a separate sitting and dining area. Although the bedroom was a little small for the queen size bed provided, it was comfortable and had plenty of storage space for clothes and luggage. The hotel serves a plentiful and varied buffet breakfast in the courtyard, around the pool.The kitchenette was equipped with all we needed to make a simple snack, but lacked some basic equipment needed to prepare a meal. However, eating out was not expensive and Cretan cuisine so delicious that we had no need to cook. The hotel staff were all friendly, courteous and helpful and made us feel very welcome.

Vecchio holiday magic!
A perfect combination of high quality apartments, genuinely friendly hosts and staff and a breakfast selection that never runs out, even if it's 5 mins from finish time ( I've been in high end hotels you couldn't and wouldn't match this level of consideration and professionalism).
It's also happens to be one of the best locations for free parking, the pedestrian old town shopping and better restaurants.
Don't waste your time looking at offers, just book Vecchio sit back and relax, it'll be EXCELLENT.

Great hotel with personality
Palazzo Vecchio is a great hotel next to the beautiful old town of Rethymno. It has a unique personality being very different than typical vacation places. The rooms are located around a beautiful central patio. This patio was where the wonderful breakfast was served and a great place to relax and have a coffee or drink. It was especially beautiful at night due to nice lighting. My room was on the ground floor, very well kept, spacious and with a lot of character. The staff was exceptional in helping us for our every need, especially Thanasis, a great warm person that was full of positive energy, humor and great suggestions.

Delightful little hotel in the old town of Rethymno walking distance from the beach. Gorgeous rooms (we were given a free upgrade!) with a roof terrace for sunbathing and a little pool in the courtyard if you fancy a plunge. The staff could not have been more accomodating if they tried!

We had an excellent stay. The owners and staff were incredibly friendly and the hotel is in a great location near the fort and in the old town. I would definitely recommend it for anyone who wants to stay in a character-filled hotel, near the old town rather than a resort.

A little gem of a hotel, on the edge of the old town. Perfect location as only 50 metres from the sea and only 5 mins walk from the centre of the old town. It also has free parking opposite, which will be handy I suspect during busy summer periods.
We had room 301 which was on the top corner of the building. The room was delightful, classic design with large bed plus a desk /bureau, little dining table and kitchenette and a sofa with a tv (that we didn't turn on), little balcony with chairs and table.
The staff couldn't have been more helpful, the lady who served breakfast (breads, jams, cereals, hams / cheeses, boiled eggs) was delightful and gave us some local tips on beaches and places to visit. Breakfast is served outside in a central courtyard which was a lovely start to the day.
You can buy local wine / beer from a teeny bar by reception and take to your room or the courtyard, roof terrace. The prices were very reasonable (much cheaper that the next hotel we stayed at in Elounda).
There are lots of lovely restaurants, bars, ice-cream parlours within a 5 min walk of the hotel - but this did not 'feel' a tourist trap type of place, more a local town focused on local food, with variety for those a little less adventurous.

An oasis in the city.
A lovely small hotel with real charm. Great location. Rooms were large with a nice balcony. Very nice small plunge pool. Perfect for cooling off after a hot day. The small court yard has lovely flowers and is a pleasant quiet place to sit with a glass of wine and nice for breakfast. Perfect for anyone wanting a quiet small hotel that is centrally located. Would love to go back and stay longer.

Personnel très sympathique et à l’écoute, de plus on y parle français. Nous avions la chambre « Suite » très confortable et spacieuse avec un coin cuisine et salon.
L’hôtel est très proche de la ville, ce qui est appréciable.
