Overall it was a decent stay. The pool was “closed for maintenance” for the duration of our stay. I wish we had been told when booking as that was part of the reason we booked that hotel. The room had been maintained and you can see they fix what they can as well as they can. It could use an update but overall it was clean and decent. The pool has hours listed on it. The fitness room does not have hours nor was I informed of the hours when checking in but when I was halfway through my workout I was told it was closed. I incorrectly assumed it must be open whenever since there were no hours posted. So that was embarrassing and I left as quickly as I could. So ask about the hours before using the fitness room. It has 3 machines. A treadmill (which doesn’t stop without pulling the emergency cord or decreasing the speed all the way) an elliptical and sitting bike and then some mats and weights. It is decent for what it is. Overall, I might stay there again as it worked for what I needed it for but I’ll be asking about the pool before booking and asking about the hours of the fitness room as I still don’t know those.

Rooms was clean and had everything we needed. Having Dennys attached to the hotel was incredible convenient with them being open all hours and serving something for everyone, we had dinner and breakfast there and everyone enjoyed the food and the staff there were great also. Great location just minutes away from where we needed to be and close to anything you could need in Cranbrook. Would definately stay at this Sandman again for the great location and easy access to food at the Dennys.

The only thing that saved this from one star was the extremely helpful staff. The thermostat in our room was broken and it was hot as the tropics, and we found ants in the bathroom (mid February). We switched rooms only to find that we couldn't adjust the temperature in our second room and had to open the window to get cool air. Walls and carpets were filthy.

We booked there so we could use the pool, when we arrived and checked no one at the front desk let us know the pool was not working, we found out by seeing an “out of order sign on the pool door”.

Room:
The light in the hallway flickers, so clearly something with the electrical and also the small towel holder is falling off the wall, and they also don’t warn you about the noise from the train rolling by all night.

The bed was very comfortable and the extra seating area with couch was nice. Great water pressure with lots of hot water in the shower. Very convenient to have Dennys restaurant part of the hotel. Check in/out went quickly. Nice touch having a coffee/tea/water station with cookies in the lobby. Lots of free parking available.
There is no elevator which is a drawback if you're on the upper floor. The bathroom area is a bit small and not alot of counter space. Overall a comfortable stay.

We booked Sandman for the pool, it was advertised as having a pool. I got my kid excited to swim in the pool and then when we went down to go it, it was closed.

You should advise that some amenities are unavailable at the time of booking.

Sandman in Cranbrook in order to have a swim after a long days driving. We were advised, after saying we were looking forward to a relaxing swim, that the pool was closed. We were not advised of this before we arrived. A couple of hours later, after a rest, I had to go to the front desk to find out how to work the tv remote. While there I said I was not happy about the pool situation and asked if we could have a reduction in our room rate. The very nice lady said as we had booked through Expedia, she could not refund, but would give us a voucher for $40 for the Denny’s restaurant adjoining the hotel.
A word on the restaurant, filthy. Honestly, so dirty.

Our room faced railway track, train noises all through the night. Upon arrival, was told pool not operational, this was NOT noted on their website. Too expensive for the poor quality of the rooms.

Worst sandman I’ve stayed in, bottom 10 hotels.

Our room had a decent sized stain on the ceiling from the bathroom above leaking down. Our bathroom looked to have mold. Cigarette smoke smell bothered my kids and wife from trying to sleep, couldn’t leave the window open as it was large enough for the homeless to climb through. It was most evident from the bathroom, seemed to be coming in through the fan that was unable to turn off.

For $200 a night this is totally unacceptable. Room smells so bad we need to leave windows open and fan on. If I hadn’t already pre-paid, I would have walked away. This property is poorly kept up. We will never stay at another Sandman in a small town without thoroughly reading the reviews.

There was blood on the sheets on the sofa bed. Also blood stains on some of the towels. The toilet kept running. Otherwise the room was clean. The pool is out of order. The second floor is dipped in so bad the doors do not want to close. There is approximately a 3 inch gap at the base of the door on 1 side. This hotel needs some serious work and upgrades.

The interior from lobby up the stairs to the second floor is like the second half of Titanic (sloped sideways). It looks like some structural remediation is needed. In addition to that, we booked this hotel expecting to use the pool but the pool was out of order when we got there and no reimbursement was offered.

The clerk spoke very limited English. Almost like she only learned how to check you in. A 5 minute phone call asking about pool towels was nuts only to find out the pool was closed.
There is only enough hot water for a 2 - 4 minute shower before going ice cold.
The railroad is about 30' from your window and there were 4 trains last night. Also there were people, homeless I assume, sleeping out back by the tracks.
Not worth the money. This should be a $59 dollar motel!
