I've been at this hotel a few times and service is always excellent. Staff at desk is really helpful and super professional. Breakfast buffet coffee can be improved but staff there offered espresso or capuccino from the machine in the kitchen.
AND the biggest disappointment is the lack of a gym available the days we were there! Gym is inside a private spa and you have to book it and they close Sunday and Monday. I think a little relax and exercise area is a must for a beautiful and nice hotel like this.

Worse experience ever!
This was by far, the worse experience we've had at a hotel in years. When we checked in they refused to give us a room with a double bed, claiming that there were none available. The room was disgusting to say the least. The entire ceiling was covered with mold, there was dust everywhere, pubic hairs in the shower, and the toilet... didn't even work! Naturally we complained and we're \"upgraded\" to a room with a double bed. This one, only a little bit cleaner but with the added bonus of a garbage can full of decaying fruit peelings and feces covered toilet paper. The hotel response was an apology along with 6 Lolly Pops (I which I was joking) and free breakfast, but only the next day (gee thanks). The hotel claims it is rated 4 stars...the experience proved otherwise. I would have expected better even from a two star hotel.

Disappointed in Gijon
We reserved 2 rooms for 3 nights. The lady at the reception desk was rude; our reservation was made several months ago and requested double bed. It so happens the this hotel has ONLY four rooms with double beds. If they had informed us when we reserved we would have changed hotels. When we got our rooms one had heavy smell of cigarettes and in the other the AC did not work. They gave us new rooms that were OK but also with twin beds. The service and the food at the restaurant and bar was excellent.

Good location, especially if you have a car
NH Gijon is a good hotel for your stay in Gijon. Next to the beach, and while it's on the other side of the beach from the old town, it was great to stay here because of the free street parking for our car rental. This made the hotel a great base for our stay in Asturias. There is plenty of street parking and there are also fun bars/restaurants within 10 minutes from the hotel. The only knock on the hotel were that the double beds kept drifting.

The hotel is great, lovely location. Love the rooftop but remember, this is Asturias and only from June to September and if you get lucky with the weather. Rooms are ok but remember, they DO NOT have kinng or queen size beds, only 2 doubles, which is a shame....

The hotel served it's purpose for my business trip, but I was disappointed to find no tea/coffee facilities in the room, especially as there was no room service available on Sunday. I know I was in Spain, but I travel a lot through Asia and there are always English programmes/news on the tv service, but not in this hotel - all Spanish. Thank goodness for Netflix!

While this is not the most luxurious NH we have stayed in, this is a first-rate hotel and we thoroughly enjoyed our visit.
Although it is a 25 minute walk to the old town, for the majority of people this should prove no hardship.
The rooms are modern, well-appointed and kept spotlessly clean. Our only gripe was that the double bed we had requested was not available.
There is a pool on the roof of the hotel; and for those who are unwilling to face the crowded beach, this should prove perfectly adequate. However, loungers and parasols are at a premium, so it pays to rise early if you wish to secure a spot. Moreover, unlike the wonderful NH in Livorno we visited last year, the bar on the roof terrace is rarely open. Apparently, it is owned by the restaurant in the basement, which is not linked to the group, and our brief contact with the staff of this \"exclusive\" establishment would suggest that they regard the guests with disdain.

This is a really good hotel. It seems quite new and the staff is extremely helpful and very friendly.

Pleasant if slightly pricy stay in a hotel more conducive to a business clientele. Large, comfortable guest room, working WiFi - shame there was no bathtub. Breakfast way, way too expensive, sauna too. Otherwise a decent-standard NH chain hotel, arty in style, by the seafront, the other side of town from the new train station and age-old bus station. Mention must be made of the staff, who kindly ran up to the room with a spare disposable razor and shaving cream within two minutes of my phone call to reception.

Nice hotel, however the wifi isn't ideal for anyone trying to work. You are giving a code which gives you 100mb, however this seemed to get used up roughly every 90 minutes (just from normal browsing). Had to keep going back to get more wifi passcodes.

Gijon is definitely a unique and authentically Spanish resort town. The very cool, and thoroughly modern hotel set a great contrast to the traditional Spanish flair. Excellent and friendly staff will guide you around the confusion of the streets. By far the best breakfast buffet in all the places we stayed throughout Spain!

