We had a great time at this fantastic property. The staff have been absolutely amazing, always with a smile on their face and ready to help. The atmosphere around the resort was very peaceful, the room was spotless and the direct access to a private beach was a bonus as you don’t need to fight for a place. The swimming pool was perfect size and there is also free snorkelling equipment available as well table tennis, kayaks and hammocks. You can arrange tours around the island at the reception - we did the countryside tour. There is only one restaurant but it is exceptionally good with a beautiful view so no need to look further. I could go on and on but all that’s left to say is thank you to all the staff for making our holiday so special, really a gem of a place! Salamat!!

Art and antiques abound in a well decorated resort. Lush and green, wonderful pool and a beachfront; you can't help but be impressed with the layout and excellent staff. My suite was full of light airy with two balconies. If you want quiet at night, this is it. View is amazing: WiFi and cable TV not great but available. My one disappointment was their wine selection: terrible! Next time I will bring my own, but in their defense the wine vendor they used went bankrupt, although a 4 star resort should do better. Yes, I would come back because it truly is a great place to visit Panglao.

The resort offers a great ambience, design, food, amenities and most of all the people who serve and provide what you need for your stay.

The pick up in the airport was stress-free and easy. We recognized the driver in a yellow uniform with Amarela signage, and approached us with an umbrella and a big smile going to the van.

We arrived at the resort and warmly welcomed us with drinks and precious smiles of the staff. We were checked in right away upon arrival though our check-in time should’ve been in a later time. Lots of help with our luggages and the spirit of hospitality radiated throughout as we walked into our room.

The design of the resort is elegantly beautiful and the concept of old Bohol is quite fascinating. I love the local art and woodwork that show how rich Filipino culture and traditions are. The whole place is surrounded with vibrant beauty of landscape and colourful flora.

The amenities and facilities offer a sense of the place that is easily accessible and entertaining.

The service in the restaurant was superb, and the food was prepared meticulously and with delightful to our palate.

The staff made our stay comfortable and their amazing service truly what makes this resort a five star and exceptional. From the room service, restaurant, even the art gallery and by the beach—all well-staffed and their assistance was remarkable.

My family really unwind and enjoyed our stay here. Beach is not great though but not far from Alona beach. 5⭐️

It is a very beautiful property and the staff was so friendly. It is an older property without an elevator but I think this added to the beautiful rustic atmosphere. We had one female girl at the restaurant that never smiled and seemed to be a little unhappy with her job but she was not disrespectful so it’s all good. Lol she also did not wear a name tag on her shirt as the others did. But all and all it was a great experience and we will go back.

Excellent resort. Beautiful views of the sea and gardens. Nice comfortable rooms. Fantastic, helpful, friendly staff. We ate breakfast and dinner at the resort. Food was superb, my compliments to the chef(s). Nice private beach, swimming pool, hammocks, chairs, net for badminton. Just very pleasant overall. Very satisfied. Yes, you are away from the town and need to have transportation but that's what resorts are about.

Beautiful, cozy boutique hotel with a gorgeous view and excellent service. Rooms were clean and spacious with a comfortable bed and AC which made the room heaven to come back to after a day out in the sun. Nice pool and a few steps to the beach with a fun sandy area including games and a slack line. Overall really enjoyed our stay here.

Its a quiet ressort unless guest with childrens are there. The breakfast buffet could have more choice. Beach is good but dont think your gonna dive in wave and clean water. Its not a beach to swim easily as its shallow and full of sea weed. Still you can walk and find a good spot. Theres no wave there. Staff is welcoming and smiling ;)
Food is good but portion are small.

Overall is 8.5 out of 10 for me.

This is marketed and displayed as a 4* star hotel. When you get to the hotel they clearly have 3* star certification showing.

The prices they charge are like theyre s 5 star.

This is a ripoff and misleading ratings.

The hotel is set in a quiet location with green gardens with acess to panglao beach.

The rooms are very basic. The western food is awful. I was served frozen fritters which were cold on my plate. A club sandwich with virtually no filling and a pizza which i wss toldwas fresh later discovering that it wasnt when questioning the taste.

EXPEDIA SHOULD TAKE RESPINSIBITY AND THIS IS NOT THE FIRST TIME A HOTEL IS RATED HIGHER THAN IT ACTUALLY IS.

