The property was clean and the staff was kind. We had booked an premium lakeview room to watch the water in warmth and comfort, but realized that the restaurant looked directly into our room and thus we had to keep the blinds closed for most of our visit. Breakfast was standard continental fare. Laundry was convenient. Thank you!

The heaters in the rooms were fantastic and the bathroom dryer was wonderful to dry hair and clothing. The washer/dryer combo with detergent included for a load was soooo spectacular! Our view of the sunrise over the lake was a highlight to our trip. The dining staff (Madeline and Colton) were exceptionally accommodating with our dietary needs and gave us recommendations for a winery! The chef did a great job to make our meals work for us. The housekeepers (Yahol and Chihari) even gave us excellent service!

Edgewater is in the most perfect location set amongst beautifully manicured gardens that run down to the lake's edge. An easy stroll into town serviced by one of the many walking trails. Our room was extremely comfortable with a lovely balcony overlooking the lake, we cannot wait to return.

Kitchen was marginally equipped for cooking. Different features were of average quality. Drawers in kitchen performed poorly. Bathroom was marginal. No plug for sink or tub until we asked. Washer worked, dryer was terrible and we had to hang clothing around to dry. Beautiful property. Landscaping exceptional but interiors were lacking.

The Edgewater Hotel trades entirely on its location. For the premium rate charged, the experience is shockingly poor.

The rooms are desperately dated, feeling like a 1990s time capsule. However, the critical failure is the complete lack of climate control. There is no air conditioning, and not even a basic fan was provided, making the room unbearably stuffy. While AC might not be listed, its absence at this price point is unacceptable and should be glaringly disclosed.

Furthermore, the staff were indifferent and unhelpful, adding to the frustration.

You pay for a luxury lakeside stay but receive a sub-par, uncomfortable motel experience. Avoid until major renovations and policy changes are made.

Lovely hotel, friendly staff, stunning views over the lake, and really nice room.
We enjoyed an evening in the outdoor hot tub.
It’s about a 30 minute walk into the main strip in town but we really enjoyed the walk and being that bit further round the lake. Plenty of parking in the town if people needed to drive instead.
Perhaps the bathroom could do with a refurb, but that certainly would not stop us from coming back.

Edgewater was just where we wanted to be within 10 minutes walk of the Wanaka tree. Our room 107 looked out in the lake. Good heater in the room and bathroom. Restaurant had smallish menu but both dinners we had there were fabulous. Our waitress Lucy was really good and Sam the supervisor was helpful and really polite. Only downside was using the sauna next to hot tubs would have been relaxing but both times tubs full of screaming children. Perhaps do an hour a day without ?Otherwise highly recommend

If you are eloping in NZ and taking off in a helicopter, I highly recommend booking the Edgewater, and if you can get it, premium suite #101. It was a mere 20m from our patio to the waiting helicopter, no having to drive anywhere etc.

That aside, the staff were so friendly with lots of nice personal touches noting our celebration. The refurbished rooms are tastefully decorated and spacious. Being right on the lake is beautiful and plenty of available parking. Getting into town is walkable otherwise a comfortable 5 min drive.

Wow! What a magical place Edgewater is. I came to relax and as soon as i walked in I felt calm.
The restaurant has fabulous food, from breakfast to dinner. Sitting outside up on the hill and looking down at the lake was my favourite. The grounds are just lovely.
The staff were attentive and nothing was too much trouble. They even offered to carry my bags to my room.
The walk around the lake was absolutely beautiful.
I would highly recommend a stay here.

While we loved the location and outlook of this property; we were disappointed with aspects of the room. They were visibly old in parts and noisy (poor insulation) which meant we were kept awake by people above and besides us and walking on the external steps. We also had a long wait (well beyond the check-in time) to be able to check-in to our room, despite being told we would be able to check-in early. For the price of this accommodation, the overall experience and condition of the hotel was disappointing.