Breakfast here is expensive and so we went out to find something. The hotel is on the edge of the front but it only took 10 minutes to find somewhere. The old town though is a 30 minutes walk away.

Hotel is very modern and stylish, with comfortable rooms. Parking easy to access and convenient. Hotel location, at one end of the beach, is nice and the stroll to the city is pleasant. Room was very hot so I had to have the window open most of the time, as the air conditioning wasn't very effective. One annoyance was the free wi-fi that is advertised prominently throughout the hotel. After several hours struggling with it, I realised that the free wi-fi was at a maximum speed of 128 kbps, i.e. useless. Once I realised this I paid around ten euro for the \"premium\" option and had no more speed issues. Overall, I would recommend.

I was ill while staying there and the staff were amazing from organisung a doctor/medico team to changing my bed. I would like to mention Sofia particularly, the housekeeper. We will definitely stay there again.

This hotel is not the place to go for a romantic break. We requested a room with double bed. Only on arrival were we told that the hotel has no rooms with double beds. Twin bedded rooms only. We enjoy a swim in the morning before breakfast but the pool only opens at 10.00ameveryday and closes at 6:00 pm on weekends. Not good!! Especially when the hotel makes a big feature of this facility. On one day the roof top bar was closed to guests from 7:00pm for a private function! It was not possible to have any laundry service at the weekend and there was no iron facility in the bedroom. Overall this is a clean sterile hotel that does not offer 4 star service or facilities. We would not stay there again. Look for a hotel at the port end of the beach!!!

Estuvimos alojados varios días y, en general, la experiencia fue positiva. La habitación era cómoda, aunque echamos en falta algún enchufe con puerto USB que permitiera cargar el móvil directamente, aunque no fue un problema grave. Como anécdota, al pagar en efectivo, hubo un pequeño error al contar los billetes y tuvieron que hacer caja para verificarlo. A modo de disculpa por el inconveniente, tuvieron el detalle de regalarnos los tres días de parking, lo cual agradecimos mucho.

Evento-cena multitudinario de empresa en el hotel, sin avisar por supuesto. Me dan la habitación que más cerca está (en altura y longitud) a donde esta tropa monta follón hasta las 4am, gritos, risas permanentes. Nos teníamos que levantar a las 7. Me quejé en recepción a la vuelta de mi cena y me dicen que las habitaciones están insonorizadas..., un reparto adecuado a los clientes donde no sean molestados es lo exigible. We were staying in Gijón due to a wonderful road-trip through the North of Spain. The hotel is conveniently located, close to the beautiful promenade of the town and easy to access to, as you are arriving by car. Directly next to the hotel entrance you will find their underground car-park, which we liked very much due to reasons of security, since our car was rather packed with luggage. The rooms are modern and spacious, bathrooms are top notch as well. Most important to us was the pet-friendlyness, which is not common in Spain. This hotel even provides you with a bed for your dog, which obviously was very comfy, as our dog slept in it without waking me up during the night. Breakfast is high-class, providing you with a large variety of fruit, bread, cold cuts and eggs in all varieties. The staff is just wonderful, going forth and back to make your stay a wonderful one. No matter, whether Checking in or out or enjoying breakfast, everyone is working hard on making your stay a perfect one. During our stay, one of the front-lights of our car broke down. The receptionist, who does not own a car, asked her colleagues who were off duty, to provide us with the address of a good car-mechanic. The recommended one did a wonderful job and we were more than greatful for the information. Due to all this, we changed our original plans and chose this wonderful hotel again on our way back home. We'll definitely be coming back in the future. Thank you so much for everything!

Buen hotel aunque echamos en falta algunos detalles propios de la cadena NH como algunos amenities del baño (no habia cepillo del pelo,acondicionador,set de afeitado, pasta de dientes...), no habia albornoz ni zapatillas, ni para calentar agua y tomarte algo. Si habia minibar y snaks pero a un precio que te quitaba el hambre y la sed al instante. Obviando esto, la habitacion estaba muy limpia y la cama muy comoda. La insonorizacion de la habitación inexistente. En general es buen hotel pero con faltas para un 4*.