Excellent choice

Excellent hotel with very helpful and polite staff. We stayed there for only one night.
There is a clean and organised private beach as well as a swimming pool. The rooms are well equipped, but the shower is a bit dated.
Overall a very pleasant experience, top restaurant.

A quiet escape in Panglao

Amarela is such a quaint hotel with it’s own private beach, perfect for a relaxing vacation. It’s not within the vicinity of Alona but you can still take a 15 minute tricycle ride to get there. Breakfast was of quality except for a few items on the menu which we ordered on different occasions. I would also suggest that restaurant staff check on the pool area once in a while so we don’t have to go all the way up to order food. Rooms are nicely maintained and are well ventilated. I truly enjoyed and will surely be back!

A wonderfully charming, boutique-type, hotel set in beautiful beach-side surroundings. The staff, food and decor were all excellent, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and wish we could have stayed longer! So quiet and tranquil.

The only faults were the room (Superior) was a little on the small side and the bathroom could perhaps do with some modernisation, HOWEVER, these two, very minor, issues were more than made up for by the hotel staff (a special mention to Jason and Sander - ALWAYS helpful and smiling!), the gardens, food, decor, pool, beach - basically, everything else!

Thanks for having us, would definitely recommend and hopefully return very soon.

Great hotel and base to explore Panglao

We had a great time as a family with a 3 year old for 5 nights. Our child loved the pool as it had a shallow kiddie section. The restaurant was very good and even had a vegetarian and vegan menu. We had a deluxe room that was spacious and had great AC. There is even a large DVD library which is good if you like going to sleep right after a movie. The area only has a couple of convenience stores within a 15 minute walk, but it is very easy to get a trike or taxi. There is lots to see on Panglao and on Bohol island. One negative is the beach area isn't the best. There is a lot of seaweed, but you can use a kayak and go exploring. Wifi was spotty from the room.

Hotel with a traditional flair

We are a family of 4, with 2 kids of 9 and 13. We spent 1 night at the hotel. The hotel is very particular, built up the hill, with a very nice see view, a nice restaurant terrace overlooking the property and the see.
The property is very cared of, with many traditional wood carvings decorations that give the ambience a special flair. The room was spacious and very comfortable, great beds, WIfi, TV, bath robes, unbrellas, etc.., silent working air con. The pool was also very pleasant. we enjoyed a fantastic massage down at their beach massage location. The beach was clean. We didn't spend time at the beach, so I can't comment on the service there. For the rest, the service in the hotel was good and the staff helpful. They organized 2 motor bikes for day rental without extra charges from the hotel. We had also dinner there. The restaurant is really nice, food was ok, even if not exceptional, but service was a bit too long.
There aren't restaurants nearby at a walking distance, you need a motor bike or a taxi.

I was very happy while I stay this resort.
Frist time , I need to wait pick up car at the port during 20min. The weather was very hot and I was very unpleasant .But when I arrive at the hotel, my emotion changed in good mood.
The staff are very helpful and room was cozy and comfortable.
The sunrise in the balcony was exceptional view. I want to visit this hotel next time if I visit Bohol again.

Perfect place to relax!

We booked the rooms through Expedia but still got an email from Amarela offering us a free airport transfer. This is just the beginning of how good we felt about choosing Amarela. We were received by friendly staff at the airport and at the hotel - check-in was a breeze. The hotel has a lovely pool, clean beach (watch out for the urchins), lots of space for kids to play, games room and a great collection of DVDs and books to borrow. The restaurant has a decent selection of both local and western food - their daily specials make up for not having a large selection on the menu. Overall, a great place for anyone who wants to to explore Bohol or just want to relax - it is especially great for families.

We stayed 4 nights and really enjoyed our time there. Staff very professional and they try to help as much as possible. Quite good facilities. Try the free kayak for a trip on the see, and you can try some care free individual snorkelling. A small problem with a light in the room was promptly solved. Food at the resort restaurant is really very good and not expensive, we found. Overall a very good choice. Sure if you what to spend a fortune maybe the South Palms resort which is not so far from here could be maybe marginally better.