A first class resort which I wish I had booked for more than one day. There are ground and second floor rooms in each building with the upper rooms accessed by stairs. Each room has a very modern bathroom and a outside patio with a view of the grounds and a bit of the lake. Used room service and it was delivered at promised time for a modest fee. Bed was comfortable and the walking paths by the lake offer beautiful views.

Our room with a direct and beautiful lakeside view was very comfortable and quiet. Dinner in the restaurant was fine, too, but breakfast service needs improvement: replenishing the eggs took at least 15 minutes, and one of the servers did not speak English sufficiently and gave incorrect information about the buffet service.

Beautiful hotel resort. We had a suite that was just perfect! The layout and views were amazing and it felt very spacious. There’s a restaurant available. The coffee breakfast was delicious. It is an older resort but very well maintained. We didn’t stay very long but there is a sauna available. The lake is just a quick walk out from any of the rooms and restaurants. I’m definitely planning to return to this location and the resort. Thank you!

We stayed one night in a superior apartment. We were very happy with our accommodation choice. The apartment was one of the renovated ones. It was roomy and had a view onto the lake and really convenient parking right outside. The dining at the hotel was okay, although much better options in the town of Wanaka, about 20 minutes walk away.

Beautiful landscaping, relaxing and calm. It’s an easy walk to the town center yet away from its hustle and bustle. I walked the trail along the lake, it was delightful. I’ll definitely come back.

We will not stay there again. We werextod when we arrived that the dining room was fully booked both evenings wexwere there. No hint of this before although I talked with front desk a couple days before we arrived.

Food service even for drinks severely messed up. Bar munchies were put in front of us with pizza uncut, drinks never arriving. Just a mess all around. Not what one should have to suffer when oaying $550NZ a day.

Very disappointing experience for us as they just didnt care. We're 7500 miles from home and Valentines ruined along with 2 days of our stay in NZ

Booked a Premier Suite for a one night stay. It was spacious, well equipped, had a comfortable bed and a very useful washer/dryer. Was hoping for a decent view of the lake, but we just had a glimpse as the room was facing towards the town and any view was obscured by trees.

The biggest disappointment was dinner and breakfast. Our main dishes for dinner was unbelievably salty. Breakfast was very below par for what is claimed to be a luxury hotel.

Being situated on the lake it was advertised as a luxury property however we were very disappointed by the standard as it is quite outdated and in need of a renovation. Staff were not very nice when we arrived which set off our stay on a negative start. It is not sound proof so you can hear your neighbours.
It has potential but we feel they take the location for granted and let down the experience of NZ and experiencing Wanaka as everyone should have a better experience than that. We wouldn’t go back as we can have a better stay elsewhere for the cost.

The second night of our stay, the hot water for shower ran out and we were told that the water tank will heat up in 40 mins or so, but it didn’t. We ended up showering almost cold water…. And we only used it for less than 30mins.

Hidden gem on the lake with walking track and shops cafes and restaurants close by. Facilities were also great with spas, bikes available if needed. The hotel restaurant was really good with a great selection of wines and meals.

John who works overnight at reception was excellent when I need to call an Ambulance he guided the Ambulance to our room. Staff the next day didn't know anything about it so I said please let him know thank you. Beautiful location, our room was on top floor hard to bring bags up steps. someone else was parked in our allocated spot - all round was difficult to access but a beautiful location. Staff at restaurant are lovely.

Overall good stay with newly renovated rooms. But the room lack of amenities and the renovation seems incomplete. For example, the shower gel is placed on the floor and there is no ledge. The area is beautiful facing the lake and you can walk around it. But it’s a bit far to walk to city centre. Nice and friendly stuff!

Fabulous experience, Great Location right on lake, nice easy Check in, lovely helpful staff, Room was perfect and just what we booked. We used the spa and sauna both awesome and easy to use just have to warm up sauna before using, so we sat in spa while we waited. Walked round lake into town to get a coffee in morning and watched the sun rise at 8.30am.