Before our stay with Amarela Resort, we received a message from them that the hotel was undergoing renovation but since we were out for diving for most of the day and weren't affected at all. The staff were really friendly and helpful and offered great service to us. I really like the interior of the hotel which is decorated with old Bohol furnitures. It is such a cozy and comfy place to stay, which is something very unique from other chained hotel. Really have nothing to complain about and I highly recommend this place.

A hidden gem

Amarela you have a piece of my heart. Right from the airport pickup our experience here was perfect. The rooms and everywhere in the hotel was clean, staff are very attentive. We loved the private beach..seemed like we had it all to ourselves. It was clean, well laid out ..even had hammocks under the coconut trees. The resort is built on a slope going towards the beach....lots of steps....not handicap friendly. Nice swimming pool...again we mostly had it to ourselves. The breakfast was ok......the sea view from the restaurant and the gardens was beautiful. The library above was extensive with books and dvds. We played a few rounds of ping pong and just relaxed with a book in their art gallery area. We had a room with two single beds and it was somewhat cramped....would have been nice to have had a king bed option. All in all had a lovely time and wished we had stayed longer.

Well for a family vacation it was \"OK\" not bad but not that good either. Food service is quite fast, but
the quality of their service when we arrived, well ill give it a 3 out of 5. there was no one to pick
our bags ready and as we checked out i called 2times to let them help us carry our bags. the shuttle service to has this ridiculous price tag in just a 10min trip supposed to be. if you want relaxation u cud go there its peaceful has this unique interior designs a reflection of the island, but if ur up to the keen service there well as i said earlier id give it a 3 out of 5.

A most relaxing stay

This lovely hotel came highly rated by Tripadvisor and by Expedia. It was a good thing I trusted the reviews because I and my partner had a amazing time when we stayed there from Jan 4-6, 2016. On arrival at the Tagbilaran airport, we were promptly picked up in a spacious van. The driver was kind enough to allow me to get off at a local store to buy sunblock. The resort is not too far from the airport. When we got there, we were treated with calamansi juice. The room, which was readily available, was impeccably clean, spacious, had a nice balcony, and a beautiful view of the resort. The resort was almost practically to our selves (because it was a weekday and the holidays just finished) and that made our experience even more wonderful. It was the best place to escape, relax and do nothing. The pool was just the perfect size. The beach was small but the sand was powdery white. The staff was very accommodating in terms of our requests. They were always courteous. Food esp breakfast was quite good – a bit pricey for the amount you get. I wish they’d have an option for buffet or larger portion meals even if it means paying more. All in all, we had a fantastic stay and I wouldn’t hesitate to go back at Amarela. Thanks to all the staff who made our stay memorable!

The place was like a lovely Boholano home, with impressively-crafted wooden furniture, lattice work, and art. The library of books and DVDs was impressive - from bestsellers and blockbuster hits, to classics. The staff were very helpful and went out of their way to accommodate our every request (from my son's milk, to the lattice work we bought at short notice, to arranging our transportation and short tours). The food was a bit hit-and-miss (mostly hit). The well-maintained swimming pool and short walk to the beach are super convenient. This place is highly recommended.

Stayed here for 6 days. Nice beach, outdoor pool, free wifi, huge lending library of books and DVD's. Very friendly and helpful staff. Would recommend to anyone who wants a quieter vacation away from the crowds. We were there in October and it was very quiet, though I'm sure in the high season it is busier.

Hammocks on the beach have nets around the coconuts so they don't fall on your head, staff smiles and says hello good morning how was your day, the grounds are manicured with no detail spared, the pool invites you for a swim, a beautiful beach,they have bacon for breakfast, they have an art gallery to enjoy paintings and a ping pong table, the tours arranged from the front desk are with your own driver and they are kind patient and knowledgeable, they have a DVD library to catch up on movies ... for free, they have a library with books and the floors are wood, the rooms are well appointed, We had a balcony facing toward the sea, butterflies floating by in technicolor... this place has got a soul

Every person on the staff was incredibly helpful and polite. They were always there to help us choose tours and get the most out of our stay. The hotel was gorgeous! It didn't matter where you looked - the view was always spectacular. The Filipino touches were all beautifully done so that it looks more homey than dated. They also have a great complimentary movie collection which helps when you're unwinding after a long day at the beach. I would definitely recommend this to friends, families and strangers! Will definitely find a way back in the future!

This place is spectacular. It wasn't the right choice for me as a solo traveller, but for a couple or family it would be amazing. Views of the ocean are great, rooms are well appointed for the Phillippines, service is great. Its a bit of a hassle when you want to go to Alona beach since there is a lot of waiting and rain involved, but this place is targeted more at people who want to stay at the resort and not go to Alona.

Food was decent but the views from the restaurant made eating a feast.

Nothing Wrong with Amarela!

Attentive staff, beautiful grounds, but if you want to go nearly anywhere, you will have to pay for a ride, as its quite far from most places. We walked about 45 min to the Bohol Bee Farm and about 20 to the Coco Farm, but other than that, you will probably have to pay to go anywhere else. Secluded, safe, peaceful, and nice views from the cafe. Breakfast was simple but adequate.

I came here for an anniversary with my girlfriend. From the moment I made the reservation until the moment I left, I was fully taken care of by the great amarela staff. They were very courteous and willing to provide everything I requested and more. They even provided a special anniversary package free of charge. We were met promptly by the driver of the hotel in Tagbilaran airport and was very friendly. The staff in the reception was very helpful and friendly as well. The room given to us was excellent facing the pool and the beach. It was clean and comfortable. The restaurant had excellent service staff. It was perched high that you can view the sea. The hotel is not close to any outside restaurants and shops which is fine with us. This makes the hotel very private. No vendors hassling us on the beach. There is a library full of good books and DVDs and toys for kids to keep everyone entertained.

A generally excellent hotel. The grounds are kept immaculate by the staff. Rooms are adequate but nothing special, likewise the food. Beautifully kept white sandy beach. staff friendly, helpful and attentive.

Beautiful Boutique Hotel with wonderful Sea-views

The owner and managers at this Panglou hotel in Panglou are aware of hotel improvements to make this a truly wonderful boutique hotel. The staff are young and require training. The kitchen and food and beverage services need a complete overhaul. Standard rooms need to be described as such and not superior rooms.

But the views, location, grounds and deluxe rooms are splendid.

Over our expectations. The staff was very attentive, with a smile on their faces. We felt welcomed. Beach was a few steps away and very private, not a whole lot of people at that time we came. We enjoyed resting in the hammock by the beach. Nice that there is security all the time. The food was excellent and well chosen.

Quiet getaway

The Amarela resort has one of the prettiest beach spots on Bohol. The hotel is calm, cozy, and quiet, and the owners have thought of everything you might need to be able to relax and enjoy the stay, including a great library of books and movies to keep you entertained once the sun goes down, which is important because Bohol is a rather remote, quiet destination.

It was a great place for a romantic 3 day getaway during our 3 weeks in the Philippines. The service was exceptional, and the private beach area was well kept. The resort restaurant was good, and transportation to other local restaurants, such as, the Bee Farm was readily available. We will definitely visit again when in Bohol in the future.

Private beach & pool; romantic getaway in Bohol

We loved Amarela's privacy. Highly suggested if you want relaxation away from the hustle/bustle of crowds. The restaurant & pool were almost always secluded with barely any other guests but guests were respectful & not loud so that the area was peaceful. In the morning you could walk down to the beach & use their kayaks/bancas to enjoy the sunrise in the crystal clear tranquil ocean waters. Mid afternoon the waves came and were still manageable. Around 6pm the tide went out & you could hunt for chocolate chip starfish, sea urchins, & other types of sea life easily in the pools of water for great picture taking! Amarela arranges Bohol tours as well so we had a guide pick us up and take us around to the points of interest, Chocolate Hills was the farthest one. The rooms are always tidy & include a safe. My only complaints are that there are way too many stairs (uneven stone stairs from the front desk/restaurant area down to the pool, to many of the rooms, & down to the beach (though it is pretty that they carved some out of the hillside). It's just that it can be treacherous at night w/no light, or if you're in wet beach shoes (bring them, you'll need them). Also the staff doesn't come to the pool area much so it's hard to order pool drinks/food. HUGE DVD collection, free newspapers, great seafood. Most of the time you're the only ones at the beach or pool area which makes for a romantic getaway & I super recommend this if you want to escape the crowds & enjoy paradise in Bohol

absolute heaven

the resort was very nice and it reminded me of an old hacienda house only it's facing b the beach. the staff were very nice and accommodating. however, although this just might be my personal taste, the resort could do with trimming the trees since some of it are blocking the nice view. it's not as accessible as other resorts which is good if you want a bit of seclusion. there is a public beach nearby, which could give you a glimpse into the local's lives for a bit.

The staff went out of their way to do all the crazy stuff that was asked of them. . .and except for maybe water skiing or other water sports added this is a great place to unwind. . .for couples and families !

Perfect for a relaxing vacation

It was fantastic. With breathtaking views, quiet surrounding, helpful and friendly staff, private stretch of beach - what more can one ask for? It's a perfect getaway if relaxation is your main goal. A massage by the beach or the pool is an awesome option. Me and my wife stayed with our little children. I think they enjoyed their stay more than us! The only complain I have is the hotel is not very close to Alona beach, which is where the dozens of food establishments are. We end up travelling to Alona beach every night for supper and it added to the cost of our stay. Walking is not an option so we had to shuttle it each time. The hotel itself had a good restaurant but we find the price to be on the high side. Overall, with fantastic service, clean rooms, and great amenities we will not hesitate to stay here again if we ever return to Bohol.

Quaint Villa

I love this exclusive resort in Panglao Island Bohol, Philippines! Architecturally inspired by local culture and the Spanish influence in the country, me & my husband felt we were invited to someone's quaint villa for the weekend. Food in the resort was delightful especially after we knew that the resort owners grow their own herbs and vegetables. Our room was in the 2nd floor of the main house where they have a library of books and DVDs. It was beautiful. I love the native hardwood floors and waking up to the songs of the birds native to that area . We woke up to the amazing sunrise every day. Ah the beach - heaven. White sands & clear waters. A must go place . We will go and stay there again in a heartbeat.

The food that they serve are organic - meaning they grow it themselves; that's why their nilaga, tinola & veggies taste so good. Absolutely loved everything. The location. The staff. The room. The atmosphere. I live and work in Manila and my partner is still back in Australia, so this was an opportunity for the two of us to spend some time together. Everything was perfect. The staff at Amarela helped us organise tours and were exceptionally friendly at all times. The resort is beautiful and well maintained. I will be going back at some point in the future.

Romantic Getaway

This trip was all about romance and this hotel did not fail to deliver. The staff was always there to greet us or help us in anything we needed. I proposed to my fiance during my stay and \"Brian\" made it VERY special with a candlelight dinner on the beach complete with candles and hearts with our names in lights on the beach.. truly magical!! The atmosphere and beaty of the this hotel is breathtaking... I only hope they survived the recent earthquake in Bohol as we left just a week prior to the disaster

Very home-like

Staff was amazing and very cordial, helped us with every bit of our stay, from meals to tour. Food was pretty good, despite what some reviews might say. Wish we had actually spent more time on the beach, which was practically empty but had a beautiful view! Only issue is that the hotel is so quiet and secluded, that it's far away from Alona Beach and other Panglao destinations. Nevertheless, staff will help you with transportation.

Great Hotel w/private beach

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Amarela Resort. The location is perfect for those of us who are looking for a very relaxing, peaceful and beautiful beach front resort. There is nothing close by the hotel like restaurants, shops or anything really within walking distance so you do have to get a car from the hotel as taxis are not available. The hotel grounds are great as they have a very nice private soft white sand beach with lots of palm trees and hammocks. There is really no real beach view from the rooms but once you step outside the room the view is great. The staff was great, very friendly and polite. The food was okay not great and prices are reasonable. Our room included breakfast and that was nice as you could have breakfast in your room, at the beach or at the restaurant and the food was good and portions were great. We took the hotel all day private tour chocolate hills, Loboc River and a few other popular sightseeing sites and the entire trip was Phenomenal. Loved having our own car and driver as we did things at our own pace and we got to enjoy each site as much or little as we wanted. The price was very reasonable and well worth it. I will definitely be going back to Amarela Resort

Me and my friend stayed there as last place in Bohol. What a gem that we found on this island. staffs are super lovely when my friend got sick from food from outside of resort they look aftered him though out the night with the medicine. it's located on a quieter district so I felt sense of privacy when I was there just like staying at back home.
Food in resort was just good as other big hotel chains.
Definitely recommend to anyone who's hesitating to stay here as you will be surprise with this place upon your arrival.
